Born in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture (Japan) 1970–72 Studies Spanish literature at the University of Osaka, Japan 1973–78 Studies Art at the Universidad de Sevilla, Facultad de Bellas Artes, Spain; Degree in 1978 1979–83 Residence in Zurich, Switzerland 1983 “Stadtzeichnerin von Nürnberg”, Grant by Faber-Castell and the City of Nuremberg, Germany 1985 Moves to Cologne since 1991 Professor at the Berlin University of Arts, Germany since 2014 Professor at the Joshibi University, Kanagawa, Japan Leiko Ikemura lives and works in Berlin and Cologne.
