PHIL Project at XI Saborea As Pontes

A group of B1 students went on a ‘field trip’ to some of the bars in As Pontes, which were taking part in the annual snack competition called Saborea As Pontes. The objective was to discover the healthiest “tapa”. Students had to take a picture of the snack, take note of the name and find out why it was called that way. Next, they had to describe the appearance of the snack and if possible, ask whether the ingredients were locally produced or homemade. After this, they had to describe the taste and give it a mark from 1 (unhealthy) to 5 (very healthy)

Here are their findings…

I´m going to talk about two “tapas” that participated this year in the “Saborea As Pontes” contest.

‘‘Trotters’’, at La Botellería

The name of this “tapa” is related to one of the ingredients with which it’s made, pig´s trotters.

Ingredients:

Pork rind, jowls and pig trotters, squid ink bread, beet mayonnaise, mustard mayonnaise, cauliflower, spicy radish and passion fruit pearls.

Preparation:

The jowls and trotters are wrapped in squid ink bread and placed on a pork rind. The rest of the ingredients help to improve the presentation and taste of the “tapa”. To shape the beak, bones of the pig’s trotters were used.

Taste:

The taste of the “Trotters” is exquisite, I liked it very much, the mixture of the ingredients is fantastic. For me it is an excellent “tapa” for its flavour.

Healthy score:

When grading if it is unhealthy or very healthy, I have to say that due to the fat content of some ingredients, my rating is 3.
