Introduction Building Blocks for Summer
S
chool is finally over, but what are you going to do now? Yes! You are going to summer school! This year summer school will have many challenges for you. You will be working with Building Blocks for Summer, Book 1. There are many activities in which you will listen, speak, read and write. These activities are fun to do. They are scientifically based, which means researchers have studied these and they highly recommend them for your success. Do you know what research is and what researchers do? Research is the process of collecting and analyzing information to increase and help us understand. The researcher contributes to the understanding of what is being studied communicates that understanding to others. Research in the activities we have prepared for you supports that the development of skills within the parts of speech and the sentence types can lead students to perform better at reading, writing, listening and speaking. Your teachers will take advantage while teaching, and insert mini-lessons on grammar to further strengthen your skills within the context of reading. We hope you enjoy the excitement that’s awaiting for you. Have a wonderful summer and enjoy Building Blocks for Summer, Book 1.
