Melissa Lackey, a Warrensburg, Mo., resident & teacher said the pandemia has changed the way she teaches. “I teach ESOL [English for Speakers of Other Languages] students. Many are fairly new to the country and do not speak English well. My job has changed from teacher of English to teacher of “how-to-survive-onlinelearning. Instead of normal lessons, I do daily check-ins with my students in which they have to respond to a question or writing prompt in a short sentence or short paragraph (in their native language if necessary) that essentially is designed to let me know how they are doing and how I can help them,” Lackey said. During the pandemia Lackey has found help in technology. “I’ve learned that technology is incredibly important,” she said. Lackey uses an app called Talking Points to communicate with families from different backgrounds and she uses screen recording videos to teach their students how to use technology to complete their

Manuel Solano, M.D., who graduated from medical school and did his residency in psychiatry in Colombia, is program director for the Community Health Council of Wyandotte County (Kansas). His other posts have included serving as executive director of behavioral health for the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center. Recently, the doctor, who also has been a part of advisory committees at the state level for workforce development, shared his insights about COVID-19. Dos Mundos: Can you explain what … the coronavirus (is)? Manuel Solano: Many germs can affect human health. Between those germs, there are different qualifications. It’s a virus that was transmitted from animals to humans. This is a virus that initially affects the respiratory tract. The virus is really small, small enough that (a) face mask can’t stop it. However, the masks can protect the virus to not go that far. The virus is transmitted

However, the center is still working on the details for it, so he encourages everyone to call for more information. The center also still offers its regular services, like counseling — except now counseling is provided via telehealth or phone. Therapy is available for individuals, families and children. “That service is available at no charge,” Fierro said. “We know that, right now with the pandemic, … there’s a lot of uncertainty as to what’s gonna happen when we go back to work, so want to be able to help people process those feelings.” Therapy is available in Spanish. Through its youth development program, Mattie Rhodes is providing arts and soccer kits for families for free. “These … kits are one way to help families through this time period,” he said. In addition, Mattie Rhodes’ Northeast office remains open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. “We felt very strongly that, if individuals or families needed our help, they … (could) come to the building and find somebody there,” he said. “We always have … a therapist and a social worker.” To sign up or get more information about these programs, Fierro recommends calling (816) 2413780. If anyone gets sent to voicemail, he suggests leaving a name, phone number and a best time to call, and the center will return the call. “We’re really trying to support the entire family,” he said. “Mattie Rhodes is here, we didn’t close the doors … (and) we’re trying our best to be here for the community.”

When we are children, (the) more (a) virus affects us. That’s why kids get sick frequently when they start going to school. This is because the virus is usually in the environment. As we get used to being exposed, we acquire immunity. We become resilient to viruses. So the next time we get sick, we don’t get affected that hard. But when a new virus appears, we don’t have any kind of defense. That’s why COVID-19 has increased its transmission … (around) the world. No one has been exposed to this before. That’s why we have many cases in the U.S. and the world. That’s why it’s called a pandemic because it’s everywhere. DM: Why do you think that (the) coronavirus is affecting Latinos in the U.S. in bigger numbers? MS: In these moments, we don’t have an explanation. Statistically, we know that (it) is affecting … more Latin and African Americans disproportionately. Even when there isn’t a scientific reason to prove why, we know that there are many reasons that make Latins more exposed to the disease. Latinos tend to suffer more from diabetes, hypertension and suffer from more frequency of asthma diseases. All these predispositions elevate the chances of getting infected. In California – the place with more research about this – the mortality rate, people that die after getting sick, it’s much bigger than the general population. Some explanations link the numbers to the social determinants of health, which include your ZIP code, how many people live in the house and the level of poverty. DM: How can people avoid getting infected and stay healthy? DS: The most important (step) is to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. But as we know, the virus will move through (a) cough and (a) sneeze. We should keep social … distancing. Don’t touch your face, nose and ears, especially when you are in an environment with more people. The best way to protect others is by using a mask and washing your hands frequently. If you use a mask, the probability of contagion reduces. DM: What should you do if you are sick? MS: If you … (think) that your life … (is at) extreme risk, call 911. You need to call the hospital if you feel that the situation … (cannot) wait. … That way, they will be prepared. They will offer you immediate help and you won’t have to wait in the emergency room, … where you can put your and others’ … (lives at) risk. If you have any of the specific symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle and throat pain, headache, loss of taste and smell, and/or diarrhea) but you feel stable, … you need to call your doctor. If you don’t have one, you can call the Department of Health of Wyandotte at 311 and they will send you to the right place. DM: Do you have a message for the Latin community … (in) Kansas City? MS: Please don’t let … (your) guard down. In the fall, there will be a second wave of the disease. History can be a reference. The Spanish flu in 1918 was a pandemic with similar symptoms. Back … (then), people let their guard down. As a result, the second wave caused more deaths than the first one. People need to understand that, even when (the) numbers slow down, the pandemic is not over. The weather is changing, but as soon as the weather gets colder, … the scientific predictions show that it will come back. If we aren’t prepared and don’t follow the instructions, we will have more people infected and more deaths in the community.

ould the current distance learning C format in K-12 education result in widening the achievement gap between
low-income, middle-class and more affluent students? Could it lead to quashing hopes of upward mobility for financially disadvantaged youngsters? Will wrestling with the additional challenges posed by remote learning stiffen the resolve of students and parents to conquer them? Or will it discourage or turn them off? Long before the pandemic closed schools this spring, chronic absenteeism was problematic, especially in low-income urban, suburban and rural areas. It’s only worsened. More students than ever are missing class. Anywhere from 20-to-35 percent of K-12 students haven’t yet participated in online learning, checked in with their teachers or completed any assignments, educators nationwide report. The absence rate appears to be highest in schools with economically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities, English-language learners and students of color in communities where many lack home computers and internet access. A d d i t i o n a l l y, some students and parents have fallen completely out of touch with their schools. They’re unreachable via any form of communication, school administrators report. It’s understandable. Adults are dealing with pressing economic and health and mental health effects of the pandemic. Some are working extra hours or struggling to pay rent or buy groceries. They may not speak English and so don’t understand communications from schools; others may not be literate in their native language. The extended period away from learning in a physical classroom with a professional educator will compound the brain drain that students typically experience each summer. For those who aren’t participating in online or remote learning, the loss could be incalculable. Will they ever be able to catch up? Probably not without repeating their current grade, experts warn. Many skills build on one another so students who miss learning key concepts must go back and master them before progressing to the next level. For better or worse, parents are at present responsible for the education of their children. Whatever their own education level or native language, whatever their knowledge of educational theory and philosophy, parents are setting the schedules and priorities; they’re in charge of home learning. They have some advantages. Unlike classroom teachers with 25 or more students of varying ability levels, parents aren’t constrained by having to employ onesize-fits-all strategies and techniques for all. Each child is different, and each family is different and has different needs and resources. Parents are keenly aware of those. There’s a wealth of online resources to help parents, including parents of children with special needs manage home learning. Metro area school districts, such as Olathe offer “continuous learning opportunities” with grade-level appropriate lessons and activities and additional grade-level appropriate pages and resources for English-language learners and special education students. Edutopia, the George Lucas Educational Foundation’s online magazine offers tips and resources for parents turned home education teachers (https://www.edutopia.org/). Another nonprofit, Common Sense Media partnered with education, technical and media partners to create WideOpenSchool. org. (https://wideopenschool.org/). The platform serves as a universal hub where anyone “can find the best K-12 educational content on the Internet.” Parents working from home or going out to work have a new vital job – facilitating K-12 learning at home. Daunting as it may seem, much depends on it. How well parents succeed has the potential to ensure the continuity of their children’s education or irreparably damage their children’s educational/life prospects.

As an advise to parents, Lackey asks them to Relax. “Parents shouldn’t feel the need to teach their students from 8 am until 3:30 like a normal school day. Also, kids are resilient. This is not going to set them back in their education. Teachers are ready and prepared to close any gap that might come next school year,” Lackey said. Susan Velsor, a teacher in Connecticut has also been affected by the COVID-19 pandemia. “Teaching now looks totally different, I teach to a computer instead of students. As a special ed teacher so much of my instruction was hands on and incorporated movement or manipulative now I have to try and find a way to convey these approaches through the computer,” Velsor said. Velsor misses the interactions with her students and to see them grow. To get her lessons ready, Velsor records herself and finds material that will help their students. “I teach a math class so it takes so much more time to show out the work for equations step by step using a program such as google slides than it would if I could walk through it step by step with students on the board. I would say it takes me at least twice as long to get materials and lessons ready,” Velsor said. Although many parents are overwhelmed with all the things that are going on, Velsor advises to set a time limit and encourage students to do the best they can and work hard. “If your child is struggling contact the teacher because we really are trying to make this the best we can for student success,” Velsor said.

lgunos ciudadanos estadounidenses no recibirán los cheques de estímulo del gobierno federal durante la pandemia del coronavirus. El 21 de abril, multiples medios de comunicación reportaron que ciudadanos estadounidenses casados con inmigrantes sin números de Seguro Social no pueden recibir los pagos. Según el Instituto de Política de Migración, aproximadamente 1.2 millones de inmigrantes están casados con ciudadanos estadounidenses. El Servicio de Impuestos Internos (IRS, por sus siglas en inglés) ha dicho que sólo las parejas casadas en las que ambos socios tienen números de Seguro Social válidos recibirán los cheques de estímulo. ome U.S. citizens will not receive stimulus checks from the federal government during the coronavirus pandemic. On April 21, multiple media outlets reported that U.S. citizens married to immigrants without Social Security numbers are blocked from receiving the payments. According to the Migration Policy Institute, about 1.2 million immigrants are married to U.S. citizens. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has said that only married couples in which both partners have valid Social Security numbers will receive the stimulus checks. That excludes legal immigrants who use an Individual Taxpayer Identification number to file their taxes. On April 24, a lawsuit was filed against the Trump administration over this issue. Filed in Chicago by a man identified only by the pseudonym “John Doe,” the lawsuit alleges the U.S. government discriminated against Doe “based solely on whom he chose to marry,” according to The Hill. The lawsuit targets President Trump, Acting Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Under the CARES act, individuals earning less than $75,000 annually are eligible to receive checks of $1,200 and up to $500 additional aid for their children under the age of 16. Couples who have filed joint tax returns could receive $2,400, if their combined income totaled less than $150,000. However, both partners are required to have a Social Security number for either partner to receive any aid, according to the lawsuit. The suit also states that Doe’s children are excluded because one parent is an immigrant. That means the rule is excluding Doe from a $2,200 check for himself and his children. “That’s money he could use to feed his kids and pay his bills,” Vivian Khalaf, an immigration attorney representing Doe in the case, told NBC News. “The person suffering here is the U.S. citizen — not the person who doesn’t have the Social Security number.” According to the IRS, taxpayers who are citizens and file separately from their immigrant spouses who do not have a Social Security number will receive their half of the payment. Couples who have not filed their tax returns for 2019 still have the chance to file separately to get the stimulus check, experts advise. The filing deadline has been extended to July 15.

n April 16, Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas extended the stay-at-home order across the city until May 15 to try to keep flattening the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Kansas City, Missouri, will do the work necessary to ensure that we’re keeping our community safe,” he said during an April 15 interview with Dos Mundos. During that interview, Lucas praised businesses that had complied with the order and regretted having to close those that did not follow through, despite warnings. “We do not enjoy doing that, but we know it’s essential for the best interest of public health,” he said. As with many cities nationwide, testing remains insufficient, but Lucas said the city is working to make sure more tests become available. In addition, he has talked with hospital leadership to ensure the safety of medical health professionals. Lucas also said the city has worked with organizations to help essential workers and make sure they have the protections needed to do their jobs while ensuring their own safety. In terms of support for small businesses suffering from the coronavirus pandemic, Lucas said the city has a $500,000 Small Business Relief Fund to help Kansas City businesses with fewer than 20 employees. “I would encourage anyone who is in Kansas City to call 311,” he said. “Our goal is to help out small, neighborhood businesses, and that is vital for us in connection with all of this.” Lucas said he is proud of Kansas City and its response to the pandemic. “I think we have seen good progress in terms of flattening the curve,” he said. “I think it’s clear, … had we stayed in our normal course of things, we would have dozens more deaths and hundreds, if not thousands, more infections in this metro (area) – and I’m proud of the steps we’ve taken thus far to try and avoid that.”

Y apenas habían pasado las siete de la mañana del 22 cuando el presidente de México, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, en su diaria conferencia de prensa atacó con más severidad de la acostumbrada a los periodistas que lo critican. ¿Qué tienen en común Trump y AMLO? Que en medio de una pandemia con devastadoras consecuencias de alcance global, y en los momentos más críticos de sus presidencias, ambos decidieron atacar al enemigo equivocado. Los inmigrantes y los periodistas, respectivamente, no son los rivales a vencer en Estados Unidos y México. Y los dos líderes se equivocan distrayendo la atención de sus países cuando toda su energía debería estar concentrada en combatir el mortal virus y sus terribles efectos económicos. Empecemos con Trump. “En vista al ataque del Enemigo Invisible, y para proteger los trabajos de nuestros GRANDES Ciudadanos Estadounidenses”, escribió el presidente Trump en Twitter (la plataforma donde tiene más de 78 millones de seguidores), “firmaré una Orden Ejecutiva para suspender temporalmente la inmigración a Estados Unidos!”. n the evening of April 20, just after 10, President Donald Trump launched an attack on immigrants. On April 22, shortly after 7 in the morning, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador severely criticized reporters for their tough coverage of his administration. What do Trump and López Obrador have in common? In the middle of a devastating pandemic, which has created the gravest crises of their individual presidencies, both men have decided to take on the wrong enemy. Immigrants and journalists are not Trump’s and López Obrador’s respective foes. Both leaders are creating distractions when they should instead be focusing all of their efforts on fighting the coronavirus and its terrible economic effects. Let’s talk about Trump first. “In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens,” Trump tweeted on April 20 to his more than 78 million followers, “I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!” Trump planned to seal America’s borders, using the pandemic as an excuse. Trump has never tried to conceal his antiimmigrant attitudes. In June 2015, as he launched his presidential campaign, he described Mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists. More recently, Trump has referred to the undocumented as “illegal aliens.” And throughout his time in office, he has done everything in his power to build a wall along the Mexican border. But Trump’s threat to suspend immigration to the United States turned out to be nothing more than rhetoric: Although the administration’s order, which will remain in effect for 60 days, affects thousands of foreigners waiting for their green cards, the ruling comes with so many exceptions that hundreds of thousands of other immigrants won’t be effected at all. Experts have said that the president’s decree, supposedly devised to enhance the fortunes of unemployed Americans, will do little to help them. Up until now, more than 50,000 Americans have died of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. After the first confirmed case in the U.S. was announced on Jan. 21, Trump took nearly eight weeks to declare a state of emergency. According to a survey by The Associated PressNORC Center for Public Affairs Research, only 44% of Americans agree with the way Trump is handling the crisis. His symbolic decision to suspend immigration serves two purposes: It pleases his most loyal supporters in the runup to the November presidential election while distracting the broader public from his terrible response to the virus. Trump isn’t the only one inventing enemies in order to obscure his poor handling of the pandemic. The president of Mexico is doing the same thing.
Trump no está solo su estrategia de inventar un enemigo para esconder sus tropiezos ante la pandemia. Lo acompaña el presidente de México. López Obrador tiene tantos problemas reales —la pandemia, la violencia (marzo ha sido el mes más violento de su gobierno), la lucha contra la corrupción, el nulo crecimiento económico, la pobreza y la enorme desigualdad social— que no tiene sentido crearse otro. Pero lo ha hecho: los periodistas. La conducta personal de AMLO ha ido en varias ocasiones en contra de las recomendaciones de los expertos para controlar el coronavirus. En una larga intervención durante una reciente conferencia de prensa, se quejó amargamente de los periodistas y columnistas que critican a su gobierno, a quienes llama conservadores. “No hay en México un periodismo profesional e independiente [...]. ¿Ético? Están muy lejos de eso”, dijo. Es el mismo manual de Trump: en medio de la pandemia AMLO se enfoca en un enemigo falso. Y, como en el caso de la cruzada antiinmigrante del mandatario estadounidense, parece que López Obrador también quiere distraer a la gente de la urgencia de la que será, con probabilidad, la peor crisis de su sexenio. Como en una democracia se le puede responder al presidente y es válido no estar de acuerdo con él, le escribí esto a López Obrador: Señor presidente, muchos de los periodistas que ahora lo criticamos somos los mismos que antes denunciamos y atacamos puntualmente al expresidente Enrique Peña Nieto y a los gobiernos que le precedieron. (Llamé a Peña Nieto “el peor presidente de México” y a Felipe Calderón, “el presidente de los muertos”). Entiendo que en un momento usted y nosotros estuvimos del mismo lado, pero los reporteros no hemos cambiado de lugar. El que cambió fue usted: nosotros seguimos siendo contrapoder y usted ahora es el poder. Por eso lo vigilamos y criticamos. Y lo seguiremos haciendo, especialmente en un momento tan urgente como el que vivimos ahora. Los periodistas independientes no formamos parte de ninguna conspiración. Usted ganó legítimamente la presidencia y debe terminar todos y cada uno de sus seis años. No somos golpistas, conservadores ni fifís, pero no por ello podemos dejar de señalar sus errores ni sus intentos de desviar la atención de una emergencia de salud. Su trabajo es dirigir el país y el nuestro es reportar la realidad con veracidad y cuestionar a la autoridad. Son dos funciones que muchas veces se contraponen. En el pasado usted y yo tuvimos varias entrevistas. Nunca se quejó. Como siempre, yo hacía mis preguntas impertinentes y usted —como siempre también— contestaba a su gusto. De mi parte, nada ha cambiado. Si a López Obrador le va bien, a México le irá bien. Lo mismo a Trump en Estados Unidos. Este no es el momento de peleas. Y mucho menos con enemigos imaginarios. Los dos países necesitan de todos para vencer la pandemia. Hoy no hay nada más importante.
López Obrador, orAMLO, as he’s known, has so many real world problems to deal with in Mexico — the virus, widespread violence (March was the nation’s most violent month since he took power), endemic corruption, economic stagnation, poverty and overwhelming social inequality — that making up a new one doesn’t make any sense. But that’s exactly what the president has done, and it turns out journalists are the big problem. López Obrador has often ignored the recommendations of health experts. Although the World Health Organization declared a pandemic on March 11, calling for “urgent and aggressive action” to confront the virus, AMLO continued to attend large gatherings of his supporters. At a news conference at the beginning of the month he even told them: “You can hug each other; there’s no problem.” Since then, thousands of Mexicans have been infected with the coronavirus. During this time, journalists have done their jobs and reported on the president’s mistakes. It is their duty to challenge a leader who ignores scientific advice and sets a bad example for the population. In a long speech during that April 22 news conference, AMLO complained bitterly about the journalists and columnists who criticize his government and called them conservatives. “In Mexico, journalism is neither professional nor independent. … And ethical? Far from it,” he said. AMLO is using Trump’s playbook: With the pandemic in full swing, he has chosen to focus on a false enemy. And like the American president with his anti-immigrant crusade, Lopez Obrador’s goal is to distract people from the severity of what will very likely be the worst crisis of his six-year term. Mexico is a democracy, which means that we have the right to disagree with our leaders and respond to them directly. With that in mind, I’ve written the following letter to Lopez Obrador: Mr. President, many of the journalists who have criticized you also reported on the poor decisions of former President Enrique Peña Nieto, as well as those of previous administrations. (I myself called Peña Nieto “Mexico’s worst president” and said that Felipe Calderón was “the president of the dead.”) It’s true that in the past you and I were on the same side. But we journalists haven’t turned against you; it is you who have turned against us. It’s our job to challenge those in power, and you are now in power. That’s why we watch you so closely and confront you when we deem it necessary. And we will continue to do so, particularly during a critical moment like this. Independent journalists aren’t part of some conspiracy. You are the legally elected president and should be able to complete your six-year term. The media may not be plotting a coup against you, but we are neither conservative nor “fifi” (“posh”). We have the right to say something when you make mistakes or try to distract attention from a health emergency. Your job is to lead the country; our job is to report the facts and challenge the powerful. Those two tasks are often at odds, but that shouldn’t pose an insurmountable problem. I have interviewed you many times in the past and you never complained. I have always asked impertinent questions, and you always responded however you wanted to. From my perspective, nothing has changed. If López Obrador succeeds in his battle against the pandemic, Mexico will succeed too. The same goes for Trump and the United States. La fundación de la ciudad se desconoce con exactitud pero data del siglo VII. La ciudad cuenta con una densidad de población de cerca de 800 mil habitantes mientras que su área metropolitana supera los 3 millones de habitantes. El idioma base es el polaco, pero la gran mayoría de las personas que se especializan en el sector turístico hablan sin problema el inglés. La moneda oficial es el Zloty, pero al tratarse de una ciudad muy conservadora lo ideal es que cambies un poco de efectivo a la moneda local ya que no en todos los lugares podrás encontrar cajeros o sitios que acepten tarjetas. Los vuelos redondos de Kansas a Cracovia tienen un costo promedio de $1300 y desgraciadamente la gran mayoría de los vuelos cuentan con tres escalas, por lo que deberás considerar ampliamente esto al hacer tu plan de viajes ya que puede llevarte más de un día en completar los trasbordos y vuelos. La mejor manera de moverse por la ciudad sin lugar
a dudas es a pie ya que la ciudad es bastante pequeña para poderla recorrer por completo, pero si por algo deseas moverte rápidamente los taxis son bastante económicos y el sistema de tranvía inaugurado en 1882 cuenta con líneas diurnas y nocturnas que te permitirán moverte libremente a cualquier hora del día. El hospedaje es bastante económico ya que con menos de $30 la noche podrás encontrar una gran variedad de hoteles 3 estrellas, mientras que también podrás encontrar una gran variedad de hoteles 5 estrellas por tan solo $100 la noche. La gastronomía tiene una gran influencia de la turca, alemana, judía, armenia y francesa por lo que encontrarás una gran variedad de platillos típicos. No dejes de probar la sopa Zurek la cual en lugar de utilizarse un plato se sirve dentro de un delicioso pan que podrás disfrutar con tu sopa. También te recomiendo que pruebes las distintas versiones de empanadas Pierogi y los muchos estofados que se hacen en base a la carne de cerdo acompañadas con patatas. Una comida completa tiene un costo promedio de $14 pero si decides probar la comida de los famosos bares de leche te sorprendería que el costo de la comida puede ser de casi la mitad del costo y aún así es de muy buena calidad. Los lugares que deberás conocer en tu próxima visita por la hermosa y antigua ciudad de Cracovia son: *Campo de concentración Auschwitz: fue construido por los alemanes luego de la invasión de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Este fue el mayor campo de concentración establecido por el régimen nazi, en el que fueron asesinados más de 1 millón de judíos. Actualmente puedes ver las distintas exposiciones en las que se muestran las deplorables condiciones en las que vivían los prisioneros, así como muchos de los objetos que fueron robados por los nazis antes de asesinarlos. Este lugar, aunque no se puede considerar como divertido si es imprescindible para tomar conciencia de la clase de acciones que se llevaron a cabo en una de las más trágicas historias del siglo XX. *Castillo de Wawel: es sin duda uno de los complejos arquitectónicos más valiosos en el mundo y el símbolo más representativo de todo Polonia. La colina de Wawel estuvo habitada desde la era paleolítica y luego de miles de años de eso aquí mismo se construyó un castillo de estilo neogótico y que al paso de los años fue sufriendo ciertas modificaciones que lo hicieron cambiar un poco al estilo renacentista. Cuando la ciudad dejó de ser capital de Polonia dejó de ser la residencia de los reyes de Polonia y llegó a estar abandonado por mucho tiempo. Aquí podrás disfrutar de la famosa Catedral de Wawel, la cual es considerada como el centro espiritual de toda Polonia. También podrás conocer el Museo Catedralicio Juan Pablo II que cuenta con una gran variedad de objetos religiosos e insignias de gran valor cultural e histórico. También conocerás la “Cueva del Dragón” en donde según cuenta la leyenda vivía el famoso Dragón de Wawel. Cuenta con unos túneles de casi 300 metros de largo que llegan hasta la orilla del Vístula en donde se encuentra una escultura del dragón; también podrás conocer el Palacio Real, que fue la primer residencia de los reyes de Polonia; fue construido en el siglo XI lo cual lo hace además uno de los sitios más antiguos e históricos de toda la ciudad. *Barbacana: es una de las fortificaciones medievales mejor conservadas de Cracovia. Fue construida en el año de 1499 en respuesta a la ocupación Otomana. Aunque en este lugar no hay gran cantidad de cosas por ver es interesante saber cómo es que se realizaban las fortificaciones en la edad media ya que es una de las pocas que aún se conservan alrededor del mundo. ansas City, Missouri – In reaction to the shortage of protective wear for medical personnel because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a small team of teachers at Frontier Schools are doing their part to help. Mr. Azat Ovezov, Director of Science Curriculum, Shukru Kilic, Engineering Teacher and Islam Kamilov, Computer Teacher, are working tirelessly in their homes with the school’s 3D printers to print and assemble face shields to donate. Each shield takes about four hours to make and only costs about $1.00 in materials. Currently they have produced 60 masks. The team is working with local hospitals, such as Truman Medical Center & Children’s Mercy Hospital to arrange a donation of the shields while they continue to manufacture more shields inside their homes.

Although this place cannot be considered as fun, it is essential in order to become aware of the kind of actions that were carried out in one of the most tragic stories of the 20th century. *Wawel Royal Castle: it is undoubtedly one of the most valuable architectural complexes in the world and the most representative symbol of all Poland. Wawel Hill has been inhabited since the Paleolithic era and after thousands of years of this, a neo-Gothic castle was built right here and, over the years, it underwent certain modifications that made it change a bit into the Renaissance style. When the city ceased to be the capital of Poland, it ceased to be the residence of the kings of Poland and became abandoned for a long time. Here you can find the famous Wawel Cathedral, which is considered the spiritual center of all Poland. You can also visit the John Paul II Cathedral Museum, which has a wide variety of religious objects and insignia of great cultural and historical value. You can also visit the “Dragon’s Cave” where, according to legend, the famous Wawel Dragon lived. It has tunnels almost 300 meters long that reach the shore of the Vistula where there is a sculpture of the dragon.
