El lunes (19 de diciembre), los Wyandotte Angels organizaron su tercer evento anual Santa for Seniors.

El evento tiene como objetivo brindar alegría durante la temporada navideña a las personas mayores en el condado de Wyandotte, Kansas. Fue creado por Jalynda Cervantes y su esposo Martin con la esperanza de reclutar algunas personas para ayudar a los necesitados en el condado.

Cervantes dijo que esperaba recibir a unas 20 personas. Hoy, más de 3,000 personas forman parte de la red Wyandotte Angels a nivel nacional.

“Ha sido increíble lo mucho que ha explotado”, dijo. “Nunca pensé que explotaría así. Eso te muestra cuánto quiere dar la gente y saber que va a la causa correcta”.

On Monday (Dec. 19), the Wyandotte Angels staged their third annual Santa for Seniors event.

The event aims to bring joy during the holiday season to seniors in Wyandotte County, Kansas. It was created by Jalynda Cervantes and husband Martin in hopes of recruiting a few people to help those in need in the county.

Cervantes said she expected to get about 20 people. Today, more than 3,000 people are part of the Wyandotte Angels network nationwide.

“It’s been amazing how much it’s blown up,” she said. “I never thought it would blow up like that. That shows you how much people want to give and know that it’s going to the right cause.”

Cervantes said Santa for Seniors was born out of her desire to honor her parents. She lost them back to back three years ago.

Credit for those admirable qualities goes in large part to Lionel Messi, one of the world’s best soccer players and a team leader. Right after winning the tournament, Messi issued a statement saying he would continue playing with Argentina’s men’s national team.

“I will not retire. I want to continue playing as a champion,” Messi told reporters.

Messi’s words should inspire and thrill all fans of Argentinian soccer. They’ll continue to see one of the world’s top players continue to make magic on the field, magic that’s reflected in the 42 trophies Messi has won, including club soccer trophies. They also should be thrilled to know the team will continue making history, given the new talent that will complement Messi, such as Paulo Dybala and Julian Alvarez.

Why aren’t we limiting the number of firearms manufacturers can produce for sale in the U.S.? Guns have an unusually long lifespan. Users of Quora, the question-and-answer Website asked this question: “How long do firearms owned by average gun owners last in the USA?” Users of the site agreed: “150 to 200 years if the owner oils it and does regular cleaning and maintenance.”

We’re the only nation in the world where civilian guns outnumber people, 393 million to 332 million. And every year, U.S. gun manufacturers produce upwards of 11.1 million more firearms. How many guns in civilian hands do we need?

White House announces COVID-19 winter preparedness plan La Casa

An increase the past few months in COVID cases nationwide has prompted the White House to announce a new COVID19 winter preparedness plan.

“While COVID-19 is not the disruptive force it once was, the virus continues to evolve and cases are on the rise again, as families are spending more time indoors and gathering for the holidays,” the Biden administration said in a statement.

The plan includes the distribution of free COVID-19 tests, available through COVIDTests.gov. Households nationwide are eligible to order four home COVID-19 tests.

The Biden administration also announced that people who don’t have internet access or need support in placing an order may call 1-800-232-0233 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Support in multiple languages is available, including Spanish.

In addition, free tests will be available at various locations, including schools, community health centers, rural health clinics and long-term care facilities.

COVID-19 symptoms include fever or chills, coughing, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches, the loss of taste or smell, a sore throat, congestion, nausea and diarrhea. Anyone experiencing those symptoms is advised to be tested and follow a doctor’s instructors.

Kansas City has won seven straight division titles. The Chiefs secured their latest title – and an AFC playoff berth – Sunday (Dec. 18) with a 30-24 overtime win over Houston at NRG Stadium. Jerick McKinnon helped the Chiefs clinch the title and playoff berth by ripping off a 26-yard TD run for the game-winning touchdown.

“It was great blocking, man,” McKinnon told reporters. “I didn’t even get touched on the play. … They made it easy for me, man.”

A turnover set up McKinnon’s touchdown. Facing first-and-10 from the Houston 13-yard line, Texans quarterback Davis Mills dropped back to pass. Forced to elude Kansas City’s pass rush, Mills opted to run instead. After a 2-yard gain, Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark stripped the ball from Mills. Linebacker Willie Gay Jr. recovered the fumbled football from the bottom of a stack of players.

“It was a big play by Frank … to give us a chance … to win the game,” McKinnon said.

Mills also complimented Clark on making the play.

“(Clark) punched it out and it was a fumble,” he said during his postgame press conference. “Obviously, you (have) got to protect the football there. Very critical situation in the game, when all you need is a field goal down in overtime after the defense made a big-time stop to get them off the field and get us the ball back.”

Mills was referring to the NFL’s regularseason overtime rules and the events that had led to Houston getting possession. Per league rules, a team can win in overtime with a field goal only after the opening possession fails to produce a touchdown. The Chiefs had the opening possession of overtime, driving from their own 9 to their 45, where they punted.

Because the Chiefs and Texans had possessed the ball once, the Chiefs could’ve ended it with a field goal after the turnover. McKinnon, however, made that option unnecessary.

Montes, de 25 años, fue campeón del Apertura 2019 con Monterrey y ganó la Liga de Campeones de la CONCACAF en 2019 y 2021. Además, ganó la Copa Oro del del 2019 con la selección mexicana.

Montes seguirá los pasos de otros jugadores mexicanos que han jugado en el equipo “periquito” como Francisco Palencia, Germán Villa, Héctor Moreno, Diego Reyes y Taufic Guarch.

Los Royals empezaron a reforzar para la temporada 2023

Los Kansas City Royals empezaron a hacer ruido en la agencia libre al sumar la semana pasada al lanzador Ryan Yarbrough por una temporada.

Yarbrough de 30 años, tiene una conexión directa con el manager Matt Quatraro. Ambos fueron a la misma escuela, Old Dominion.

Yarbrough llega como agente libre luego de haber estado cinco años con los Tampa Bay Rays donde tuvo marca de 40-31 con un ERA de 4.33 en 127 duelos.

Para hacer espacio a Yarbrough en el equipo, los Royals tuvieron que canjear a Wyatt Mills a los Boston Red Sox por el lanzador de ligas menores Jacob Wallace.

Kansas City no va a descansar con estos movimientos y han dicho que en los próximos días habrá más noticias. Se ha sabido que Zack Greinke podría regresar por un año más aunque no ha sido confirmado por ninguna de las partes.
