Lieutenant Governor’s Message Hello Division 14, Welcome to the April/May Newsletter! If anything in here brings up questions, I am always available for you. We have started off the service year so strong, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of it brings us. Feel free to share these with anyone wishing to see them! It will highlight how the best things our Division has recently done. We started off the year with a Divisional with Saranac Lake and Lake Placid in attendance. I would really like to have another one when the new school year commences! Seniors-thank you for your service. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors! Yours in Service, Erica Swirsky

Leadership Training Conference On March 31st through April 2nd, the 69th Annual Leadership Training Conference was held in Albany, New York. Over 850 people gathered to celebrate a fantastic year of service. The new District Board was appointed and we went head first into the new year! I had so much fun, and I cannot wait to attend next year. If you are interested in attending the 70th Annual Leadership Training Conference (Birthday Bash themed), be excited! It would be great to see some great Division 14 representation! “The Leadership Training Conference (LTC) was an amazing experience for me. Prior to attending, I didn’t know that Key Club was as big as it is. I didn’t know about all of the organizations and awards and such. Seeing all of these things make me want to have a more involved Key Club. I enjoyed it before, but LTC has opened my eyes to what Key Club really is. Even with only 2 people from Saranac Lake, “We felt good, oh we felt so good! Oh!” - Danielle Gonyea

Who am I? My name is Erica Swirsky and I attend Saranac Lake High School as a sophomore. I have been an active Key Club member since the beginning of my Freshman year and service has become a big part of my life. This year, I would really like to focus on the larger scale projects. We have the potential to make HUGE positive changes. The District and Governor’s projects are two ways that involve us more with the District level of Key Club and allow us to fundraise for a bigger cause. Another big goal I have is to increase communications between the clubs/their officers and me. Communication is KEY and with it we can accomplish some amazing things.

International Convention The International Convention is being held In San Antonio, Texas from July 5th-9th. Key Clubbers from around the world will be meeting and talking about the benefit of service. For the first time in awhile, we will have Division 14 representation at the International Convention (ICON). I could not be more excited to go learn and bring back knowledge for the Division! You can check out the candidate booklet here.

At our April Divisional, Lake Placid and Saranac Lake gathered to make dog toys for the local animal shelter!

On May 31st, Saranac Lake held their seasonal Big Buddy! They invite younger students to come eat snacks and play games for a few hours!

“It’s great to be able to have fun and have an impact on the community. These kids love being around us and really look up to all of us as role models.” - Witter Swanson

For Teacher Appreciation Day, Saranac Lake High School potted baby spider plants for each of their teachers and faculty members.

After inspiration at the Leadership Training Conference, Saranac Lake students started the YUDA Bands project. This project has the students sell handmade bracelets to benefit a student from Guatemala and help them receive an education.

It was a pleasure selling the YUDA Bands and knowing that it’s going to a great cause made everything worth while. -Almedina Cirikovic
