100% ROUGHWAY 100% PUREBRED REGISTERED HOLSTEINS M I L K

RETIREMENT: One thing I really miss is seeing the cows out on pasture when the weather was nice, which you do not see hardly at all any more in these parts, and then seeing the cows in the tiestall barn when the weather was not so nice. It was a great lifestyle to have lived and enjoyed. And I also remember, around 35-40 years ago when I lived at Norwalk, Iowa, just south of Des Moines. When a group of Holstein classifiers would meet at our place every so often from the Midwest and look over a few of our purebred Holstein cows and talk about different ways they might do things when it comes to scoring the cows, etc. It was a very good time and a learning experience as a young man working with the purebred Holstein cow. And when I moved to Castalia, Iowa on June 14, 1987, 26 years ago. One time a few of us Holstein breeders met with some Holstein classifiers in Decorah, Iowa, at the Stone Hearth Inn Restaurant and Lounge when they were classifying in northeast Iowa in the month of March. We watched one of the Final Four college basketball games and had a meal together and talked over the Holstein cow, etc. But today it seems like it’s run, run with them and out the door, as much as I know, whatever.

As of April 5, 2013, I retired from milking 100% Registered Holsteins. I had a small herd left to sell and Courtney Sales did a REALLY good job of getting things ready for the sale. I did have a small attendance for the sale, which I thought would happen. But the animals were spread out to five different states and were really nickeled and dimed that day, but the nickels and dimes will turn into fifty-cent pieces and silver dollars for the new owners, and that is what counts to me. It will be really great hearing what takes place the next five years or so.This will also depend on a lot of things, such as how many heifer calves are born, etc. Time will tell. My bulk tank is now empty and I am buying milk for the first I really don’t know where to start, but I will try to keep this as short as possible. The subject is about our National Holstein Assn the last three years. I have seen with my own eyes and have heard from other Holstein breeders across the country things that would shock you deeply if you cared. It doesn’t happen to everyone, it is a hit and miss thing, and it needs to be stopped in my book. Maybe some breeders don’t realize it’s going on with them and overlook it if they don’t really pay attention to business. As much as I know, there are at least four staff or employees who need to be brought to the

And then, as far as the National Holstein Association the last few years, it is very noticable that all they really care about is how many grade cattle they can get registered in the ID program, and then they work on giving more and more breaks to that program, and then more and more breaks are given the larger your herd is. Who are we working for, China?

What would happen if all you could buy were American-made things? Our labor force would be more stable and better, and we would learn to be not so wasteful in many ways, and learn to make down payments on things like cars, trucks, and homes. There is a thing as too much government and government control. What kind of country will we leave for our children? We as a nation are at a crossroads. Will we embrace the concept that we are “one nation under God” and all that entails, or will we journey further down the path toward socialism? “A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday does not know what it is today. Nor what it is trying to do,” warned President Woodrow Wilson nearly one hundred years ago. In the same speech, he also remarked, “America was born a Christian nation,” and he warned us we are trying to do a futile thing if we do not know where we came from or what we have been about.” The nation’s largest granite monument is located in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This 81-foot-tall stature of a woman with her finger

“When a Nation Forgets God” details seven lessons we must learn from Nazi Germany. It reveals that pre-Nazi society in Germany had repudiated forgiveness and kicked down the cross of the Lord. How did it happen? Seven important indicators that our nation is on a very similar trajectory: separating God from government and silencing the church; making the economy supreme; giving the media control of beliefs; allowing lawmakers to dictate behavior; the ever-increasing debt our country carries, trillions and trillions each year; the government takeover or regulation of private industry and much of the economy; the dangerous accommodation and appeasement of Muslim radicals.

All the Pilgrims wanted was full religous liberty to worship Jesus Christ in the purity of the Gospel. But in modern America, as we move toward what we could call a secular new world, religious liberty appears to be at very, very high risk. Like I have said before, President Ronald Reagan put it best when he said, “If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

This is about faith, about God and our beloved country, and it paints a telling picture of where America is, and where we could be heading. According to the latest Pew Forum on religion and public life, the percentage of Protestant adults in the US has hit an all-time low of 48%. 20% of Americans say they have no religious affiliation at all.

Do these headlines sound familiar? Ten Commandments taken down, “under God” removed from the Pledge, prayer prohibited, Nativity scenes banned, Salvation Army defunded, Boy Scouts sued, Christmas carols stopped, Bible called hate speech. It was said the last ones in the boat (atheists) think the boats are too crowded, and they’re trying to push out of the boat the very ones who created tolerance, the Christians. It is very sad when you have an immoral society that has blatantly and proudly violated all of the commandments of God.

On May 1, 2013, I stepped outside and saw nine different kinds of birds and three wild ground animals, and on June 1, 2013, I stepped outside and saw thirteen different kinds of birds, plus three different kinds of wild ducks on the pond, and seven different kinds of wild ground animals. Nature at work and having fun. It would be really nice if everyone across our country had the opportunity to see things of that nature each day. That is what makes life for us in any ways, but then there are many people who care less about real life and nature. It’s a blessing to see nature of all kinds.

AI studs now own a lot of the dams of bulls today, and some of them are virgin heifers that have bulls in stud, and they push the buttons as they want and are living the fast-paced life of

The Pilgrims were an amazing group who helped set a spiritual tone for the nation to be. They extolled the virtues of freedom of religion, free enterprise, peace with the Native Americans, and so on. I think a strong case can be made that in their agreement for self government under God, the Mayflower Compact (1620), the Pilgrims helped lay the cornerstone of our two key founding documents of about 150 years later, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. America’s first great historian, George Bancroft, asserted, “In the cabin of the Mayflower, humanity recovered its rights, and instituted government on the basis of equal laws enacted by all the people for the general good.”

The Bible says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9 NKJV. Heros can still make a difference.

one, China’s money talks to many people more every day.

In the AI industry today there are more and more percentage bulls than ever before. Some bull studs have more than 40 in their lineup, and now there are real good purebred breeders using percentage bulls on 100% purebred cattle. Money talks to a lot of people, and not common sense and respect for the purebred breed of Holsteins.

pointed to Heaven (the source of our blessings) commemorates the Pilgrims and the positive influence this small group of believers had on our nation. The statue honors faith, as the overarching source of virtue. Then it depicts liberty, morality, law, and education.

If we don’t learn these lessons, think of all we stand to lose, like freedom of religion, freedom of speech, the sanctity of life and marriage, all that makes America, the land of the free. There is so much that can be lost in just one generation or even in just one election; so much freedom, so much faith, ethics, and morality. God forbid that we should be the generation to lose our nation.

Christianity gave birth to tolerance. “Therefore whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the law and the prophets.” Matthew 7:12 NKJV. The Bible says woe to those who call evil good and good evil.

“When science becomes an idol, it’s always bad science, and that’s what we’re getting in many ways.”

People have laughed at me when I said about three years ago that it will be very hard to buy bottled milk in the stores across the nation. As of last year, less than 18% of milk produced in our nation is bottled, and that is going down more and more every year. More and more powdered milk is taking its place, plus all of the other dry milk products. Plus other countries are taking more control of our milk and cheese plants. Like for

National Holstein Board of Directors and asked about seven different questions, and see how they respond to each, and this would include our Holstein Regional Representative.

Debt and more debt, is there anything stable across the US? More and more money that we do not have is spent on grants and more grants. Drugs and pills of all kinds, more bad than good.We try to make things grow faster, whether humans or livestock of all kinds, almost everything is built around speed. There is a limit to all that.

You may not want to think about it. I may shock you. I believe, for the sake of the future of America, that America today appears to be on the same path as the nation of Germany prior to World War II.

time in my life of 68 years. I am now going to the town of Waukon, Iowa to WW Homestead Dairy, where two dairy farmers have opened up a dairy together and are bottling their own milk that is pasteurized but is not homogenized and is bST free, the closest thing to my own milk. It is a great thing to see more dairies doing that across the country.

genomics. Yes, people, there are a lot of great Holsteins out there, purebred or grades, but we are crossing over the line in many, many ways, no matter if it is the year 1900 or 2013. I think that someone or a group of purebred Holstein breeders, young and old, should start a Purebred Holstein Association and purebred only. And let Brattleboro go out the door with China. And purebred breeders close the door to purebred cattle. If this global way of life can’t be corrected by Brattleboro, it takes people with a strong backbone to do that.

The Bible says that inheritances should go from the fathers unto the sons, but we have reversed that concept. We are taking from our sons, and our grandsons. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the younger generation today says, when it reaches maturity, “Phooey on the whole bunch of you!” and just cuts us all off. In Isaiah 51:8 (NKJV) the Lord says, “My righteousness will be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation.” “In the name of God” is where America began and, though they have long been dead, the Pilgrims may still speak to us through this granite monument, that we might learn something of grand ideals, those spirited truths, that so gripped their lives and so changed the world. With a “Statue of Liberty” we see a man dressed in Roman armor and in his arms a sword faced backward, so that it is not threatening, with a conquered lion over his back. Here is depicted that the Pilgrims sought liberty of conscience, religious liberty, and civil liberty. Morality is depicted holding the Ten Commandments in one hand and the scroll of the book of Revelation in the other. At the back of this great Plymouth statue is education. For 210 years, from 1620 to 1830, virtually all the education in this country was private and religious, Christian in nature, with very few exceptions.

Breaking it down further, 1/3 of adults under age 30 have no religious affiliation, compared to just 9% of people 65 and older, and aren’t expected to become religiously active as they age. If this heartbreaking trend continues, what will the future look like for our country? Blessed is the nation whose God is Lord. What is needed in our country today is undeniable: Biblical truth and increased relationship with the Lord. America is suffering spiritually. Our country needs to see the light that you and I can share. Money. We spend much of every waking day working for it. Millions of Americans are up to their eyebrows in debt, even many Christians. In fact, total US consumer debt is now up to 2.5 trillion. Of those who owe credit card debt, the average debt per household is nearly $16,000, according to the Federal Reserve G19 report Feb 2012. How can you be generous Christians if you’re in so much debt? The Bible says, “The rich rules over the

Studies show that missing fathers truly affect the well-being of children. More than a third of children who live with a single mother are mired in poverty, versus just 6.2% of children in married, two-parent families. Teens growing up in a mother-headed household puts girls at greater risk of teen pregnancy. The risk of abuse is almost double in single-parent homes than in homes with a dad and a mom. Substance abuse goes up when the father is absent from the home. The odds of spending time in jail are markedly higher for those in father-absent households. The National Longitudinal Survey of Youth found obesity more likely for children in father-absent homes. Divorce rate is over 50% in the US, and a staggering 41% of all births in America are out of wedlock.

poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” Proverbs 22:7 NKJV. And, “The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.” Proverbs 21:20 TLB. The scriptures also teach that we should give, we should tithe. The word tithe means ten percent, a good place to start. Some debt is ok, it depends on how you get it. Money is ok, depends on how you receive it. Today we live in a land filled with idols, money, fame, obsession with possessions. If Hell were just a man-made doctrine, that would be of no concern. But Hell is a real place, taught in the Bible and declared by Jesus himself. We’re all born sinners, but there is a difference in some sins. Remember this: “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.” God gave it to us for our use as a stewardship, but stewards, we were commanded to return the tithe to God. That tenth was His, and we are not to keep it. Otherwise, we are stealing from God.

There are approximately 25.3 million non-citizens in the US, of which the government estimates 10.8 million are without authorization. 61% of these unauthorized immigrants have lived in the US for 10 years or more. Some years back you came to the US to be an America citizen and live our life style, etc. Not any more, just about anything goes. We American citizens are to help everyone in the world, but you do not lose your Christian way of life in the process. Some of the noncitizens, plus some citizens, work on some of our weak American citizens and strong ones too, and try changing their beliefs and work against us. We see that more and more every day.
