HRL StableEDGE is a range of aluminium edging for paths and perimeters, suitable for use with precast pavers/slabs, asphalt, resin-bonded surfaces, poured rubber, concrete and stabilised gavel. Available for straight or curved configurations, StableEDGE offers secure, structurally stable and unobtrusive containment of hard and soft landscaping. Its fast installation time ensures the system is highly cost-effective.

• StableEDGE structural edge restraints StableEDGE edge restraints are suitable for where structural secure edges are required to resist vehicle wheel loading and where mechanical compaction of the construction is required.

(Typically this would apply to asphalt, resinbonded, self-binding aggregate and pavers where mechanical installation is involved.) The L-shaped section is offered in 2.4m lengths as standard and 2m lengths to order, complete with connectors and 250mm spiral steel stakes. Standard depths of 50, 64, 75 and 100mm are readily available, with other depths produced to order.

They are very fast to install and cope with both straight and curved requirements without any cost penalty. The result is a non-rusting, nonrotting, elegant and unobtrusive edging solution.

• StableEDGE Border edging StableEDGE Border is a lighter duty garden edging for lawns, gravel paths, patios, and any situation where lateral loading from vehicles and fill compaction is not applicable.

Supplied as standard at 10cm deep in 2m lengths (also available at 2.4m) in mill finish aluminium, the system comes complete with a secure joint/stake arrangement, which can facilitate both straight runs and curves.

NatraTex® is a range of bespoke coloured asphalt surface courses from the BituChem Group. It is a direct replacement to a conventional macadam surface course for applications including main carriageways, residential roads, footpaths, cycleways, multi-use games areas (MUGA), car parks, playgrounds and driveways. NatraTex® is a cost-effective alternative to other aesthetic surfaces and offers considerable ongoing savings.

SureSet, established in 1997, manufactures, installs and supplies UV resin paving systems.

• SureSet resin bound systems SureSet resin bound systems deliver a permeable, durable, accessible surface. The finish is safe, UVstable and bound, ensuring there is no loose stone. It is suitable for public areas, car parks, playgrounds, entrance areas, tree pits and pathways.

SureSet resin bound systems mix aggregate, marble or recycled materials together with a clear UV-stable resin. During this process, each particle of stone is fully covered in resin and laid immediately onto a stable base. The finished depth of a resin bound paving surface varies between 12 and 24mm depending on the size and type of stone used, as well as the application.

It is a low-energy, cold-applied process that is compliant with (SuDS) Sustainable urban Drainage Systems, eliminating standing water.

Established in 1995, DCM Surfaces is a national contractor providing bound and bonded surfaces for new build and renovation projects, including resin bound gravel, resin bonded gravel, selfbinding gravel and rubber-gravel mix.

• Resin bound gravel A high-performance SuDS-compliant, porous aggregate bound system. Available in a range of colours and blends, the surface provides an extremely hard-wearing, visually attractive finish.

• Self-binding gravel An easy-to-lay alternative to traditional materials such as flags, paving, macadam or concrete. The gravel binds together when rolled to provide a self-compacted surface which is firmer underfoot than conventional loose aggregate. Self-binding gravel is suited to a wide spectrum of applications, including domestic driveways, golf courses and rural footpaths.

• Rubber-gravel mix Combines the flexibility of rubber with the strength, appeal and durability of natural stone aggregate. Rubber-gravel mix can be used as a base underneath products like wet pour, artificial grass or bound gravel, or as a stand-alone surface.

Porous and slip resistant, rubber-gravel mix allows for sustainable drainage in cities, towns and the countryside.

• Sienna reactive concrete stain Sienna creates a permanent variegated, stone-like effect to the concrete surface which is natural and mineral in appearance.

• Sorrento penetrating stain Sorrento can offer similar finishes but over a wider spectrum of colour. These penetrating stains provide colour choices normally either very difficult or expensive to achieve on concrete. For example, a truly black, black is produced, as are intense blues, greens and reds.

• Colchem Classic Landscape Colour This pre-dosed colour addition is introduced at the mixing stage, which removes the risk of inconsistent or incorrect manual dosing and ensures a low-risk solution.

• Whispercast exposed aggregate system Whispercast incorporates depth-controlled aggregate reveal, penetrating sealers and admixtures to restrict segregation of aggregate within the mix. It provides a consistent, predictable and attractive concrete surface.

• Whispercast MicroETCH This variation on the above, uses HRL Micro retarders and etching gels to create a very lightly exposed, slip-resistant finish. It is often used in conjunction with Colchem Classic colour addition for subtle texture and variation.

• Surface protection and maintenance Penetrating sealers ensure long-term enrichment of the finish. Available in satin sheen, invisibly matt or colour-enhanced matt, they add a pleasing aesthetic, UV-resistant, dirt and stain protection.

Ketley quarry tiles, sometimes also known as paving tiles, are available in a range of natural clay Staffordshire colours and three different sizes, a square, a paver size and a brick size.

For restoration projects, the tiles offer a very good match to the discontinued Hawkins, Daniel Platt and Dennis Ruabon quarry tiles which can be found in many parts of the UK. They offer excellent slip resistance and suit most flooring applications, both externally and internally, in commercial or domestic premises.

AntiSlip Plus® maintains the natural beauty of a timber deck while providing a durable and slipresistant surface. It provides enhanced grip where there is a high level of pedestrian traffic, making it suitable for all public access areas including decks, bridges and boardwalks.

CitiDeck® is a smooth deckboard with enhanced grip. It is particularly suited to urban environments and inclusive access. The smooth board gives a level surface for wheelchair users and the less able. It is also very easy to keep clean as it does not harbour dirt.

A step profile is available for use with AntiSlip Plus® and CitiDeck® boards. This has a wide yellow anti-slip strip for ease of visibility and secure footing.

Composition and manufacture Deck boards are manufactured from selected joinery grade European Redwood.

AntiSlip Plus® incorporates resin-based aggregate inserts, injected into specially formed grooves in the deck board. Castellated or smooth profiles are available.

CitiDeck® uses a less abrasive grit for a more even surface.

AntiSlip Plus® and CitiDeck® are available with a choice of two or three inserts and in a variety of colours for highlighting changes in surface level.

• Environmental considerations Deck boards are supplied with full chain of custody and are either FSC or PEFC accredited.

Composition and manufacture Because CTS designs and manufactures in house, designs can be produced in all-timber, all-steel, all-FRP or a combination of materials. Products range from simple short-span bridges to bespoke long-span structures, and accurately match the budgetary restraint of individual schemes, thereby saving on costly separate consultancy fees.

• Non-motorised user bridges Nusteel fabricated its first footbridge in 1967.

Since then the company has designed, fabricated and installed more than a thousand bridges over roads, rivers and railways. These structures carry pedestrians, cyclists and equestrian users.

• Rail bridges Nusteel supplies a variety of rail bridges for public transport organisations including London Underground and Network Rail. Anti-vandal and anti-access measures can include solid cladding and mesh canopies. All bridges are supplied to DDA requirements.

• Beam bridges Nusteel fabricates and installs all forms of plated beam bridges ranging from small single-span to long multi-span bridges. Plated bridges include those carrying road and rail over infrastructure such as road, rail and water. They can be produced from weathering grade steel or mild steel painted to NH and NR specifications.

10m-long height barrier – Eurotunnel

A full design and build service is provided, including the refurbishment and modifications of existing gantries, and the removal and disposal of existing structures.

Nusteel also works with specialist electrical contractors to carry out cabling and communication installations so that the structures can be delivered to site as fully completed elements.

Delivery An in-house transport team organises permits and route management for delivery to site.
