RESPONSIBLE DRINKING

When shared in a fully responsible way, alcohol can be part of a lifestyle that includes good diet and exercise. On the other hand, excessive drinking can have harmful effects on your health. Take care of yourself, and keep your body and mind healthy!

TIPS FOR RESPONSIBLE DRINKING

> STAY HYDRATED: Enjoying more than a few alcoholic drinks during a short period of time can increase the risk of dehydration. A mix of dehydration and alcohol consumption can cause deteriorations in cognitive performance.

> PACE YOURSELF: Drinking water helps pace yourself to avoid overconsumption: alternate your drinks with water or non-alcoholic beverages.

> KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DRINKING: Understand the strength of your drink and the size of your serving.

>RESPECT: Some people choose not to drink. Always respect their choice.

> HAVE SOME FOOD: Eating food before and while you drink will slow down the absorption of alcohol, but it will not prevent you from getting drunk.

> SAFE JOURNEY HOME: Plan ahead on how you will get to and from events and then back home safely.

ENM AS A SAFE ENVIRONMENT

As ESN Portugal, we are commited to create a safe and respectful environment for all, where you can be whoever you want to be and create the most amazing memories! As such, there is a zerotolerance policy for any disruptive behaviour or harassment of any kind. If you see someone struggling, help them or seek help!

Remember that no means no, no matter when, and that alcohol never justifies any kind of assault.

Every ESN volunteer will be there to provide support and to make sure you feel safe and are having fun. If you witness or experience any kind of harassment or are the victim of an inappropriate behavior, you can report it to any member of the organisation.
