INTRODUCTION

TEAM20 is people-oriented, with the purpose of diversified exchanges, encouraging 20 something to use innovative perspectives and cross-domain thinking to put for ward unique opinions and propositions. We focus on graduation design works, listening to the voices of the 20th generation of youth, discussing architecture, urban and rural development, environmental planning, and the imagination and practice about people and land.

The 8th TEAM20 Architecture and Urban Planning Graduation Project Competition, which is organized by Cross-Strait Urban and Industrial Planning Federation, Department of Architecture of National Cheng Kung University, School of Architecture of Tianjin University and School of Architecture of South China University of Technology, and Taiwan Institute of Urban Planning, Nanjing University Alumni Association of Taiwan and Ensemble Urbain Innovation Co. It is one of the few international architecture competitions in the world. This year, the competition is held online due to Covid-19 pandemic. In 2013 when the event was first held, the number of participating schools was 10 from Taiwan and China each. Now the number has increased to 72 schools across 17 places including Asia, Europe, America and Oceania. The jury panel consists of 88 professors and professionals, aiming to create a truly international graduation project competition for architecture students. Besides from students' graduation projects, TEAM20 also actively offers online platform to connect the students worldwide to showcase their best works. This is named "A Daily Joy of TEAM20". We hope the competition becomes more than an annual event, but a platform for all the creative minds and good ideas. Besides the "competition" section, one can also find "TEAM20 Life", "TEAM20 Database" on our website. The Database includes all the excellent submissions we have received in the previous competitions. It offers a place for the students to search for project bases, utilize materials as well as inspirations needed for their graduation projects and also showcase their work. Members can also archive and organize the projects for future references.


以人為本,聚合心的力量,以多元交流為宗旨,鼓勵二十世代青年,運用創新角 度,跨域的思維提出獨到見解與主張。聚焦於畢業設計作品,傾聽二十世代青年的 聲音,探討建築、城鄉發展、環境規劃以及人與土地的想像及實踐。 2020 年第八屆「TEAM20 建築與規劃新人獎」,由兩岸城鄉統籌規劃暨產業聯合 會、成功大學建築學系、天津大學建築學院、華南理工大學建築學院、都市計畫學 會、南京大學臺灣校友會、皇延創新股份有限公司等七大單位共同主辦。 是目前少有同時聚焦建築與規劃領域的國際競圖,今年活動首次改為全線上舉辦, 秉持著擴大多方交流的宗旨,邀請各地建築及城鄉規劃相關院校加入。自 2013 年 兩岸各 10 所學校開始,至今年擴大包含來自亞洲、歐洲、美洲以及大洋洲等 17 地, 共 72 所學校一同參與。88 位來自各國的專家教授與專業評審共同組成評審團,打 造國際建築與規劃畢業設計競圖。 TEAM20 除了關注青年學子的畢業設計,也積極運用線上平台串聯活動,展出各 地優秀青年建築師的實體構築,建立溝通交流和互相學習的舞台,開創「A Daily Joy of TEAM20」,期許 TEAM20 不單是一年一度的活動,而是能進一步創造 即時薈萃創新創意的平台,讓好作品有更多被看到而合作的可能。目前官方網站 (www.team20.org) 除了「活動競賽」,更上線了「建築生活」︑「建築與規劃畢 業設計資料庫」等內容,其中建築與規劃畢業設計資料庫的功能,收錄活動至今精 采的歷屆參賽作品,提供畢業設計相關基地與議題查找、運用、蒐集靈感之外,還 可運用會員功能整理、收納喜歡的作品,也能讓同學分享精彩的畢業設計作品。

TEAM20 今年已是第八年舉辦,前七年,為海峽兩岸各 10 校的建築與城鄉規劃系的大學 畢業設計作品及師生學術交流及評論活動,自今年 2020 年起成功的轉型為全球性活動, 且成為全球最具規模及競爭力的學生畢業設計競賽活動之一。 今年雖因為疫情影響,首次將競賽搬到線上舉行,卻也因此創下許多歷年之最。透過線 上的交流,串起更多建築與規劃青年學子,匯聚更多優秀創作,也創下了以下的活動紀錄: — 最多參與學校:參與 72 所學校,不只兩岸更有許多來自各地的建築院校。 — 最多參賽作品:參賽作品共 183 件 ( 建築組 110 件、規劃組 73 件 )。 — 最多評審委員:今年除了邀請院校教師擔任評審,為了促進產學接軌,給同學們更多 深度建言,邀請業界的專家評審共同加入,今年總共 88 位評審。這是一項難得的成就。 對參與學生而言,「畢業設計」(Thesis Design)是一個邁向真實社會的過程,每一件 參與學生的設計作品都是學生們的社會發展提問,也許不成熟,但感受得到學生以設計 或規劃的專業語彙為自己的提問所做的最誠摯的表達,令人印象深刻,也因此,在面臨 世紀疫情的同時,我們有理由樂觀面對未來的挑戰。感謝所有參與學生,評審老師及參

As we celebrate TEAM20's 8th birthday this year, we look back on our history. The event started out as an event for the cross-strait academic exchanges between students and teachers in the architecture field. Starting this year, the competition has successfully turned into one of the most competitive and the biggest international graduation project competitions. Although the competition is held online this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we also set a lot of firsts as a result. Through online interactions, we connect more students from around the world and have set the following records this year: - Most participating schools: 72 schools worldwide - Most submitted projects: A total of 183 projects submitted (110 for Architecture category, 73 for Urban Planning) - Most juries: Besides the architecture professors, we also invited licensed architects to help connect the academic field and the industry. We are greatly honored to have a total of 88 juries on board this year.This is a rare achievement. For all the participating students, Thesis Design is a process to step out in the real world. Each project represents a question raised by the student regarding the society and the world around them. These projects/questions may be premature. Nevertheless, their earnest emotion expressed with professional architecture languages to answer their own questions are very impressive. Therefore, we have reasons to be optimistic about the future challenges given the harsh circumstances of the pandemic right now. I would like to thank all the participants, the juries and the schools, with a special thanks to the Committee of TEAM20 Architecture and Urban Planning Graduation Project Competition, all the staff, the Cross-Strait Urban and Industrial Planning Federation, and the High-Tek Group's constant and selfless devotion to this event. Look forward to seeing you all next year!

又是 TEAM20 收穫的的季節,感謝每一位參與的師生,是你們讓今年的作品集色彩繽紛! 這個庚子年,讓人類經歷著從未有過的風雨和煎熬。TEAM20 卻在這樣的逆境中如期而 至。在主辦團隊的精心策劃準備下,今年徵得的作品數量還創下了歷史最多的紀錄。在 此對魏孝秦先生為首的主辦團隊的辛勤工作表示由衷的感謝與敬意。 TEAM20 讓我有機會瞭解台灣、結識朋友、拜會師長。進而,華南理工大學建築學院也 從參加者,進一步成為聯合主辦者。而正是 TEAM20 的穿針引線,讓我們與更多的台灣 院系、學者、同學和建築師建立了密切聯繫,在 TEAM20 完成第八次活動的時候,華南 理工與淡江、逢甲、銘傳大學聯合舉辦的「海峽兩岸工作坊」也進入第五個年頭了。 兩岸建築教育需要我們協力推進!身處艱難,需要大義為先,創造歷史,當以天下為公! 讓我們共勉!

This year, we have witnessed the greatest challenge facing humanity. TEAM20 took place as usual despite all the obstacles. Through the years, the school of Architecture of South China University of Technology has changed its role from a participant to one of the organizers. Thanks to TEAM20's efforts in bringing people together. We have made closer connections with more schools, scholars and students in Taiwan. At the same time when TEAM20 concluded its 8th yearly event, the "Cross-Strait Workshop" we organized with Tamkang University, Feng Chia University, and Ming Chuan University also celebrated its 5th anniversary. The advancing of the Cross-Strait architecture education needs our joint work to accomplish. In times of adversity, righteousness is the highest principle; to make history, the world shall be equally shared by all. Let's encourage one another by this philosophy!

記憶中第一次受邀參加 TEAM20 的活動,是人生中首次到臺灣。對幾次活動中臺灣同學 的畢業設計成果印象很深,無論從設計理念、研究深度還是最終的成果呈現,均顯示出 令人欣慰的成績。多年來,兩岸畢業生通過該事件彼此互動、互學、互勉,不斷提升關 於學科認知水準。這毫無疑問是兩岸學界的幸事。 大學畢業是人生的起點,未來的社會更需要具有批判性的視野,吸收新知識的能力與持 之以恆的毅力。當下時空,建築學科正面臨新的挑戰,一方面來自於新材料、新技術以 及數字時代所有學科知識面臨的更新與升級;另一方面則是建築的在地性文化表達與歷 史傳承。中華傳統建築曾經是古代智慧的結晶,如何使之進行當代轉譯與重構是重要的 話題。作為未來建築的領航者,如何破解西方現代建築學範式,構建既滿足當代人生活 方式又具有場所精神與文化記憶的學科知識與建築實踐體系,是建築學人未來的使命。 高瞻遠矚、腳踏實地、仰望天空是建築師必須具備的修養,讓我們共勉吧!

knowledge of the discipline through the mutual interaction, and communication, which is undoubtedly an active event for the academic communities. College graduation is not the ending of learning, but a starting point of life, and the future society needs critical vision, the ability to pursuit new knowledge and perseverance. Nowadays, the architecture discipline is facing new challenges: on the one hand, from new materials, technologies and the upgrading of all disciplines in the digital era; on the other hand, from the architectural local cultural expression and historical inheritance. Traditional Chinese architecture was the presentation of ancient wisdom, the transformation and reconstruction has become a significant discourse. As the future navigator of architecture, how to challenge the paradigm of western modern architecture and build the knowledge and practice system that not only satisfies the living pattern of contemporary human being, but also has Genius Loci and cultural memory is the future mission of architects. Dramatic insight, steady effort, and great ambition are the qualities that architects must equipped.

best of what they have learnt with the unique viewpoints to make innovative ideas and inject fresh impetus to change the world. Due to the pandemic, the 8th TEAM20 Architecture and Urban Planning Graduation Project Competition has to hold online this year. Nevertheless, we have gained new achievement that is different from the previous years: we boast 88 juries from both academic field and the industry worldwide and more project submissions. We are also pleased to attract students from Southeast Asia, Europe, and South America across a total of 72 schools worldwide. This change is a great opportunity to go beyond the boundaries and further widen the architectural and cultural exchanges. The TEAM20 Map Database causes many distinguished projects to converge across the globe, records the authors' observation of their own culture and mother lands, and widens the public's vision. Most importantly, these pieces of work record the students' precious memories. This year's graduates are facing an especially challenging condition due to the uncertainty that the COVID-19 has brought about. I am really empathizing with them and would like to send out my best wishes to them. In the future, TEAM20 will continue to offer the greatest support for the students to help them develop their talents. With the help of online technology, we aim to increase the exposure of these excellent projects and to bring more positive changes to the architecture field.

很多人問我們,為什麼連續八年都大費周章的舉辦 TEAM20 建築與規劃新人獎?甚至在 新冠肺炎疫情嚴峻的 2020 年仍不間斷,參賽者還擴展到世界各地建築或規劃相關科系的 畢業生!理由很簡單,四個字,「勿忘初衷」。 這幾年,全世界都在強調環境保護和人居的生活品質,身為建築設計或城鄉規劃的專業 人士肩負了重大的責任。現代建築不該只是一個存在的實體,而是要能與當地的人土風 情對話,共譜出有溫度的故事,讓一個城市或聚落的生命力得以永續 ! 尤其在大自然反撲、 氣候變遷、疫情肆虐的 2020 年新常態,「永續」這兩個字更顯得彌足珍貴 ! 身為地球村 的一份子,更要勿忘初衷挺二十世代,傾聽二十世代在「新常態」下的思慮,給青年學 子更大的發揮平台,讓建築人「以人為本」的理念與初衷,得以延續,創造更多永續的 環境。 2020 年,是很特殊的一年。突如其來的疫情迫使我們中斷實體的比賽活動,但危機也是 轉機,線上開賽反而讓我們看到更多全球建築學子的創意,這更激勵我們的熱情,繼續 提供更大的舞台讓青年學子揮灑,讓更多人去關心環境和人居的議題,共創更美好的未

by COVID-19, the competition continued without stopping and had become an international event, attracting more participants from around the world. The reason is very simple: We have not forgotten where and why we started. Over the past few years, environmental protection and living quality have become a trending topic. Therefore, professionals in fields of architecture and urban planning shoulder a great responsibility. Modern architectures should not merely exist as physical entities; they should instead be able to converse with local customs and culture, thus jointly sparking touching stories and making the vitality of cities and dwellings sustainable. Especially in 2020, with the ravaging pandemic and devasting climate change, "sustainability" has never been more important in this day and age. Being citizens of Planet Earth, we shall never forget our original intention: to support the 20-somethings' dreams and provide a bigger platform for them. By doing so, our original belief in "Putting Human at the center" will be able to go on and on. 2020 is a very special year for all. The sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 forced us to halt the physical competition. But it also gives us an opportunity for transformation. Switching the event online helps attract more international talents. This encourages us to do better in the future and to provide a wider platform for the students. As the organizing committee of the TEAM20 Graduation Competition, creating a better living environment and overall happiness is the best feedback we can receive!

USM | Universiti Sains Malaysia Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Sanusi Hassan is a lecturer in the Architecture Programme at School of Housing, Building and Planning, University of Science Malaysia (USM), Penang Malaysia. He has a Bachelor and Master of Architecture (B. Arch & M. Arch) degrees in 1993 and 1995 respectively from University of Houston, Texas, USA. At the age 29, he was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in 1998 from University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. His research is specialised in sustainable architecture and construction, and urban design for Southeast Asian tropical wetlands. He is one of the nine regional writers, three of each from Asia, Africa and South America who has involved in preparation of Guideline: Agenda 21 for Sustainable Construction in Developing Countries: A Discussion Document edited by Chrisna du Plessis, published by The International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB), and United Nations Environment Programme International and Environmental Technology Centre (UNEP-IETC), which was launched at The Earth/World Summit, Johannesburg in September, 2002. At the University, he is lecturing in courses related to sustainable urban design, sustainable architecture and construction, Computer Aided Design (CAD), and computer movie animation. Driss Kettani Architecte Driss Kettani graduated from the National School of Architecture in Rabat in 2003 and founded the Driss Kettani architectural firm in 2005. His work is part of an approach that combines architectural rigour with a search for the sensitive and poetic dimension of architecture.This approach goes hand in hand with an imperative of modernity and contemporaneity, and with a constant quest for creativity and meaning. In 2006, he won the competition of the Taroudant University with his partners and friends Saad El Kabbaj and Mohamed Amine Siana. They have also realized the Guelmim School of Technology in 2011. These two projects have been published in numerous international architectural magazines and have been exhibited in New York, Paris, Venice and Milan and the Guelmim project has been short-listed for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Erieta Attali Israel

Erieta Attali was born in Tel Aviv and grew up in Istanbul and Athens. She currently resides between New York and Paris, photographing the work of contemporary architects from around the world. Attali began her photographic career in 1993 as a landscape and archaeology photographer with a specialty in underground burial sites. During the past twenty years, she has been preoccupied primarily with architectural and landscape photography, with a body of work spanning from Europe to the Americas and from Asia to Australia, sponsored by national and academic institutions globally. Her work has been shown in several exhibitions and is the subject of many monographs. The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne, Australia, has acquired her work for its permanent collection. After receiving her master’s in photography from Goldsmiths, University of London, Attali continued her studies as visiting scholar at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, Columbia University, in New York with support of the Fulbright Foundation, and at Waseda University, Tokyo, with the support of the Japan Foundation. imaRU Studio Gayuh Budi Utomo graduated from UPN Veteran Surabaya in 1999. With 20 years of experience in the field, he spent the first quarter of his career working on various builders/contractors, and a secondquarter behind some of the most popular architectural TV programs in Indonesia; before then establishing Gursiji in 2017. After gaining solid construction experiences, from 2006-2007 he was the person in charge behind “Bedah Rumah RCTI” (home rebuild) and “Renovasi Sekolah ANTV” (school renovation); two very popular national television programs. In 2010 he established Imajinasi Rumah “Imaru” (housing imagination) with works widely publicized by mainstream national printed media (Gramedia, IAAW, B1- Thailand), and international websites (Archdaily, Dezeen, Designboom). However, it was not until 2017 when he realized how he wanted to direct his architecture away from glamourous design, still very contemporary, but more down to earth. Hence Gursiji was established with strong design-and-build culture, striving for frontier applicable design experimentations.

Hernán Feldmann was born on January 30, 1987, in Buenos Aires and in 2012 got a degree in Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires (FADU-UBA). Before graduating, he participated in several national and international competitions like the "Miami Pier Museum", "Eco-Offices Lima","CECBA", among others and in 2010 he was part of the young team that won the third prize in the "Centro Civico: Nodo Reconquista" national competition. He has worked with some talented local architecture firms such as Dieguez Fridman architects and GM+S+B+V studio, being part of the team that won the second prize in the "Nuevo Consejo de la Magistratura" national competition in 2010, with Fritz+Fritz arquitectos in the design of several singular housing projects and with Busnelli arquitectos in 2016, receiving a prize for their proposal of the "MALI: New Museum of Lima" competition at the International Architecture Biennale of Argentina (BIA-AR). In 2011 he was invited to join former Columbia's University master architect Jaime Grinberg design studio class at the University of Buenos Aires, where he continues to develop his academic activity as Professor. Over the years he has taught along with recognized architects such as Tristan Dieguez, Roberto Busnelli, Daniel Kozak, and German architect and urban planner Markus Vogl. In 2013, he co-founded F2M Arquitectos, where he has developed many residential and retail projects in Argentina. His studio is always seeking to reach innovative architectural designs that introduce new ways of living. Their projects Urban Style Pampa & Urban Style 2 Building have been published in some of the most important and recognized architectural websites and magazines worldwide.

DDAP Architect I Ketut Dirgantara, the main person behind DDAP, grew up in Ubud, where its strong culture and nature. After graduating from ITB, he used to work as a senior architect at one of urban planning consultant in Singapore before starting DDAP in 2015. Aside architecture, Dirga was often invited to fill lecturers at several universities, seminars and architectural events. Rumi Llanqha refers to the stones in the pink city, this natural and significant element like the Tinajani stone forest that surrounds Lampa with its voluminous monumentality. Being now represented as the main design strategy, this time shielding the historic center of Lampa from contemporary constructions that damage its historical composition. It is from there the importance of the empty terrain that is between a historical and a contemporary fabric. Having a possibility for the project to be an edge for the contemporary fabric and on the side of the historic center to generate an architectural silence; with the continuity of the lapeño atmosphere, this through the spaces of the project, for which the genetics of the mansions, of the street, the route of the tombs and the monumental buildings of Lampa were used as compositional factors.

The imperative of this project was to create a community-based architecture to ensure a platform that facilitates parallel learning and family environment to both aboriginal orphan and local child and boost confidence among them to express individually to uphold their art and culture to us. This will also stimulate other marginal communities to be cognizant about their social and economic rights.

The objects in this project are governed by three fields (or grains) taken from a variety of sources (or contexts): 1. It aims to redirect attention by adapting, referencing the idea of Vending Machine, unnoticed but always there to serve. Furthermore, studies show a rise of young creative entrepreneurs, the Machine provides a series of interaction between locals and the startups, benefiting their growth. Besides, the influx of city dwellers calls for a healthy building that serves the user with refreshing greeneries and sports program to release tension from daily work/routine. The big and broad freeways and the suburban sprawl in the city of Monterrey have left a big problem in the way people move from one place to another. As a result, almost to going everywhere a car is needed. Therefore, the proposed project is about a connection between two areas of the city that were separated by the construction of a tunnel. The project takes advantage of an empty and void space that the construction of the tunnel left and is taken as an opportunity to design and imagine a new type of infrastructure. This project works as a pedestrian connection between two points. Besides, the project could make conscience in the government and the population that if a good quality infrastructure were people feel safe to walk would exist, people wouldn't use the car as is used currently.

The project seeks to reconfigure traditional circulation and learning spaces, taking advantage of its implantation in a rugged topography, as an opportunity to develop an architectural solution of insertion into this type of recurrent conditions in Peru, while it generates new spacial opportunities outside the conventional ones. Conceptually, the project is generated from the abstraction of dynamics of spontaneous urban occupation and the massive ecosystems of hills. Which results as a starting point for the reinterpretation of it as a “Walkable Ravine”, that reconfigure the central space and traditional circulations into “learning streets” in favor of new pedagogical needs. In this way, the project's streets are perceived as a point of coexistence between urban and natural ecosystems; and pedagogical and contemporary architecture, through a symbiotic relation in which architecture is nourished by the place while the project articulates contextual, educational and identity aspects.

The thesis explores the potential of a palimpsest drawing in communicating spatial change over time as a new mode of documentation in architectural design. It aims to rethink the drawing in space to synthesize past histories and generate anachronistic constructs. In the age of digital era, the nonhierarchical structure of the internet in the way it treats information alters not only our understanding but also our perception of it. It lays out the fragments of culture as a flatland of undifferentiated parts and as a result, the current construction of our built environment becomes increasingly de-contextualized and often disregards traces of the past. In search of a new method of archival documentation, the thesis utilizes architecture as a medium in tracing the specifics of both the histories and the narratives of space.

Most human relations are and have been around food since the beginning of history. This project seeks to strengthen relations between people by giving them the change, the time and the space to enjoy food, from the production, to the process of buying it, till the moment of enjoying it with those around you. Together with this, and thinking about the future of our cities and our planet, the building wants to be a manifesto to show that another kind of food production system is possible. It works as a vertical countryside landscape were all the steps of food production come together with an urban housing building.
