ocals gathered at the Imperial Hotel last week to show support for the Eumundi Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, much to the delight of founders Gill and Col Brownhill. The centre is in desperate need of funding and the public meeting in Eumundi allowed locals to gather and share fundraising and planning ideas. For the past 14 years, the Brownhills have relied on local donations and modest government grants to cover operating costs. Gill and Col’s work has been totally

voluntary during those long years and for some time they have been planning for a new model of operation in the knowledge that arrangements for the longer term sustainability of the centre were needed. However health issues have made the need for operating changes more urgent. Gill, with the assistance of volunteers, has been successful in having the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre obtain Deductible Gift Recipient status which they hope will lead continued on page 5

Servo update

Representatives of state government met servo owner Bob Loudon on site last week to further consider Bob’s application for a review of Sunshine Coast Council’s decision to shut down the Eumundi servo. Bob said he thought the meeting went well and is waiting for a decision. If the relevant state government department does not issue any further information requests a decision is expected to be made within 14 days.
