We're thrilled to be starting a new academic year full of learning, growth, and meaningful connections This year, we're launching an exciting initiative that will guide our school community on an incredible journey of self-discovery and mutual respect As we embark on this adventure, we encourage you, as families, to actively engage with your children Share in the experiences and discussions that will shape them throughout the year
There will be many opportunities for your children to take part in activities that explore themes of identity, belonging, and respect within our diverse community We invite you to ask them about what they're learning, to discuss these topics at home, and to support them as they develop stronger connections with their classmates and our school
The support of our families is vital, as it strengthens the connection between home and school life, as well as within the school itself By working together, we can create a truly memorable year and foster an environment where every student feels seen, valued, and celebrated
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making this a remarkable year for everyone

As I take a moment to reflect on my journey at European International School of Barcelona, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences and opportunities that have shaped my professional and personal growth over the years
I began my tenure here as the coordinator of the language school and a teacher, excited yet apprehensive about what lay ahead. Those early days were marked by a commitment to fostering a love for language among our students, and I cherished every moment spent engaging with them in the classroom It was a privilege to witness their progress and to be part of their learning journeys
As I transitioned into the role of class tutor and later as the coordinator of the school’s international department, I embraced the challenge of broadening our curriculum to include a more global perspective Collaborating with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds enriched my understanding of education and community. It was inspiring to see how our students thrived in an environment that celebrated diversity and intercultural learning.
Taking on the role of head of the English department further deepened my commitment to academic excellence. I was able to work closely with dedicated teachers, and together we implemented innovative teaching strategies and initiatives that enhanced our students’ learning experiences
In 2011, when I was appointed school principal, I felt both honored and motivated to lead our exceptional community My focus has been on fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive I am proud of what we have accomplished together, from enhancing our curriculum to strengthening our relationships with parents and the community.
I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all my colleagues, students, and families for your support and collaboration throughout my journey Each of you has played an integral role in making EISB a vibrant and inspiring place to learn and grow.
As I look to the future, I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for both myself and our school I will carry the lessons and memories from my time here with me always, and I am eager to continue contributing to our mission of providing quality education.
Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.
Warmest regards,
By Mr Luke Fernández, Green Commission Coordinator
We, at the Green Commission, are thrilled to introduce our new Eco-Delegates, chosen by their tutors for their passion for science and sustainability This year, each class will have two Eco-Delegates, and they will rotate each term With so many enthusiastic students eager to participate, this system will allow more of them to contribute to the Green Commission and take on the important responsibility of helping our school become more sustainable and environmentally friendly
Our Eco-Delegates recently introduced themselves to their fellow students in the theatre, where they explained their roles and expressed their gratitude to their tutors for selecting them We are incredibly proud of our Green Commission and confident that this year we will accomplish many amazing, eco-friendly initiatives

We are excited to share with you that this year we are introducing a global theme for the entire school, which will run throughout the school from Infant school all the way up to Baccalaureate level education It was born from our successful “Buddy programme” which has and continues to help our students integrate but also highlighted the need to provide the opportunity for all our students to celebrate themselves, their classmates, and our wonderful EISB community
The slogan is #SayMyName; the antidiscrimination campaign. An interactive campaign which will serve as a fun way to celebrate each and every student in our school. An International school; multi-national, multilingual and multicultural; building bonds and connecting humans.
Throughout the school year there will be #SayMyName class activities, year group activities and whole school activities. These activities are about building a positive sense of self and respect in our shared community via an exploration of Identity at a personal and communal level. The idea of #SayMyname is to encourage mutual respect for one another and a sense of pride in our chosen community that we all belong to; EISB.
We can't wait to embark on this journey together, celebrating our diversity and fostering a deeper understanding of what it truly means to belong to the EISB family
By Mr Ivan de la Torre, International Homeroom Coordinator
Following the “Say My Name” campaign, The International Homeroom students have engaged in a project to showcase their heritage by creating their “piece” within the “big puzzle” that is the School
They have decorated it with their name, which is their actual introduction to our learning community, as well as the flag(s) of their country(ies) of origin, acknowledging their heritage and diversity
The pieces match together in several ways in a long string that covers the whole perimeter of the wall, an allegory of the space that will connect the scattered pieces together.
Back to school, September releases more than a thousand colorful pieces.
As they scatter through the corridors, it seems like a big mess Though no one ever wished there were less
The puzzle seems everything but clear It is so large: “How will it all make sense this year?”
But do not fear: There is no tragedy but strategy The will brings the skill Logic becomes magic and experience is the key to perseverance
Be patient! Just wait and watch: How one piece and the next one eventually match

I’ve been working at EISB for the last 11 years, and it’s been such an amazing experience! I absolutely love being part of the early years project and working with the little ones. I’ve taught all sorts of age groups N1, N2, FY1, and FY3 and each group has been so much fun in its own way. Seeing the children grow, learn, and discover new things is the best part of my job. Every day is a new adventure, and I feel so lucky to help create a space where they can feel happy, safe, and curious. Watching their little faces light up when they figure something out never gets old. It's just so rewarding to be part of their first steps in learning!
In my free time, I love to stay active by running half marathons it’s such a great way to clear my mind and push myself! I’m also really into collecting vintage music, and David Bowie is one of my absolute favorites. There’s something about the sound of old records that just makes me happy. Lately, I’ve been challenging myself in a different way by learning new languages Right now, I’m learning Italian, and it’s been such a fun adventure! It’s amazing to see how much you can pick up when you're really excited about something
I always try to make the kids laugh and learn in a fun way it keeps the classroom full of good energy! I love using games, songs, and silly voices to get them excited about what we’re learning. Seeing their little faces light up when they’re having fun and learning at the same time makes it all worth it. I think learning should be an adventure, so I do my best to keep things playful and engaging. It’s amazing how much more they absorb when they’re enjoying themselves! Every day, I aim to create a space where they can laugh, learn, and feel happy
I definitely recommend reading time when possible, as it is such a fun way to spend quality time together! It really gets their imaginations going, and it’s a great way to bond while sharing something special. Plus, it’s amazing for helping them pick up new words and communication skills without even realizing it Books can lead to all kinds of fun conversations and questions, making learning feel exciting It’s also such a cozy, calming activity that helps children feel safe and connected There’s nothing better than snuggling up with a good story and watching their little minds light up!

Ingredients:
cupsall-purposeflour
1teaspoonbakingsoda
1teaspoongroundcinnamon
1/2teaspoonnutmeg
1/4teaspoongroundcloves
1/2teaspoonsalt
1/2cupbutter(atroomtemperature)
1cupsugar
1egg

1teaspoonvanillaextract
Decoration(tomakethemonsterfaces):
Candyeyes(canbeboughtormadewithfrosting)
Meltedchocolateorchocolatechips
Minimarshmallows
Gummiesorsmallcandies
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper 1
Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. This blend of spices will give your cookies a lovely warm autumn flavour.
Cream the butter and sugar: In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes. Then, beat in the egg, pumpkin puree, and vanilla extract until it is well combined.
Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients (flour) to the wet ingredients (pumpkin mixture), mixing until just combined and a smooth dough forms. 4.
Shape the cookies: Have fun with your kids rolling the dough into balls, roughly the size of a tablespoon each. Arrange them on your prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave some space between each cookie.
Bake: Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges turn a lovely golden brown. Once baked, let them cool completely on the baking sheet before you start decorating.
Monster face decoration: This is where the real fun begins! Let the kids unleash their creativity by decorating the cookies with monster faces. Candy eyes, marshmallows, gummies, or even melted chocolate can be used to bring their spooky creations to life. Encourage them to give each cookie a unique and fun (or scary!) expression.
Place the candy eyes on the cookies using a bit of melted chocolate as "glue."
Use the mini marshmallows to make teeth or mouths, also sticking them on with chocolate.
The gummies can be used for tongues or noses.
Let the kids be creative!
Tips:
You can make pumpkin puree at home by steaming chunks of pumpkin and mashing them. Get the kids involved in every step of the process! It's a fantastic way for them to have fun and learn about cooking.
