CULTURAL WEEK
A very inspiring programme
By Mr Mike Barrett DirectorI am delighted to present a very special issue of our magazine, dedicated exclusively to this year's Cultural Week programme It not only serves as a detailed guide to the events and activities planned, but is also a reflection of the dedication and effort of our students and their teachers in creating a culturally enriching experience for all
You will find a variety of events including inspirational talks, the Sant Jordi literary competition, solidarity actions, workshops and musical performances Each event has been carefully designed to inspire learning, encourage creativity and celebrate the richness of our diverse cultural traditions.
I hope this week gives you the opportunity to connect, learn and appreciate the beauty of the diversity that surrounds us.
Alumni Day
By Mr Mike Barrett DirectorWe are delighted to be soon reuniting with our EISB Alumni
The EISB Alumni Gathering 2024 will take place next 25 April at 7pm in the school
Also, on this occasion, Pep Marí will be presenting his talk "WHY PEOPLE COMMIT (OR NOT!)" , exploring in depth "THE COMMITMENT EQUATION" This talk will inspire us with valuable insights and reflections on how to be committed in our lives, whether leading teams or pursuing our life goals
Why did we ask our Alumni to attend? To get inspired and listen to advice on how to lead their teams, achieve their personal goals and, certainly not least, to enjoy a cocktail party all together at the end, where we can meet again and share unique moments
We look forward to seeing all our Alumi on 25th April!

Federica Collazo is launching her first book!
We are pleased to share the interview we did with Federica Collazo, a Secondary Year 1 student, who has recently published a book called "La Granja Mágica" (The Magical Farm) We are very proud of her accomplishment On the occasion of Sant Jordi's Day, 23rd April, at 5pm, Federica will be signing books in school We can't wait to get our hands on it!
1.What inspired you to write this book at such a young age?
What inspired me to write the book was the wish for children to love reading as much as I do When I was little I loved listening to stories, so now I really enjoy reading. I want to encourage other children to write as well, because often it is only adults who do it
2 Could you tell us what your book is about and what the central theme is?
My book tells the story about a " magical " farm where animals from all over the world live together They tell stories about their adventures and how they solve problems without the help of humans. It stresses the importance of teamwork and other values.
3. How was the writing process, from the initial idea to the publication of the book?
Last year, in Ms Carme's classes, I started recording the stories I had in my head and writing them down I shared them with her and we decided that we would turn them into a book After the classes, together we would choose the stories, correct them, improve them and with her help we managed to finish them Finally, we worked on the illustrations, the English translation and the biography
4. Which were the biggest challenges you faced during the creation of the book?
One of the most difficult things was time management It was very challenging, with the little free time I had, after the Storytelling classes to have to choose the 4 best stories, make the illustrations and correct the text It was also complicated to decide the languages in which we would do the stories In the end, we decided to separate the books into English and Spanish instead of combining them
5. And, why write more than one story? If you had to choose one out of the four, which one would it be?
I wrote several stories about the same farm because I wanted to create a special atmosphere I thought it would be better to have one book with all the stories together instead of separating them into four different books Of all the stories, I would choose "The Little Purple Pig" because it was the first one I created and it holds a special place in my heart
6. What would you like readers to gain or learn from your book?
I hope my book will encourage young children to want to read, even if for now their parents read to them Reading fosters creativity and I want them to see how fun it can be Maybe one day, they will be the ones to write a book themselves
7. How does it feel to have published a book at this age, and has anything changed in your life since then?
It's exciting to see my dream come true at such a young age I am incredibly happy to have my book published This process has taught me a lot about writing, creativity and promotion Also, I am learning to be less self-conscious
8. What was your favourit part in the whole process of writing the book?
My favourite part of writing the book has been watching it come to life It's thrilling to see it go from my mind to a drawing and then to reality It's been a truly fascinating experience
9. What advice would you give to other young people who want to follow in your footsteps and write their own book?
It's a slow process, but be patient Follow your dreams and be creative Despite the obstacles, keep going It's your book, do what you love
10. Do you have any future writing projects in mind?
Yes, though not presently I like writing as a hobby but I don't plan to do it professionally I would like to continue writing some stories and I have a novel that I will take up again one day
11. Who has supported you throughout this process?
Many people I want to thank my parents for their emotional, financial and time support; Ms Carme for helping me with the writing, Ms Lyn for the English translations and Ms Esther for helping me to promote and sell the book at school
12. What are your plans for promoting it soon, and when will we be able to get our hands on a copy?
The book will be ready in mid-April It will start selling on 23 April On that day, I will have a booth to sell and sign copies at school and I plan to go to FY1, FY2, FY3 classes to tell some of my stories with puppets I will also promote it on social media and through my family
