AS ARCHITECTS MOVE THROUGH THE TRADITIONAL DESIGN PROCESS, THEY ALL TOO OFTEN DESIGN THEIR PROJECTS INDIVIDUALLY WITHOUT ADEQUATELY TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE SPACES BETWEEN AND AROUND THEM. WITH A FIRM-WIDE COMMITMENT FOR IMPROVING THE WAY WE APPROACH THE DESIGN OF OUR PROJECTS, EV&A USES THE NOTION OF PLACE MAKING IN ORDER TO INSPIRE OUR CLIENTS WITH BETTER DESIGN SOLUTIONS THAT ULTIMATELY RESULT IN THE CREATION OF SPACES THAT SERVE AS THE HEART OF EVERY BUILDING WE DESIGN. EMERGING FROM WITHIN DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN ALONG PAVILION CENTER DRIVE, EAST OF THE RED ROCK RESORT, IS TWO SUMMERLIN, A CLASS “A” MULTI-TENANT OFFICE BUILDING AND CURRENT HOME OF THE HOWARD HUGHES CORPORATION AMONG OTHERS. THE PROJECT’S INTERIOR AMENITIES OFFER THE LATEST IN TECHNOLOGY AND SUSTAINABLE DESIGN IN A REFINED, STATE-OF-THE-ART CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT.

THE ARISTOCRAT CORPORATION HEADQUARTERS SUMMERLIN
NESTLED QUIETLY
ON THE DESERT FLOOR NEAR THE FOOTHILLS OF THE SPRING MOUNTAINS, THIS PAIR OF THREE-STORY OFFICE BUILDINGS ARE HOME TO ONE THE WORLD’S LEADING GAMING TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES. DEVELOPED BY THE HOWARD HUGHES CORPORATION, ARISTOCRAT TECHNOLOGIES RELOCATED THEIR OPERATIONS TO THIS TWELVE ACRE SITE TO IMPROVE FREEWAY ACCESS AND VISIBILITY. THE MOVE ALLOWED MANAGEMENT TO RE-EVALUATE INTERNAL ADJACENCIES FOR THEIR TEAMS WHICH RESULTED IN A MORE EFFICIENT, CREATIVE AND COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR THEIR WORK TEAMS.

THE PAIR OF BUILDINGS BOOKEND AROUND A LANDSCAPED CENTRAL PLAZA AREA DESIGNED FOR STAFF GATHERINGS WHILE PROVIDING A CLEAR SENSE OF ARRIVAL. AND GOOD PLACE MAKING. THE DESIGN TEAM’S PRIMARY GOAL WAS TO CREATE A UNIQUE AND IDENTIFIABLE DESIGN AESTHETIC TO REFLECT AND REINFORCE THE MODERN DESIGN VERNACULAR THAT HAS BECOME SYNONYMOUS WITH THE TECHNOLOGY COMPANY.
ARISTOCRAT TECHNOLOGIES SUMMERLIN, NEVADA
EXTERIOR DESIGN FEATURES ARE REPLETE WITH SHADING ELEMENTS ON AND AROUND THE BUILDING’S COMMON AREAS, PROVIDING WELCOME RELIEF FROM THE DESERT’S INTENSE SUN DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS.
ARISTOCRAT TECHNOLOGIES SUMMERLIN, NEVADA
THE GAMING COMPANY’S CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS FEATURE A CENTRAL COMMUNITY COURTYARD THAT SERVES AS A PUBLIC GATHERING SPACE FOR COMPANY FUNCTIONS AND EMPLOYEE BREAKS. IT HAS BECOME THE HEART OF THE TWIN BUILDING COMPLEX PROVIDING A REAL SENSE OF PLACE THAT FOSTER EMPLOYEE COLLABORATION AND SOCIAL CONNECTEDNESS.
THE UNLV HARRY REID RESEARCH & TECHNOLOGY PARK
RETAINED BY UNLV’S RESEARCH FOUNDATION IN EARLY 2017, THE GARDNER COMPANY BECAME THE FINAL MASTER DEVELOPER OF THE 122 ACRE RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY PARK LOCATED IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. EV&A WAS COMMISSIONED TO MASTER PLAN THE PARK AND TO DESIGN THE FIRST OF MORE THAN TWELVE TECHNOLOGY BUILDINGS TOTALING 1.5 MILLION SQUARE FEET WHEN COMPLETED. TECH PARK ONE WAS COMPLETED IN EARLY 2019 RISING FOUR STORIES CONTAINING 120,000 SQUARE FEET OF DEDICATED TECHNOLOGY SPACE. THE PARK SERVES THE UNIVERSITY’S TECHNOLOGY INCUBATOR NEEDS WITH ADVANCED RESEARCH AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, BRINGING ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DIVERSIFICATION TO SOUTHERN NEVADA.

THE PROJECT’S INTERIOR AMENITIES OFFER THE LATEST IN TECHNOLOGY AND SUSTAINABLE DESIGN IN A REFINED, STATE-OF-THE-ART CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT.

IN ANTICIPATION
OF NEW AND FUTURE MARKETS IN THE PERMANENT SHOWROOM SPACE, THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET CENTER EXECUTIVE TEAM REACHED OUT TO EV&A TO ENVISION WHAT WILL BE THE FOURTH MULTI-STORY SHOWROOM FACILITY FOR THE WMC CAMPUS IN LAS VEGAS. THE DESIGN CONTINUED THE CAMPUS’ MANDATE OF INTERCONNECTIVITY BY PROVIDING AN ELEVATED WALKWAY FROM THE CENTRALLY LOCATED PARKING FACILITY TO THE OVER 1,000,000 SQUARE FEET OF NEW PERMANENT SHOWROOM FACILITIES FOR THE KITCHEN AND BATH MARKETS.
CREDIT ONE BANK CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS PHASE TWO
AS ONE OF THE
FASTEST GROWING CREDIT CARD ISSUERS IN THE COUNTRY, CREDIT ONE BANK IS EXPANDING THEIR LAS VEGAS BASED FINANCIAL SERVICES CORPORATE CAMPUS IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. THE BANK’S SECOND PHASE IS THE LATEST ADDITION TO THE BANK’S 22-ACRE CAMPUS AND IS COMPRISED OF A NEW FOUR-STORY, 157,000 SF OFFICE COMPLEX SITED JUST WEST OF THEIR EXISTING FLAGSHIP HEADQUARTERS COMPLETED IN 2016. THE BANK DESIRED TO EXPAND THEIR FACILITY INCORPORATING THE EXISTING COMPLEX’S DESIGN VERNACULAR WHILE ESTABLISHING AN INDIVIDUAL IDENTITY OF ITS OWN.

THE EV&A DESIGN TEAM CREATED A NEW TWOSTORY 4,000 SF “TOWN HALL” COMMONS SPACE LINKING THE TWO BUILDINGS INTO A UNIFIED WHOLE, PROVIDING A WELCOMING SENSE OF ARRIVAL FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES.
A SOUTH AND WEST FACING SOLAR SHADING SYSTEM IS ONE OF THE KEY ARCHITECTURAL FOCAL POINTS OF THE PROJECT , MINIMIZING SOLAR HEAT GAIN AND MAXIMIZING THE OVERALL PROJECT’S ENERGY PERFORMANCE.
THE LOBBY@ 3773 HOWARD HUGHES PARKWAY FOR EQ OFFICE
TRANSFORMING A LOUD
COLD ATRIUM TOPPING OUT AT NEARLY 100’ BECAME THE CHALLENGE FOR THE EV&A DESIGN TEAM AT 3773 HOWARD PARKWAY’S NORTH AND SOUTH TOWERS, ORIGINALLY CONSTRUCTED IN 1995. IN AN EFFORT TO CREATE VISUAL INTEREST WITHIN THE LARGE OPEN VOLUME, SUSPENDED ACOUSTIC “BIRDS” WERE INTRODUCED THAT FLY WITHIN THE ROTUNDA, PROVIDING SOUND ATTENUATION FOR CONVERSATIONS AT GRADE LEVEL. ADJUSTABLE LED LIGHTING HANGS AT VARYING HEIGHTS TO CREATE DIFFERENT MOODS WITHIN THE SPACE. A VARIETY OF HARD AND SOFT FLOORING PATTERNS WERE USED TO ESTABLISH DISTINCT SEATING AREAS ENCOURAGING BETTER SOCIAL INTERACTION AND A SENSE OF COMMUNITY FOR THE BUILDING’S TENANTS.
JRS HOSPITALITY CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS TWO SUMMERLIN
AS THE OWNER AND DEVELOPER OF SEVERAL ICONIC RESTAURANTS IN LAS VEGAS, JRS HOSPITALITY WASTED NO TIME IN SELECTING EV&A TO DESIGN ITS NEW CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN THE PRESTIGIOUS TWO SUMMERLIN. REPRESENTING SEVERAL WELL-KNOWN ATHLETES IT WAS CRITICAL THAT THEIR SPACE BE DESIGNED TO IMPRESS THE MOMENT YOU ARRIVE. ENTERING THE SPACE, THROUGH DOUBLE GLASS DOORS, YOU ARE GREETED BY AN OPEN SEATING AREA WITH LARGE PRIVATE OFFICES AT THE PERIMETER. THE SPACE FEATURES FLOOR TO CEILING GLASS WALLS OFFERING STUNNING VIEWS OF THE STRIP, DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN AND THE LAS VEGAS BALL PARK.

SUMMERLIN, NV
A NEUTRAL PALETTE OF GRAYS WITH POPS OF COLOR FLOW THROUGHOUT. WALNUT IS THE FEATURE WOOD FOR THE CUSTOM FURNISHINGS AND WALL AND CEILING DESIGN. THE PLAY OF CEILING HEIGHTS AND SPECIAL LIGHTING REINFORCE WAY FINDING. THE PLAN REVOLVES AROUND GATHERINGS FOR CHEF PREPARED LUNCHES WITHIN A FULLY OPERATIONAL KITCHEN, INFORMAL MEETINGS AND BASEBALL GAMES. THE LOBBY IS A NON-TRADITIONAL LIVING ROOM WITH NO FORMAL RECEPTION AREA AND THE MAIN ENTRY LOCATION TO THE BALCONY OFFERS ACCESS BY ALL GUESTS AND STAFF OFF OF THE COMMUNAL KITCHEN.

WITH THOUGHTFUL DESIGNS THAT FOCUS ON THE FAMILY, THIS NEW CLINIC AND SURGERY CENTER PROVIDES EVERY PATIENT WITH A RELAXED EXPERIENCE FROM THE MOMENT THEY CHECK IN UNTIL THE TIME COMES FOR THEM TO HEAD HOME TO BE WITH THEIR FAMILIES.

SERVING MORE THAN 120,000 PATIENTS EACH YEAR IN DEDICATED AREAS FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN, THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT OBSERVATION AND FAST-TRACK UNIT OFFERS AN ACUTE LEVEL OF CARE. PATIENTS ARE HERE FOR LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE EITHER BEING SENT HOME OR ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL. DESIGN OF THE REMODEL CAREFULLY CONSIDERED THE PROJECT CHALLENGES INHERENT TO THE EXISTING STRUCTURE, INCLUDING THE LACK OF DAYLIGHT AND OUTDATED FINISHES. THE DESIGN CREATED AN OPEN SPACE LAYOUT WITH AN UPDATED AESTHETIC THAT PROVIDES A SENSE OF WARMTH, CALMNESS AND SERENITY IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT MIGHT TYPICALLY BE A CAUSE FOR ANXIETY.
THATCHER CHEMICAL COMPANY’S CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS
SIGNIFICANTLY
EXPANDING THEIR NEVADA OPERATIONS, THATCHER CHEMICAL ADDED MORE THAN 50,000 SF OF NEW ADMINISTRATIVE, MANUFACTURING AND DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES TO THEIR EXISTING SEVEN ACRE MASTER PLANNED CAMPUS. FACED WITH A UTILITARIAN FACILITY PROGRAM, THE DESIGN TEAM COMPOSED A BOLD AND MODERN NEW LOOK FOR THE COMPANY THAT ALL FUTURE PROJECTS FOR THE CHEMICAL GIANT WILL BE BASED.
REPUBLIC SERVICES MATERIAL RECOVERY CENTER
TASKED WITH THE JOB OF PROCESSING 140,000 TONS OF RECYCLABLE WASTE ANNUALLY, REPUBLIC SERVICES MATERIAL RECOVERY CENTER IN NORTH LAS VEGAS MEETS THE CITY’S GOAL OF LESSENING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS BY PLACING WASTE PROCESSING IN A CENTRAL LOCATION CONVENIENT TO THE MAJORITY OF THE CITY’S RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES. SITED ADJACENT TO THEIR EXISTING TRANSFER STATION, THIS 100,000 SQUARE FOOT STATE-OF-THEART FACILITY IS ONE THE LARGEST OF ITS KIND IN NORTH AMERICA.
REPUBLIC SERVICES MATERIAL RECOVERY CENTER NORTH LAS VEGAS
THE FACILITY INCLUDES A TWO STORY 6,500 SF COMMONS BUILDING HOUSING ITS ADMINISTRATIVE AND DISPATCH FUNCTIONS AS WELL AS A LEARNING CENTER WITH FLOOR-TO-CEILING VISION PANELS ALLOWING VISITING SCHOOL CHILDREN AND OTHERS TO EASILY VIEW HOW THE RECYCLING PROCESS WORKS.
COMMITTED TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY THE MAIN BUILDING RESTS UPON A BASE OF SITE CAST CONCRETE PANELS DESIGNED FOR LONGEVITY AND EASE OF MAINTENANCE, WHILE THE TOP FOURTH OF EACH WALL IS COMPOSED OF TRANSLUCENT PANELS WHICH BATHE THE INTERIOR WITH NATURAL LIGHT.
THE PROJECT FEATURES A LARGE ARRAY OF PHOTO-VOLTAIC SOLAR PANELS COVERING MORE THAN HALF OF THE BUILDING ROOF AREA PROVIDING NEEDED RENEWABLE ENERGY TO THE FACILITY WITH EXCESS POWER GOING BACK TO THE GRID. THE REPUBLIC SERVICES MATERIALS RECOVERY CENTER IS SETTING THE PACE AND DOING ITS PART TO ACHIEVE A MORE SUSTAINABLE AND ECOLOGICALLY CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY.
PLACE MAKING CAPITALIZES ON ASSETS, INSPIRATION AND POTENTIAL, CREATING GOOD PEOPLE SPACES THAT PROMOTE THE END USERS HEALTH, HAPPINESS, AND SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING. IT’S THE ART OF CREATING PLACES THAT UPLIFT AND HELP US CONNECT TO EACH OTHER.

KAKTUS LIFE @ THE CURVE, AN URBAN VILLAGE MASTER PLAN DEVELOPMENT
EMERGING FROM A FORMER HI-RISE SITE NEVER COMPLETED, “KAKTUS AT THE CURVE” LOOKS TO PROVIDE A MUCH NEEDED MIXED-USE PROJECT THAT SEPARATES ITSELF FROM THE COMPETITION BY PROVIDING AN ELEGANT RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS WITHIN A THOUGHTFULLY CONNECTED 15ACRE CAMPUS SETTING. THE PROJECT INCLUDES SEVEN, FIVE-STORY MID-RISE TOWERS SURROUNDING TWO RICHLY APPOINTED AMENITY AREAS ALONG WITH A CENTRALLY LOCATED COMMONS BUILDING PROVIDING RECREATION AND COMMUNITY ORIENTED ACTIVITIES AND RETAIL SERVICES.

THE PROJECT REINFORCES A HIERARCHY OF BUILDING AND CIRCULATION, BOLSTERING THE LEGIBILITY AND CONNECTIVITY OF ITS CAMPUS CONTEXT. THE MASTER PLAN CREATES TWO COURTYARDS THAT DIRECTLY CONNECT TO COMMUNITYFOCUSED AMENITIES ON THE GROUND FLOOR WHILE THE LANDSCAPE HELPS LEAD THOSE SEEKING ON-SITE SERVICES DIRECTLY TO THEM.

A MUNICIPAL PEDESTRIAN RIVER WALK WINDS ITSELF AROUND THE BUILDING’S RIVERSIDE PERIMETER PROVIDING ACCESS TO THE CASINO’S “BACK-PORCH” AMENITIES COMPLETE WITH FIRE PITS AND STUNNING VIEWS OF THE MISSISSIPPI AND HER MAJESTIC SUNSETS.

THE DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS THE LUMBER AND RIVER TOWN HISTORY OF CLINTON WITH VINTAGE BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN BY THE DESIGN TEAM.
