> Las Vegas VA Medical Center Located in North Las Vegas on a 160 acre parcel of land, this new regional 882,000 SF facility includes a 90bed hospital, 90-bed mental health unit, 23 outpatient clinics, 120-bed skilled nursing facility and a central plant. The VA requested from the design team a solution that looks to the future and does not pin the facility into an inefficient mode of operation. Modularity and flexibility define healthcare into the next century and this facility responds. The design team developed an overall design that utilizes the VA Building System, using a very modular approach to present an extremely forward-thinking hospital. The RTKL + JMA joint venture felt this design would set the standard for future medical facilities.

Design of the remodel carefully considered the project challenges inherent to the existing structure, including the lack of daylight and outdated finishes. > UMC Trauma Center UMC of Southern Nevada provides patient-centered services for the community. Improvements to the hospital have encompassed several floors. The first floor of the facility enhanced three operating rooms, resuscitation bays, eleven intensive care units, an agio room, CT scan room and support stations. The second floor improvements comprised pediatric emergency rooms and an intensive care area with hospital rooms and support center. The third floor included the pediatric clinic, imaging center and pharmacy. And the fourth and fifth floors improved UMC Administration suites for both patients and physicians. Two labs were redesigned to incorporate a new shared patient entrance and a shared control room. A new preop/recovery room is also created to include 10 beds and a nurse station.
