The Research Looking at previous years branding for different events such as Olympic events and other Japanese design that might have an influence on how the brief is approached. Seing the kind of asthetic that works for a sporting event.

Looking at the branding for the Tokyo 1964 it was very simple and contemporary and this is something i want to get across in my branding.

The program Gathering research on different publications from past events it was clear to see the kind of asthetic that was applied, which worked well. From this a program for one of the matches at the event to showcase how it would work across different matches was created.

JAPAN 2019
Development The development of the logo started off trying to incorporate the rugby ball and some type but this was too confusing and a lot was going on, this then led to having the logo stripped back and made similar. This would then fit in with Japan as a country being contemporary and modern.

Concept The logo design is in keeping with the style of Japanese design but also works well across English speaking countries, the logo can be taken apart and work well on a really large scale or really small scale for the rest of the branding.

The Program Showcasing hwo the brading works on a game day this program uses the idea of spliting the front cover into the colours of the 2 teams but half is part of a cover, providing soemthing that is more asthetically pleasing and a better opportunity for use of different stocks.

Aesthetics Inside the program there is different stocks that follow the brand colours and again different stocks, so above a red stock has been used to display the Japan rugby team and then tracing paper and a white water colour paper has been used to show the lineups of the 2 teams.

Tickets The tickets are elivered to people who buy them in a red envelope that is perforated at a digonal in keeping with the split of 2 colours that flows throughtout the branding. The ticket itself is also perofrated at a angal with the white section going to staff to keep track of numbers.

The staff members will wear the logo on a bright red shirt so they stand out and a lanyard with their name on, on the back is a question mark which is reconisable in both englush and japanese and so again they can easlily be seen if anyone needs help.
