Thriller en la Gran Manzana

En su nueva novela, Riley Sager cuenta la historia de una chica a la que le pagan por vivir en un edi cio maldito de Nueva York. In his new novel, Riley Sager tells the story of a girl paid to live in a cursed New York City high-rise.

Si algo es demasiado bueno para ser verdad, quizá lo mejor sea huir… pero no para Jules. En Cierra todas las puertas, la nueva novela de Riley Sager, a la protagonista le ofrecen 12,000 dólares por habitar un departamento del edifi cio Bartholomew, uno de los más prestigiosos de Nueva York, pero pronto se da cuenta de que algo no está bien. De inicio, le prohíben las visitas. Tampoco puede pasar una noche fuera del departamento, ni molestar a los vecinos. Aún peor, de pronto desaparece una vecina. Así es como se ve envuelta en una serie de extraños sucesos.

“Usé algunas leyendas urbanas para el libro, porque Manhattan ha sido habitada por siglos y tiene una rica historia. Hay edifi cios del Upper West Side que tienen 100 o 150 años y tienen este halo. Quería hacer como si el edifi cio hubiera existido siempre y tuviera historia impregnada”, compartió Sager en entrevista.

Además de los sucesos extraños, el libro también cuenta la historia de Jules y las circunstancias familiares que la llevaron a habitar en soledad ese departamento. Y, por supuesto, es un fi el retrato de Nueva York. If something appears too good to be true, perhaps it’s better to hightail it out of there –but not for Jules. In “Lock Every Door”, the latest Riley Sager novel, the protagonist is off ered 12,000 dollars to apartment sit at the Bartholomew Building, one of New York’s most prestigious. It’s not long before she realizes that something’s not quite right. From the start, she’s not allowed visitors. Nor can she spend the night outside the apartment or bother her neighbors. Worse yet, a fellow neighbor suddenly disappears. And so, she fi nds herself involved in a series of strange events. “I used a few urban legends for the book because Manhattan has been lived in for centuries and has a colorful history. There are buildings on the Upper West Side that are 100 or 150 years old and they’ve got this patina to them. I wanted to make it like the building had always existed and was impregnated with history,” shared Sager in interview. In addition to the unsettling events, the book is also about Jules and the family circumstances that led her to live in the apartment alone. And, of course, it’s an accurate depiction of New York.

Kate Winslet es sincera cuando habla de su protagónico en Mare of Easttown: tanto disfrutó interpretar a una detective, como le fue difícil y doloroso. La nueva serie dramática de HBO, ya disponible en el canal y la plataforma HBO Go, trata sobre una detective que, a la par que intenta resolver un feminicidio y la desaparición forzada de una joven, lidia con sus problemas, incluido el duelo por la muerte de su hijo. “Esta es la historia sobre un crimen en un pequeño pueblo, pero no es un thriller se enfoca en la familia, en cómo no puedes elegir a los miembros de tu familia y cómo las experiencias del pasado pueden definir tu presente”, contó la actriz británica en mesa redonda con la revista Life and Style. “Me encantó interpretarla y me siento muy posesiva con ella, como si fuera mía, como si fuera mi amiga”, dijo la actriz, “(aunque) no siempre me gustó interpretar a Mare, porque era emocionalmente desafiante; fue doloroso en ocasiones”. However, it’s not a thriller but a family drama, about how you can’t choose your family and how past experiences can come to define your present,” the British actress said in a roundtable discussion with Life and Style magazine. “I really loved being able to portray her and I feel very possessive of her, as if she were mine, like she’s my friend,” said the actress, “(though) I didn’t always like playing Mare, because it was emotionally challenging, at times painful.” For her role, Kate received training from the Easttown and Marple Township police departments in Philadelphia.

La segunda temporada de Luis Miguel, la serie, ya en curso en Netflix, presenta la faceta de antihéroe del cantante. The second season of Luis Miguel: The Series, already streaming on Netflix, presents the singer’s antihero side.

Mientras el Sol ascendía a lo más alto de su carrera, sus relaciones familiares llegaban al ocaso. Esto es lo que presenta la segunda temporada de Luis Miguel, la serie, actualmente corriendo en Netflix. Basada en las memorias del mismo cantante, y con Diego Boneta de nuevo en el protagónico, esta segunda entrega presenta la separación que tuvo con sus hermanos y su hija, Michelle. “Para mí era sumamente importante mostrar a un Luis Miguel más humano. En la primera temporada había un Luis Miguel más ingenuo, más niño, una víctima de lo que pasa con su papá, y en esta temporada me parecía más interesante ver a Luis Miguel malabareando su vida personal y profesional. Cada logro de su vida profesional viene acompañado de una tragedia personal enorme”, contó Boneta. Esta temporada presenta la época de los 2000 con un intérprete maduro y sobrio. “Después de haber trabajado en Terminator: Dark Fate, me hice muy amigo del maquillista Bill Corso, quien ya tiene dos Óscares y hace un trabajo fenomenal.
