Editorial
The Media Team presents the first issue of Bad Wolf, containing news from all committees, some Christmas goodness, a murder mystery and many more, for your consideration-all made possible by the wonderful imagination and hard work of the session’s journalists. On a different note, we’re both in the applied sciences. In our respective fields there can only be one solution to a problem; every truth is universal and unique in its nature. Kayser-Fleischer rings, dark rings encircling the iris of the eye, are a sign of a liver condition leading to copper deposits on tissues called Wilson’s disease – the validity of this statement has been proven and cannot be reconsidered. If a beam made of steel is stressed beyond its yield strength, it is not likely to break; it will break- this fact is also undisputed and not open to discussion. The challenge before you shares none of science’s need for one and only one truth. Your task is to merge all your individual correct answers, all the beliefs and opinions that you hold to be true into one, collective truth. A truth you can all stand behind and defend proudly. Science has majesty and nobility in its absoluteness. Your work, however, is about overcoming differences and joining forces towards one common goal; that is a celebration of some of human nature’s most brilliant sides. EYP murder It was a cold afternoon at Thessaloniki, all the officials were gathered and the pre-session trainings and teambuilding were almost over. Everyone was singing the “big fat pony” and running around. Suddenly, Nathan, the president collapses and falls on the wet winter grass. Panic follows, everyone starts running around in a frenzy, in, practically, the same manner as before. Panaghiotis, one of the chairs, hesitantly approaches Nathan and tries to help him. Nathan seems to be alright for a minute, as he almost rises, but then falls down again and, before collapsing with a small twitch, desperately tries to shout something. He could do nothing more than whisper. He was dead, as Panaghiotis said. People couldn’t believe their eyes. A minute or two passed, until they came to grips with the shocking reality. They started gathering around the corpse. Despina, the head organiser, shoved everyone aside and rushed to Nathan’s side, hoping that Panaghiotis could’ve been wrong. “Noo”, she cried, and to everyone’s surprise a tear ran down on her cheek. The next moments seemed like ages, the earth could’ve shook but Despina still wouldn’t have noticed anything apart from Nathan’s lifeless body; Nathan, the president of the session, for which she gave so much. Panos, the Deputy Head Organiser, was watching the entire incident from a distance, unable to get rid of that weird feeling in his gut. The police and the press were all over the incident, a scandal broke out and spread through the entire EYP community. The police and coroner ruled that Nathan died from natural causes. The future of the session was uncertain, as it was now without a president. Panos, on the other hand, just couldn’t accept the official version backed by the authorities. His gut told him otherwise. He decided to investigate on his own. To be continued…

AFCO I
The difficult path to the EP's elections
The committee on Constitutional Affairs I has to deal with a demanding issue that is directly linked to the youth. Participation of citizens in the elections has been continuously decreasing, with young people making a high percentage of the indifference ratings, many of them abstaining from voting in the European Parliament's (EP's) elections. How can the youth be encouraged, helped to understand already existing measures and seek out more efficient ones that will lead to the resolution of this important problem-which has a great impact on the efficiency of participatory democracy? Trustful Teo, Interesting Irene, Proud Paraskevi, Trouble-maker Triantafyllia, Saint Sofia, Sophisticated Sofi, Kidnapped Kleovoulos, New Nick, Amazing Anna, Dizzy Dafne, Kind Konstantina, Illegal Efthimis and Practical Penelope, with the guidance of Motivated Maria and Creative Christos are about to approach this topic in the most effective way possible and tackle the problem. Today, during Teambuilding, they were challenged by introducing themselves to one another, sharing personal sensitive information, developing a positive spirit within the team and forming smart strategies together in order to succeed in games. The team was soon successfully shaped! Sometimes the effectiveness of the strategies discussed and followed so as to overcome problematic situations were questionable, with cheating being a disturbingly common occurrence . However, honesty between them played an important role in the end. A combination of logic and innovation helped the team to handle some tricky situations. At points, chewing gum, for some of them, but mostly small pieces of chocolate were a source of energy in the committee. Time remained an obstacle at times but as the teambuilding procedure was reaching its end, the team managed to deal with it. There is absolutely a dire need for substantial involvement of youth in the European Elections. What will be AFCO I's approach to the topic? Will the team meet with the expectations of such a demanding issue? We'll soon figure it out!

Types of EYPers In the world of EYP you will meet thousands of delegates and you will notice how different they are from each other. As Charles Darwin once said, “diversity is the key to life” and this is why we can say with certainty that diversity in the personalities between delegates is what makes every session unique. Despite the fact that they all have special characteristics, they mostly tend to belong to some distinct groups, which we describe below.

"The Cool Guy"

"The Shy One" The Shy One is usually a beginner in EYP. He is hesitant about shouting Alele Kita Ponga as loudly as others, since he is not yet used to “EYP weirdness”. Nevertheless, he is an active listener, always taking notes, showing respect to everyone and often raising valuable points.

"The Hungry Guy" This is a person that attends EYP sessions in order to experience the multicultural cuisine. His favourite parts of the day are lunches, coffee breaks and dinners.
"Sex and the City Guy" This guy attends sessions with an ulterior purpose: to wear his favorite, most of the times brand-new clothes. He enjoys going shopping before sessions, and he always wakes up 2 hours before the wake-up call in order to get dressed.
"The Sleepy Guy" For the Sleepy Guy, the perfect moment in a Session is when he sleeps –which is almost all the time. He has the extreme capability of sleeping at any surface, at any place, at any time. His worst moments are Teambuilding games which involve running, since during these he cannot take a nap.
"The Moving Encyclopaedia" The Moving Encyclopaedia has done the best academic preparation in the committee, usually usually carries lots of papers and looks smart. He has a high contribution to the committee, engaging himself in interesting conversations indeed.

AFCO II
28TH NATIONAL SELECTION CONFERENCE EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT GREECE
by Dimitra Karakioulaki A sociable, loving committee
Friday, 13th December 2013 and AFCO II indulges itself dynamically into team-building. The day starts with funny and interesting name-games and everybody is feeling more relaxed and close to each other. Afterwards, they move on with the “Oi Oi” game. And yes, ladies and gentlemen, we have a committee which managed to break the record, completing a full circle in 3 seconds only! Many energizers, songs and games with other committees followed, and everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun and becoming even more extroverted. As far as the “more serious” games of teambuilding are concerned, things are getting more serious. The committee, using their most beautiful smiles, optimism and energy, worked cooperatively on solving problems and gave everyone the impression that they now hold the key for tomorrow’s procedure. Tomorrow the delegates will face the indeed challenging task of writing a resolution on the most effective ways of environmental protection in the European Union. Vital questions, such as, but not limited to, a common Europeanwide environmental protection strategy, and the question of sustainability versus subsidiary, will have to be addressed. I think committee work will be a blast for AFCO II, with all the delegates being eager on expressing their opinion, hopefully composing an amazing resolution.

DROI
DROI is the Committee on Human Rights, that is about to discuss democratic values as well as the importance of the preservation of human rights.
In this committee, Giorgina and Joshua Giovanni, my two beloved Italians, who are chairing, created a positive climate that every delegate would be lucky to be a part of. Asteris is the organiser of our committee that performs the best energizers in the session. I have to admit that I am surprised by how vivid and active every single delegate is and delighted by how so many strong and different characters managed to get along with each other and become friends by the end of the day. I will follow the rule, “ladies first”, so I will start with the ladies of our company. First of all, Antonia is a strong and opinionate girl that will come up with the most practical solution. Anastasia is the optimist one that will concentrate only on the good facts. Fotini just “doesn’t want to repeat the same things again and again”. Thanasis can’t cope with rudeness and wants everyone to be heard. Chara is a sweet and talented girl that draws amazing sketches. Dafni is the person that prefers to add new elements to the discussion rather than repeating what has already been said. Vagialena is the one who wants to sum up and get the easy things done so as to move on to more serious stuff. Maria is the girl with the big smile who transmits her positive energy to everyone just by looking at them. Olga is trying to keep the spirit of the committee high and not get out of track. Alexander the great is well organized and has an up-to-the-point approach. Rafael is a traditional, expressive Greek person that loves his city, Thessaloniki. George is a quite strong character that is eager to convince others that he is always right. Vin (the 3rd Italian of the committee) is very concentrated and helps others keep the lines. I wish them the very best for their work tomorrow!

-o-cake
Have you ever wondered what makes a recipe successful? Is it the ingredients or the love you put in it? The Committee on Employment and Social Affairs has the answer. Let’s have a closer look at their secret. In the beginning, they introduced themselves and tried to state what their contribution is going to be by choosing adjectives expressing them the most. So here we go. To make a cake, you need to have a solid basis, and what can be better than having Liquid Labros and Tough Theodore to make a steady and strong foundation for the others to build on. Then we have the cream, which has to be delicious. For this part of the cake, the Sweet Christina knows what it takes to make it tempting. However, we should not forget that these ingredients cannot interact if you do not mix them. Two spoons of Zoe –the Zumba dancer- and also Active Antonia- they’re responsible for turning all these different ingredients into one. Moreover, a good cake needs an appealing appearance to deserve the title of the best cake in the world- and more specifically, needs Gorgeous Georgia, Amazing Irene and Aerial Andreas. Then, Glorious George and Nasty Nellie spread the reputation of this cake everywhere. Visible Vicky is the cherry on the top, because she makes other people notice what this team has created. Any antes, such as Antigonos the Ant, that might possibly try to approach the delicious cake are welcome . Last but not least, if they want to take their cake to the next level, they also need two very vital parts. These are Intelligent Ilir and Magical Martin who will help make this cake into something extraordinary. Wait and taste what this committee will be preparing for you!
FEMM
When one hears about gender equality, women's rights is what comes in mind. Gender equality, however, means that men and women receive equal treatment. The committee on Gender Equality, also known as FEMM, is here to enforce this fundamental principal of the EU, as described in the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights, and fight against sex discrimination. Today's society is greatly affected by some anachronistic beliefs, like traditional gender stereotypes and even the notion that one gender is better than the other. Inequalities in the field of employment are also a common problem with regards to retirement age and parental leaves and also in terms of time and salaries .FEMM is literally a female committee, composed of 13 young beautiful girls and two energetic smiling chairs. Unison is going to be this committee’s most prominent trait in the next few days, as the united spirit that developed between the girls is remarkable. Trust is a feature that was definitely built during the day. The proof of it is no other than their tremendous success on their second attempt on the ''human knot'' , where some delegates played blind folded! Levitation was also a game that amazed passers-by. One of the funniest moments of the day was when FEMM encountered AFCO II in ''chicken-pilot''. Every delegate seemed to hide a talented actor inside hem and judging by the laughs, it was hard to tell which was the best chicken in the hatch. Tomorrow is expected to be a highly productive day with nothing but exceptional results and delegates as active and as energetic as possible. A useful piece of advice for everyone: be yourselves and enjoy the session!

Europe AFEcTs the entire world
Committees like AFET are often the most challenging, a challenge which lies on the difficulty of the topic. It’s exactly for that reason that when AFET delegates are well prepared, the debate heats up and becomes really fruitful - especially with such a delicate topic such as the trade and export of arms by EU countries, which brings substantial revenue to European countries, combined with concerns about human rights violations. Worlds collide regarding that issue. On one hand there are military companies that believe trading arms is just like trading any other commodity, on the other hand NGO’s and activists that oppose arms trading, and somewhere in between lies the EU and individual Member States. Balances are fragile and every course of action is sure to have both positive and negative consequences. What remains to be seen is what the delegates of AFET will choose to emphasize and if their proposed solutions will be accepted by General Assembly. Judging from the first day and the Teambuilding alone, one understands how promising this committee is! Truth is they were somewhat shy at the beginning , with all those awkward pauses, during the Name Games and the hesitation that often comes with experiencing something completely new and -let’s face it- a bit weird for those not used to it. Luckily, they quickly overcame these initial phases and started to really let loose and enjoy themselves. Some hesitant reactions towards TB only come to show a healthy diversity and will hopefully change as time goes by. All in all –and that’s not coming from a journo, but from the delegates themselves- they found that TB was really innovative, had a great deal of fun and especially enjoyed “Skin the snake”, “Spider’s web” and “Street fighter. According to a delegate, she didn’t at all expect to have so much fun and she laughed so hard her belly aches. Aside from the fun part, the delegates realized that TB has a purpose and really helped them bond and by the end of the day they really felt like one team, instead of a random bunch of people. They bonded not just between them, but with the chairs as well, proof of that being the way they talked about them. Delegates of AFET, you had a great start, just imagine what you and your chairs can accomplish and think this is only the beginning!

Apples It was a calm, slow day in a Greek city. You could see people coming and going, walking by the seafront. Where did they come from? Where are they going? The clouds in the sky were casting a thicker shadow on some, more than they did on others. These were the ones with worries in their minds. He could only see people with apples covering their faces. They were “personnages inconnus”. They were like the man in Magritte’s painting. This is not an apple. This is not an apple. What’s behind the apple? What’s the real thing? What do you call real? But this man did not have such abstract thoughts in his mind. It was another ordinary day. He was walking to work. Walking, absent-minded, he bumped into a beautiful woman. In one second, a million thoughts passed through his mind. One thought prevailed: “What should I do?”. But the day was usual and so were his ways. Offer an apology and keep walking. For one second, he saw a

Christmas It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The Christmas season is celebrated in different ways around the world, varying by country and region. Elements common to many areas of the world include the lighting of Christmas trees, the hanging of wreaths, Christmas stockings, candy canes, and the creation of Nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus Christ. However, we are sure that there are still some customs that you have never heard of. Use this article and your imagination as a guide to your Christmas journey around the globe! South Africa In South Africa there is a Christmas legend of a boy named Danny who was killed by his crazy grandmother because he stole the cookies meant for Santa, before Santa had gotten there. He is believed to haunt the homes and department stores in order to scare other kids from eating Santa’s cookies, ensuring the Christmas Spirit. Philipinnes Christmas in the Philippines is one of the biggest holidays on the calendar and is widely celebrated. The country has earned the distinction of celebrating the world's longest Christmas season, with Christmas carols heard from as early as 1st September. The season is traditionally ushered in by the nine-day dawn Masses that start on 16th December. Known as the Misas de Aguinaldo (Gift Masses) or Misa de Gallo (Rooster's Mass) in the traditional Spanish. These Masses are more popularly known in Tagalog as the Simbang Gabi. China In China, 25th December is not a legal holiday. However, it is a public holiday in China's special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. In the mainland, the small percentage of Chinese citizens who consider themselves Christians observe Christmas unofficially and usually privately. Many other individuals celebrate Christmaslike festivities even though they do not consider themselves Christians. Many customs, including sending cards, exchanging gifts, and hanging stockings are very similar to Western celebrations. Commercial Christmas decorations, signs, and other symbolic items are popular during December in large urban centres of mainland China, reflecting a cultural interest in this Western phenomenon. Sometimes, Christmas-themed retail marketing campaigns are launched as well. Mexico Christmas in Mexico includes over 30 uniquely Mexican traditions. Over nine days, groups of townspeople go from door to door, like when the parents of the unborn baby Jesus looked for shelter to pass the night when they arrived at Bethlehem, and are periodically called inside homes to participate in the breaking of a candy called: “piñata”

Airlines! Mexican Christmas festivities start on 12th December, with the feast of “La Guadalupana”, and end on 6th January with the Epiphany. At midnight on Christmas, many families place the figure of baby Jesus in their “nacimientos” (Nativity scenes), as a symbolic representation of Christmas in general. Santa Claus is the one who brings the children their gifts, but traditionally the Three Wise Men will fill the children's shoes with candies, oranges, tangerines, nuts, and sugar canes, and sometimes money or gold. El Salvador In El Salvador children celebrate Christmas by playing with firecrackers, fountains, such as the small volcancitos ("little volcanoes") and sparklers, estrellitas ("little stars"). Teenagers and young adults display bigger fireworks or Roman Candles. Families also have parties in which they dance and eat. Traditional Salvadoran Christmas dishes are sautéed turkey sandwiches in a baguette with lettuce and radishes, Salvadoran Tamales, and sweet bread for dessert. Drinks include hot chocolate, pineapple juice, Salvadoran horchata, Cherry Salvadoran horchata, and coffee. At 12:00 a.m. on December 25 everyone gathers around the Christmas tree and opens their presents. So, this is how Christmas is celebrated in distant countries. This Christmas remember; do not only open the presents, but mostly your heart!

You can have a look at some of the games the committee played here. Find the names of each game below and try to fit them in the boxes. Can you manage to figure out the right place of each game? You can only use the words in normal letters. Wish you luck and have fun!
