Resolutions
Placards "Get those placards in the air!" - a line often repeated by board members encouraging committees to participate in GA. Placards are used by committees to bring their points to the attention o of board members and are often decorated with colour and slogans in support of each committee.
Speeches An opportunity for delegates to speak in support of, defend, or criticise resolutions attempting to be passed by their own or other committees. Speeches are pronounced from the top of the General Assembly and a great chance to practice public speaking.
Flags Speeches
The most simple way to represent the diversity of countries within the EYP network. Our international delegates fly them proud, and they are often used in treasure hunts too.
Academic Preparation Kit The academic team have plenty of preparation work before a session to prepare topics and a theme for their committees and the entire session to discuss. A key part of this work, is the drafting of an APK, which includes Topic Overviews of the subjects and circumstances of each committees discussion throughout the session.
Guests
Topic experts and real life local representatives are examples of some of the special guests that often attend EYP session to give further insights to participants and inspire their progression within active citizenship.
Eurovillage
As mentioned earlier, the diversity and mix of cultures and people is what makes EYP such an insightful experience. An important aspect of the fun side to sessions is Eurovillage, where participants showcase food, music, clothing and other memorabilia from their home countries or regions.
Committee Work
This is the main working part of the session, in which each committee concerns themselves with their assigned relevant topic. The delegates brainstorm and debate their issue, eventually coming to compromises and forming a joint opinion and vision to deal with the problem put in front of them. Their solutions are delivered in the form of Resolutions, a booklet outlining the issues they identified within the topic and solutions to said issues.
Transfers They're different in every single venue a session is held, but transfers are key to getting us all from A to B and back again! Let it be busy city streets, green riversides, or spacious campus, an organiser leads a group to their destination, customarily accompanied by a song, dance or just a chat to entertain along the way :)
Teambuilding This part of the session focuses on developing communication and group dynamics among the delegates in a committee. Under the direction of an experienced and trained chairperson, each committee engages in a variety of activities together. It's all about getting to know each other in this part of the session, and often people's first experience of EYP - you'll remember many of the games for a while afterwards!
Energisers A brief activity that is intended to increase energy in a committee or team by engaging them in physical activity, laughter, or in ways that engage the members cognitively, like problem solving. They can also be used to 'break the ice', and also allow spaces to be created to debrief in, or promote spontaneity in a team - Chairpersons and Delegates alike always have a favourite energiser.
Camera The most important piece of equipment in a media team member's toolkit, Cameras can be seen all about EYP sessions throughout the venues and different events happening. They are there to capture the emotions in that moment, let that be in Committee Work, General Assembly, Teambuilding or any other aspect of the event. The Media Team strive to photography these moments, gather them as a collective, for the session to remembered by one and all!
General Assembly This part of the session focuses on developing communication and group dynamics among the delegates in a committee. Under the direction of an experienced and trained chairperson, each committee engages in a variety of activities together. It's all about getting to know each other in this part of the session, and often people's first experience of EYP - you'll remember many of the games for a while afterwards!
Euroconcert Similar to Eurovillage, Eurovillage, Euroconcert is all about getting involved, showcasing your passion and in this case, your musical and other talents! Over the years, Euroconcert shows have produced some of the most memorable moments from EYP sessions, that include moving ballads, incredible dance routines, hilarious comedy, poetry recitals, or all-round, quirky variety shows. Whatever it might be you have a skill, don't be afraid of getting up on stage and showing it off :)
Imagine Join us! Universally symbolising the closing of any given EYP session, the playing of Imagine after General Assembly has concluded brings tears of joy and sadness that the event is coming to an end. The poignant lyrics of the 1971 song by John Lennon often echo a lot of the goals and sentiment of EYP as a whole, to promote cooperation, peace, and inclusivity. The anthem also reinvigorates the wish for EYPers to meet each other again 'Somewhere in Europe' and encourage new participants to do so as well.
Photo Albums
Published post-session, and after the hard work of editing and media teams for many hours, photo albums from each day of the session, or of seperate teams or committees are a lovely safekeep and memory to hold onto to recollect new friends, experiences, or just general good times!
