An Introduction Dear fellow members of the European Youth Parliament, The time has finally arrived for EYP Sweden to open the doors to the 2020 Regional Sessions; taking us from Malmö, to Gothenburg, and finally to Eskilstuna. This year the sessions fall under the common theme “Dawning with Tomorrow”, which focuses on every participant’s chance to contemplate on the position that the world finds itself in today, and be creative in seeking ways to stake out a positive future. Unfortunately for all of us, the start of the new decade may not have been as positive as we all hoped for a few months ago; but, that gives us even greater reason than ever before to embrace the challenges and find routes to a positive future. Our success in doing this will affect what shape the world finds itself in upon its dawn with tomorrow; and the National Board of EYP Sweden is full of anticipation for the brilliant ideas that participants will present at the 2020 regional sessions. Usually this would be the time where the National Board of EYP Sweden declares that it is time for all of you to start writing or preparing applications to the regional sessions. However, this year is different. 2020 is not like any other year. EYP Sweden has over the past weeks been assessing the situation caused by the pandemic of Covid-19, and evaluating the circumstances in which the regional sessions may take place this year. The result of these assessments and evaluations, is the conclusion and decision of the National Board of EYP Sweden that participation at the 2020 regional sessions will be restricted to members of EYP Sweden who are resident in Sweden. This is not the decision that we w anted to take; but it is one which is necessary, as a step in taking responsibility for society at large and not contributing to international travel; and one which we are hoping that all of you will understand. In its deliberations, the National Board of EYP Sweden has appreciated that many months remain until November and that there is a chance that the situation with the pandemic will be much improved by then. However, that is not a chance that we can count on and trust will realise, given the level of uncertainty that the pandemic has posed and keeps posing to society. Therefore, before planning of the regional sessions continues further and the calls for o fficialsopen, the National Board of EYP Sweden desired to make this decision, in order to give the regional sessions greater certainty in the planning process and, in the end, the best chances of taking place. While it is understandable that this decision is disappointing to many, we hope for your understanding, and appreciation of how difficult it was to make this decision.

An Introduction Therefore, the National Board of EYP Sweden is pleased to announce that the call for Presidents, Editors and Organisers will open on Monday 11/05/2020 for members of EYP Sweden who are resident in the country. Please do not think twice about applying and making your contribution to the 2020 regional sessions; because as said, EYP Sweden needs you to join together. To all members not from EYP Sweden or resident in the country, who we unfortunately are not able to welcome to the 2020 regional sessions: E YP Sweden will miss you and the National Board hopes to see you return to our sessions at soonest possibility. As always, should you have any questions about the information provided or the 2020 regional sessions overall; please do not hesitate to contact Vice President Paul Stone on paul.stone@eup.seor Project Coordinator Joel Hultman on joel.hultman@eup.se.

Sincerely on behalf of the National Board of EYP Sweden, Paul Stone, Vice President of EYP Sweden.

Vision

” Through thick and thin ” Taking a look around the world today, it is standing before the threat of several potential global disasters. Climate change, armed conflicts, and the Covid-19 pandemic. All of these are just a few examples of causes to loss of life, fear, and poverty. At the same time, civilisation on an international scale is aiming higher than ever before; working incredibly hard for constant technological development, and social prosperity around the globe. However, when catastrophe strikes, there is a tendency among nations to focus internally, and forgetting about the importance of standing united through the storm. In Europe, this was clearly shown in 2015 during the recent refugee crisis, when borders closed one after the other; leaving people vulnerable and alone. Since unity is of great importance to tackle such disasters, the question of why in these times nations disperse remains an enigma. Malmö 2020 - 10th Southern Regional Session of EYP Sweden, will bring focus to the power of collaboration and the vitality of unity in meeting the eye of the storm, not least as a step in the way of ensuring that the world finds itself undivided and in peace once the disaster has passed. With diverse backgrounds and a common aim, participants will gather at Malmö 2020 to enjoy new friendships, and fruitful discussions on how to jointly meet the demands of their shared future.

9th Western Regional Session of EYP Sweden

Vision

Uniting for a financially sustainable future Gothenburg 2020 - 9th Western Regional Session of EYP Sweden is dedicated to ensuring an economically sustainable future for Europe, and the world at large. In order for future generations to grow up in a world full of possibilities, it is essential that nations cooperate in creating a financially stable future together. Seeing the negative impact of Covid-19 on the European- and global economy, and its complex nature, the world is once again reminded of the dependency between countries and the necessity to act together. A country alone cannot prevent or solve a recession, and economic prosperity can not be achieved without international cooperation. Therefore, the EU holds a crucial role in creating sustainable economic growth, not only for the countries within the EU; but also on a global scale. This includes finding ways of enabling and optimising the European Single Market, in order to maximise its benefits and constituting a solution to economic instabilities. It also includes protecting European citizens from unemployment and personal debt; as well as ensuring that nations can financially support excellent welfare systems. Gothenburg 2020 - 9th Western Regional Session of EYP Sweden will create a platform where young adults can discuss how to secure this economic sustainability, and how to ensure that citizens of Europe together can unite in that movement. Hopefully, if participants bring their voices together, this message of Gothenburg 2020 might echo all the way to Brussels.

10th Eastern Regional Session of EYP Sweden

Vision

Encourage the voices, ensure the justice Nowadays, the youth is constantly reminded of their importance in contributing to society. In the current global situation, the world needs their hope and fresh perspective to tackle its most pressing issues. However, it is not an easy situation that living generations leave the next ones with, and this is something that decision-makers of today are aware of. The solutions for gender inequality, the climate crisis and foreign conflicts might seem far away and almost unachievable at times, and these problems might be seen as hurdles too big to cross. Eskilstuna 2020 - 10th Eastern Regional Session of EYP Sweden is dedicated to the message that the youth can overcome these hurdles with a little encouragement. The mission of the session is to make the participants realise that they have the full power of speaking up about what they feel is wrong and to change what needs to be changed. It is to provide strength to the participants and to grant them the incentive as well as inspiration to cultivate more knowledge and keep up the fight for a better future. It is to make the participants believe that any hurdle can be overcome and that one voice today, can make a huge difference tomorrow. Eskilstuna 2020 sets out to channel the strength of those voices in the fight for social- and political justice. Combatting discrimination, corruption and injustices is part of the process of ensuring a society where everyone feels safe, valued and able to contribute to a better world. The participants of the session will be enabled to make this contribution, and collaborate in ensuring that justice is served. An equal world. A happy world. A just world. That is what Eskilstuna 2020 sets out to participate in the creation of.
