The Session
The 17th National Selection Conference of EYP Sweden will specifically focus on how society
should adapt to climate change. Regardless of how well we do to mitigate CO2 emissions and pollution, societies both across Europe and other continents will be forced to come up with solutions to problems caused by changes to the climate. Droughts, wildfires, starvation, climate migration and rising sea levels are examples of the issues that will be affecting us globally. We see this session as a possibility for young people to come together and ponder, innovate and suggest solutions to these future challenges.
“Innovate, Adapt, Overcome - Future-proofing society” With the ongoing debate on the consequences of climate change, addressing these contemporary challenges in a pragmatic and clear way is of importance. In order to improve our chances of transforming the economy and collective lifestyles to suit the challenges of climate change, society will require swift action and innovation. Taking this into consideration, a fundamental part of Skelleftå 2021 will focus on the ways communities can adapt to the climate challenges of the foreseeable future, while taking into account the differences in ability and climate vulnerability between nations. The consequences of climate change will impact society across all sectors. Whether these challenges will primarily change our economy, agriculture, technology or culture is up for debate. Whether society will be prepared is up for discussion. Whether you will be at Skellefteå 2021 and help in future-proofing society is up to you. Skellefteå 2021 aims to illuminate the challenges around the consequences of climate change on society, and bring youths to the table in order to enable them to affect their future in the ways that they see fit. All who participate will leave Skellefteå 2021 with a deeper understanding of the consequences of climate change, and carry with them the tools to assist society's future challenges.
The City Skellefteå is located close to the coast in the northeastern part of Sweden. Historically, Skellefteå has been associated with mining, industry and Sami culture (the indigenous people of most of Finnoscandia). Today, the city is known for their hockey team Skellefteå AIK and several famous Swedish artists. With a population of approximately 30 000 people in the city, and 70 000 in the commune, Skellefteå is one of the largest cities in the north of Sweden. Skellefteå has their own campus with a focus on engineering programs and natural sciences.

Call for Editor
We the Project Managers, Robin Andersson and Vineck Kumar Posaria bid you a very warm
welcome to Skellefteå 2021 - The 17th National Session of EYP Sweden! We are thrilled to see that you are considering applying as Editor for our Session!
The role of an Editor seems vague to many delegates at first sight. It is not until they see the results of the editor and the Media Team’s hard work that they realise that the role requires vision and creativity. Therefore, we are searching for an individual who possesses these qualities, and more. We believe that an editor must not only have a vision and creativity, but also a drive to see their projects through. We believe that an editor should not only be a good leader, but also an inspiration to their team. Someone who not only guides the members of the team, but also encourages them to realise their own visions and goals for the session. A great editor does all of these things, while also creating a coherent image of the session. An image that the participants of Skellefteå 2021 will cherish and look back upon with joy. As the Editor of our session you will be given great freedom to do what you deem best. You will not only be capturing the moments of the session - you will play a crucial part in creating the memorable moments of Skellefteå 2021 that people will look back upon. As Head Organisers, we will always be close at hand to provide you and your team with the tools you need to realise your vision. In return we expect a high sense of responsibility, motivation and a commitment to the session and its vision. We also ask that you possess the ability and willingness to openly communicate with us and others, so that we can shape the session together. The general theme for Skellefteå 2021 revolves around the effects and consequences of climate change upon society.
