Editorial Vision Dear potential applicants,

Thank you for taking interest in applying to Malmö 2021 - 11th Southern Regional Session of EYP Sweden. My goal as the media team is to show the importance of the often understated work we will conduct. I want potential applicants to know that in their role, they will be given freedom and ownership over the work they conduct. I am looking for creative individuals who will bring innovations and find new ways to conduct the work of the team. The main focus will be put on one's well-being and collaboration with the academic team to deliver quality content. The Editorial Team will ensure a creative and challenging atmosphere for journalists and hence make room for individual growth and development in means of media experience. I plan on holding extensive project brainstorming and development modules with clear feedback as to best produce meaningful projects. Collaboration and active involvement will be vital aspects for the team’s success. A successful team can create new concepts and use the resources available to produce different content. The usage of social media is clearly a strong way to distribute the media projects to the outside world. We want to display to the rest of the network the work that we can be proud of as a team.

Jury Vision Dear potential applicant, Thank you for your interest in Malmo 2021 - 11th Southern Regional Session of EYP Sweden! Hopefully my vision will resonate with you and you want to help us make this event a success!

The theme of the session is "Proclaiming peace and declaring democracy" and I feel this is especially important for any jury team. We cannot create a good and fair overview of delegates if we have conflict or are non-democratic. Therefore, my vision is for a transparent and approachable jury team, where everyone’s opinions hold equal weight. There will be no hierarchy, but a focus on pre-session training and bonding to grow our confidence in our own abilities and in each other.

Whilst I aim to create a relaxed and informal atmosphere, we should still always take it seriously. It's important to remember the reason we are doing this in the first place. We are selecting delegates who we believe will positively contribute to EYP and who will develop from this opportunity. Every delegate is important and it is our responsibility and privilege to unbiasedly evaluate delegates, to provide them with constructive feedback.

This applies to our own team too, as we should be able to look inwardly and self evaluate, in order that the whole team can work together to develop ourselves and each other. We all should be comfortable with expressing our opinions and never be afraid of asking questions or voicing our problems, working together to resolve conflict.

As we have a good overview of the whole session, we have a unique opportunity to promote cooperation between all officials. I would love my jury members to be able to contribute their own ideas to this, and to all the other aspects mentioned in this vision!

Editorial Vision Dear reader, Thank you for showing interest in joining the Regional Session of Borås. A city in the west of Sweden, which stands for a broad cultural diversity. A place where cultures meet and mix is most definitely the perfect setting for an EYP session.

I envision the Media Team of Borås to be a variety of individuals with different cultural backgrounds and ideas, with the openness to learn from each other. As a journalist, you will get the space to express yourself in a creative and personal way, without being limited to any form. I intend for our team to work together closely and in a good atmosphere but to simultaneously be able to express each one’s individuality. For the Editorial Team, my idea is to ensure that the MTM’s get the help and guidance they need, without restricting their freedom to create. The Editorial Assistants will also get the chance to take initiative in leading a team, as well as create their own projects and partake in creating and mastering the final output.

Taking knowledge from the long period of digital sessions across EYP, we will implement some of those elements into our work. Before the Session’s start, we will hold digital modules so that you can come to the Session a little more prepared. It is extremely important for me that this does not become a stressful experience for anyone, and is rather a fun, joyful memory you can look back at. That being said, the work will be structured with the intention for you to have a good amount of time to finish and master your projects, without impossible deadlines.

My goal for this Session is that every Team Member goes home, having learnt something new, or mastered the skills they already possess. The work will take place in a friendly and non-judgemental environment, where you, as a Team Member can learn and grow.

Jury Vision First, thank you for showing interest in the RSC Borås 2021 and reading this vision document! It is my great honour and pleasure to be leading the jury team and the selection process for this event.

Following the session's theme “Safe and Secure – a Sustainable Future” we will strive to create a space where everyone feels safe, accepted, and encouraged to show their true potential. For many of us it will be the first physical event in a while, or maybe ever, so keeping this in mind will be very important. It has been a long time since we had so much social exposure and making sure nobody gets overwhelmed will be one of our key priorities.

I am looking for 2-3 people to join me for the jury team. To guarantee the fairest selection possible, I am looking for a diverse team both in terms of individuality and experience. I am especially looking for individuals who are self-reflected and aware of their own biases. When writing your application please take a minute and remember how you perceived the jury when you were a delegate and think about how you want to fulfil this role.

Editorial Vision

Dear future Media Team Member,

I am delighted to be writing this as the editress of Eskilstuna RS. It is a pleasure to be part of the leadership of the session and I am sure it will be a success. I am looking for 1 or 2 editorial assistants and up to 7 journalists who want to be part of Eskilstuna RS 2021 who together will be able to unlock their full potential in an open and friendly environment.

Freedom and Creativity One of my main objectives is for the members of the media team to feel and really have the freedom to create the projects that they deem appropriate, being able to get out of the conventional and what we have already seen so far. I am looking for people who are willing to leave the marked path that we have been seeing for some time and are willing to innovate.

Hybrid work For a year and a half ago we have been seeing work by media teams that we had not been used to. For this session I would like not only to focus on what we have already done so far, but also to be able to incorporate and adapt the new type of projects that were born during the pandemic and post-pandemic and to be able to implement them in our session and take advantage of this.

Inter-team collaboration Sounds obvious right? Although it is something that we all believe is essential during and before the session, it does not always happen. I want to ensure that the teams that need it can count on the help and collaboration of the media team, so from the beginning I will be open to all kinds of suggestions regarding this issue. Safety and wellness I wanted to emphasize that at all times you will be working in a healthy and safe space, at no time is it intended that being part of the team has a negative impact on any aspect of any of the team members.

Jury Vision Historically the role of the jury has often wavered between being invisible to other session participants and being ever-present in the minds of those being evaluated. While it is our responsibility to gain as much insight into the delegates we are tasked with evaluating, I aim for my team to be part of the session as a whole and to invoke a feeling of comfort rather than fear in our delegates. It is my hope that the jury team at Eskilstuna 2021 will be as open and inviting yet unbiased as possible.

Overall the Jury Team actually follows a structure closely resembling that of a committee. We are given a platform to share our ideas and opinions, have respectful and open discussions, find common solutions and present a final result. During this session I plan to, alongside my team, work more with delegates and clear up any uncertainties of our role at the session. This also aims at deflating nervous or competitive energies between delegates since EYP is an incredible opportunity and I would not wish for any of them to miss even a minute of their session experience because they are worried about selection results.

We are trusted to make an appropriate and objective selection during the session and for the Swedish NC - a responsibility that is not to be taken lightly. I am therefore looking for a team that is committed to communicating constructively and openly, participating actively, as well as interacting supportively and respectfully. All to allow the session and the selection process to run its course smoothly for both us as a team and the delegates in our care.
