An Introduction Dear potential participants, it’s my greatest honour to announce that the call for Editors, Heads of Jury, Vice Presidents, and Chairpersons for EYP Sweden’s Regional Sessions of 2019 has officially opened! This year we’ve managed to find host cities in all of our regions, and therefore four Regional Sessions will take place. In Umeå the session will be presided by Noel Lessinger (LU), in Eskilstuna it will be presided by Hannes Holemans (BE), in Gothenburg it will be presided by Lars Eirik Hovland (NO), and finally in Malmö Stella Celine Kim (DE) will preside the session. We are incredibly thrilled that these four very experienced individuals have decided to join us, and we’re sure that they’ll help make this year’s Regional Sessions amongst the most special to date. This year we’ve chosen ”the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2030”*as the overarching theme for the sessions, since we believe that informing young people of the SDGs is of high importance. Beyond this, the Head Organisers have together with the Presidents developed specific session themes for their respective session. This together with the Presidents’ visions can be found in this booklet. The sessions provide a diverse range of themes, so we’re certain that you’ll find something that speaks to you! On a more practical level, the Head Organisers are at this time already working hard in planning the sessions, and we aim to establish a high organisational quality for all four events. To help ensure an equally high academical quality, we’re now looking for motivated Vice-Presidents and Chairpersons to take on the challenge of creating a high educational value for the participants. We’re also looking for Editors to provide creative projects and content for the sessions, and they will of course be given a lot of individual freedom to do so. Lastly, we are looking for Heads of Jury to work closely with us in shaping this year’s National Selection Process. Aside from themes and visions, this booklet also provides you with questions for all the roles. The applications will be sent in through the Member’s Platform, and they should be submitted on or before the 6th of September 23:59 CEST. Officials will not pay any participation fee at EYP Sweden’s Sessions. The selection panels are eagerly awaiting your applications, and wish you the best of luck!
Warmly, Joel Hultman, Project coordinator of EYP Sweden

Session Theme
”Together we stand for a united future” The session’s theme is revolved around creating and experiencing the session together. We hope for the session to provide the participants with an enjoyable and fruitful experience. Our aim is to create an environment where everyone has the chance to make the most out of this opportunity regardless of what they seek from attending the session.
Session Vision
There are many different reasons why we participate in EYP and all of them are equally right. What’s most important is knowing what you wish to gain from the session and what you have to offer. At Eskilstuna 2019 participants will get the opportunity to take ownership over their own experience and develop at their own pace regardless of their level of experience. Should you wish to join us at the session we offer you a great time, a bunch of friendly smiles, a lot of hugs and all the support we can offer you. In return, we hope you will make the most of this opportunity and together we will make this session a success. Should you decide to join us as Editor(s), you will become part of a cooperative and supportive leadership. You will be given the freedom to implement your vision for the media team as you please and include your vision for the session in the unified leadership vision. You and the media team are equally important as the other teams and I want to create a leadership that promotes inter-team cooperation and leads by example. Should you choose to join me as a Vice-President, I will offer you my full support to grow within the role, including Vice-President-specific modules, a chance to help develop the chairs’ team and a voice to share your opinion within the board. As Vice-President you will not be chairing yourself, instead you will focus on providing individual support to the chairpersons both academically and emotionally. Additionally, there will be room for you to set up your own projects and let your creativity flow. Lastly, should you want to join me as a Chairperson, I will offer you the board’s full support to develop your chairing skills, find your own chairing style and experiment to your heart’s’ content. It does not matter whether you are a first timer or a more experienced chairperson, you will be given individual support to meet your needs and to try out new things. I hope to establish an open and friendly chairs’ team where all chairpersons can benefit from each others’ experiences and depend on each other as a true team. If the idea of working together in a friendly and supportive environment appeals to you then please do not hesitate to apply and (potentially) join Michelle and myself in shaping Eskilstuna 2019!

Session Theme
”Welcoming 2020 and looking beyond.” With 2020 just around the corner and great advancements being made everyday, it is more important than ever to reflect on how far we have come and how far we have yet to go. Therefore it is paramount to us as a society to take advantage of the greatest technological and scientific advancements made in recent years while being weary of the tremendous risks we face if these advancements are left unchecked.
Session Vision
A Regional session is, for a lot of EYPers, their first step into being an Official. For Chairs, it is their first time leading a committee on their own; for Media Team Members it is their first time taking on a project on their own; and for Editors or Vice-Presidents it is their first time in a leadership position. Trying something new might sound daunting and scary, resulting in nervousness and not being able to realise one’s full potential. However I believe that given the right tools, everything is possible and one will be able to succeed. My goal for this session will be to; provide everyone with the necessary tools to show their full potential and to make this session a success for every participant, Officials and Delegates alike. In concrete, this means that for the Chairs Team special focus will be placed on Training and Personal Development. Together with the Vice-Presidents, I wish to hold thorough Training Modules, covering all the basics they need for their first time chairing. The aim will not be to experiment just for the sake of it, but rather to do the basic things right, in order for the Chairs to gain a solid foundation on which they can build upon in future sessions. For the more experienced Chairs, but also for first-time Chairs, I want to provide a framework in which they can experiment if they wish to, and give them all the freedom and support they need. Experimentation and Innovation are great, as long as they are done with a clear purpose. It is at this point where Training Needs, Analysis, and Personal Development Plans will come into play, in order for the Board to tailor its work to the entire Chairs Team. Together with providing the necessary tools, I also wish to create a safe environment for all participants to enjoy, either their first time in a new role, or even their first time at an EYP event. In this safe environment, all participants should be encouraged to try out new things, to succeed, but even more to fail and to learn from these mistakes, because this is exactly what defines us as a person and how we grow: how we learn from the mistakes we’ve made.

Session Theme
”Personal development - the Path to Potential” With personal development placed as objective, Gothenburg 2019 will function as a catalyst for this allowing individuals to better themselves both for their own gain in addition to the society of which they live in. Therefore, as personal development is individual, the session will be catered towards every individual to allow them to progress and reach the potential they possess.
Session Vision Dear potential applicant,
Thank you for showing interest in our session! It is my great pleasure to finally launch the call for Editor(s), Head of Jury, Vice Presidents and Chairpersons to Gothenburg 2019 - 8th Western Regional Session of EYP Sweden. This call booklet will detail what we expect of potential applicants, but more importantly, what you can expect of those of the session. Regional sessions are, in many ways, a ‘training ground’ for fresh EYPers - a first glimpse at what is to me, and likely to you as well, one of the best youth organisations in Europe. That is why we have chosen to focus on personal development at the session. It is a great opportunity for you to try out a new position, or new techniques in a position you have filled in the past. Our world, and unfortunately Scandinavia with it, is more divided than ever between the haves and the have nots, the radicals and the conservatives, the immigrants and the natives. Sweden is a great example of a country where different cultures come together to promote each other’s uniqueness. I wish for us to come together, open up our hearts, and celebrate our individual achievements together. As the President of the session, and as a returning official to an EYP Sweden event, I can assure you that this will be a wholesome session. I have full confidence in Ida and Samir, the session’s Head Organisers, as well as in the Board of EYP Sweden. They have been working on this project for months, and I cannot wait to invite you to see all the hard work put into action. If you have not been to a Scandinavian session in the past: It is an experience not to be missed. To potential Editors, I can tempt you with a President, Head Organisers and a National Board that are committed to being open and welcoming to new ideas. Personally, the projects I have enjoyed the most are the ones where different teams come together to redefine how e.g. Academic Preparation Kits, Team Buildings and General Assemblies are conducted. Trying out new ideas and methods is at the core of personal development. We hope to see your application riddled with new, inspirational ideas! To a potential Head of Jury, I will personally assure you that you will be included in all our work - to the extent that you would like to be included, of course. I have seen one too many times how the Jury team is often ‘forgotten’ and left to its own devices. We will strive to inspire you to try out new methods and ideas, and to immerse yourself further into your role as Head of Jury. We will be with you every step of the way. I cannot wait to see your application, and to finally meet you! To potential Vice Presidents, you will be my closest co-workers during this session. Whether you are a first-time VP or this is your tenth time VPing, I will make sure that you too get to develop yourself and your skills during the session. As a Norwegian, I am rather fond of flat power structures – the Chairs team in general, and the Board in particular, should function as a team, not a dictatorship. I will be wholeheartedly open to your ideas and suggestions, and greatly value whatever experience you can bring to the table! I hope you share my enthusiasm, and decide to apply to the session. Last, but not at all least, to the potential Chairpersons: You are the team working closest with the delegates. You will know their names, their hobbies, their quirks – and therefore, you are invaluable to me, and to the session in general. The session leadership and I are committed to learning of your past experiences, and to draw on that in order to develop and perfect your chairing techniques. Whether you have chaired once, twice or never, I invite you to join my team to try out things we have never done before. I believe this is going to be a great experience – and I would like you to join me in it! I hope to see your application - and to see you in Gothenburg in November. Lycka till,
-Eirik A. Hovland (NO), President of the Session
