Oral Health for Children by Dr. Jamilee Susan John, Royal Dental Studio

Teaching your child proper oral care at a young age is an investment in their health that will pay lifelong dividends. You can start by setting an example, taking good care of your own teeth sends a message that oral health is something to be valued. Anything that makes taking care of teeth fun, like brushing along with your child or letting them choose their own toothbrush, encourages proper oral care.

For more information, call the Royal Dental Studio on 1724 6800 or Toll Free 8000 1090. *Article courtesy of Mums in Bahrain

To help your children protect their teeth and gums could greatly reduce their risk of getting cavities. Teach them to follow these simple steps: Brush twice a day with an ADA accepted fluoride toothpaste to remove plaque – the sticky film on teeth that’s the main cause of tooth decay. Floss daily to remove plaque from between your teeth and under the gum line, before it can harden to tartar. Once tartar has formed, it can only be removed by a professional cleaning. Eat a well-balanced diet that limits starchy or sugary foods, which produce plaque acids that cause tooth decay. When you do eat these foods, try to eat them with your meal instead of as a snack – the extra saliva produced during a meal helps rinse food from the mouth. Use dental products that contain fluoride, including toothpaste. Make sure that your children’s drinking water is fluoridated. If your water supply, municipal, well or bottled, does not contain fluoride, your dentist or pediatrician may prescribe daily fluoride supplements. Take your child to the dentist for regular check-ups once every six months. fact magazine .33

shoe Artist

Hessa dares to be different with her talent. This is her favourite shoe and she wishes to make an entire Disney collection!

48. fact magazine

With abundant flow of ideas, self-taught artist Hessa Hassan chose shoes as the medium to express her art. Pallavi Ramesh chats with Heesa to learn how she turns a simple canvas shoe into an attractive fashion-forward piece, and her digital art and business venture ‘Aitch’.

A

shoe is a valuable asset in a girl’s closet”, says 21-year-old Hessa, who is passionate about the idea that one can make a plain canvas shoe beautiful and interesting with imaginative creations on it. “It can be a beautiful mermaid or Marilyn Monroe, I sketch anything that the client would want to see on his or her shoe”, explains Hessa, who loves cartoon characters and also claims it to be one of the highest selling points among clients. Hessa had the streak of an artist since the age of five. “I always held a pencil and doodled randomly”, mentions Hessa. In school, Hessa used to casually sketch on her shoes using markers, which she found very interesting and wanted to learn more about shoe painting. “When I started hunting for online tutorials, I came across this beautiful shoe which was hand painted, from that minute I was awe-struck, so I started reading about it and I realised this is what I need to aim for”, shares Hessa. From that day on Hessa concentrated on how to better herself as an artist. She trained in Digital Art in 2010, which she still applies and started her venture ‘Aitch’ in 2011.

ARTS

“I love visiting museums and art exhibitions, I pick up those little design details, which help me better my final piece of art.” ‘Aitch’, the elongated version of her initial ‘H’, is Hessa’s shoe art business. When asked how it started, she says, “My art teacher at school was my first client. I took my designed shoe for the art exhibition in school, and to my surprise, she insisted on buying it.” Hessa has big dreams with Aitch. “I was busy with my studies and University, which I completed this year. I hope to broaden the scale of ‘Aitch’ to attract more customers”, she reveals. “When a client approaches me, they either have their theme decided, or they want similar ones as posted on Aitch.” She buys the canvas shoes from H&M or New Look stores, and says, “they have the type I want, but sometimes they’re out of stock and I feel stranded then.” After buying the shoes and deciding on design, begins the creative process. “I sketch the design on paper, with a dummy shoe draw on it”, explains Hessa. She then scans the paper and quickly lays the colour on photoshop to get the feel of the final product. “I need to see the colour combinations and style before I sketch it on the shoe”, she says. Hessa designs only on canvas shoes and uses permanent acrylic paint for canvas. Every artist takes inspiration to create their own exceptional designs. “I am an introvert by nature, which makes me a keen observer than a talker”, she expresses. Hessa has one advice for those considering a similar career in shoe art or taking up Digital Art. She says if one recognises the artist within and has the determination, then success will follow. “Dream big and work hard towards achieving it”, she concludes.

D “My ultimate dream is to design shoes for corporate clients and see my creations in big stores. With shoe designing I will also work on enhancing my Digital Art skills.”

On the Record Pop/Rock Yes

By JASON MRAZ

Back with a resounding Yes! (that’s the statement-making title of the singersongwriter’s fifth studio album), Jason Mraz has a brand new 14-track record to share with the world. And he’s so excited that he kick-started ‘Mraz Mondays’, releasing one single a week leading up to the album release date. We particularly love the intimate sound of Love Someone and the fact there’s a few purely-acoustic choices that will leave you with a musical chill.

POP/CONTEMPORARY

Lines & Circles By O-Town

It’s been a decade since O-Town has released new music, but the would-be five-piece (now there’s just four of them as heartthrob Ashley Parker Angel has decided not to join for the reunion) is back for another shot at the mainstream music chart. If we’re completely honest (and we were actually big fans in their Liquid Dreams and All Or Nothing days) we’re really missing the five-part guy harmony so central to the boy band formula. The now foursome made up of Dan Miller, Erik-Michael Estrada, Trevor Penick and Jacob Underwood made their comeback with the smooth-sounding, high-note-hitting Skydive, and if this single is anything to go by then expect a more mature album displaying the band’s emoting skills! However, as they once said, ‘I want it all, or nothing at all’ – we just can’t accept their return without baby-faced Ashley!

POP/ROCK/PUNK

5 Seconds of Summer

By5Secondsofsummer

Are they pop? Rock? Who knows, and, musically-speaking, who cares? All we know is that 5 Seconds Of Summer have given us two mega-strong singles – She Looks So Perfect and Don’t Stop – and their debut, self-titled album really lives up to the hype. Kiss Me Kiss Me with chunky guitar chords and an upbeat chorus is one of our faves. Let’s just take them as they are; four guys playing instruments and dominating the stage with their pop/rock melodies.

Fully Booked CRIME FICTION

Mr Mercedes

By STEPHEN KING

He’s called it his “first hard-boiled detective book” and boy the critics are loving it! In a high-stakes, high-suspense race against time, three heroes try to stop a lone killer from blowing up thousands. Taking place in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed people are lined up at a job fair when, without warning, a lone driver in a stolen Mercedes runs over innocent folk, backing up, and charging again. The crime is left unsolved until six months later when retired cop Bill Hodges receives a crazed letter from the self-confessing perp. Mr Mercedes is a chilling story of good vs evil, with gritty characters in a dangerous world! It’s another great book from the undisputed master of suspense.

Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI fact magazine .53

ISLAND RIDES

For our backto-school issue, we review Audi’s seven-seater Q7, a luxurious behemoth that is easily one of the best family carriers on the market today.

54. fact magazine

O

n the face of it, the Q7 has changed little since it was first launched back in 2005, save for a few minor facelifts and extra offerings in terms of gadgetry. However, the biggest change for this generation is the excellent 3.0l V6 turbo charged engine, which replaces the hugely thirsty 4.2l V8 that formerly powered the Q7. Despite the V6 being smaller and more efficient, it is still faster and more powerful than the V8, thanks to the turbo. It’ll do 0-100km/h in a commendable 6.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of 245km/h. The main selling points of the Q7 are its comfort and practicality. It is a very large vehicle with seven seats and plenty of room for cargo. There is a third row of seats in the back, which is functional, but cramped. It’s fine for children, but not so much for adults. Even with the third row seats up, the boot space is still large enough for a weekly shop or the school bags of six messy children. With the second and third seats folded flat, the cargo space is vast, making for a very useful and versatile vehicle. Bring it on, IKEA! However, this size does come at a price. Despite parking sensors AND cameras on both the front and rear of the vehicle, parking it anywhere tight is extremely tricky.

To summarise, the Q7 is a fantastic family carrier. It’s safe, luxurious, hugely spacious and versatile

Despite its size, though, the Q7 handles almost supernaturally, thanks to Audi’s class-leading Quattro technology. To give it a bit of a test, we threw it into a hairpin turn at 70km/h, and the Quattro system simply turned. No understeer, or oversteer, or even noticeable tyre screech. It just turned. Further ‘enthusiastic’ driving on tight corners produced similarly impressive results. It is absolutely phenomenal for a vehicle that weighs almost two-anda-half tonnes! Which brings us to the reason why we feel that the Q7 is such a great family car. It’s not the many different seating configurations, or the third row of seating, or rear climate control. It’s the safety. If you want to ferry your munchkins around in a towering behemoth of sublime comfort and invincibility, the Q7 is your best bet. Aside from the fact that the superb Quattro system will handle almost any emergency manoeuvring at normal driving speeds with ease, the all-round curtain airbags front and rear ensure that, should the unthinkable happen, you’re all cocooned in a cushioned bubble of safety. Now, unlike other large luxury SUVs, the Q7 makes no big claims with regards to its off-road capabilities. It is lacking in gadgetry like terrain select, hill descent control and diff lock settings. This is a Chelsea tractor through and through! It does, however, have an off-road suspension setting that will raise the vehicle’s ground clearance to 240mm, to help you avoid catching that big front spoiler on things. And, the Quattro all-wheel-drive system also serves to make the Q7 surprisingly competent off-road. On gravelly climbs and soft sand, the power goes to where it’s needed to keep the vehicle on the move, and it made light work of the medium-difficulty obstacles we threw at it. To summarise, the Q7 is a fantastic family carrier. It’s safe, luxurious, hugely spacious and versatile. If you’re looking for an SUV for serious off-roading, this isn’t what the Q7 was made for. It was made for trips to football practice, school runs, and the occasional family outing to a camping ground or beach. And in Bahrain, what else could you possibly need it for?

Alfa Romeo

MITO

Stylish and compact, the Mito follows the Golf, the MINI and the A Class in introducing some style to the hatchback segment, but for a lower price.

A key feature of the Mito is Alfa Romeo’s ‘DNA’ switch, that changes the car’s gearbox setup, accelerator response and steering response between Dynamic, Normal, and AllWeather settings. Our advice? Unless it’s raining, just leave it in Dynamic, it’s much more fun!

56. fact magazine

The best thing about the Mito is the exterior styling. It’s one thing that has always made Alfa Romeo stand out, and the Mito is no exception, with that classic Alfa grille, wide stance and low overhangs giving it a really sporty feel. The next best thing is the plucky little 1.4l turbocharged engine. It’s an engine that really punches above its weight, hauling the car along at impressive speeds, and offering up the power whenever you need it, even up above 120km/h. You find yourself switching to manual almost instinctively to extract as much as you can from it, and enjoying every minute. And the final thing we loved was the nimble handling from a great chassis. That wide stance and the McPherson front suspension and rear torsion beam make for a very agile drive and responsive steering, which is something that a respectable hot hatch must have, although it could do with a little more feedback from the steering wheel. The interior is a cosy place to be, with figurehugging sports seats and a low seating position emphasising the sporty characteristics of the car, which Alfa Romeo claim comes from the 4C. However, it is let down somewhat by a very bland centre console with old-school LCD displays, which is a bit of an issue with a car like the Alfa that is supposed to win people over with sexy Italian design!

ISLAND RIDES

A key feature of the Mito is Alfa Romeo’s ‘DNA’ switch, that changes the car’s gearbox setup, accelerator response and steering response between Dynamic, Normal, and All-Weather settings. Our advice? Unless it’s raining, just leave it in Dynamic, it’s much more fun! As we returned the car, we asked about the options and prices. The model we drove was the low-spec model, which goes for around seven grand. We hummed, and haa’d, and tutted, and asked about the high-spec model. That one, we heard, came with leather seats and steering wheel, digital climate controls, a stereo with USB, auxiliary connection and Bluetooth, chrome exterior detailing, rear parking sensors and a centre armrest. We asked to see it, and had a sit inside. Now THAT is the car we should have driven all along! THAT felt like an Alfa Romeo through and through. It goes for eight point eight, which still feels pricey, but then you’ve always paid a bit of a premium for that Alfa Romeo Italian style. Don’t even bother looking at the low-spec model, go straight for the bells and whistles, and it’s likely to win you over! Especially after you’ve had a good drive in it. If you’re in the market for a hot hatch that makes you stand out as an individual who appreciates form as well as function, you can consider the Alfa Romeo as a cheaper but viable alternative to other options on the market.

SUMMER CAR CARE

FACT’s Top 5 Car Tips

for the Summer! 1. Get your A/C serviced! In the hot months, you’ll use your A/C a lot more than the rest of the year, which drains the gas coolant more quickly. This means that it often runs out right when you don’t want it to, i.e. in busy traffic on the hottest day of the year. Trust us, it has happened to us, so make sure it’s all topped up!

Tip From a Specialist: Michael Goode, GM of Service at Ebrahim K. Kanoo

“For optimum cooling efficiency, it’s best to use the ‘recirculation mode’ on your A/C. Also, if your car has been parked out in the hot sun, open the windows completely to vent the hot air out before switching ON the AC.”

2. Get your tyres checked!

This advice is sound at any time of the year, but believe us; the last thing you want to be doing at 2pm on a hot day in mid-August is changing a wheel! And remember, hot weather increases tyre pressure, so if you’re adding air to your tyres be careful not to over inflate them.

4. Get your windows tinted!

A professional window tinting service will add a protective layer of tinting to the windows of your car which will work to reduce the amount of the sun’s energy getting into your car. Not only does this reduce the heat levels, but it also makes for more comfortable motoring by reducing the glare of the sun when you’re driving.

60. fact magazine

3. Buy a windscreen sun shield!

As the blazing sun shines through the windscreen of your car, the vehicle essentially acts like a greenhouse, absorbing heat but not letting it out. Everything inside your car, including the steering wheel, dashboard, gear lever and seatbelt buckles can become hot enough to burn your hands when you touch them! Even after you turn the AC on and begin driving, the heat from the dashboard will continue to radiate out into the car for a while, prolonging your discomfort. Most of the sun’s heat is absorbed into a car through the windscreen and rear window, as these are the ones most tilted towards the sky. A windscreen sun shield shades the dashboard and stops it getting so hot, but the most effective type is the metallic shiny one that you can hold in place against the screen with the sun visors, as this type of shield reflects a lot of the sun’s heat back out of the car.

5. Don’t leave your mobile/iPod in the car!

Leaving your iPhone or MP3 player in the car in the blazing summer sun even for a couple of hours can be catastrophic to the device. At the very least, you’ll get a warning message saying “Device too hot. Let it cool before switching on.” In this case, you’re lucky if none of the data has been damaged. At the very worst, you get into your car and pick up the device to find that awful telltale crack right down the screen. The heat has made the components expand until the innards have split, and your gadget is no more, so be careful!

An Extra Top Tip from Euromotors Check your oil!

“Oil is the lifeblood of your car. It keeps hardworking engine parts running clean, smooth and most importantly, cool. This is particularly important in the summer, since a hot engine needs all the lubrication it can get, and at high temperatures your engine’s oil is really getting put through its paces.”

And finally, the Altima leads the field in the mid-size sedan segment, enjoying 33.3% of the market share overall. VIVA’s

Digital Expansion VIVA has consistently strived to enhance user satisfaction. The testimonies of two bloggers is clear evidence of VIVA’s expanding digital reach to its customers.

Waleed Janah It’s the trend now that companies and service providers have started to invest less in call centre services and go more with self-service applications and portals. Viva, flowing with the rhythm of leading service providers worldwide, has introduced a self-service application that works perfectly on any android, iOS and Windows phone device, offering a bulk of useful services for Viva users. You start by downloading and launching the application. The application is well organised and neat. On top of the home screen is a scrollable window showing the latest Viva offers and a couple of services exclusive for Viva customers. Swiping right brings up a menu that enables you to change your profile, contact call centre or get information about Viva and so on. Among all the options I browsed, I really liked the summary option as it makes me able to check my call and data balance, current bill, and more account related information. Another cool feature is the ability to check your active services, with the advantage of being able to enable and disable them at any point and the ability to add add-ons to your package by yourself at any time. Pay your bills, check your payment history, locate the nearest retail shop and get direction from Google maps - you’re always a button away from getting support through the customer service.

Ali Al Sabbagh Smartphones really have changed the way we work, interact and play. There is literally an app for everything. I found the newly launched website to be perfectly optimised for every mobile device you can think of. So, last weekend, I avoided the usual hassle of queuing up at the cinema, and used Cinema.bh to book my tickets. And though I wasn’t happy about being charged a booking fee of 300 fils per ticket, I loved the experience! VIVA’s Cinema.bh allows you to search for your favourite cinema, find the film’s show times, and best of all, book the seats. Sign up for a free account at the website, and simply use any credit or debit card to pay for the tickets. VIVA’s Cinema.bh lists all the film titles currently featured in Bahrain Cinema with details like genre, director, cast and classification, and the IMDB ratings. You can also view the trailers on YouTube without having to leave the website. Cinema.bh’s presentation is really its chief selling point. With relevant information available at your fingertips, wonderfully designed and simple-to-navigate interface makes for a successful cinema ticketing website.

Chef Y ann Bernard Lejard One of the most premium fine dining restaurants on the island, Plums, at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa, is a cut above the rest. FACT had a tête-à-tête with their new Chef de Cuisine, Chef Yann Bernard Lejard, to understand the philosophy behind his food.

“This is part of my philosophy; I like to use simple ingredients, simple vegetables and try to get the best from it, and then try to give back the best that I can on the plate to the guests.”

rench Chef Yann is continuing Plum’s tradition of serving classy, exemplary food and intends to bring his own flair to the kitchen. Paris-born, Chef Yann grew up in the South of France and started his career as a cook at 16. “I started to work in Michelin star restaurants all over France and at the age of 19,” he says. From having worked in Michelin star restaurants to working for influential families, Chef Yann has been honing his culinary skills consistently across the world including France, Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, England, Morocco, Germany, Belgium, Russia and Saudi Arabia, before landing on the shores of Bahrain. So we were only too excited to meet this gastronomic expert and taste his creations. “I’ve been here for two month and I’m very proud and happy to be a member of the Ritz-Carlton family,” he says graciously. For starters, we had the veggie option of Cooked and Raw Bahraini vegetables, Black Olives powder, and French Goat Cheese Slice, adding a sensational touch to this simple yet delicious starter. The Seared Foie Gras, Papaya Textures, and Coriander Essence (soon to be introduced on the menu), went down like a treat, with sauces to compliment the dish. Next up was Yellow Zucchini Cannelloni, Eggplant Caviar, Spinach and Parsley Coulis, Grated Parmesan, served with parsley and spinach sauce, perfectly light

The star dish was Wagyu Beef Tenderloin, Teryaki sauce, White Pepper Foam and Potato Black Truffle, which was to die for. Wagyu Beef 9++ grade was medium, and so tender that it melted in your mouth. The decadent desserts of Balsamico marinated Strawberry slices, Pomegranate, Mint, Macaron Sand, Raspberry sorbet; and Warm Chocolate “Fondant” Cake, Orange Blossom, Vanilla and Mango Coulis, topped with Coffee ice cream and silver leaf, were heaven on a plate. “I really enjoy every part of the meal and for me it’s very important that there is a touch of myself in every plate,” says Chef Yann. “For Plums, we’ll continue the focus on meats on the grill because we get fantastic certified meats, and I’ll add a bit of contemporary modern twist. “We work a lot with the local community for the vegetables and believe in the highest quality products; most of the meat is imported from Europe, America and even Asia, like the sea scallops straight from Japan. When asked about his signature dish, he replies, “My signature dish will be the one that I’ll do tomorrow or tonight because there is no way to cook. “The day I find the perfect dish or my signature dish, I’ll be very happy. But I think I need to continue to work at that.” On this humble note, Chef Yann left us even more intrigued and longing for his next gastronomic creation! fact magazine

Blog Spot

Technology and Teens: Gift or a Curse? If you’re wondering what’s the word out there in Bahrain’s Blogosphere, FACT’s two favourite bloggers have their fingers on the pulse. Check out what they’re discussing this month…

one of the worst offenders I know are parents of teens whipping their smart phones out at the dinner table, taking calls while doing 100kms along the highway.

Ali Fareed Ali Fareed is a blogger (Ask Ali Fareed) with a passion for food, movies and local happenings around Bahrain. I take pride IN being an 80’s generation child. We didn’t have much, but we witnessed many of the great technological revolutions, from the emergence of computers to video games to the internet and mobile phones! Our life was simple. We got our first “shared” family PC when I reached grade four and I didn’t get my own mobile phone till my senior year in high school. The most interesting feature it had back then was wireless radio and custom ringtones! Nowadays, technology comes cheap and is easily available within reach. It’s easy to meet people from all across the globe and make new friends, thanks to the many social networks out there. Planning an outing with

Today’s lucky teens have been blessed with an abundance of technology at their fingertips, and with brains that are flexible enough to make the most of it. Technology puts the whole world in your teen’s pocket. A world made up of a multitude of friends, a melting pot of cultures, a rainbow of images, and a million and one opportunities for them to connect and create. They are no more addicted to technology than we are. Some of the worst offenders I know are parents of teens - whipping their smart phones out at the dinner table, taking calls while doing 100kms along the highway. Teens should be encouraged to keep doing what they do so well, and teach us while they’re at it. Having said that, working up a sweat with a good long walk every day is equally important, as is reading a classic novel. On a Kindle, of course ;-) 86. fact magazine

Not to mention with the many available productivity and art apps; talented youngsters have found their way to stardom! But as with everything, there’s the risk of not being able to balance things out, getting consumed by it all and falling into withdrawal from interacting with peers in real life or even socialising with friends and family.

My clients’ looks often say to me, “but you’re not like other people”, when I question why they have gained weight whist on holiday as I don’t. I can’t see why they have as I see this as a great time to have fabulous freshly made food and lots of fruit and vegetables, but all I get back are blank stares that say, “she’s crazy”. So what can you do to keep your fitness levels up while still enjoying your holiday? First, be realistic about how many times you’re going to workout remember you are on holiday, so even if you stop

it won’t take you too long to undo the damage when you get back. You don’t need lots of equipment to get a full body workout, so you can do some basic moves in your hotel room or villa to get a full body workout like squats, press-ups, lunges, dips, burpees and star jumps, or rent a bike or go walking. Make your workout fun by doing different things; if it’s a beach holiday try beach volley ball, go swimming or barefoot running on the beach, but don’t forget to time it right as temperatures can get really high and the beach or pool can get too crowed. But one of the most important things to remember is eat well. Take this opportunity to eat fabulous freshly made food, drink lots of water and most of all enjoy your holiday! PEP TALK

Are you being the person you’d be proud of? Christal Dennis

is a Personal Performance Coach and Hypnotherapist with a Masters in Psychology, Leadership Development and Coaching. She is dedicated to helping people overcome life’s hurdles and tapping into their deepest potential...

There was something I tended to do when I wondered whether I was being the person I’d be proud of, and I wondered whether it was not a tad morbid. That was until I noticed that Dr. John Demartini suggests you do the exact same thing, in his book “Don’t sweat the small stuff (and it’s all small stuff)”. He suggests that one focuses forward into the future to one’s own funeral. Yes, that’s

correct. It does sound kind of morbid, right? But doing this helps one gain some perspective. It makes you see that if you were to continue in the same way you are now, what kind of person you would turn out to be. It helps you realise what is really important in life. It’s easy to put off certain things now for the sake of doing what you think is really important, for example, earning more money or achieving certain accomplishments. We could forget that our children are little for only a short time. The chance for them to be loved and cared for as little ones is limited. The same goes for our spouses, parents and family. I’m not saying to give up on your goals. Instead, remember that there are many things in life that you will later realise are equally important. Carve out time for enjoying life with your loved ones and consider giving this as much weight as any other important thing you do. You’d be proud you did! Joz Salon & Spa

Sunless Tanning: Beat The Heat The key to getting the flawless spray tan you see in sunless tanning ads is using premium products and professional-grade equipment. To most people, every spray tan booth works the same way. After walking into the enclosed capsule and pressing the start button, your body is covered in a lightweight mist that later develops into a gorgeous glow. Since the entire system is automated, you don’t really need to think about the behind-the-scenes mechanics that make it all happen. But in reality, how a tanning booth is designed has a huge impact on the quality and lifespan of your results. And with the right system, every spray tan can be pure perfection. In addition to being a leading company in the development of professional selftanning products and accessories, St. Tropez has one of the best tanning booth designs available at Joz Salon & Spa. Used by luxury salons throughout the world, the St. Tropez spray tan booth is designed with cutting-edge technology that works equally well for every skin type and tone. The filtered extraction units work overtime to keep the air clean and remove excess spray residue, while the automated airbrush system evenly covers the entire body with a high-end tanning solution. The machine’s adjustable temperature settings make it easy to instantly adapt to special requests and seasonal changes. One of the biggest advantages of using a St. Tropez tanning booth is that it turns a simple spray tan into a spa-like experience. Unlike lower quality formulas that can be sticky and cold, St. Tropez’s tanning solution feels light and airy. The system’s custom controls make it possible to change the temperature of the mist as needed, so you never have to worry about being cold or uncomfortable. Because St. Tropez’s spray tans are designed to dry quickly, you can be on your way in just a few minutes after the application without worrying about ruining your tan or staining your clothes. Whether you need a great machine for your tanning salon or just love sunless tanning, St. Tropez’s spray tan booth is a foolproof choice for anyone looking for a sophisticated self-tanning system. Keep in mind that any salon spray tan works best when applied to clean skin and paired with the right accessories. While St. Tropez’s tanning booth is one of the best designs in the sunless tanning industry, it should only be used on polished skin to avoid uneven coverage. Tan-enhancing moisturisers should be added as follow-up products to extend the lifespan of the colour in between salon sessions. If you tan with spray tans on a regular basis, exfoliate your skin before every session. Use hydrating moisturisers daily to keep your skin silky smooth and to hold on to your tan longer. Faisal Hassan Jawad Retailer, Chairman of Jawad Business Group. He has lived in Bahrain all his life.

island insider Tell us three things you enjoy the most about living in Bahrain?

What is your recipe for success and who has been your biggest inspiration?

What would be your advice to young entrepreneurs in Bahrain?

Bahrain natives are the friendliest in the world and make living on this beautiful island a pleasure. Bahrain has a history of over 5,000 years and this is very special. I am proud to be from Bahrain and living its history. Bahrain being very small, allowed me to visit almost every beautiful village/corner.

There is no recipe for success. With goodwill, honesty, dedication to do a good job, and the love of achieving high standard of service to customers may constitute a good recipe. My biggest inspiration was my father. He never let failure stop him from succeeding in business. He introduced many new ideas to Bahrain. His humble approach and lovely smile made him friends everywhere he went.

Bahrain is an island of pure magic. The sky is the limit for me, and anyone who wants to make use of the abundance of opportunities on this beautiful land. Be honest, humble and go for new ideas.
