The first half of 2020 has definitely thrown some curveballs our way, and we for one have been impressed with how the yachting world and luxury marine life sector have dealt with the uncertain times. So, we’re incredibly happy to see the world slowly opening up and many of the best names in the industry putting safety measures in place to get their vessels onto the oceans pronto.

A convoy of brand-new water babies have been delivered by their shipbuilders; the Ferretti Yachts 720 is a world of home comforts, raises the bar on the navigation experience thanks to incredible spaces, plentiful stowage areas and amazing technical specs.

We also introduce you to the National Geographic Endurance, an arctic-ready vessel from Ulstein Verft, marking the official completion of the line’s first polar new build. In a true celebration of vision and confidence, Royal Huisman announced a new commission for an impressive lightweight 46m high-performance cruiser sloop: Nauta Reichel Pugh 151.

TThis versatile sailing yacht is to be built for very experienced owners who presented a stimulating brief: comfort to explore the world, in an extremely lightweight structure to ensure victories in superyacht regattas. And the owners did not just want to take delivery of such an intriguing yacht; they wanted to be part of the whole process of designing and building it, and enjoy every step of the way. In addition to her imposing length, Moonrise has a very impressive volume thanks to a 15.50-metre beam. This has generated some fabulous interior space for sixteen people in eight staterooms. JOURNEY INTO THE FUTURE

Splendid and dazzling as its name implies, Riva 88’ Folgore (“Lightning”) immediately won the hearts and minds of those who saw it cut through the waves.

he most eagerly awaited vessel by Riva enthusiasts was launched in La Spezia, where the production facility dedicated to the 76-to-110-foot models is based. It is the first launch of a new Riva model at the time of Covid-19 and celebrates the non- stop activity of all shipyards, confirming Ferretti Group in its role as a tenacious and solid builder of dreams and emotions.

“Riva 88’ Folgore looks like a vessel just back from a journey into the future: she is a dazzling flash of style, she is strength, she is performance, she is innovation,” said Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group. “The launch of the first new model in 2020 represents a new Renaissance for the Ferretti Group, which restarts from Riva, brand becoming more and more a contemporary myth, the essence of Made in Italy and a tangible sign of a Country that starts again.”

Riva 88’ Folgore, the project of which was presented in January, perfectly complied with the deadline set for the construction time. The new exterior design philosophy displays lines and elements inspired by the automotive world, combining luxury and sportiness.

In a happy balance between past and present, it combines the use of innovative materials like carbon with traditional stylistic elements such as mahogany inlays and steel decorations.

Like all the Riva masterpieces of recent history, the 88’ Folgore is the result of the collaboration between Officina Italiana Design, the studio founded by Mauro Micheli along with Sergio Beretta, the Product Strategy Committee headed by engineer Piero Ferrari, and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.

THE SX112 CROSSOVER YACHT

Three new Sanlorenzo models make their seagoing debut this summer bringing new concepts of livability on board: the SX112 crossover yacht and the 44Alloy and 62Steel superyachts.

With 34 meters of lenght, SX112 is the flagship of the SX crossover line that proposes a new way of living on the sea: the barriers on board are eliminated, and the boat opens to the outside, in a close relationship with the marine context.

The project design has again been assigned to the creativity of Bernardo Zuccon of Studio Zuccon International Project, for the external lines, and Piero Lissoni, art director of the company since 2018, for the interiors.

The focal point of the project is the new stern zone which undoubtedly represents the yacht’s most iconic area. Conceived as a spacious internal beach area, it is directly connected to the outside, allowing the yachtsman to enjoy these spaces in a novel way..

Feadship fans have been treated to an early glimpse of a superb new Feadship that is due to be officially launched very soon.

The name of the 72.85-metre Project 705 will only be revealed at that ceremony but we can already see that the Feadship fleet is going to gain another outstanding example of pure custom design, craftsmanship and engineering.

Project 705 was commissioned by a repeat client who has built with Feadship before and was delighted with both the experience of creating a Feadship as well as the many years of enjoyment that have followed.

As she slowly appeared from the construction hall at the yard in Aalsmeer, onlooker eyes were instantly drawn to the beautiful combination of a dark blue hull, white superstructure and a continuous band of glass which is flush to the exterior. Striking glass railings with a teak cap rail offered another visual treat, along with a wealth of stainless steel and high gloss eucalyptus details. Watching proudly as Project 705 emerged into the light, project manager Gerhard Dekker praised the spirit of cooperation between the owner’s team, the designers from RWD, Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects and the yard in Aalsmeer. “It may be a cliché but I truly believe that it takes a team to build a dream, and the way in which everyone has played their part in creating this exceptional vessel is a textbook example of teamwork,” he said.

THE BLACK SHARK

Progress on Nobiskrug’s highly-anticipated 77-metre Project Black Shark has taken an exciting step, with the arrival of the custom new build’s hull at the shipyard’s Rendsburg facility.

The towing of a hull from Kiel to Rendsburg always marks a significant milestone in a new build project, and for Black Shark, whose construction has been meticulously charted by a few key media, the landmark event did not disappoint.

It took the power of two tugs to haul the hull from the Kiel facility on the shores of the Baltic Sea, setting off at 10am in the direction of Rendsburg. Black Shark’s hull passed through locks before entering the Kiel Canal where it spent three hours travelling at the maximum speed of 8 knots. It completed the landmark journey on the River Eider, arriving at the state-of-the-art facility in Rendsburg at 1:30pm.

It is here where the highly-anticipated hull will be painted matte black to mimic the texture of the skin of a black shark (Carcharhinus obscurus). In contrast, the superstructure will wear a sporty, metallic silver colour to complement the mast, which is cleverly designed to resemble a shark fin. The dark exterior colour will wrap three decks which have been specifically designed by British studio Winch Design to emphasise the yacht’s voluminous 2,080GT.

ADMIRAL YACHT: GECO’S LAUNCH

Geco, the new 55-metre megayacht charter of the Admiral fleet, the flagship brand of The Italian Sea Group, was launched to the world.

Geco, an expression of Italian creativity recognised all over the world, with an extremely captivating and innovative design, is completely developed internally in collaboration with the Group’s Art Director, the Architect Gian Marco Campanino.

With her 55 meters, Geco is an authentic Made-inItaly masterpiece of shapes, lines and innovative solutions: from the striking style of the bow to the revolutionary stern design which hosts, for the first time on this type of yacht, a “beach club” area which features high glass side walls designed to offer protection on windy days and a large sunbathing platform served by an ultra-modern staircase to facilitate access to the sea.

The exterior design is fluid, bright and sinuous: the lines dynamically flow between the tops and emphasise the rigorously hand-made details. The chromatic scheme, refined and sophisticated, follows the curves of the hull and the superstructure highlighting the elegance of the exterior, decisive and rigorous.

The external areas of Geco, in perfect harmony with the design of the new megayacht, are characterised by the presence of important sculptural elements such as the bar counter, the sunbathing areas and the stainless-steel stairs that connect the different decks.

The refined and striking interiors reveal a “super glamorous” atmosphere that sees a timeless French allure mixed with more contemporary Italian design. French wooden boiserie, precious Italian marbles, bronzed metal details and leather walls create a decidedly sophisticated environment with an international flavour. The materials, from wengé wood, natural oak and golden Calacatta marble, give a unique feeling of elegance, in perfect balance between exclusive luxury and craftsmanship.

Ferretti Yachts 720 raises the bar on the navigation experience thanks to incredible spaces, plentiful stowage areas and outof-the-ordinary ceiling heights.

Created in tandem by Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee and Engineering Department, the 720 is the second project with exterior design by architect Filippo Salvetti in collaboration with Ferretti Group, while the interior design was handled by the Group’s inhouse architects and designers.

Coinciding with the other yachts in the range, Ferretti Yachts 720 comes with the same highly popular aerodynamic design revolving around taut, finely poised forms that help to make the deckhouse lines extremely clean.

With a length of 73.4 feet (22.3 m) and a beam of 18.6 feet (5.7 m), the 720 offers a number of functional and styling solutions that are highly innovative for a vessel of its size, underscoring the constant evolution of the brand, which at the same time preserves its distinctive character that is recognisable on all the shipyard’s models.

In keeping with the innovation process implemented on the recent models, the external forward area stands out for its ample, interchangeable living spaces that make it possible to have an area that can be transformed from a large sun pad into a comfortable dining space with central table. To the sides of the sun pads, the cup-holders and storage compartments are framed by four retractable courtesy lights, and carbon poles support a bimini top that can cover the entire area. The spacious 31m flybridge, made of carbon fibre and composite material, is fitted with a second helm station in the forward-starboard area, framed by a massive sea-facing sun pad. Amidships, a central dinette is served by the bar area with kitchenette, refrigerator, sink and storage spaces, located aft, where various freestanding furniture options may also be selected. Upon request, it is possible to install a davit for a Williams tender up to 3.25 m or a jet ski. In its standard version, the yacht comes with a central roll-bar and retractable bimini top, while the optional hard top configuration is available in 3 different versions: fixed window, built-in bimini, or adjustable louvres.

The living area is a highlight with two large facing sofas with ample storage is separated from the raised dining area, which offers a remarkable amount of comfort for a yacht of this size; the open space layout affords enough room for a transverse table for eight – ample and lightweight, that leaves plenty of space for movement, conveying the idea of home-like comfort –alongside a large sideboard that is not only functional but is also an important architectural element. Forward, behind the dining area, is the galley, conceived as an open, minimalist space, which features a cooking top facing a hidden sink. An electric door leading to the port-side walkway facilitates better flow management and enables service to be provided more smoothly. Starboard, on the opposite side to the galley, is the helm station, arranged on two levels with four displays with a maximum size of 16” and an electric window positioned next to the pilot seat. The shipyard offers owners a choice between two interior design styles that have different furnishing solutions and colour choices. Maintaining the walnut, a first version will have elements characterised in light, neutral lacquered shades.

The second, on the other hand, is characterised by dark colours. One of the distinctive elements is the large lounge sideboard, which in the light version is available in walnut with oblique stripes, while the dark version is in glossy ebony.

The owner’s suite, with its generous spaces that reveal a unique private environment, replicates the material and colour play of the main deck, with a minimalist but detailed design that dialogues continuously with the walk-in closet and the large en-suite bathroom, with smoked glass inserts. The bathroom design is functional in its forms and in line with the current trends.

In general, the style of this new model is based on a successful mixture of different patterns, like the ribbed pattern of the walls, the stripes of the ceiling, the chequering of the headboards, and the oblique stripe motif of the lounge sideboard, that dialogue in deep, natural harmony.

The first unit of Ferretti Yachts 720 is equipped with twin MAN V12 engines capable of producing 1400 mhp and reaches a top speed of 32 with a cruising speed of 28 knots (preliminary data). In its standard configuration, the yacht installs twin MAN V8s for 1200 mhp. As always, a stabilisation package is available on request, featuring two Seakeepers to ensure the utmost stability at sea or when docked.

POLAR ENDURANCE

Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc. has taken delivery of National Geographic Endurance from Ulstein Verft, marking the official completion of the line’s first polar new build. The state-of-the-art 126-guest ship has been designed by Ulstein Design Solutions AS as the ultimate expedition platform with a focus on safety and comfort.

THE X-BOW

A core feature is ULSTEIN’s X-BOW solution, a distinctive bow that provides fuel efficiency and gives a smoother ride with softer motions in head seas. The X-BOW design feature has been proven on more than 100 offshore vessels, operating in rough conditions. With the PC5 ice class, the vessel can access deep into polar regions. The ship’s expanded fuel and water tanks provide for extended operations in remote areas; while the zero-speed stabilisers contribute to increased comfort at zero speed when stopped for wildlife observation or embarking/disembarking the ship.

BIG BRIDGE

The huge, open bridge has enough room for all the passengers. This is a very welcoming place for the guests who can come there to watch the navigation and see where the vessel is going. From here, they can go right out on deck and take photographs. The bow area of a cruise vessel is often a gathering place in the early morning. This is where you can stand to look at whales, penguins and dolphins.

The ‘Endurance’ has a very different kind of bow. Being on a ship with a traditional bow you will have to lean over the side of the ship and look backwards down towards the waterline. On this vessel, due to the X-BOW, you’ll be able to look straight down into the water. And this is quite a magnificent way of viewing

wildlife in the sea. The ship also has plenty of places in the forward part where the passengers can look right down to the waterline in front and observe the ship plough through the water. This means, if there are dolphins there you will see them riding the bow wave of the ship.

THE ON-BOARD ARCTIC INFINITY EXPERIENCE

The ship has been designed to connect the passengers to the outside environment from anywhere on the ship. The cabin measurements range from 13 sqm solo cabins to the 40 sqm suites. 77 per cent of the cabins feature balconies with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors to let in the spectacular surroundings and Arctic

light. Glass is also an important part of the design around the public areas.

The main restaurant, Restaurant 270º, is named for its panoramic views, with floor-to ceiling windows. There is also an outdoor barbeque and bistro area. The spa and fitness area include a yoga room, treatment rooms, saunas, a fitness room, a relaxation area, as well as the infinity hot tubs and the spectacular glass igloos with seating on daybeds covered in reindeer fur. The yoga studio offers great views out the aft side of the vessel. There are multiple observation decks and also observation wings for the passengers to get views from an angle outside the ship’s side. All are solutions to give the passengers everlasting memories not to be experienced on any other ship.

OFF-BOARD ADVENTURING

Getting off the vessel, there are various options to explore, even underwater. The ship carries its own submarine, a Remotely Operated Vehicle, capable of reaching 305 metres below water. There are 14 expedition crafts for landing in otherwise inaccessible places, a high number of crafts to reduce waiting time. For other adventures, the vessel holds a variety of gear and equipment, including kayaks, paddling boards, snorkelling gear and wetsuits, crosscountry skis to name a few.

On the flanks there is now a three-louvre air vent as well as ducts behind the louvres that lead to both the engine compartment and the front wheel arch. These reduce internal pressure which not only cuts drag but also boosts downforce. At the backend, a slotted diffuser and rear spoiler integrated with the hatch, focus on reducing drag, adding to the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. The meticulous attention to interior design and detail by the master craftsmen at Ferrari has created a cabin that is a flawless triumph of sporty luxury. All of the materials, trimmings and finishes are of a premium quality whilst the sports seats are both supportive and comfortable. The layout for all controls was developed with accessibility and functionality in mind, with many conveniently located on the superbly designed steering wheel. The GTC4Lusso T features unique Dual Cockpit architecture, designed to enhance the shared driving experience for both driver and passenger. It also incorporates the latest interaction of the infotainment system complete with an impressive 10.25” HD capacitive touchscreen. There is plenty of knee and head room on offer in the rear seats, whilst the decently sized boot offers a respectable compartment for luggage, increasing greatly in capacity when the rear seats are folded down. interior of the GTC4Lusso T are, it was the performance capabilities of the vehicle that provided most of the excitement. The sound of the 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine is music to the ears and turned every head we drove past on the tarmac. With a power output of 610 cv at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 760 Nm between 3000 and 5250 rpm, this car has enough power on offer for several vehicles. Boasting a top speed of 335km/h and the capability of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and from 0-200 km/h in 10.8 seconds, this capable car is amongst the quickest on the market. The GTC4Lusso T’s power is kept in check by the vehicle’s smooth handling, ample traction and impressive braking system. In truth, this car has far too many features and improvements in performance, control, safety and design to mention in one article and one would need to own one of these vehicles for a length of time in order to fully appreciate what it has to offer. What we have not yet mentioned about this luxury sportscar is that it was, in fact, pre-owned. Ferrari Bahrain have made this elite brand more accessible and affordable through their Ferrari pre-owned certification programme. is a stylish tray that is opened by pushing a latch. Inside are two adjustable cup holders and a wireless charging system. It is clear that every internal feature in the GLE has been carefully and beautifully designed to ensure a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment.

The infotainment system is hailed by many experts as the best in the car industry. Mercedes have provided all options when it comes to controllability. The entire system can be controlled via a pad on the central console, via touchscreen, via buttons on the steering wheel and via voice control. The gage cluster is also regarded by many as a cut above the rest. It is exceptionally configurable, allowing you to individually position your desired content items. Both display screens are 12.3-inches and sit under a stylish glass cover.

Once out on the road, the GLE 450 4Matic continues to impress. This beauty of a machine houses a 3.0-litre, turbo-charged, 6-cylinder engine with integrated starter alternator that produces 367 hp and 369 ft-lb of torque. This ensures this Mercedes model has decent acceleration as well as a respectable top speed of around 253km/h. The suspension of this 4x4 absorbs the bumps well ensuring a smooth ride. The cabin is quiet and the visibility is really good, assisted by large mirrors. The breaking, handling and grip of the vehicle are all effective and one always feels in complete control, even at higher speeds and around sharp corners. A notable feature is the Parking Space Search Feature. At the push of a button, the vehicle will not only locate an available parking space, but parallel park the vehicle for you.

Plenty of safety features have been included as standard on the GLE, but additional packages such as the Driving Assistance Package and the Parking Package with 360-degree camera are also available. The menu, which has been expertly designed by Rowe, begins with an eclectic selection of starters, mains, and truly indulgent desserts. CHINGON

Chingon - located at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Business Bay, is integrated with sleek and trendy interiors, alongside splashes of vibrant colours that reflect a fusion of the old and the new. Chingon is a present-day interpretation and celebration of Mexico’s culture and heritage with its plush furnishings, fresh food, lively ambience and exotic entertainment. Running from 1pm to 5pm every Saturday, Chingo’s party brunch, ‘El Camino de Flores’, meaning; ‘the path of flowers’, is a fabulous way to check this place out. The afternoon features contemporary Mexican offerings and signature sips, live entertainment with dancers, drummers and musicians, and resident and international DJs to get you into the Mayan spirit. The brunch menu reinterprets traditional Mexican favourites with a current day twist adapted by Chingon’s culinary team. Try the Duck Quesadillas, King Crab Nachos topped with smoky melting cheddar, slow-cooked Wagyu Short Rib, the now famous Chimichurri Burrata and many more decadent offerings – a truly divine slice of Mexican haven.

HUTONG DUBAI

Hutong brings a fresh take on Chinese cuisine with its occasionally fiery Northern Chinese dishes, dim sum and cocktails. The new restaurant features a bespoke interior design inspired by the heritage of the Silk Road where Arabic and Chinese influences merge.

Hutong’s Dubai menu incorporates signature dishes from London and New York as well as new dishes created exclusively for the Dubai restaurant. The signature Red Lantern is served to the table in a traditional Chinese wood basket overflowing with red Sichuan dried chilies. Crispy pieces of soft-shell crab nestle between them, infused with spices and lip-numbing chili essence. Hutong’s Roasted Peking Duck with Pancakes is delicately carved at the table. The whole duck is carefully prepared for 24 hours using a traditional recipe said to have been developed over one hundred years ago for the Emperor, making the duck skin crispy on the outside while the meat remains tender and flavourful.

A centerpiece of the Hutong experience is the bar. Hutong’s intriguing cocktail list complements its cuisine by incorporating Chinese spices and herbs. One of the unique focal points is the iconic and traditional Wishing Tree positioned in the centre of the restaurant, a striking element that is featured in both Hutong restaurants in London and Hong Kong too.

CÉ LA VI

Luxury lifestyle dining and entertainment venue, CÉ LA VI has opened its sixth global venue in the heart of Downtown Dubai. Atop the new Address Sky View Hotel, the venue boasts spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa, World Islands, and is set to become a hub for the region’s tastemakers.
