Christmas is a season to receive, and give, forgiveness. When Zechariah erupted in praise from months of muted silence, his prophetic song included, “And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins.” (Luke 1:76-77) Jesus was the longawaited Messiah through whom we can have forgiveness of sins and be reconciled to God. (Eph. 1:7) Christmas is a perfect season to receive and celebrate the forgiveness of God through Jesus Christ. Once you have experienced this forgiveness, then Christmas is a perfect season to rejoice! As we celebrate the gift of Jesus and His atoning work on our behalf, we should willing and joyfully extend forgiveness to others.

many Christians, a seed of doubt “ For remains that all their personal sins are really
forgiven, that God is genuinely not holding anything against them. Until we are sure, until we settle the issue of forgiveness once and for all, two things will always be true. First, we will never have much confidence when we petition our heavenly Father. We will always feel that God is holding something against us. Second, we will put others on the same scale we put ourselves on. Since we are always trying to do something to ensure our forgiveness, we will subconsciously pressure others to perform to gain our forgiveness. We will have a tendency to remind others of their failures and their need to make up for them in some way.

Our Faith Radio team always enjoys opportunities to share in our community. Bob Crittenden was honored to speak at the men’s breakfast at Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Wetumpka. Here Bob shares a photo moment with Pastor John Carney.
Our Alabama/Auburn football schedules, which include an explanation of the Gospel on the inside, provide a tremendous opportunity to share Jesus with others. Montgomery’s Carl Norton shares hundreds of these schedules with people he encounters throughout his day, including the grocery store! We are so thankful to be part of the State Combined Campaign, and our own Kim Sauce enjoyed sharing about Faith Radio at the kickoff event in downtown Montgomery.

Prayer is a priority in our ministry, and we regularly participate in community events involving prayer. Faith Radio’s Billy Irvin helped lead a prayer walk in Montgomery that included a time to pray for those in authority over us. One of the many ways you can share with others about the ministry of Faith Radio is to have a magnet on your car. We even have a Christmas version of our magnet! Contact us to receive your magnet and help us share about the ministry!
The annual Sav-A-Life Banquet of Covington County is among our favorites to celebrate what God is doing in our community and to see so many of our faithful listeners. This year we were blessed to hear about the successful surgeries performed on a baby in the womb from Dr. William Lile, also known as the “ProLife Doc.”

DOES YOUR GIVING REFLECT YOUR FAITH?
By Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations
God has blessed each of us with earthly resources, and He calls us to be good stewards of all that he has entrusted to us. While most of us give to numerous charities and causes, as believers, we should prioritize giving that reflects our faith. There is no greater gift we can give than sharing Jesus Christ. Because of friends like you, and your faithful support of our ministry, Faith Radio can share Jesus by boldly proclaiming His Good News online and across the airwaves each day. There are many ways you can help spread the Good News through the ministry work of Faith Radio:
q Cash/Check q Bonds q Vehicles q RMD from IRA
q Stocks q Life Insurance Policies q Real Estate q Donor Directed Account
Many of us are faithful givers in life but don’t think to leave a legacy through an estate gift. Through estate and asset-based giving, you can save on taxes, further Kingdom work, and plan better for the needs of your family. If you pass away without a will, you have chosen the government as your favorite charity. There is a much better way to be a good steward of what God has entrusted to you! Contact us if we can help you with any of these transactions to support God’s work through the ministry of Faith Radio.
We hope you enjoy our 2023 Faith Radio Advent Guide! Detach it and post it in a prominent place or use it in your devotional or family Advent times.

2023 FAITH RADIO ADVENT GUIDE
BECAUSE OF
Jesus…
By Bob Crittenden, Director of Special Projects
“if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Because of Jesus, we can be made right with God. Every person is born separated from God by our sin. When we have been drawn to repentance and come before Him and confess our sins, we receive the beautiful gift of forgiveness. We experience the promise of 1 John 1:9, “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” This exchange of our sin for Christ’s righteousness is only possible because Jesus paid our sin debt with His life on the cross. As recipients of God’s forgiveness, we can, and are commanded to, forgive others. The love and forgiveness of God we have experienced compels us to live lives extending love and forgiveness to others. Tony Evans says: “God says to forgive one another because He paid the greatest bill—the bill of our sin debt—with His own Son. If we can be the recipients of such great forgiveness, we need to learn how to offer forgiveness to others. When we do, we discover that we are the ones who have been set free.” FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
During this Advent season, Faith Radio highlights some of the aspects of the new life we have in Jesus Christ, including His forgiveness. A brief reading can be used each day in December or can be incorporated into weekly Advent readings. (First Day of Advent: December 3).
Day 1
I AM FORGIVEN. Colossians 1:13-14
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Day 2
I CAN FORGIVE OTHERS. Colossians 3:12-13 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 7
3
I AM LOVED BY GOD. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
4
I AM UNITED WITH CHRIST. Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
5
I HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
6
I HAVE ABUNDANT LIFE. John 10:9-10 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
7
I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE WORD OF GOD. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
8
I HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT LIVING IN ME. John 14:26-27 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
8
9
I HAVE RECEIVED THE GRACE OF GOD. Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
10
I AM A NEW CREATION. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
11
I BELONG TO JESUS. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
12
I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
13
I AM PART OF GOD’S FAMILY. Romans 8:15-17 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
14
I AM A MEMBER OF HIS CHURCH, THE BODY OF CHRIST. Colossians 1:18-20 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
15
I HAVE ACCESS TO THE THRONE OF GOD IN PRAYER. Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
16
I HAVE THE PROMISE OF HEAVEN. John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
17
I AM AN OVERCOMER. 1 John 5:4-5 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
18
I CAN WALK IN GODLY WISDOM. 1 Corinthians 1:30-31 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption--that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”
19
I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE ARMOR OF GOD. Ephesians 6:10-11 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
20
I HAVE HOPE IN THE LORD. Luke 1:46-49 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.
21
I CAN BE STRONG IN HIM. Romans 8:10-11 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
22
I CAN KNOW HIS PEACE. Isaiah 9:6-7a For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end…
9
23
25
I CAN HAVE CONFIDENCE IN JESUS. 1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
I KNOW HE WALKS WITH ME. Colossians 2:6-7 As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
I AM BORN AGAIN. 1 Peter 1:22-23 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever…

Alistair Begg offers two questions regarding giving and receiving God’s forgiveness: Have you confessed the enormity of your debt to God and cried out for His mercy? Have you confessed that Jesus is Lord and believed that God raised Him from the dead for your salvation (Rom. 10:9)? You don’t need to say some eloquent prayer. You don’t need to donate any money or sign up for any mailing list. You only need to trust Him and in your heart say something like this: “God I have sinned against You, but I know that Jesus has died and risen again so that You can forgive me. I accept Your forgiveness, and I want to live in the light of that forgiveness.” Faith Radio ForGiven 2023 Cover.indd 3

Faith Radio invites you to pray a simple prayer to repent of your sin and trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and begin to walk in God’s forgiveness. You can learn more by calling 800.NEEDHIM or by going to our website at FaithRadio.org and clicking on the “Find Peace” graphic. Alistair Begg also poses this question, directed toward those who have asked to be forgiven: Are you taking seriously the necessity of forgiving others? Our love for God and others is proven in our willingness to forgive. If you are withholding forgiveness from someone in your life, consider what Jesus has done for you, and consider whether you have really believed it. Offering forgiveness is not easy, and it is not quick or simple. But it is necessary, and it is possible. Dwell deeply on the mercy God has shown you, and let go of whatever grievances remain in you. Forgiveness like this, given freely and abundantly in the power of God’s Spirit, is the way of obedience, the path to joy, and the narrow road of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ADVENT THEMES APPARENT IN CPE CONVERSATIONS
Meeting House guests highlight forgiveness, new birth by Bob Crittenden, host of The Meeting House This year’s Advent Guide is intended to help Christians think about what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. At the Summer 2023 Christian Product Expo (CPE) in Lexington, KY, there were numerous conversations that displayed spiritual depth and sound Biblical perspectives. Some of the themes were consistent with those included in this year’s Advent Guide. The Day 1 theme, I AM FORGIVEN, was exemplified by Debbie Dufek, author of Holy Interruptions. She described how God intervened in her life and how she learned to respond to God’s work in her life. The Day 1 theme of forgiveness, as well as the Day 3 theme, I AM LOVED BY GOD, were explored by Mel Tavares, as we spoke about his book 21 Days to Improved Mental Wellbeing. He offered encouragement for those struggling with acceptance and breaking free from the past. Key to persevering in that struggle is recognizing God’s willingness to forgive us and to give us the capacity to forgive ourselves. Neuropsychologist Michelle Bengtson, author of The Hem of His Garment, highlighted the importance of appropriating a Biblical response to our FAITH RADIO’S MINISTRY MAGAZINE
pain, which echoes the Day 21 theme, I CAN KNOW HIS PEACE. This year’s CPE Summer Show included conversations about several Christmas books. In Make Your Heart a Manger, the mother-daugher writing duo of Karen Porter and Cherry McGregor addressed the condition of the heart. I was also joined by Donna Wyland, who has written a book for children ‘Twas the Night Before Jesus, which is a fresh take on a familiar Christmas poem. In the Faith Radio Media Center, the Faith Radio app, and a variety of podcast platforms, you can access conversations from the CPE show in Lexington from these authors and others, like Del Duduit, Eva Marie Everson, Jill Rigby Garner, Lee Ann Mancini, and one of the keynote speakers for the event, Lee Strobel.

GOD’S

WORD
by Billy Irvin, Director of Ministry Relations
A dear Faith Radio listener in the River Region, Jay Tidwell, is a well-known real estate broker. Earlier this year while renovating a building, Jay found an old, dusty radio down in the basement. He was surprised to find that this antique radio still worked! Jay brought the radio up to the main floor, maneuvered the antenna, and obtained a clear signal of 89.1FM. For several months, Jay had workers in and out of his building laying new floors, painting, installing new fixtures, and so on. Jay shared, “This old radio may not be perfect, but it always has God’s perfect word playing.” The Lord uses this ministry to build up believers and share God’s truth. “This radio plays Faith Radio’s broadcast every day, and it encourages me while also allowing me to have encouraging conversations with others that come inside these walls,” Jay shared. “In my car, my radio is tuned to Faith Radio, and I have formed the habit of programming this station in any car, truck or U-haul I might rent! Like the lines on the roadways, the messages heard on Faith Radio keep us out of the ditches.” Let us all strive to be more like Jay and dust off the old radio to share God’s truth with others we encounter. Even an imperfect radio can spread God’s perfect word! 12

Christmas Crosses Tell the Story of Jesus Faith Radio is known for lifting high the name of Jesus all day every day, and for over a decade we have distributed Christmas Crosses to help tell the story of Jesus. Many of our listeners spread the real message of Christmas using one of our seven foot wooden crosses as part of their Christmas decorations! Some even display them year-round! Crosses will be available on Monday, November 13, at our studio in Montgomery. Stay tuned for information on other distribution locations. The crosses are available for a generous donation (minimum $50 suggested). While made of untreated wood, with a little paint or stain, your cross will last for years of use. You can even add a strand of lights to let the light of Christ shine brightly from your home! Reserve your cross today by visiting our website at faithradio.org.
YOUR COMMENTS ENCOURAGE OTHERS! Our hearts are greatly encouraged when you share with us how this ministry has touched your life. A note or email is wonderful, but taking the time to call our comment line encourages all of our listeners! Would you take a moment to call 334-271-8988 (a recorded line) and share a quick comment of less than 60 seconds of how God has used this ministry to touch your life? Thank you for considering this blessing to us as we hear from you!
