s a designer, STEFANO RICCI has brought continuous innovation to men’s fashion. He is a strong advocate of the wholly ‘Made-in-Italy’ production, and an uncompromising entrepreneur. The unique pieces, completely hand-designed, are conceived for an international clientele that is not led by price but by the search for excellence itself. In the Fall/Winter Collection for 2016-17, the Florentine Maison’s key values germinate in Stefano Ricci’s vision: fabrics, finishes, colours and a conception of tradition which turn to perfect proportions, flawless cuts and contemporary desires for inspiration. For the coming winter season, STEFANO RICCI clearly distances itself from men’s clothing clichés. Instead, as a true pioneer of good taste, it spotlights the essential combination of elegance and function, leisure and an impeccable professional look. The result sees Japanese or Italian fabrics which combine flawless construction with comfort that needs to be experienced to be believed; exclusive blends of silk and cashmere which guarantee a natural, refined flexibility for every garment. Crocodile skin so soft it becomes a graphic sign, a perceptible icon of craftsmanship placed at the disposal of style. The colour

combinations guide the STEFANO RICCI man towards a statement of the self which features secure yet sophisticated taste: exquisite, impalpable and graphically evolved turtleneck sweater for wearing under a jacket which recall the pocket squares in a dialogue of mauve and blue, made trenchant by anthracite trousers (clean, graphic and cut with precision). The fertile dynamic between Ricci blue and purple, in interpretations that recall the regal splendour of Monaco, is underscored by check shirts which incorporate a discreet red to place the accent on the trim of jacket and trousers. The colour combinations are never predictable. Sophisticated shades such as Blueberry and Brandy, as well as shades of burnt hues and greys, meet and highlight one another thanks to secret detailing. This detail finds references that emerge from the fabric or accessory, or recurring forms (the stylised Octagonal icon, the Eagle’s head) which appear and disappear in a way that is more a nod to the well-informed choice than an out-and-out declaration. The graphic strength of black is essential, and has been chosen for the more classic, distinctive garments: fine fabrics in cashmere and silk, and refined tuxedos. SEPT. / OCT. 2016 25

“THAT FIRE” Jai Matt x Pranna Jai Matt and Pranna deliver “That Fire,” a fresh new project and sound not just for the Urban Desi crowd, but for every avid music lover. “That Fire” is the first installation in the creation of a new, crisp sound the Jai Matt x Pranna duo has created together. Jai Matt’s melodious voice paired with Pranna’s impeccable ear for catchy beats makes this quite a treat. This track will break barriers, mend bridges, and bring our collective Urban Desi Music scene to new heights. With “That Fire,” the artists take a risk and release a primarily English track with just a dose of Punjabi influence to reel you in and keep you hooked for what they have in store for you next. Along with the infectious beat, the video provides a creative spin on music videos that sets it apart today delivered by GUYNEZ. "We wanted this record to approach the familiarity of today's hits with new scope. The visuals also bring an extra element to the song that makes it eye candy. We feel like we’ve created a song our audiences will enjoy as we wrap up the summer.” Jai Matt comments. This is only the beginning of what Jai Matt and Pranna will deliver so be sure to follow these talents on their social media platforms to keep up to date with their releases and the magic that is about to be created. to meet people from all walks of life. Being this receptive, he encourages everyone to approach him at a show and share their thoughts on his music. With a full-length album now under his belt, Pranna is dedicated to further crafting his artistic vision. He is already working on producing new music and
remixing popular songs from the “New Era” album. He plans to eventually branch out into different markets, and we may even hear him take the lead as a vocalist on future tracks. Whatever the case, Pranna plans to keep pushing the boundaries of what the world considers “traditional” music. SEPT. / OCT. 2016 27

A Philadelphia native, Pranna takes pride in his American heritage, and he draws inspiration from the blend of cultures and sounds it has to offer. Over the years, his musical taste has evolved by studying reggaeton, rap, trap, house, and dubstep. That influence is seen with the blend of elements in PRANNA’s music, from rhythmic dhols and acoustic guitars to heavy bass and massive synths. A self-taught producer, Pranna has also worked with artists such as Mickey Singh, FatehDOE, UpsideDown, Zeshan, and Kay V Singh, whom all are developing a new niche when it comes to South Asian music. Pranna’s music flows flawlessly with this sound, but it could just as easily be featured in American mainstream dance or hip-hop hits. Part of his creative vision is to transcend cultural boundaries, which is why much of his work features vocals in both English and Punjabi, often interchanging between the two languages. Through the power of social media, Pranna makes it a point to connect with fans whenever he can. His YouTube channel features videos that give fans a behind-the-scenes look at his life on tour and his creative process in the studio. Pranna’s favorite part of touring and performing, aside from the energy on stage, is getting the chance

An air of exclusive elegance, evocative of Haute Couture. Masculine patterns emphasised by size and colour. Grey turns silver, light blue takes on icy tones, pink evolves into tea rose hues. A Contrast between Masculine Geometric patterns and opulent embroideries. A shiny textured fabric supports the fluid silhouette, which is emphasised by the exotic flavour resulting from generously-cut black velvet trousers. A precious sensuality, enhancing the female body through deep cuts and a bare back. See-through, fully-embroidered bodysuits with long sleeves that become gloves.

FIRST LIGHT - JULIEN FOURNIÉ, FALL-WINTER 2016/2017
The countdown has begun. Planet earth is part of the finite universe and will soon turn off. Julien Fournié is exploringgalaxies and astrophysics, searchingfor a hopeful route, away from cynicism. “First Light” is the title of the autumn-winter 2016-2017 collection by the French couturier, as a contemporary echo to the definition of Paris as City of Lights, as an enlightened perspective on the only value that could transcend space and time: love. In our three-dimensional space, selfishness rules, darkness, rigidity and blood seem the only possible adornments under a yet infinitely fascinatingcelestial vault. The architectured rigor of coats is softened by the femininity of fused jewelrypieces conjuringup the signs of times. Gradually, the couturier calls to a fundamentalization of elegance, creating “contoured” pieces around feminine curves, to reveal each body in a new light. Adornments and embroidery alike play an essential role in this process: sparkling first on an exclusive new brocade to express the radiance of nebulae, they are then screenedby a veil of “dark matter”, or can become crimson crystal stalactites in a gravitational design of organic shapes. They end up playing on the repertoire of discretion in shades of “nude” to accentuate body morphing. MATERIALS ARE PRECIOUS: organza silk, cotton organdi or refinedto the extreme leather are used in delicate blouses, Including some chosen signs of classic space uniforms and embellished with crystal cuffs aroundruffled wrists or crystal arrows on asymmetrical collars. n With Sophie Hallette lace in esoteric patterns or exclusive brocades made in collaboration with Sfate & Combier, women dare includemohair in their long skirt or coat lining.. n In chiffon, georgette or silk jersey, the cuts enhance anatomical connections. Everythingcalls here for the fourth dimension. Julien Fournié, the co-founder of Dassault Systèmes’ FashionLab, is again opening the way for the development of research towards future tools, away from any “new” technological gizmos: “Haute Couture shouldcontinue to be to fashion what quantum physics is to astronomy,” he said. “I mean to allowentry into another dimension through a paradigm shift.” n Triple

Presenting a sylvan scene that emulates the perfection and chaos of nature’s enchanted realms, the Autumn Winter 2016/2017 collection is alive with cascading blossoms, aser-cut butterflies, dewy tulle sheaths and metallic dragonflies. A renewed interpretation of a fantastical wilderness and its binaries, the collection pursues the intersection between dusk and dawn, the romantic and the mystique. From draped satins and floor-sweeping organza trains with voluminous frills, to shades of 70’s bohemia present in smocking, oversized hats, braiding and fringing; our woodland muse is femininity in motion. A silken silhouette embroidered and delicately hand painted with blooms reminiscent of the 19th century Italian tapestries found in the Villa Necchi Campiglio. Tailored jackets in ice-white cashmere feature alongside a nightshade satin bomber adorned with hand cut mink pom-poms. Plunging stalactite necklines and cocoon capes are illuminated with bronze, silver and gold, iridescent in the changing light. Kaleidoscopic and euphoric in tone, autumnal burgundy and midnight blue silk-zibelines are infused with a muted, subtle palette of cornflower, apricot, lavender and dusky rose chiffons. Evergreen shades of flora and fauna are ruched and ornately embellished with the finest micro-beads, metallic barley stalks and feathers, intricate glass-beaded bumble-bee and beetle broaches, unifying design and humanity’s earthly connection to nature. Punctuated by laser cut taffeta forms, bold prints and bohemian mini skirts, the Autumn Winter 2016/2017 collection is a fantasia redefining artistry and reinterpreting the eternal cycle of being.

RALPH & RUSSO AUTUMN WINTER 2016/2017 COUTURE COLLECTION
ATELIER VERSACE FALL 2016
Pure elegance and experimentation – the essence of Atelier Versace. New ways with volume and draping, a silhouette of control and fluidity. Draped duchess satin is caught in dramatic twists, as if frozen in the moment: an exploration of form that runs throughout the collection. Cashmere coats have voluminous elegance, either doublefaced or bonded with contrast-colour duchess satin and worn over draped slip dresses. A study in tailoring, with jackets that purposefully fall off the shoulder, while draped evening gowns are worn with slender tailored pants. Embellishments appear spontaneously as if starbursts, like the Swarovski crystals on a cashmere evening coat with an elegantly draped back. Graceful dresses are the result of engineered pattern cutting, their drapes and constructed volumes showing the true skills of the Atelier. Alluring gowns skim the body, their contouring seams opened up, with flashes of embellishment revealed beneath. Pleats are given a new freedom in evening gowns, tracing across the body in waves before loosening to form an alluring net before fringing to the floor. Extravagant gowns reveal the beauty of control and flow, with pleats creating expressive shapes across the body, with folds creating a powerful silhouette. High heels add to the sense of modern sophistication, with twisted knots of leather that fall nonchalantly over the foot. The refinement of Atelier Versace is reflected in V Forever white gold rings created by Versace Fine Jewellery, with clear-cut solitaires using iconic Versace motifs. “I love the elegance, sophistication and drama of today’s woman. This is a collection that reveals a woman’s power, and her allure.” Donatella Versace

VIKTOR & ROLF
Viktor & Rolf’s Couture Autumn/Winter 2016 collection is created using select fabrics and garments from past seasons. Starting from scratch, fashion artists Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren use mementos from a multitude of past collections as a basis for their new creations. Fabrics are torn, mixed up and woven by hand to create new voluminous shapes and textures. Vintage pieces, including items from Viktor&Rolf's own archive, are used as a starting point for elaborately decorated garments. Embroideries consist of dense, organic mixtures of repurposed buttons, beads and crystals. The collection ponders over the past, where elements from past iconic collections are carefully scrutinized before being lovingly reworked into a new order. The past is looked at in a new light and used as a stepping-stone for the new, the more durable. As such, recycling is used as a means of expression rather than a goal in itself, reflecting a thoughtful attitude and a focus on conscious designing. Garments are crafted with a primitive approach to design. Ideals of Haute Couture craftsmanship are applied to techniques such as weaving and collage, emphasizing an exaggerated deliberately "handmade" aesthetic. Further inspiration is drawn from Dickens’ Vagabonds, those that belong nowhere, wandering from place to place, roaming the city. With their thrown-together, tattered and seemingly mismatched look, they inform a collection that is created using select fabrics and garments from past seasons.

VALENTINO HAUTE COUTURE, FALL-WINTER 2016/2017
The world as a stage, on which each individual represents himself, driven by passions, feelings, and by emotions that are infinite shades of living and being there. In the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli explore the idea of theatrum mundi for the Valentino Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2016-17 Collection. From the Elizabethan playwright they don’t grasp the stories, the plot or the protagonists, but the capacity of penetrating into the human spirit and depicting it with vivid accuracy in all its aspects and implications. It is the idea of the character as a personality, of the role as a persona that fascinates and triggers the Creative Directors, with the awareness that no individual is guided by one emotion only, but on the other hand unites them all, expressing them in different moments, or simultaneously. The individual’s interior multiplicity and complexity is the red thread that crosses a collection that is conceived as a portrait gallery, where every dress summarizes an impulse of the soul, even the most difficult to express, and all together convey the totality of man. The austere and moderate tone, the choice of dense colors, precious and nocturnal, upon which an opulent and deep black prevails, the intentional subtraction of the gleaming and theatrical aspects of Couture, confer to the creations presence and power and a masculine grace that is a repercussion of the Shakespearian world that has an intimately and highly masculine spirit. The figurative verve appears on white cotton shirts and on tulle or cotton ruffles that recur as a sign and accent, conferring solemnity to the succession of the dresses. The austere silhouette is drawn by slim trousers worn with petite masculine jackets, by the elongated and liquid dresses, by the boule shapes that release an archetypal grace, by the solemn and transcendent cloaks that underline the regal stride. Lushness is a submerged play of weaving that must be grasped on a closer look: on dark and sumptuous brocades, on taffetas scattered by tiny tie designs that bring together once again masculine and feminine, on the organza’s which are encrusted with poetic embroideries. Contrasts on the booties with thick soles, that are characterized by touches of Elizabethan punk and jewelry assembled on leather strings, created by Alessandro Gaggio. Transforming the secret inner being in apparel, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli celebrate the representative power of fashion and the exciting and emotional alchemy of the work of the Atelier.

YUIMA NAKAZATO It all started with a trip to Iceland, where the designer encountered grand landscapes of icebergs and auroras. This out of planet experience became the inspiration source of [UNKNOWN], the representation of natural wonders created by Japanese craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology. The sculptured pieces in this collection are made up of cells – rectangular sheets of film, which are intricately cut by a plotter machine and folded like origami to create single units – that are linked together to create these three dimensional garments. On the iconic Hologram material developed by YUIMA NAKAZATO, can be found photos of Icelandic ice using FUJIFILM’s printing technology. To further expand this outer worldly vision, YUIMA imagines a future in couture where the human body can be transformed as an element of fashion. With the assistance of Stratasys, computer graphic 3D body parts were printed using cutting edge 3D printers. There is an obscured line between real and virtual in today’s world. YUIMA NAKAZATO presents a collaboration of 2D and 3D printing techniques, along with Hologram film used in LCD screens - this is the birth of the [UNKNOWN] dress.

ELSA SCHIAPARELLI
PARIS FASHION WEEK
36 SEPT. / OCT. 2016
Elsa Schiaparelli marvelled in the art of the oxymoron. A silhouette of pure, sharp contour is transcended by a vision of the ordinary becoming spectacular. It reveals a strong woman with Parisian allure and cosmopolitan fantasy. Today is about defining the essence of a style in fostering the paradoxes of such an eclectic personality. The famous Circus, collection created for the summer 1938, led this new season’s heavenly parade to focus on the idea of sheen, light and colours enhancing the body. Haute Couture and the circus both crystallize poise, precision and sparkle - add imagination and an enchanting world comes to life. Grace and strength, like the feminine and the masculine, are paired in a subtle balance where women are confident with their seduction. The Schiaparelli jacket becomes architectural. Graphic shoulder lines refer to the Constructivist aesthetic. Shocking pink, navy or black tuxedos and jumpsuits morph verticality with femininity. Lightness, transparency, draping and fluidity dazzle with tension when the fabric swirls around the body with daring sensuality. Shiny brocade, silk lamé and iridescent pané velvet refer to a grand attitude where restrained elegance plays with shorts and slits. Bejewelled dress-straps echo Calder’s Circus. The incandescent suns of the place Vendôme shine bright on jackets and gowns. The harlequin motif is reconstructed into a multi-coloured embroidered dégradé. Circus’ stars inspire a milky way in which the house codes such as the pierced heart and the padlock are transformed into a new mythological constellation.

‘ARTISANAL’ COLLECTION AUTUMN – WINTER 2016 Innocence, risk, comfort, and protection. For the Autumn Winter 2016-17 Artisanal Collection, creative director John Galliano explores a modern reinvention of haute couture through his most personal interpretation of Maison Margiela’s esprit to date. Evoking an illustrative line, aristocracy is decontextualized through an urban lens. Explosive and colourful gestures of authentic fabrics snake and kerb around the body with an Empire line, tweaked and transitioned in modern gestures of protection and ecstatic abandon. Archetypes are reconfigured with rigor and romance, where a blurring of sartorial trappings meets the banal. “A sense of the incredible and the impossible spins throughout the Artisanal collection, where fantasy is tempered by the jarring authenticity of today’s reality. Our translation of a collective consciousness stretches further than ever before, invoking a timeless array of commonplace ephemera and things strangely familiar.” – Maison Margiela MATERIALS From fine muslin to resin-wax cottons or ripstop nylon, the rub of unprecious and delicate textiles is inherent to the collection’s tapestry of innovation and artisanal heritage. Opposing notions of feminine and masculine textiles are questioned and reconfigured with irreverence. Technical nylons meet Scottish wool from the Outer Hebrides, and motorcycle leathers bridge textiles woven from delicate cotton ribbons. Ornament appears as a ‘Toile de Jouy’ fabric, curvilinear ‘tribal’ studded motifs crossing swathes of knotted and padded wools, and celluloid bird appliqués decorating heavy plaid. A ‘cherubim’ lace is constructed from hundreds of minute individual fragments: it represents the technical apex of the Maison’s artisanal savoir-faire. TECHNIQUE The seminal proposal of outerwear styles flip upside-down from an inverted stance of arching volumes to become a traditional coat shape. Garments betray multiple identities; assembled together from familiar archetypes to become layered hybrids with double lapels and undefined endings and beginnings. A windcheater is carved with the convex curve of a Watteau back; a banker’s stripe shirt is spun into a sweeping train. An intricate cartography of eaves and cornices forms a gown in vacuum-formed smoky plastic, another springs to life patched with Nick Knight’s British Birds (2008). PALETTE A burst of primary colours elevates the drab of tweed shades, as scarlet, emerald, sky blue, and sunshine yellow shine against charcoal, forest green, mustard, and chocolate brown. Mid-century pastels like ice blue and lemon sorbet fizz amongst the monochromes. ACCESSORIES Intricate hoop earrings and ornate bracelets are hand-carved in Portugal from walnut, pear and boxwoods, and chandelier crystals appear as blood red chokers, embellished goggles, and a primary-coloured contour bra top. The original Maison Margiela deep-cleft ‘Tabi’ boot returns as a thigh-high cuissard with a new moulded rubber sole, alongside trekking-inspired sandals, fantasy hand-painted clogs, and a masculine riding boot.

Fantastic Fall ear after year, we see a bright spectacle of green, brown, yellow, and red shades: as the sun belongs to summer and snow belongs to winter, the variety of colors is part of the fall season: Not only is it the most colourful season of the year but also a real treasure chest of makeup and styling inspirations! We invite you to a walk through the fall forest und shows which look suits you best.
Four Beauty Seasons Green as spring, blue as the sea, as colourful as the leaves, or as white as the snow: it is beyond question that every season has a beauty all it’s own. According to the seasons, there are also four types of women. The fall type of women is characterized by a fresh complexion, with a golden beige or peach touch. Many of those fall beauties often have freckles; and either they tend to be red-haired or their blonde or brown hair has a golden cast. The eyes sparkle in intense colors, ranging from blue to olive or emerald green to amber and fawn. 44 SEPT. / OCT. 2016
Red Alert! Once the fresh chlorophyll starts to backtrack, the forests drape themselves in lush red hues that come along with all kinds of nuances. This play of colours inspires many women to decide for a makeover: it’s time for a new hair colour that is inspired by the colours of Indian Summer with all of its red and golden leaves or the versatile brown of cones, tree bark and wood. Even at this year’s fashion shows, the designers “saw red” and focused on red-haired beauties to present their couture. For those who still think about a “red makeover” can draw on coloration and semi-permanent hair colour. Fall Flashes Courage in colour: even though red has an avant-garde and modern effect, it can only be worn by a small number of women. Those who don’t want to waive warm hues for their eye makeup can use some ruby eye shadow to create thrilling smoky eyes. Fall-like bronze and copper hues, too, look great on a lot of women when applied on the movable lid or the lower lid line. This look especially

makes bright eyes shine! A golden eye shadow is the ultimate eye catcher when applied on the movable lid and the inner corner of the eyes. A lid line and a lot of mascara will make your eyelashes flutter and round out the look! Lips Don’t Lie Kylie Jenner’s lips recently made front-page news: the younger sister of the style icon Kim Kardashian likes highlighting her full lips with a bordeaux-colored lipstick. Red lips are one of the hottest trends this summer; and fall is the ideal inspirational source for these expressive statement lips! With a lush red, warm brown or a mixture of both colors, nature offers a great number of beautiful colors that masterly highlight our lips. Up to the Fingertips Fir sprigs parkas, mustard yellow ponchos, brown cord pants, and a ruby hat: Fall fashion is full of colours and combination possibilities! Sometimes, however, it’s the little things that make an outfit perfect: nail polish gives the

Fall and Winter.
W
ith the end of the summer around the corner, winterly sweetness ap-proaches: When it’s getting colder outside, we start longing for warm, ar-omatic and heavy fragrances. With shorter days and lower temperatures, chypre scents, oriental and gourmand aromas are coming, too. beau-typress presents the fragrances that will sugarcoat the coziest time of the year even more! Four seasons and its fragrances Fall marks the transition between summer and winter. In order to have the proper scent ready for this season that will make our individual per-sonalities stand out in any wind and weather, many perfume lovers have started collecting their very own “seasonal scent storage/collection”. Aquatically fresh as well as sweet and fruity summer fragrances are now to be toss in storage in a cool and dry place for a winter slumber. Different fragrance compositions with a more weighty quality are now on spot: earthy, woody, soft, balsamic, warm and sensual scents; attributes that fit especially well to fall and winter. The new every day companions predom-inantly contain warm accords such as vanilla and musk.
50 SEPT. / OCT. 2016
Fall Scents Anything goes this fall: a great number of aroma combinations are possi-ble during this season. Women now prefer the warmth, whereas men ra-ther go for woody and spicy fragrances. Many people also like to wear chypre scents besides oriental and spicy compositions: this is a perfume category that consists of a lemon-heavy top note such as bergamot or or-ange, a flowery heart of rose or jasmine oil and a warm, woody and mossy base note of oak moss and musk. With its earthy heavy, moldy sweet, very exotic scent, Patchouli is another important ingredient of ori-ental fragrances. In addition, the outlandish heavy, smoky scent of vetiver is very intense and long-lasting that hence fits perfectly to fall season. Sandelholz, as one of the oldest perfume ingredients, has a warm, soft, woody balsamic and sweet smell that steadily stays on the skin for quite a long time. It belongs to the precious, more expensive perfumery raw ma-terials and is responsible for the fragrance’s classic woody note. The all-time classic vanilla is the world’s best known aroma of mother na-ture. Its scent is very intense and yet, sweet and gives deepness and a long-lasting presence to perfumes.

HOTEL VINCCI CENTRUM MADRID
Photo & Text: Project Name: “Hotel Vincci Centrum Madrid", Photo: Adolfo Gosálvez, Studio: Beatriz Silveira Interiorismo
The Hotel Vincci Centrum in Madrid is a contemporary boutique hotel placed in an historical building.
Vincci Centrum is placed at an historical building dated back to 1920 and is protected as a National Heritage. The hotel was completely renovated, inspired by the glamour of the 1950’s and natural elements from Scandinavian design were used all over the hotel. Located in the center of Madrid, near Gran Via, the hotel finds itself in the cultural triangle formed by the Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia museums. Beatriz Silveira redesigned the Vincci Centrum and was inspired by the glamour of the 50’s and the Scandinavian design. The white and neutral colors invaded the walls, floors and lounge ceiling as well as all of the public areas of the hotel, bringing a greater sense of space. Beatriz used noble materials, such as Aristea marble evoking luxury and sophistication and natural oak to contrast with the bronze. The interior designer wanted to give its own personality to this 4-star property of the Vincci Hoteles, by using materials and brands that
combined design, quality and originality. For this project Beatriz was looking for an equilibrated contrast and harmony between colors, materials and patterns. The choice fell over those that enhance the light of the space, create warmth and a sense of coziness. The designer loved to perform the redesign of the Vincci Centrum and confessed to have some favorite pieces at the project. The Beetle Chairs and Stools by Gubi, a perfect mix between Italian and Danish design in laminated molded veneer, used at the Bellini food & bar. The Hanna Suspension Lamps by DelightFULL, a retro suspension fixture elegantly composed by five black & cooper lampshades made in aluminum, also used at the Bellini food&bar. And
the Turquoise Crystal Chandelier designed by Beatriz Silveira. She also used some exclusive pieces in the project, such as the impressive wine cellar that gains prominence and was specially designed by her for this hotel. "Aesthetics and functionality are not incompatible, a space can transmit strength and personality while harmony and warmth. The key is balance and the selection of each piece”, said Beatriz Silveira, interior designer. The 8 floor hotel, has 87 rooms, all equipped with air-conditioning, free safe, mini-bar, free Wi-Fi in all building, TV and a set of courtesy products. The 4-star hotel has also Junior Suite rooms with a small living room, a balcony with a view over the city and a special VIP room service. SEPT. / OCT. 2016 59

Connections Between Ancient Cultures.

hy is a non-functioning “doorway” carved from an entire hillside near Peru’s Lake Titicaca nearly identical to a sculpted plateau in Anatolia, Turkey? Best-selling author and ancient mysteries researcher Freddy Silva says the answer involves secret mystery schools and near-death experiences. Silva’s research has also uncovered connections between Inca ceremonial sites and similar “tombs” in Egypt, China and Greece. These ground-breaking new findings will be revealed on a Silva-led investigative tour of megalithic sites of Peru organized by Sacred Earth Journeys www.sacredearthjourneys.ca. Unlike most group tours that spotlight Machu Picchu, this October 25 - November 2, 2016 program, “Hidden Faces of the Power Places of Peru” will concentrate on the lesser-known megalithic sites such as Ollantaytambo, where cyclopean stones too massive for

modern cranes to lift were somehow transported across a river and up a near-vertical mountainside. Of course the group will visit Machu Picchu, but they will experience it from a different point of view. They’ll whiz through the citadel at sunrise and climb 1,200 feet to the top of nearby Huayna Picchu for a birds-eye view of the surroundings, postponing exploration of the more famous Inca city until afternoon,
when most of the tourists will have left. Other seldom-visited sites include the cave art and stone carvings at Killarumliyoq, the mysterious doorway to nowhere at Naupa Iglesia, and the Uros Islands in Lake Titicaca, where villagers live on floating islands made from reeds. “This is truly a tour that goes beyond the typical site visits,” said Sacred Earth Journeys President, Helen Tomei. “It focuses on details few people get to see
