A woman sings the lyrics of a song that enlightens several myths. For example, the lies we have been told about Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny or other traditions without logic. In a market by night, the horrors start among the closed stalls. They are most dangerous after the dismantlement of the blood trafficking network. Angie, warned by her grandmother, faces Harbey who is in love with her.

Mended • Alia Alkaff, 13’ (Sing) – World Première Uma mulher grávida costura um fatinho de bébé. “Que Deus lhe perdoe os pecados”, diz o homem, rasgando o fato. Que a mulher repare o seu erro com a vida.

A pregnant woman sews a baby suit. “May God forgive her sins” says her grandfather, tearing apart the baby garment. She should pay for her wrongdoings with her life.

Um bailado subaquático traz consigo outra beleza. Um casal real sem filhos tem finalmente uma herdeira que se revela um verdadeiro monstro que torna a vida no castelo insuportável. O assédio da governanta, que é afinal uma feiticeira malvada, amaldiçoa a família. Felizmente, há por lá uma fada boa. An underwater ballet adds extra beauty. The childless royal couple finally has an heir, a girl who is a real monster that makes life in the castle unbearable. The bullying of the governess, who turns out to be an evil sorceress, turned into a curse for the whole family. Fortunately, a kind fairy is near.

Um dia, constantemente assediada pelos homens que encontra pelo caminho, ajuda uma menina muda. Juntas vão enfrentar os perigos da estrada e os traficantes de crianças. Suspense e muita ternura neste filme vencedor do Prémio do Público no Cinemalayan Film Festival.

In an accident, her husband and her daughter die. In order to revenge the family she has lost, a woman, Sara, decides to take over her husband’s job as a lorry driver and look for the man who responsible for the tragedy. One day, constantly harassed by the men she meets, she helps a young mute girl. Together they are going to face the perils of the road and the children’s traffickers. A lot of suspense and tenderness in the winner of the Audience Award at the Cinemalayan Film Festival.

A paternidade em questão, a aridez e o silêncio entre as pessoas, o colmatar do amor, o desespero. Os serviços públicos de um país cansado. Quem é são e quem está louco? Outro magnífico retrato dos tempos modernos pela mão do realizador grego Vassilis Mazomenos, um visitante assíduo do Fantasporto que já lhe entregou um Prémio Carreira em 2001.

In a world dominated by the pandemic and violence, a few portraits of daily life. Questions about paternity, the aloofness and the silence among people, the completion of love, despair. The civil services in a weary country. Who is sane and who is mad? Another depiction of modern times by Greek master Vassilis Mazomenos, a habitué of Fantasporto and honoured with the festival’s Career Award in 2001.

Ruben Broekhuis, 76´(Hol) – International Première – Cenas eventualmente chocantes – v.o. leg. port. O horror das crianças migrantes que desaparecem sem rasto na Europa e o tráfico de humanos. Aisha e o irmão Adin vieram da Bósnia sozinhos para a Holanda. Um realizador espanhol, Elias, vai ouvir a sua história e investigar com ela a razão do desaparecimento súbito do irmão. O que descobrem é a arrepiante verdade que os põe em risco de vida. Um exemplo de bom cinema, mas também um tema actual que deve incomodar todos. 1ª longa-metragem de ficção deste realizador holandês.

The horror of the migrant children who vanish without a trace in Europe and human trafficking. Aisha and her brother came from Bosnia alone. A Spanish director, Elias, is going to film her story and help her investigate how her brother suddenly disappeared. What they discover is a terrifying truth that risk their lives. An example of good cinema but also call for attention to a very disturbing subject. A first feature by this director.

Retrospectiva – O Cinema de Lapuz – v.o. leg. ingl. Um respeitado senador deixa temporariamente a sua mulher de seis décadas para tomar conta do seu melhor amigo que é gay e a morrer de cancro. Apesar da benção da mulher, os seus 3 filhos ficaram escandalizados. O homem desafia o seu protesto colectivo e declara que ama o seu amigo, padrinho dos três no baptismo e do seu casamento, do mesmo modo que ama a sua mulher.

A revered former senator temporarily leaves his wife of six decades to take care of his gay best friend, who is dying of cancer. Notwithstanding their mother’s blessings, his three children are scandalized. The old man defies their collective protest and declares that he loves his friend – godfather to all three both in baptism and matrimony – the same way that he loves his wife.
