A woman living in a barge is tormented by Fear itself, after a traumatic experience. Film with several awards, such as Jury Awards in Tokyo and Chicago Horror and Best Horror Short in the Venice short film festival. The director is working in the UK and Hollywood and participated in the special effects of films such as “Star Wars – The Force Awakens”, “Interstellar” and “The Dark Knight”.

Arrependido, volta ao sítio onde o deixou, mas o cão desapareceu. Entra então numa loja de conveniência de uma estação de serviço que fica perto. Uma realidade paralela o espera, assim como uma mulher casada que vai desbloquear a sua criatividade. Uma história da imaginação muito original e inesperada.

A screenwriter in a creative block abandons his girlfriend’s dog in a field far away so that he doesn’t have to take care of it. Soon repenting, he goes back to the place where he left it but the dog is no longer there. Nearby is a convenience store in a gas station. A parallel reality awaits him. Meeting a married woman is going to set his creativity free again. A story of the imagination presented in a very original and unexpected form.

Os efeitos da pandemia, de como os outros tratam os diferentes, a morte, a vida, a cultura, a honestidade e a mentira, o amor e a traição, contados através de um longo diálogo que reconstitui vidas e tragédias pessoais. O que parece não é num argumento cheio de surpresas. Produzido por Ferdinand Lapuz.

During the pandemic, A gay professor meets with one of his students at a restaurant and go through their past and how human relationships have evolved. The effects of the pandemic, how society sees different people, death, life, culture, honesty, lies, love and treason, all dissected in a long dialogue that reviews past lives and personal tragedies. Things are never what they seem in a screenplay filled with unexpected twists. Production by Ferdinand Lapuz.

Retratos da vida quotidiana e dos extremos a que pode chegar e uma história de amor irreverente e comovedora que esconde problemas mais profundos. A mulher rica que quer um filho, a amante que deseja mais, o guarda que encontra a felicidade, a deficiente que vai para a cidade e conhece outros modos de vida. Ou, como diz o realizador, dois casais são decentes no início e felizes no fim. Mais um exemplo do grande cinema de Milcho Manchevski, vencedor do Festival de Veneza e já homenageado no Fantasporto.

Kaymak is an irreverent, unconventional and poignant love story. A young, rich couple are on top of the world, when a distant relative comes to live with them. Underneath its exploration of the eternal search for love, Kaymak tackles darker social issues – surrogate parenting, infidelity, woman’s role in family and society, human trafficking, sexual freedom… Another example of the great cinema by Manchevski, a winner of the Venice Film festival and Career Award of Fantasporto.

Takashi Shimizu, 117’ (Jap) – World Première – v. o. leg. port. Numa ilha do sul, Tomohiko Kataoka, um programador, trabalha no desenvolvimento da tecnologia da realidade virtual e da neurociência. Num portal vermelho descobre barulhos que tomam a forma de uma pessoa no mundo virtual. Assim, fica ligada a esta realidade e também a um espírito vingativo, Imajo, que amaldiçoa a ilha e mata as pessoas numa série de mortes violentas por afogamento. Mais uma ideia original do mestre do horror japonês, realizador de “The Grudge e “Suicide Forest Village”, vencedor do Fantasporto em 2021.

In a little southern island, Tomohiko, a researcher, works on research development in virtual reality technology and neuroscience. Then he finds a strange red gate and noises in the shape of a person from data records of the virtual reality world. That leads the island to be connected to the other world and Imajo, a vengeful ghost that curses the island, comes after and dooms with violent drowning deaths. Another very original story coming from the Japanese master of horror who directed “The Grudge and “Suicide Forest Village”, winner of Fantasporto in 2021.

Liza está imersa em dor pela perda do amor da sua vida quando recebe a visita da pessoa menos provável, o marido que ela deixara há 5 anos. Sem muitas perguntas, Anton convida-a a regressar a ele e aos seus 3 filhos. A sua primeira longa-metragem, do realizador, “Dementia”, esteve em competição no Fantasporto 2014 e venceu o Prémio de Melhor Filme Estrangeiro no St. Tropez International Film Festival. “Distance” esteve também em competição no Tokyo International Film Festival em 2018.

Liza is still drowning in grief from losing the love of her life when she receives a visit from the most unlikely person – her husband, who she left five years ago. With no questions asked and no conditions made, Anton invites her back to his and their two children’s lives. The first feature film of tis director, “Dementia” was in competition at the 2014 Oporto International Film Festival and won Best Foreign Language Film at the St. Tropez International Film Festival. Distance competed at the 2018 Tokyo International Film Festival.

Excelente interpretação de Ivo Saraiva e uma realização dinâmica de Tiago Santos nesta primeira longa-metragem rodada na região de Viseu.

In an apocalyptic world the routine of the days and hours are the only company of a survivor. He deals with the difficulties of solitude, hunger and fear which rule his life and faces the threats around him. What noises are those that disturb his peace? Who haunts him? Who or what does he chase? Fine acting by Ivo Saraiva and a dynamic direction by Tiago Santos in this first feature shot in the Viseu region.

Retrospectiva – O Cinema de Lapuz – v. o. leg. Ingl. Bwakaw é uma comédia dramática acerca do envelhecer e o medo que todos temos de envelhecer sozinhos. Rene é um homem gay que se assumiu publicamente quando tinha já 70 anos. Doente nos seus últimos anos, pensa que já é tarde para o amor e que tudo o que tem à frente é apenas a morte. Lana venceu o Prémio de Melhor Realizador nos festivais de Tallinn, Nova Delhi, Madrid e Vladivostok.

Bwakaw is a drama-comedy about growing old, and everyone’s fear of growing old alone. Rene is a gay man who came out of the closet at age 70. Ailing in his twilight years, he thinks it is now too late for love, even companionship, and that all there is to look forward to is Death. Lana won Best Director awards from Tallinn, New Delhi, Madrid and Vladivostok international film festivals.

Uma jovem mulher vê o marido partir para a guerra antes de terem o desejado filho. Sabendo que o marido morreu e na posse de um livro demoníaco, ela vai tentar trazê-lo de volta dos mortos. Mas que seres são aqueles que estão num casulo? Um belo exemplo de novo terror fantástico a que não será alheio o facto de um dos produtores e argumentista, ser o ilustrador e designer Jean Marc Toussaint que esteve no Fantasporto em 1996 e depois foi mesmo o autor do cartaz do festival em 1997. Para os amantes do horror fantástico.

A young woman sees her husband leave for the war before they can have a much desired child. Knowing that he has died, in the possession of a demonic book, she is going to try to bring him back from the dead. A fine example of the new horror, surely with the influence of its writer and one of the producers of the film, the designer Jean Marc Toussaint who visited Fantasporto in 1996, having later created the poster of the festival in 1997. Not to be missed by the fans of fantasy horror.
