What is Holland’s Next Top Model?
Holland’s Next Top Model was aired in Holland on RTL 5 every wednesday evening between 20:30 and 21:30. The program is the Dutch version of the American tv show ‘America’s next top model’ created by talk-show host, head judge, executive producer of the program and model Tyra Banks.
Holland's Next Top Model, is a reality television series in which a number of women compete for the title of Holland's Next Top Model and a chance to start their career in the modeling industry. The can win a contract at a modeling agency with a priceworth of 100.000 euro. In Holland's Next Top Model is Yfke Sturm the host and head judge in the beginning. After a while did Renate Verbaan the hosting and head judging part, and at the last season Daphne Deckers took it over. I watched an episode of the last, 3th, season with Daphne Deckers. In this episode were Mariane Verkerk,
Paul Berends, Daphne Deckers and Bastiaan van Schaik the judge. The models had there very own coach, Fred van Leer.

The host of ANTP is the producer and the host. For Holland it is only 2 persons to translate it and make it into a Dutch version; they oversee all the aspects of making the program They make the whole story around HNTM. Also they work backstage helping with outfits, styling etc.

The analyse the news and content the editorial staff have found. In many ways it’s like a producer but they are really important on the day of the show is being taped. Each camera has a cameraman. There are allot of camera’s. For audio they use 3 persons. He is responsible for the recorder of the broadcast. In the show, there are pictures, movies etc. This team is responsible for the right media. They do the make-up of the presenter, judge, models This team collect all the photo’s about the models, so when they will being judged the picture appears next to them.

As you already have seen is that Holland Next Top Model is broadcasted on RTL 5. But what is RTL 5 and for what does it stands for?

RTL 5 is a cheeky and quirky transmitter with a young and seductive look. It is a transmitter for a wide audience, both men and women, with a focus on viewers between 20 and 34 years. Typical RTL 5 programs, with reality, challenge and adventure predominate, are 'Expedition Robinson', 'Holland' Next Top Model "and" Project Catwalk ". The viewer can count on a high-profile programming. Therefor is Holland next top model an excellent program for RTL 5, it is young, seductive and there is a challenge in it.

Critique about Holland Next Top Model from my point of view including a press statement from a winning model of this show I made the analysis about. America’s Next Top Model is a successful program, they made a statement with that show. Holland Next Top Model is succesful because it has the name, format and concept as America Next Top Model. But Holland is not so glamoures as America so that is why it is not so succesful in Holland as it is in America. RTL 5 is not showing Holland Next Top Model anymore because the viewing rates went down after every season. People don’t find it intressting anymore to see models fighting for a contract. Also one girl won HNTM and she was offered a contract but they never gave it to her because she is too fat for the agency. Here is her story:

Dieuwke Levinson-Arps, who is representing Marchildon, claims her client was told by a lawyer working for Elite that she was sacked because "although she has a nice face, she has a fat arse" and that "she never had it in her to become a top model because she was unsuitable for catwalk work". She said Marchildon's physiology meant she had "no chance" of having 90cm hips, even with a strict diet and exercise regime. "Already she was very skinny, almost anorexically skinny," said Levinson-Arps. This is why the show now has a bad reputation. The best thing they can do right now is to still give her the prize and show it on RTL 5. So they will save their reputation. A year after is the audience already forgotten about the scandal, and RTL 5 can show HNTM again.
