assata la buriana della settimana della moda, arriva il momento di tirare le somme. Per i buyer, per le aziende, per il sistema nel suo insieme. E questa volta il riscontro è stato unanime: si è trattato di una prova di forza vinta su tutta la linea. Le nostre eccellenze hanno dato spettacolo.

Colte in pieno dal dibattito mondiale intorno al ‘See Now Buy Now’, hanno sottolineato, creativamente, l’importanza della filiera nostrana. È ben chiaro a tutti, ormai, che i capi pregiati e gli accessori preziosi visti in passerella a Milano non possono scaturire dal capriccio di un momento, ma sono il risultato di una gestazione ponderata, misurata, meticolosa. Che non può essere improvvisata o, peggio, impoverita. La nuova velocità di cui tanto si parla non è dunque da acquisire sul versante produttivo, delle lavorazioni. A parte le dovute ottimizzazioni informatiche, che sono necessarie e aiutano a traiettare prassi antiche nella modernità del web, la manualità e l’artigianalità hanno bisogno dei propri tempi. La novità da cogliere sta invece tutta sul fronte comunicativo. L’impatto generato dalla ricercatezza e dalla ricchezza delle collezioni deve potersi propagare a colpi di ondate dirompenti.

Qui tanto si è fatto, ma tanto resta da fare. Le maison si sono organizzate, coinvolgendo in modo sempre più arguto celebrity, influencer e blogger in una sinfonia di voci. È ora il sistema a doversi evolvere. Gli eventi italiani della moda devono imparare a potenziarsi a vicenda, facendo passare in pieno il proprio messaggio di originalità. Non è una sfida facile. Ma se è vero che oltre a essere un popolo di creatori appassionati, siamo anche degli affabulatori spassionati, può essere vinta.

E alla grande, anche.

Desire First, Buy Later

What a topic moment this fashion week has been. Buyers and businesspeople alike came away with one main impression. A general yearning for ‘Buy Now See Now‘ notwithstanding, Italian craftsmanship is unrivalled and cannot be governed by speed alone. Creativity and artisanship need to be given their due time. The collective genius loci, born straight out of the Renaissance, cannot be forced into being by sheer financial firepower. It is the result of layers over layers of culture, education and training. Tradition has a value of its own, and its artifacts are to be admired on the catwalks of Milano Moda Donna: even more so when distilled in the most contemporary of forms. The case to be made therefore is not one of speeding up the production process at all costs.

The lasting quest is about creating formats and happenings that encourage the influencers of the world to speedily board aircrafts to come to Italy to propagate its message of profoundly rooted finesse, globally, in real time.

In a few years’ time Claudio Marenzi, owner of Herno, pushed the family company to triple its turnover up to 80 million euro. The Italian entrepreneur explains his strategy behind the success story

Q

ual è il fil rouge stilistico che lega tra loro le collezioni Herno?

Sicuramente l’origine di tutto è da ricercarsi nel dettame della funzionalità. Siamo un’azienda con un forte imprinting manifatturiero, radicata nello sportswear, che esprime esteticamente un concetto di pulizia, privo di orpelli. Detto ciò, ci piace giocare, stupire, sganciarci dai cliché, sempre nel rispetto di rigorose forme geometriche.

Ed ecco nascere collezioni come la capsule disegnata da Pierre Louis Mascia, ispirata alle stampe dei foulard di seta che fungevano da fodera dei nostri capi negli anni Settanta, ma che si inserisce a pieno titolo in questo nuovo solco più minimal. Rimaniamo dunque ancorati al nostro heritage, ma in un’ottica rivoluzionata, ben simboleggiata dall’“inside out” di Mascia.

Il marchio come riflette questa scelta di fondo?

Innanzitutto ci asteniamo dal lanciare un messaggio di lifestyle, privilegiando invece il prodotto in sé. In questo contesto puntiamo a consolidare il marchio, facendo molta attenzione che sia esposto in modo corretto. Ribadisco che non abbandoniamo affatto il wholesale per il retail, puntiamo invece con determinazione a presidiare i più bei department store e i migliori negozi multimarca. La nostra strategia consiste nel fare breccia in un consumatore evoluto, che ci affianca ai grandi marchi del lusso.

Fortunatamente il mercato ci premia in questo senso, segnalandoci che il nostro prodotto vince perché ben abbinabile a questo particolare segmento.

Il mercato domestico che importanza ricopre?

L’Italia rimane per noi il mercato numero uno ed è interessante anche per le sue percentuali di crescita. È un mercato che, seppure in modo più tranquillo, ci dà estrema soddisfazione. Per quanto riguarda gli altri Paesi, continua a primeggiare il Giappone. Si tratta di un mercato per molti versi simile all’Italia, con consumatori molto sofisticati ed esigenti. Avere il baricentro spostato su questi due mercati lo reputo un bene, ci costringe a tenere alto il livello di attenzione sul prodotto. Percentualmente cresciamo molto bene anche negli Stati Uniti, dove ci viene dato atto di un importante sia a livello di prodotto, sia a livello di consegne.

Numericamente, il quadro d’insieme come si prospetta?

Abbiamo chiuso il 2015 a 71 milioni di euro di fatturato e per il 2016 prevediamo un ulteriore sviluppo a doppia cifra, arrivando dunque a sfiorare gli 80 milioni. Certo, non è facile gestire una crescita di questa dimensione: non si possono, ad esempio, demandare certe scelte in materia di investimenti. Abbiamo però la fortuna di avere in azienda persone molto valide, che stanno compiendo un grande sforzo di programmazione e di organizzazione.

WHAT IS THE AESTHETIC RATIONALE BEHIND THE HERNO COLLECTIONS? What is the aesthetic rationale behind the Herno collections?

Everything stems from an idea of functionality. We are a company with a strong footprint in manufacturing. Being rooted in sportswear, we abide to a concept of cleanliness, without too many frills.

We do, however, like to constantly play, surprise and avoid clichés, even when respecting our code of geometrical purity. This is how collections like the capsule designed by Pierre Louis Mascia are born. It is clearly inspired by the printed silk linings we used in the Seventies for our coats, but it is decidedly more minimal. We are in

line with our heritage, but in a revolutionary way, like the inside out approach chosen by Mascia symbolises very well.

How does the brand reflect these choices?

First and foremost, we do not convey a message of lifestyle, but bet on the product itself instead. We want to consolidate the brand by paying a lot of attention on where it is shown. Also, we do not plan to substitute our wholesale business with a retail business. For us it remains crucial to be present within the best department stores and multibrand boutiques worldwide. Our strategy is to aim at a customer of refined taste who likes to associate us with luxury brands.

The feedback from the marketplace is that our product wins because it can be easily combined with products fromm this segment.

How important is the domestic market?

Italy still is our first market and remains interesting because of ist growing appetite for our products. We are very satisfied in that sense. Abroad, our most important clients continue to be the Japanese. There we have a market that is in many ways similar to Italy, with large numbers of sophisticated and demanding consumers. To be well exposed onto these two markets does our brand a world of good, as we are forced to keep a high level of attention on our product. In terms of percentages, we are also growing very strongly in the United States. Americans like the effort we have put into our collections as well as the discipline we impose upon ourselves when delivering.

Numerically, how do all these aspects add up?

In 2015 we sold goods for 71 million euro and expect to grow by double digits also in 2016, when we will come close tot he threshold of 80 million euro in turnover. Of course, it is not easy to manage a growth rate of this magnitude, you have to operate certain investments for instance. We do however have very able people within the company, ■ who help us organize and structure the many challenges ahead.

Valentino ha realizzato un +48% dei ricavi, a 987 milioni di euro. «E quest’anno - ha dichiarato il ceo Stefano Sassi - l’obiettivo minimo resta una crescita a doppia cifra». L’ebitda della maison in capo a Mayhoola for Investment è quasi raddoppiato a 180,2 milioni, con un’incidenza sul fatturato del 18,3% (dal 14,8%) e l’ebit è salito a 104,4 milioni (da 43 milioni).

Nel 2015 le attività nel lusso della francese Kering hanno raggiunto i 7,9 miliardi di euro di ricavi, in aumento del 16%. Gucci ha realizzato un +12% (da -1,8% del 2014), mentre Bottega Veneta è salita di quasi il 14% (da +11%) e Ysl ha messo a segno un +38% (da +27%). I ricavi degli altri brand in portafoglio (tra questi Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga e Stella McCartney) sono saliti del 20%. Il risultato operativo consolidato del luxury business, escluse le voci non ricorrenti, si è attestato a 1,7 miliardi (+2,5%). Positivi Ysl (+60%) e Bottega Veneta (+5%), segno meno per Gucci (-2%) e gli “altri brand” (-10%). Questa generica voce di bilancio comprende il menswear Brioni, che sta attraversando una fase di difficoltà. A causa del calo delle commesse, sarebbero a rischio 400 dipendenti (su 1.250 totali). La proprietà ha assicurato che non dislocherà l’azienda abruzzese e che a breve sarà varato un nuovo piano industriale.

Il colosso dello sportswear Adidas resta leader tra i competitor europei, con i suoi 16,9 miliardi di euro di ricavi, ma la rivale Puma nel 2015 ha ripreso slancio.

Il brand del felino, ultimamente sotto i riflettori per la linea Fenty firmata con Rihanna, ha realizzato un aumento delle vendite del 13,8% a 3,4 miliardi (dopo il -0,4% del 2014). Restano problemi a livello di risultato operativo: 96 milioni di euro nel 2015, in calo del 25% sul 2014, per via dell’impatto negativo delle valute, come spiega la società controllata da Kering. L’utile è sceso da 64 a 37 milioni. Quanto alla rivale Adidas, i ricavi consolidati annuali sono saliti del 16% e del 10% a valute costanti, per effetto del +12% di adidas e del + 6% di Reebok. In controtendenza TaylorMade-adidas Golf (-13%). L’utile operativo del gruppo, che in ottobre cambierà ceo (dalla Henkel arriverà Kasper Rorsted), si è attestato poco sopra il miliardo di euro (+20%), mentre l’utile è salito a 634 milioni (+29%).

Total revenue of the other brands in its portfolio (including Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and Stella McCartney) grew by 20%. The luxury business recurring operating income amounted to 1.7 billion (up 2.5%). Ysl and Bottega Veneta reported an increase in recurring operating income (up 60% and 5%, respectively), while Gucci was down 2% and the “other brands” were down 10%.This general balance sheet item includes the menswear brand Brioni, which is going through a difficult period. Due to the decline in orders, 400 employees (of 1,250 total) are at risk. The ownership has assured that it will not displace the Abruzzo company and that a new business plan will shortly be launched.

Adidas in the lead in Europe, Puma on the rise The sportswear giant Adidas remains the leader in Europe, with 16.9 billion euro in revenue, but in 2015, its rival Puma gathered momentum. This brand, which has recently been in the spotlight thanks to the line Fenty designed by Rihanna, achieved an increase in annual sales of 13.8% to 3.4 billion (following a fall of 0.4% in 2014.) The company still has problems in terms of operating income: 96 million euro in 2015, down 25% on 2014, due to adverse currency effects, as the Kering parent company explains. Net earnings have fallen from 64 million euro to 37 million euro. The annual consolidated revenue of its rival Adidas increased by 16% and 10% at constant currencies, with adidas up 12%, Reebok up 6% opposed by -13% of TaylorMadeAdidas Golf. SLOW FASHION REVOLUTION Rischiava di essere la fashion week del “see now, buy now”, ma Milano ha ridimensionato il fenomeno, etichettandolo come «marketing puro». Anziché cavalcare i social media come i colleghi anglosassoni, stilisti e imprenditori di casa nostra scommettono sulla “lentezza” del made in Italy e sulla concentrazione di tutta la filiera. e top model hanno sfilato (su tutte Gigi Hadid e Kendall Jenner), le performance extra hanno strappato gli applausi (Chris Brown da Philipp Plein e Rita Ora da Francesco Scognamiglio), gli ospiti delle prime file hanno scaldato i fotografi (Amanda Lepore da Fausto Puglisi e Natalie Dormer da Max Mara) e, soprattutto, i buyer sono tornati ad amare Milano e a fare ordini (vedi servizio a pag. 20). In più c’è stato anche l’omaggio di Matteo Renzi al made in Italy e ai giovani stilisti italiani, con cui il primo ministro si è concesso una foto di gruppo sulla scalinata dell’Arengario. «Una settimana eccezionale», come l’ha definita

Carlo Capasa, presidente delle Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. Ma in cui, nonostante la grande offerta - data la concomitanza di Milano Moda Donna con i saloni White, Super e Mipap - si è parlato poco di abiti e di trend. È stato il futuro del sistema moda l’argomento di discussione della fashion week. Gli addetti ai lavori si sono presentati il primo giorno di sfilate con un dubbio amletico: seguire gli americani e gli inglesi, che vogliono accelerare il sistema con il “see now buy now”, o rispettare i classici sei mesi di distanza tra passerella e arrivo in negozio degli abiti. Nonostante lo scenario resti confuso, durante la manifestazione si è

fatta strada la convinzione, condivisa anche dalle aziende francesi, che per sostenere il comparto del lusso la componente “attesa” sia necessaria. Tanto che all’ultimo giorno di sfilate, dopo 180 collezioni e pochi esempi di ready to buy tra cui Prada (ma solo con due borse) e Moschino (con una capsule), la posizione tra imprenditori, manager e stilisti era praticamente unanime: l’Italia è per lo “slow fashion”. «I tempi del lusso e della moda che seguiamo oggi sono validissimi dice Brunello Cucinelli a chi lo interroga sull’argomento -. Ci vogliono fino tre mesi per preparare un capo come si deve e altrettanti per realizzarlo. Non possiamo togliere

È questo il responso dello studio commissionato a Boston Consulting Group dal Cfda, la Camera della moda americana, su come ripensare il sistema della moda a stelle e strisce. La società di consulenza ha individuato diversi temi caldi: oltre al “see now, buy now”, anche i tempi di consegna delle collezioni e la riduzione dei prezzi al dettaglio. Sfogliando le pagine del report, costruito sulla base delle risposte di 50 operatori del settore tra cui designer, imprenditori, giornalisti, manager, department store e boutique online, si fa largo l’idea di dare più importanza a una strategia “in season”. Anche se Boston Consulting specifica che ogni singolo marchio deve decidere per sé, suggerisce la possibilità di presentare le collezioni durante la stagione corrispondente di vendita, aprendo al pubblico di massa. CFDA Study Calls for Change: more “in season” relevancy The time is ripe for change. This is the conclusion of the Boston Consulting Group’s study commissioned by the CFDA, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, on how to rethink the American fashion industry. The consulting firm identified several hot topics, from “see now, buy now” to the delivery time of collections and the reduction of retail prices. The report - which was based on answers provided by 50 professionals, including designers, entrepreneurs, journalists, managers, department stores and online boutiques - places emphasis on the idea of giving more importance to an “on-season” strategy. Although Boston Consulting specifies that each brand must make its own decisions, it suggests the possibility of presenting collections during the corresponding sales season, opening them to the general public. Buyers, on the other hand, could view the garments at the current time at intimate, private events. This comes partly in the wake of MSGM’s decision to ask attendees at the Milan Fashion Shows not to post pictures on social media.

Top supermodels paraded (foremost among them Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner), the accompanying performances met with great applause (Chris Brown for Philipp Plein and Rita Ora for Francesco Scognamiglio), the front row guests thrilled the photographers (Amanda Lepore for Fausto Puglisi and Natalie Dormer for Max Mara) and, above all, buyers returned to appreciate Milan and place orders (see service on pg. 20). On the first day of the fashion shows, industry insiders were presented with a Hamlet-like dilemma: to follow the Americans and British, who want to accelerate the industry with a “see now, buy now” approach, or to respect the classic six month gap between the catwalk and stores. Although the situation remains decidedly confused, a belief (shared by the French companies) gained ground during Fashion Week that the wait is necessary in order to sustain our fashion industry. So much so that on the last day of the fashion shows, after 180 collections and a few ready-to-buy examples including Prada (though only in the case of two bags) and Moschino (with a capsule collection), the position held by entrepreneurs, managers and designers was virtually unanimous: Italy is for “slow fashion”. «The current timeframe for luxury and fashion is completely valid - argues Brunello Cucinelli, when questioned on the subject - It takes up to three months to properly prepare a garment and other three months to produce it.

I tre vincitori sul podio sono nell’ordine Gucci, Prada e Versace. La prima evidenza è che Instagram è un canale molto apprezzato dal mondo del fashion: nei sei giorni di Milano Moda Donna i brand hanno pubblicato in media 31 post ciascuno. The “final verdict” of #Instagram Fashion Index - the observatory that the consulting firm Blogmeter dedicated for the first time to the performance of fashion brands on photosharing social media, during Milan Fashion Week - is a total of 10 million interactions in the course of the six-day event.

Gucci held first place on the podium, followed by Prada and Versace. Blogmeter analysed key performance indicators, such as total interactions, number of followers, new followers, unique authors, most engaging hashtags and engagement per post. The results show that Instagram is a popular marketing channel in the fashion world: in the six days of Milan Fashion Week, each brand posted an average of 31 posts. According to Blogmeter experts, the activity of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion’s Instagram account contributed to the success of the event, keeping followers constantly up-to-date by sharing 94 posts dedicated to fashion shows, backstage and celebrities, which resulted in over 35,000 interactions. With regard to individual fashion houses, the winner of the event on Instagram was, predictably, Gucci. The double-G brand was the champion of engagement, with 2.2 million total interactions and 103,500 new followers. Among the most popular hashtags were #AlessandroMichele and #GucciFW16. Gucci was followed by Prada and Versace, respectively in second and third place, with 1.9 and 1.4 million total interactions.

Gli influencer? Pochi, ma in prima fila.

L’Italia perde posti, stabili i Buyer: 60 a show Già di per sé, far sedere 500 persone in una sala non è facile. Quando poi i soggetti da far accomodare sono non solo la stampa e i buyer di tutto il mondo, ma anche i gettonatissimi web influencer, l’impresa si fa ardua. Il sitting delle sfilate, infatti, sta diventando un gioco strategico, dove le regole cambiano. Fatto salvo l’abc - prima fila per i direttori e, dietro, a seguire, vice e capiredattori e fashion editor - oggi dominano due correnti: una tradizionale (più seguita a Milano e Parigi) che vede la stampa fare la parte del leone, con il numero di posti assegnati agli influencer regolarmente sotto i 20. C’è poi una selezione di aziende - non molte in Italia - che, in sintonia con la natura del loro marchio, privilegiano blogger e influencer rispetto ai fashion editor. In questi casi il numero di guest “social” può salire. «Sei mesi fa - ha detto a Fashion il responsabile della comunicazione di una maison italiana - c’è stato chiesto di portare 40 influencer/blogger mondiali. È stato un problema: non ce ne sono così tanti di riferimento».

A ogni tornata di sfilate, il sitting rappresenta una sorta di esame sull’immagine di un mercato.

E purtroppo l’Italia, nonostante giocasse in casa, a Milano ha dato segnali di cedimento.

I posti per la stampa locale sono diminuiti, ma non drasticamente. Nella pianta delle sfilate dominano gli Usa, seguiti dalla Gran Bretagna. La Francia è stabile, ma meno considerata dai brand emergenti. In ascesa l’Asia. E infine il capitolo buyer: per un fashion show da 500 posti ce ne sono tra i 60/70. Difficilmente si lamentano del posto assegnato. Per questo sono gli ultimi a essere inseriti nei sitting. Ma alcuni di loro stanno diventando personaggi chiave. In molti si chiedono se compratori come Justin O’Shea di Mytheresa.com e Ken Downing di Neiman Marcus non si meritino il titolo di influencer, al pari di Eva Chen e Bryanboy. (an.bi.)

According to analysis by the Mediobanca’s research department released during the fashion shows, Italian fashion companies are enjoying greater success than large manufacturing companies. Although they are smaller than French luxury groups, like Lvmh and Kering, they record comparable growth performance. They are also less leveraged and more liquid. This verdict is based on analysis of the 143 largest Italian fashion companies, which boasted a turnover of at least 100 million in 2014.

Italian fashion companies boasted an average increase of 5.8% in 2014. From 2010 to 2014, the liquidity of these fashion companies also grew from a total of 3.7 to 5.9 billion (+60.2%). Therefore, the study seems to indicate that the Italian industry model works well. who sits where (and why) at the milan fashion week Seating 500 people in one room is no mean feat. And when the people you have to accommodate include not just media gotha and buyers from all over the world, but also the ultra-popular web influencers, the order becomes all the taller. It means that seating plans for fashion shows it becoming a strategic game of chess , but one where the rules are changing. Beyond the ironclad basics (i.e. directors go in the first row, followed by vice-directors and fashion editors) there are two main styles. The traditional one (most common in Milan and Paris) sees the press take the lion’s share of seats, with no more than 20 places for influencers. The alternative style has come because of a group of companies (not many in Italy) who have invested in social media and prefer to send influencers rather than fashion editors. «Six months ago - one communications director from an Italian brand told us - we were asked to have 40 global influencers and bloggers at the show. It was a problem: there aren’t that many with such a high profile around». For this round of catwalk, the seating plan represents a kind of image chart on a particular market. And despite playing at home, Italy press showed signs of losing seats in Milan. The USA dominated the shows. Asia is is growing.

And what of the buyers? A 500-seat fashion show sees around 60 or 70 in attendance. They’re the last to be inserted into the seating plan. But some of them are becoming key players. Many are asking themselves whether buyers like Justin O’Shea from Mytheresa.com or Ken Downing from Neiman Marcus deserve the title of influencer, alongside of Eva Chen and Bryanboy.

Sul fronte dei singoli mercati, preoccupano Russia e Cina. La Federazione russa deve fare i conti con le sanzioni internazionali, con il rublo super svalutato e con il prezzo del petrolio sottocosto. Di conseguenza, i retailer minori chiudono o navigano in

Se Mercury per allineare i prezzi ha ridotto il proprio mark up di qualche punto, altri non reputano sostenibile questa politica al ribasso. «I cartellini non possono essere gli stessi, almeno fino a quando i listini non saranno abbassati» dice Mikhail Kusnirovich, patron del Bosco di Ciliegi a Mosca.

«Abbiamo chiuso il 2015 con una flessione del 15% in euro - prosegue Kusnirovich e per il 2016 manterremo gli stessi budget perché per fortuna continua a crescere lo shopping dei cinesi, che ormai rappresenta il 40% del fatturato del nostro department store Gum». Hong Kong invece sta soffrendo non solo per i provvedimenti anti-corruzione, e quindi anti-lusso, presi dal governo cinese, ma anche per il taglio drastico dei visti: i cinesi adesso possono andare nell’ex colonia britannica solo una volta al mese.

«Se per anni abbiamo incrementato a doppia cifra il giro d’affari, adesso stiamo perdendo con lo stesso ritmo - ammette David Hong, co-chairman di The Swank Shop a Hong Kong -. Nemmeno nella mainland va bene: abbiamo chiuso i nostri negozi in Cina, che forse riapriremo nel 2017. I budget li ridurremo tra il 10% e il 20%».

Neanche in Medio Oriente la situazione è delle migliori. er la prima volta il salone leader nei pellami Lineapelle - di scena a Rho dal 23 al 25 febbraio - si è aperto con un’animata conferenza stampa, a cui hanno partecipato oltre ai vertici di Unic, Carlo Capasa, presidente della Camera della Moda, Riccardo Monti, presidente dell’Ice e Cristina Tajani, assessore alla moda del Comune di Milano: un segnale forte di sinergia. Gianni Russo, presidente di Unic, non ha nascosto che il momento di mercato presenta alcune incertezze, con aree che soffrono o crescono meno del previsto, ma ha sottolineato che «il settore della concia italiana è forte». Inoltre il Governo è ora più attento al comparto: grazie al lavoro del Mise e di Ice, le istituzioni sono diventate dei «compagni di viaggio autorevoli» nel promuovere le industrie italiane della concia. Riccardo Monti non si è fatto sfuggire l’assist, affermando che quello della pelle è un pezzo fondamentale dell’eco-sistema della moda, nell’ambito del quale «si continuerà a lavorare con grande coesione».

Carlo Capasa ha ricordato il legame strettissimo e il rapporto diretto della Camera con Lineapelle. Insieme si lavora, ad esempio, al tavolo aperto sul tema della sostenibilità, finalizzato a fissare le linee guida per l’industria italiana della moda, che rappresenta il 41% del fatturato lordo del settore in Europa. «Un primato di cui dovremmo sempre tenere conto - ha concluso Capasa -. In generale, dovremmo imparare a raccontarci meglio». Tutti d’accordo dunque nel fare sistema e dare continuità al tavolo istituito dall’ex vice Ministro Calenda e ora guidato dal sottosegretario Scalfarotto. Soffrono Federazione Russa (-15%), Usa (-25,23%) e zona euro (-25%), ma avanzano aree come il Regno Unito (+18,37%). Corre il Far East, con la Corea che segna quasi +51%. Il fatturato ha raggiunto i 40 milioni di euro nel 2015, in crescita del 14% sul 2014 (anno record, in cui l’incremento era stato del 25%). «È un importante punto di arrivo per il marchio - spiega l’imprenditore -. Una vetrina fondamentale per una linea che vende per l’88% all’estero dove, tra l’altro, pensiamo di avere le maggiori opportunità di sviluppo». Ma non si tratta dell’unico progetto retail dell’azienda cesenate. «Entro fine anno apriremo un monomarca dedicato a Gabs Franco Gabbrielli (altra label del gruppo, insieme a Campomaggi e Caterina Lucchi, ndr) in una via del centro di Milano in sintonia con lo spirito colorato, giocoso e divertente di questa linea di borse-quasi oggetti di design, che è stata un caso di successo nel mondo della pelletteria negli ultimi anni, grazie alla collaborazione con Franco Gabbrielli, avviata dieci anni fa». Dopo aver concretizzato il progetto corner, con 25 opening nel 2015 e altri 30 previsti nell’anno in corso, per Gabs Franco Gabbrielli è arrivato dunque il momento di pensare al monomarca: un test per poi aprire altri punti vendita, sia diretti che in franchising. Un piano d’espansione focalizzato in primis sull’Italia ma che potrà avere successivamente anche esiti all’estero. Per Caterina Lucchi, marchio di borse esclusivamente donna, si è lavorato nelle ultime stagioni soprattutto sull’identità e sul posizionamento, con la consapevolezza del grande potenziale distributivo e commerciale, ancora in parte inespresso, di questa proposta, attualmente venduta per il 75% all’estero, ma con un forte appeal anche sulle boutique italiane. «Siamo nella condizione di concentrarci sull’identità dei nostri marchi e sui nostri valori. Facciamo cose che ci piacciono e questo dà un valore aggiunto di autenticità al prodotto», commenta Marco Campomaggi. (e.a.)

Dopo una prima capsule, è pronta sulla rampa di lancio la versione al femminile di Esemplare, brand di outerwear uomo acquisito nel 2014 dalla torinese Pattern. Un’altra freccia all’arco per il brand, impegnato a ridisegnare la sua geografia distributiva con l’approccio di nuovi mercati e la riqualificazione della rete wholesale, composta da 200 multimarca. «L’ingresso di Pattern - spiega il direttore generale Luca Sburlati - ha coinciso con il rinnovamento dello stile maschile, affidato ad Alessandro Pungetti, e il via all’internazionalizzazione, con l’approccio di Stati Uniti, Far East e Giappone, dove abbiamo stipulato un accordo con Lidea». Prossimo step, il rafforzamento del Vecchio Continente (già presidiato con Germania, Spagna e Regno Unito), attraverso lo sbarco in Scandinavia, Francia e Est Europa.

The women’s and men’s bag brand Campomaggi opened several days ago at number 5 via della Spiga in Milan, which was previously home to a Brunello Cucinelli shop. The stores’ 50 square meters condenses the philosophy of the brand and its creator, Marco Campomaggi, who, with his wife Caterina Lucchi, leads a rapidly expanding leather goods group. Its turnover reached 40 million euro in 2015, up 14% on 2014 (a record year, in which there was an increase of 25%). «It is an important milestone for the brand - says the entrepreneur - . An essential showcase for a line that sells 88% abroad, where we also believe we have greater opportunities for development».

But this is not the Cesena-based company’s only retail project. «By the end of the year, we will open a flagship store dedicated to Gabs Franco Gabbrielli (another of the group’s labels, along with Campomaggi and Caterina Lucchi, Ed.) in a street in central Milan, in keeping with the colourful, playful and fun spirit of this line of bags - almost design objects - which has been a success in the world of leather goods in recent years, thanks to the ten-year-long collaboration with Franco Gabrielli». After the realization of the corner project, with 25 openings in 2015 and 30 more expected this year, the time came for Gabs Franco Gabrielli to think about a flagship store: a test with a view to then opening other outlets, both direct and franchise. The expansion plan was primarily focused on Italy, but it could subsequently make inroads abroad. In recent seasons, Caterina Lucchi, a women’s bag brand, has been working especially on its identity and positioning, with the knowledge of the great, only partially realized, distribution and commercial potential of its range, 75% of which is currently sold abroad, though it also has a strong appeal in Italian boutiques. «We are in a position to focus on the identity of our brands and our values. We do things that we like and this gives added authenticity to our products», comments Marco Campomaggi.

After presenting a capsule, the women’s version of Esemplare, a brand focused on men’s outerwear, acquired in 2014 by the Turin-based company Pattern, is ready to be launched. This marks another step forward for the brand, which is committed to redesigning its geographical distribution by approaching new markets and redeveloping its wholesale network, which currently consists of 200 multi-brand stores. «Pattern’s entry - says general director Luca Sburlati - coincides with the renewal of its masculine style, entrusted to Alessandro Pungetti, and increasing internationalization, as it approaches the US, the Far East and Japan, where we have signed an agreement with Lidea». The next step is reinforcing its presence in Europe (the brand is already present in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom), by expanding to Scandinavia, France and Eastern Europe. Meanwhile, the brand continues with the second edition of the competition for young designers: Pattern will select three finalists, who will be awarded at Pitti Uomo.

Il jeans couture conquista il Giappone Con all’attivo un monomarca a Tokyo, nel quartiere di Roppongi Hill, nel giro di poco tempo Jacob Cohën, come spiega il direttore marketing e commerciale Marco Tiburzi, «è diventato un vero e proprio oggetto di culto in Giappone». Tanto che a breve si concretizzeranno altri due iniziative in loco, con l’apertura di un monomarca a Osaka, presso l’Herbis Plaza, previsto per fine marzo, e di una seconda vetrina nella capitale, al via all’interno di un nuovo department store a Ginza nel febbraio 2017.

«Stiamo lavorando anche a un progetto speciale a Forte dei Marmi, che andrà in porto per l’autunno 2016», anticipa il manager spostando l’attenzione sull’Italia, presidiata attualmente da un punto vendita a Taormina e attraverso 400 boutique wholesale. Progetti che andranno a consolidare la presenza retail del luxury denimwear a livello internazionale, che conta anche un avamposto a Doha (nel Pearl of Qatar Center) e sei store in Europa.

Grandi manovre anche sul fronte dell’offerta, che sta progressivamente facendo sempre più spazio alla donna: «La collezione femminile - conferma Tiburzi - è oggetto di un progetto di riposizionamento, sia stilistico che distributivo. Couture jeans conquer Japan With a store in Tokyo’s Roppongi Hills district, in a very short time Jacob Cohën has become, in the words of the brand’s marketing and sales manager Marco Tiburzi, «a truly cult object in Japan». So much so that soon two initiatives will be launched in the area, with the opening of a flagship store in Herbis Plaza in Osaka, scheduled for the end of March, and a second showcase in the capital, within a new department store in Ginza in February 2017. «We’re also working on a special project in Forte dei Marmi, which will be completed in autumn 2016» the manager reveals, shifting the focus to Italy, where the brand is currently sold in a store in Taormina and in 400 wholesale boutiques.

These projects will consolidate the international retail presence of the luxury denimwear brand, which also has an outpost in Doha (in the Pearl of Qatar Center) and six stores in Europe. The brand is also making changes to its range, which is gradually placing greater emphasis on womenswear: «The women’s collection - Tiburzi comments - is the subject of a repositioning project, both in terms of style and distribution. Currently it accounts for 18%, but we are investing. The goal is to account for 30-35% within the next two years».

Womenswear alla riscossa. E con la capsule “archive”, lane in primo piano Lanciato verso un posizionamento sempre più alto, il womenswear di Woolrich rappresenta il 60% del giro di affari worldwide della label, forte di un assortimento ricco di proposte. Una pluralità di spunti enfatizzati da una mostra fotografica, dedicata alla donna nell’iconografia del marchio, on show nella showroom di via Lombardini a Milano, durante Milano Moda Donna. Un roadtrip lungo 15 anni, attraverso le interpretazioni di fotografi come Larry Fink, Bill Owens e Bernard Plossu, che rende il senso della centralità delle proposte per il pubblico femminile. Un concetto ribadito dalla collezione per il prossimo inverno, articolata in più temi. Al dna della label si riallaccia la capsule Archive, che riprende i pattern, le lane e i modelli dell’archivio storico del mill originale, nato in Pennsylvania nel 1830. Un progetto che si estende anche alle serie delle coperte realizzate nel mill, in vendita dal prossimo inverno, e destinato ad ampliarsi con nuove merceologie. Sul versante della tecnologia Teton, l’etichetta storica di Woolrich creata negli anni Settanta per l’omonima collezione outdoor tecnica, si attualizza grazie alla collaborazione con Gore, il cui laminato è stato scelto per l’iconico Gtx Mountain Parka. Nella main collection il Military Parka, profilato di pelliccia dalla base della chiusura fino al cappuccio, si rinnova con la variante in volpe argentata. Al contrario l’Arctic Parka, emblema della storia di Woolrich, si presenta nella soluzione no fur, più leggero con l’imbottitura in piuma 90/10. (c.me.)

Orientated towards an increasingly high-end target market, Woolrich’s womenswear division accounts for 60% of the brand’s global revenue, having been bolstered by a wide product range. There were a whole host of creative ideas in the spotlight at Woolrich’s showroom in Via Lombardini in Milan for Milan Women’s Fashion Week, while a photography exhibition emphasised the role of women in the brand’s history. Delving back through 15 years of collections, the photographs of artists such as Larry Fink, Bill Owens and Bernard Plossu put Woolrich’s womenswear creations at the centre of the brand’s existence. This is reflected in the upcoming winter collection, which features a number of different themes. The Archive capsule collection taps into the DNA of the brand, drawing inspiration from the patterns, wools and garments stored in the historic archive of the original mill, which was founded in Pennsylvania in 1830. A project that also includes the series of blankets produced in the mill, on sale from next winter, and set to grow with new product categories. On the technological side of things Teton - the label created by Woolrich for its hi-tech outdoor collection - is brought up to date via a collaboration with Gore, whose laminate is used for the iconic Gtx Mountain Parka. In the main collection, the Military Parka, which features fur profiling from the bottom part to the hood, gets a new makeover thanks to the silver fox version. Meanwhile, the Arctic Parka is featured here for the first time in a no fur version, which is lighter than ever thanks to 90/10 down lining.

Un’azienda famigliare, nata nel 1962, apre un nuovo capitolo grazie ai figli dei fondatori, Vincenzo, Giulia e Orsola Bocchi, che facendo della propria complementarietà un punto di forza scommettono sul brand di moda femminile Goodmatch. «Ho deciso di far tesoro della mia esperienza a Londra, nel settore finanziario - spiega Vincenzo Bocchi - per dedicarmi a questo progetto. Dividersi i compiti con le mie sorelle è stato facile: io general manager, Giulia stilista e Orsola responsabile della produzione». Goodmatch non è una linea all’esordio: è già distribuita in circa 250 negozi, soprattutto in Nord Italia. Ma con l’inverno 2016/2017 fa un salto di qualità: più attenzione alla moda e alla ricerca sui materiali, con il punto fermo della produzione 100% made in Italy, per rafforzare la presenza in Italia e iniziare un’espansione all’estero. A family company, born in 1962, opens a new chapter of its story thanks to the founders’ siblings, Vincenzo, Giulia and Orsola Bocchi: three complementary personalities for one women’s brand, Goodmatch. «I decided to treasure my working experience in London, in the financial sector - Vincenzo Bocchi explains to focus on this project. It was easy to divide the responsibilities of the business: me as a general manager, Giulia as the designer and Orsola in charge of the production».

100% made in Italy, Goodmatch is not at its debut: it is already distributed in about 250 stores, mostly in Northern Italy. But starting from fall-winter 2016/2017 it goes one step beyond: more attention to fashion contents and more research on materials. The goal is to strengthen the presence in Italy and start an expansion abroad.

Pronta per crescere all’estero Nata come una costola del menswear, la donna di Altea ha messo il turbo nelle ultime stagioni, entrando di diritto nella sfera del total look con la collezione del prossimo inverno. E varcando la soglia di importanti realtà del retail come Brian & Barry e The Store a Milano. Una proposta in cui la maglieria abdica al ruolo di protagonista indiscussa per fare posto a cappotti in mohair, gonne e vestiti ispirati alle tele di Mondrian, pantaloni dalle linee fluide, gilet in mohair, maxi cardigan e mantelle agugliate. Una linea in cui domina un mood pittorico, con disegni grafici e pennellate mai troppo decise, micro fantasie riprese dagli archivi e piccoli motivi floreali.

Un percorso stilistico che segna la maturazione di Elena Frigerio, in cabina di regia all’ufficio stile. «Una proposta che oggi rappresenta il 25% circa del giro di affari dell’azienda, attestatosi sui 30 milioni di euro», racconta Stefano Corbella, direttore commerciale estero del brand milanese. «Un gusto che piace anche fuori dall’Italia - prosegue - dove oggi è realizzato il 50% del giro di affari della linea femminile». Una percentuale destinata a crescere, in seguito ai recenti deal. «Abbiamo appena siglato un accordo con la fashion agency Claudia May per la Germania, mercato dove abbiamo già acquisito 23 nuovi clienti spiega -. E dal prossimo autunno-inverno approderemo nel department store Hyundai in Corea». (c.me.)

Ready to grow abroad Born out of the menswear collection, Altea womenswear has accelerated in recent seasons, rightfully entering the realm of the total look, with its collection for next winter. And crossing the threshold of important retailers such as Brian & Barry and The Store in Milan. Knitwear abdicates as the undisputed star to make way for mohair coats, skirts and dresses inspired

by Mondrian paintings, trousers with fluid lines, mohair gilets, maxi cardigans and needled capes. The line is dominated by a pictorial mood, with graphic designs and brushstrokes that are never too bold, micro patterns from the archives and small floral patterns. A stylistic path that demonstrates Elena Frigerio’s progress in the control room of the style office. “This line represents about 25% of the company’s turnover, which totals around 30 million euro,” says Stefano Corbella, foreign sales director of the Milanese brand. “It is also popular outside Italy,” he continues, “which currently accounts for 50% of the turnover from the womenswear line.” A percentage that is destined to grow, following recent deals. “We have just signed an agreement with the fashion agency Claudia May for Germany, a market in which we have already acquired 23 new customers,” Corbella remarks. “And from next autumn-winter, we will land in the Hyundai department store in Korea.”

Pop Bag by J&C

In arrivo un monomarca per le borse trasformiste La Pop Bag by J&C si reinventa nelle versioni più piccole, tanto gettonate in questo momento.

Mini, baby e micro: sono tre i nuovi formati in cui è stata presentata allo scorso Mipel la borsa di J&C Jackyceline, realizzati in ecopelle effetto metal e in glitter. La Pop Bag è il cavallo di battaglia del direttore creativo del brand, Sara Lin, imprenditrice cinese trapiantata dall’infanzia a Firenze, dove ha sede l’azienda. È il frutto di un brevetto registrato che le permette di cambiare forma, grazie a cinque parti combinabili. Una proposta destinata a diventare una vera e propria famiglia, a cui Sara Lin vuole dare una “casa” dedicata, che andrà ad aggiungersi al monomarca di via Guicciardini, a Firenze, e ai dieci monobrand in Cina, tra Shanghai e Taiwan. Un progetto che si concretizzerà nei prossimi giorni, anche se Sara Lin vuole mantenere top secret la location e la data.

Mono-brand store imminent for the transformable bags

The Pop Bag by J&C will be available also in smaller versions, in line with current trends. Mini, baby and micro were the three new formats of the J&C Jackyceline bag in metallic eco-leather and glitter unveiled at the most recent edition of Mipel. The Pop Bag is a battle horse for creative director Sara Lin, the Chinese businesswoman who has been living in Florence - where the company is based - since she was a child. The secret is a patented system that allows to change the shape of the bag thanks to five combinable parts. The range is destined to become a fully fledged family of bags - and Sara Lin knows every family needs its own home. The new store will join the mono-brand store in Florence’s via Guicciardini and a further ten mono-brand stores in Shanghai and Taiwan. The project will come to fruition in the next days, though for now Sara Lin is keeping schtum as to the location and launch data. The brand - which boasts a distribution network of around 500 multi-brand stores plus the store.jandc.eu e-shop - has a turnover of €6.5m, 35% of which is generated abroad, in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Parole d’ordine: estero e retail

Gli States e la SErie A per comunicare il brand

Dopo un’assenza di otto anni, Malloni è tornato nel calendario della fashion week milanese, annunciando importanti novità. Distribuita per l’80% sul mercato domestico e attiva, oltre che nel canale wholesale, con monomarca a Firenze, Roma e Milano, ora la label marchigiana è impegnata a consolidare le proprie posizioni in Italia e a piazzare le prime pedine oltrefrontiera. «Qualche settimana fa racconta la designer Floriana Orsetto - abbiamo aperto un negozio a Venezia e inaugurato una showroom a Parigi, nel Marais, che farà da piattaforma per l’espansione del marchio fuori dai confini nazionali».

Come ribadisce la stilista, da qui ai prossimi cinque anni gli sforzi saranno convogliati nell’individuare le aree estere più strategiche per lo sviluppo di Malloni: «Prima tappa l’Europa, con Londra e Parigi, dove siamo già alla ricerca della giusta location». Lo store di Venezia farà da apripista anche al lancio del nuovo layout dei monomarca, firmato dalla seconda generazione della famiglia, Lorenzo Malloni, 26 anni, architetto, che dopo svariate esperienze all’estero è tornato in azienda anche con un nuovo progetto: Malloni Trace, un inedito concept store aperto a Porto Sant’Elpidio, adiacente al factory store, che riunisce moda, design ed entertainment. AT.P.CO - marchio che fa capo alla Golden Season di Erbusco (Bs) - sta ristrutturando la sua immagine, nell’ottica di trasmettere un concetto di casual chic “dalle 8 alle 20”. Lo si percepisce nella collezione donna, che con l’autunnoinverno 2016/2017 prende ispirazione dagli stili di tre diverse città americane: Los Angeles (nella foto), San Francisco e Seattle. «Stiamo investendo nella ricerca stilistica - racconta il direttore comunicazione e marketing Lodovico Minelli - con un ufficio stile dedicato che, di fatto, è raddoppiato dalla primavera-estate 2016». L’idea è quella di riequilibrare i pesi tra collezioni maschili e femminili, dal momento che a oggi il womenswear rappresenta circa il 30% dei ricavi totali e che riscuote sempre più consensi, come rileva l’azienda dal trend nei negozi monomarca (a oggi sette, in totale). Il mood del menswear sarà invece comunicato attraverso un fotoreportage che coinvolge alcuni giocatori del Genoa, il club che dallo scorso novembre è sponsorizzato da AT.P.CO. «Abbiamo scelto questa squadra - spiega Minelli - perché è la più antica d’Italia ed è simpatica un po’ a tutti». Inoltre il brand si prepara al lancio di capsule collection, uomo e donna, che «coinvolgano artisti e creativi di fama internazionale». Sul fronte retail è ormai imminente l’apertura di un monomarca a Ischia, cui seguiranno altri opening nella seconda metà del 2016 nelle città italiane e all’estero, «a partire dalla Francia». (e.f.)

It’s certainly a look that shines through in the autumn-winter 2016/17 women’s collection, which draws inspiration from the styles of three different American cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. «We’re investing in stylistic research - states communications and marketing director Lodovico Minelli - with a dedicated style office that we’ve doubled in size from spring-summer 2016 season».

The idea is to even up the balance between the men’s and women’s collections, given that womenswear currently represents 30% of AT.P.CO’s total revenue and is generating increasingly widespread success, according to sales results from the brand’s seven mono-brand stores. This season’s menswear concept will be channelled via a photography campaign involving several players from Genoa football club, which has been sponsored by AT.P.CO since last November.

«We chose Genoa - explains Minelli - because it is the oldest club in Italy and everyone has a bit of a soft spot for it». Moreover, the brand is preparing to launch two capsule collections - for men and for women- «which will involve internationally renowned artists and creatives».On the retail front, the opening of a monobrand store in Ischia is imminent, with further openings to follow in the second half of 2016 in Italy and abroad, «starting with France».

After an eight-year absence, Malloni is back on the Milan fashion week schedule with some significant new developments. With 80% of its distribution accounted for by the domestic market through wholesale channels and mono-brand stores in Florence, Rome and Milan, the Marches-based company is working hard to consolidate its position in Italy while laying its first stones down overseas. «A few weeks ago - explains designer Floriana Orsetto - we opened a store in Venice and launched a showroom in the Le Marais district of Paris. That will serve as a platform for the expansion of our brand beyond the Italian border». Orsetto also states that for the next five years the brand’s efforts will be invested into identifying the most strategically important countries for Malloni’s overseas development: «The first stage is Europe with London and Paris, where we’re already seeking out the right locations». The Venice store, meanwhile, heralds the launch of the new Malloni monobrand store layout, which was designed by 26-year-old architect Lorenzo Malloni, the second generation of the Malloni family. After a host of experiences abroad, the young Malloni has returned to the family company with a brand-new project by the name of Malloni Trace, a fresh concept store open adjacent to the factory store in Porto Sant’Elpidio. A fusion of fashion, design and entertainment, it represents a format that could soon be replicated elsewhere.

Gossip, the parent company of the Antonelli Firenze brand, was founded in 1950 (initially under the name Vicad) by Luciano Antonelli and produced linen. opo il successo della prima edizione che, a fronte di una previsione di 70 partecipanti, ha costretto gli organizzatori a cambiare location per ben due volte per arrivare ad accoglierne 320, ritorna il 18 aprile a Lugano “ECommerce meets Fashion in the Ticino Fashion Valley 2016”, il convegno organizzato dall’associazione Netcomm Suisse sull’attualissimo tema della rivoluzione digitale nella moda. «Riscontriamo un forte interesse da parte delle aziende internazionali presenti in Ticino su questo argomento: molte di loro stanno avendo una crescita a doppia cifra nelle vendite online - spiega Carlo Terreni, direttore generale di Netcomm Suisse -. How can the organizational structure of the company be changed to fully seize the opportunities arising from the new sales channel and the interaction between the various channels? Sabrina Ferrari, an industrious Modenaborn designer, spent ten years in London with her family where her husband was based and many ideas came to her from observing the city and its inhabitants. After returning to Modena, she decided to design and develop a line of woollen hats and then a line of bags. Thus the beautiful bags seen at White were created: the New York, Pink Lady, Sienna and Soft Bauletto handbags.

For the tenth anniversary of Es’Givien, La Rinascente Duomo in Milan dedicated a showcase to the brand, born from the collaboration between the Verona sisters Gaia, Nives and Vivilla Zampini.

A collection based on the concept of scuba, that for next winter plays with new volumes and surfaces, making use of innovative fibers, fabrics and experimental processes and unpublished techniques. What has not changed are the production made in Italy and the series of “thoughts”: positive text messages included in each item, related to the theme of the collection.

The Venetian shirt brand Xacus is undertaking many projects in 2016, the year in which it celebrates its sixtieth anniversary.

The brand is opening its first flagship store and enhancing its women’s line, with Aldo Guglielminotti in charge of the style office.

It all started on a vacation at a French ski resort, when Alessandra asked her husband if he would support her in a new design adventure, after having been a womenswear buyer for years for the Spinazzé family’s Venetian group of shops. Her husband agreed and the Alessandra Chamonix collection began with a feminine interpretation of the parka - it is now in its fourth season and is continuing to grow.

Conturbanti, misteriose, grintose, giocose, raffinate, vintage: ogni montatura ha una personalità. Come i tanti che le amano, pronti a cambiarle anche a seconda degli stati d’animo o dei momenti della giornata. Per necessità o divertimento, per nascondersi o attrarre l’attenzione su di sé. Un vero boom, numeri alla mano: nel 2015 l’occhialeria italiana ha realizzato 3,6 miliardi di euro di ricavi (fonte: Anfao), in aumento a due cifre sul 2014, trainati dall’export (+12%). Ma c’è spazio un po’ per tutti: gli italiani hanno acquistato più made in Italy (+5,7%) ma anche brand stranieri (+14,9% l’import).

Le 52mila presenze allo scorso Mido confermano la tendenza.

oda e bellezza: due facce della stessa medaglia. Un dato interessante è osservare il comportamento generale delle fashion house verso la “quota beauty”, composta principalmente dal reparto “alcolico” (profumi e linee “ancillari”) e, per alcune, anche da make up e skincare.

L’elemento che balza all’attenzione non è legato al prodotto, ma al marketing: è sempre più attiva collaborazione con il mondo web e, in particolar modo, con le influencer più quotate. Una tendenza evidenziata da una ricerca del Fashion and Beauty Monitor sui mercati britannico e statunitense (rispettivamente al primo e quarto posto nel ranking dei Paesi con maggior numero di lanci a chiusura del 2014, dati GNPD), secondo cui gli investimenti sia della moda che della bellezza dedicati alle blogger più

autorevoli aumenteranno del 59% solo nel 2016. A conferma, basti pensare all’italiana Chiara Ferragni, con più di cinque milioni di follower su Instagram che, oltre alla cooperazioni con brand di moda come, tra gli altri, Louis Vuitton e Max Mara, ottiene ora anche il ruolo di testimonial beauty come nuova ambasciatrice globale di Pantène, marchio di haircare del gruppo P&G. Ma anche alla parigina Kristina Bazan, con le sue interpretazioni delle fragranze della maison Thierry Mugler, che conta più di due milioni di sostenitori. E, ancora, a Negin Mirsalehi, olandese da quasi tre milioni di follower, che annovera partecipazioni con marchi come Dolce&Gabbana e Valentino e che ha appena lanciato un suo brand di haircare Gisou (vedi approfondimento nelle pagine

successive). Il beauty traina e supera il fashion in termini di crescita percentuale del livello di pressione pubblicitaria, ossia il rapporto tra i consumi di cosmetici e gli investimenti in pubblicità. Infatti le case di moda (e non solo), che per la creazione di campagne pubblicitarie girano veri e propri film, non solo spingono gli investimenti in televisione, che toccano in generale i 350 milioni di euro, ma puntano lo sguardo ancora verso il web, il cui dato complessivo di investimenti ormai vola oltre i 18 milioni di euro, ben il 4% sul totale, di cui il 23% dedicato alle fragranze (dati Cosmetica Italia). Un indice destinato ad aumentare, anche a causa del crescente costo degli spazi pubblicitari nella realtà (sempre meno) virtuale.



Con un peso pari al 6,1% del business complessivo del marchio, cresce il comparto fragranze di Salvatore Ferragamo. La maison punta su un nuovo volto e una nuova campagna, My life is a play, per la neonata fragranza, audace ed elegante. Nel suo nome un universo ben definito: Signorina Misteriosa è interpretata dalla top model Grace Hartzel, che incarna le tre personalità di Signorina (l’Eau de Parfum, Eleganza e il brand new Misteriosa). Lo spot, un vero film di quattro minuti (declinato poi i spot singoli da 15, 30 e 60 secondi) vede alla regia Sebastian Grousset e alla fotografia Pawel Edelman. Il risultato è una celebrazione dello stile della maison, caratterizzato dal total look firmato Salvatore Ferragamo.

Alla richiesta di essenze di nicchia ad alto grado di creatività risponde Jo Malone London, marchio di Estée Lauder, creando una collezione ultra esclusiva con Rare Teas Cologne, sei profumi ispirati ai sei tè più rari. «Uno degli elementi di maggiore fascino del progetto è stato poter generare più fragranze da un unico ingrediente, il tè» sottolinea Céline Roux, fragrance director della maison.

«Massima importanza alla tecnica di produzione, riprendendo l’antico processo di infusione», precisa Serge Majoullier, maître parfumeur. Anche il design scardina le cifre della maison sia nella bottiglia, celebrazione della purezza del contenuto, che nel formato lussuoso da 175ml.

Fashion and beauty: the feeling runs (also) on web

Fashion and beauty: two sides of the same coin. It’s fascinating to observe the behaviour of fashion houses towards the beauty sector, made up mainly of alcoholbased products (perfumes and ancillary lines) and, in some people’s eyes, also makeup and skincare, with an increasingly active collaboration with Internet - particularly with the most popular influencers around.

It’s a trend demonstrated by research carried out by the Fashion and Beauty Monitor on the British and American markets (first and fourth place respectively in the ranking of countries with the biggest number of launches in 2014), according to

NEW CAMPAIGN, PERFUME and FACE Accounting for 6.1% of the brand’s overall revenue, Salvatore Ferragamo’s fragrances are growing. The brand has brought in a new face and launched the new My Life is a Play campaign for its daring, elegant new fragrance. Signorina Misteriosa is played by top model Grace Hartzel, who embodies the Signorina’s three personalities: Eau de Parfum, Eleganza and the brand-new Misteriosa. The advert - more of a full-blown film at four minutes in length (split into single adverts of 15, 30 and 60 seconds) - is the work of a big-hitting duo, made of director Sebastian Grousset and photographer Pawel Edelman. The result is a celebration of Salvatore Ferragamo’s signature total-look style.

Jo Malone London, an Estée Lauder brand, is rising to the demand for niche, creative fragrances, with the exclusive Rare Teas Cologne collection, which features six fragrances inspired by six rare fine teas. «One of the most fascinating parts of creating these fragrances was the fact we were concocting several scents from one ingredient, tea» explains Céline Roux, the brand’s fragrance director. «We gave importance to the techniques used to produce the fragrances and went back to the process of infusion» adds Serge Majoullier, master perfumer. The design goes against the typical characteristics of the brand, both in the shape of the bottle, and in the ultra-luxurious 175ml format.

Chiara Ferragni, who has over 5 million followers on Instagram, cooperates with fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton and Max Mara, but has also become new global beauty ambassador for Pantene (P&G group). Then there’s Parisian Kristina Bazan, whose videos for Thierry Mugler fragrances have earned her more than 2 million followers.

And, from Holland, Negin Mirsalehi, who collaborates with brands such as Dolce&Gabbana and Valentino and has launched her own haircare brand, Gisou (discover more on the next page). The fashion houses, that for their advertising campaigns create true movies, not only push the TV investments, but also those on web, where the total investiments have risen to €18m - around 4% of the total figure -, with 23% accounted for by fragrances (according to Cosmetica Italia figures).

The trend will go on, also as a result of the growing cost of advertising space on traditional media channels.

fair is increasingly winning over foreign brands too, to the extent that 75% of the exhibiting companies hail from overseas,” explains Duccio Campagnoli, the president of BolognaFiere. The upcoming event, which will take place in Bologna between 18 and 21 March, will for the first time see the participation of the Ministry for Economic Development alongside BolognaFiere and Cosmetica Italia. It’s a natural partnership, if you consider that global revenue from the cosmetics industry is equal to €9.7bn, of which €3.7bn generated by exports.

That represents a 10.5% increase on the 2014 figure and 9% growth on the industry’s performance in 2015. The fair represents a great opportunity to forge networks between exhibitors and distributors. «Thanks to the International Buyer Program, B2B meetings are being organised according to production level and distributional demand compatibility criteria» explains SoGeCos managing director Dino Tavazzi. Such meetings are expected to increase in number, given the 5% rise in exhibitor numbers, with over 600 international buyers and distributors also attending.

BEAUTY UPCOMING TRENDS It’s worth checking out the Cosmoprof Wellness section, a place where wellbeing centres, spas and hotels can meet with cosmetics producers and bespoke equipment manufacturers, thanks to the

Spa Matching Program. Natural cosmetics, another big area of focus, has grown by 22.15%. «Another concept linked to green cosmetics - underlines Tavazzi - is the Halal Beauty Care & Spa area, which is dedicated to “halal” cosmetics (i.e. products whose ingredients and production processes are in line with Islamic law) and has registered an annual increase of 12%, rising to 19% in GCC countries».

It is a concept whose offer adheres to organic certification requirements such as those of Cosmos, Ecocert, Bdih and Icea.

Men’s cosmetics also have an important role to play: «Global revenue from the men’s cosmetics industry has reached around €120bn and represents 30% of the global beauty market - explains Fabio Rossello, the president of Cosmetica Italia -. New players are coming into view, such as Millennials (people born between the beginning of the 1980s and the early 2000s), who have a keen eye for price, innovation, performance and packaging» he adds. We’re talking about highly tech-literate, aware consumers who are looking for multi-functional, personalised projects and are not loyal to any one brand: «Multi-functional, highly effective cosmetics (the more natural, the better) will drive the next wave of development in the make-up and skin-care industry. The fragrance market will still be able to appeal to customer emotions, by bringing out exclusive, innovative products, with ‘brand (f.b.) ■ new’ molecules».

Se è vero che il mascara ha superato le vendite del rossetto nel 2015, il trend pare non fermarsi neppure nell’anno in corso. D’altronde, si sta parlando di quello che è un oggetto irrinunciabile del make up. The Dutch, Italian and British markets are also strong. «U

no stilista può sposare o rifiutare l’heritage della griffe per cui lavora. Io ho scelto di ispirarmi alla storia di Agnona, reinterpretandola con uno spirito attuale». Simon Holloway riassume il senso della sua “mission” (non impossible!) per il brand italiano, di cui ha preso di recente il timone creativo, uscendo allo scoperto con l’autunno-inverno 2016/2017. Un percorso di evoluzione, come lo definisce lui, che segna uno stacco con le ultime collezioni, disegnate da Stefano Pilati. Meno avanguardia e più attenzione al dna di un marchio la cui storia riporta al 1953, quando nacque l’azienda, rilevata dal gruppo Zegna nel 1999. «Mi sono riallacciato allo spirito couture della griffe, rileggendolo con punto di vista attuale e con un forte accento sull'artigianalità». Il percorso è partito dai tessuti, da sempre fiore all'occhiello di Agnona, risultato dell'impiego di fibre e filati nobili, la cui massima espressione sono gli iconici double in cashmere.

«Punta di diamante della collezione è il platino jersey - racconta Holloway -. Un jersey di cashmere lavorato a taglio vivo, molto leggero e molto moderno nella resa, che esprime al meglio le sue peculiarità nei jogging pant e negli sweater con lamé». Per la donna di Agnona, Holloway ha creato silhouette fluttuanti, accarezzate da tessuti preziosi, declinati in una palette cromatica fatta dei colori delicati del make up, accesi da punte di rosso intenso. «Una storia che esprime

La collaborazione con Agnona è una sfida importante per lo stilista angloamericano che, a parte la recente liaison con Hogan, vanta nel suo curriculum collaborazioni con numerosi brand d’oltreconfine. Per lui è tempo di una full immersion nell’Italian lifestyle. «Da sempre lavoro con aziende italiane ma questa esperienza per me è nuova e molto stimolante. Un confronto con un universo in cui i valori di qualità, lusso e innovazione sono al primo posto. Un vero privilegio».

The liaison with Agnona will be a major challenge for the Anglo-American designer who, apart from the recent liaison with Hogan, boasts previous collaborations with a diverse range of nonItalian brands. Lanvin: Bouchra Jarrar prende il posto di Elbaz

Bouchra Jarrar è stata nominata direttore creativo della linea donna di Lanvin. La designer ha fatto il suo ingresso nella maison lo scorso 14 marzo e inizierà a lavorare sulla collezione primavera-estate 2017, che segnerà il suo debutto. Jarrar, classe 1970, prima di lanciare il suo marchio nel 2010 ha lavorato a lungo per Balenciaga al fianco di Nicolas Ghesquière. Per sedere sulla poltrona di direttore creativo della maison più antica di Francia, occupata per 14 anni e fino allo scorso ottobre da Alber Elbaz, la Jarrar avrebbe avuto la meglio su di una serie di candidati tra cui Simone Rochas, Erdem Moralioglu e, addirittura, Stefano Pilati.

Bouchra Jarrar has been named creative director of women’s collections at Lanvin. Her first collection for the house is expected to be set for spring/summer 2017. The French designer replaces Alber Elbaz, former artistic director of Lanvin, who left the company in October 2015 after a 14-year period. While Elbaz oversaw both men’s and women’s collections for the house, Jarrar will only oversee the company’s women’s offering.

Jarrar, 45, founded her label in 2010 and before worked for a long time at Balenciaga with Nicolas Ghesquière. According to market reports, Lanvin’s management also considered Simone Rocha, Stefano Pilati and Erdem Moralioglu for the position.

I Pinco Pallino, childrenswear brand part of the private equity firm Lunar Capital, has appointed Antonio Cossu as its new ceo.

Before joining the children’s fashion brand, the manager worked for the Italian branches of Petit Bateau, Pernod Ricard, and Lactalis, and also did a stint at Crédit Agricole Indosuez. He is taking over from Giovanni del Vecchio, who will remain as an operating partner with the equity firm.

Lahrs lascia, Hugo Boss a caccia di un nuovo ceo L’amministratore delegato di Hugo Boss, Claus-Dietrich Lahrs, ha lasciato il suo incarico dopo otto anni alla guida della casa di moda tedesca. Dimissioni (su cui è stato raggiunto un accordo amichevole tra le parti) sono arrivate dopo che il gruppo ha ridotto le stime di fatturato e utile operativo sul 2016. Hugo Boss ha già iniziato a cercare il successore di Lahrs, che in passato ha guidato marchi come Chanel e Victoria’s Secret.

Nel frattempo Bernd Hake entrerà nel board con responsabilità per le vendite e il retail (attualmente è senior vice president Emea). Gli altri incarichi di Lahrs saranno assegnati provvisoriamente agli altri membri del managing board del gruppo, di cui la famiglia Marzotto è il primo azionista.

Cozzani cfo di Prada The ceo of Hugo Boss, Claus-Dietrich Lahrs, has left his post after eight years at the helm of the German fashion house. His resignation came after the group reduced its estimated turnover and operating profit for 2016. Hugo Boss has already begun to look for a successor to Lahrs, who previously led brands like Chanel and Victoria’s Secret. In the meantime, Bernd Hake will join the board as head of sales and retail (he is currently senior vice president of EMEA). Lahrs’ other duties will be provisionally assigned to other members of the group’s managing board - the Marzotto family is currently the largest shareholder.

Cosa ha significato per un grande gruppo come il vostro il lancio di una collezione alto di gamma come Desa Nineteenseventytwo? È una sfida importante, perché ci mette a confronto con i giganti della moda. Occorrono tutta la nostra passione, l’energia creativa e l’entusiasmo per creare la collezione.

Desa Nineteenseventytwo è nata con l’autunno/inverno 2014: quale il bilancio di queste prime stagioni?

Siamo soddisfatti perché il brand è posizionato nei migliori negozi ed è apprezzato dalle consumatrici più all’avanguardia. L’Italia, uno dei mercati più avanti nella moda, è stato il primo Paese a premiare la collezione, seguito a ruota da Giappone, Corea e Hong Kong.

Burak Celet is ceo and owner of Desa group, an important Turkish company in the leather goods industry, that was founded in 1972. Two years ago he entered the universe of high end fashion with a collection of bags named Desa Nineteenseventytwo Lei appartiene a una famiglia di imprenditori turchi che dal 1972 opera nel settore pellettiero: come è cambiato il modo di lavorare nel comparto?

Gli aspetti più importanti del nostro lavoro sono l’heritage e l’artigianalità, che noi stiamo ben attenti a preservare. La vera artigianalità è un valore che si sta perdendo, poiché le giovani generazioni sono meno inclini a lavorare in questo settore. In quest’ottica abbiamo avviato una collaborazione con il ministero dell’educazione per la messa a punto di un piano legato all’apprendistato. Un’iniziativa partita nove anni fa, che è riuscita a spingere molti giovani di talento a seguire le orme di esperti maestri.

Cosa vuol dire per lei avere alle spalle un gruppo così forte?

Oggi il mercato è saturo di marchi. È una vera sfida per le nuove realtà farsi strada. Occorrono alto livello di design, prodotti splendidi, marketing aggiornato, qualità unica e customer service impeccabile. Sicuramente è un vantaggio avere un gruppo forte alle spalle, una realtà totalmente verticalizzata, che controlla tutti gli aspetti della creazione e della produzione, dalla tintura al prodotto finito, fino alla distribuzione.

Quale la filosofia della collezione e quale la fascia prezzi?

Sono articoli senza tempo, espressione di un lusso understated che ambisce all’unicità, pur rifuggendo da eccessive decorazioni. Il posizionamento prezzi, tra i 450 e i 900 euro retail con punte di 4mila per le pelli esotiche, è eccellente, considerate la qualità e il valore dei prodotti che proponiamo.

Quale il mood delle proposte per il prossimo inverno?

Forte di una vasta gamma di proposte, la collezione si caratterizza per un’offerta moderna e d’impatto. Ispirate liberamente al mondo equestre e all’universo sportivo, le borse rivolgono grande attenzione ai dettagli come cuciture a sella, manici dalle forme importanti e tracolle di gusto sportivo, senza tradire le linee pulite e l’estetica architettonica tipica del marchio.

In quante vetrine è distribuita la label?

Siamo distribuiti in oltre 50 negozi. Nomi come Excelsior, LuisaViaRoma, Tessabit, L’Inde le Palais, Lazzari, Donna Bugatti, Dell’Oglio, Takashimaya, Harvey Nichols HK. Quanto fattura il marchio?

Il gruppo fattura oltre 70 milioni di euro e Desa Nineteenseventytwo è ancora una bambina, a confronto.

Avete in mente nuove iniziative o progetti di brand extension?

Guardiamo con molta attenzione al mercato statunitense e al canale online. Due leve importanti per la crescita del brand.

An event in the Miroglio-Piazza della Scala store celebrated 30 years of Elena Mirò, sealed by a capsule inspired by three floral subjects of photographer Gian Paolo Barbieri. During the evening the limited edition book “Fiori” was launched: a collection of 46 shots of the photographer.

Prismick Denim, a capsule collection of stylist Camille Seydoux for Roger Vivier, on sale from this month, was celebrated during Paris fashion week.
