guess I love Italy for its unique blend of my two greatest passions - fashion and traveling. CITY GUIDE SUMMERTIME “Summertime, and the living is easy...” Summer is the season of happiness par excellence for the outdoor lifestyle, holidays and a desire for leisure. The not to be missed occasions to live purely free moments in Milan are everywhere. Moreover, there will be interesting previews on the women’s collections that will be presented in Pitti W. This will be anticipated by Milano Moda Uomo (from the 21st to the 25th of June, Milan), a mainstream event dedicated to high male fashion. In the Lombard capital, as always, during the week dedicated to men’s style, the schedule is full of runway shows from the most important designers, Italian and international, and also the ones from emerging designers. Crazy Horse is the symbol of Cabaret in Paris. Topless dancers and good music. Now, for the first time in history, the staff of the renowned French theatre will land in Italy to present one of the most unique and suggestive shows. Arriving at the Teatro Nuovo in Milan the “Forever Crazy” show celebrates the historical local myth and in particular, its creator, Alain Bernardin. He had the inspiration, in 1951, to unite the beauty of bodies and the sinuous movements of professional dancers, with the elegance and sophistication of light games, until then never seen in a cabaret theatre. The show that will be on stage at Teatro Nuovo in Milan from the 2nd to the 6th, and again from the 8th until the 12th of July, is surely incredible. It’s a sort of “the best of ” the pieces created throughout the history of Crazy Horse, but in Milan, just two steps from Duomo, a hundred steps more south from the streets that made this French cabaret famous all around the world. teatronuovo.it

The ancient, spectacular Roman theatre of this Venetian city is traditionally the home for many Opera Festivals. The lyrical appointment is renewed this year: up until the 7th of September. There are over 50 dates, with 6 different Opera titles and 3 exceptional evening events. Not to be missed is the new set up of “Un Ballo in Maschera”. This title of Verdi’s creation is brought on stage by the direction of M° Pier Luigi Pizzi, directing the Orchestra of the Arena the M° Andrea Battistoni. The other interesting show is “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, offered to us by Franco Zeffirelli and director Henrik Nánási. The “Aida” of Giuseppe Verdi, is revived after the success of last year in two different set ups. One in the futuristic staging created by the Catalan team La Fura dels Baus; and the second in the traditional version by Gianfranco de Bosio. Do you prefer other Operas? There is plenty to choose from. On the calendar we see the “Turandot” and the “Madame Butterfly” by Puccini, directed by Franco Ziffirelli. Another special evening sees Plácido Domingo singing Verdi, then the ballet, together with Roberto Bolle and Friends. COLLISIONI FROM THE 18TH TO THE 21ST OF JULY | BAROLO Spend your summer in the vineyards! In Barolo, wine Mecca of the Piedmont, we find Collisioni, a literature and rock music festival on the hills. From the 18th to the 21st of July, there is a rich programme of shows with international writers, TV stars, music icons and movie stars, along with internationally famous bands. Among the tastiest names in the musical industry, to open the festival, Friday 18th of July, there will be the legendary group Deep Purple. The English band, led by Ian Gillan, has an Italian date of 2014. Saturday 19th of July we’ll see on stage Elisa, one of the most original voices in the Italian music industry. An appointment absolutely not to be missed is the one with the amazing rock icon, Neil Young. The Canadian singer/ songwriter will perform for the first time in Piedmont for the closing of the festival, on Monday 21st of July, together with the band The Crazy Horse, for his only date in Italy. The concerts will take place in the principal square of the town, a theatre surrounded by historical vineyards of the Barolo wine district. You are the president of the Italian Chamber of Buyers, what is the “mission” of the association?

We want to promote throughout Italy and around the world the best of the independent Italian distributions in the fashion industry. This is a unique reality that has no equal on an international level by capillarity and quality. This is one of many examples of our country’s excellence. You have launched The Best Shops project…

The Best Shops is a symbol of quality that since 2008 identifies its stores with the Chamber of Buyers. This is a sign of designation for the 100 best Italian shop windows, synonymous with seriousness, competence and services of

places, from the art galleries to the museums, arriving at the most lively districts such as Navigli and Brera and, the last born, the pole of Ventura Lambrate and the 5Vie.

3. THE EXPO 2015? It will represent the biggest occasion to the revival of Milan. I truly hope that it can be taken advantage of it to the fullest.

Fashion is evolution. In each season different brands influence trends and it is impossible to choose one. For youngsters, I finally see Italian names growing in a significant way: Fausto Puglisi, Marco De Vincenzo, MSGM, and N21, Stella Jean. It’s a good sign of renewed vitality. Museum of 900

high quality. This is a warranty for producing companies, as much as for the final clients. As the owner of the Sugar di Arezzo boutique you choose the garments for your clients. What is the secret to make the right choice?

Fashion is by nature a gamble. The certainty of doing the right thing I don’t think it can exist, but sensitivity and experience helps. Now the industry has transformed, making the management of a store much more complex and difficult. You have to think in entrepreneurial terms, sometimes nearly scientific in relation with companies, in purchases and with clients. Any advice?

The important thing is to continue to be guided by poetry and emotions. It is essential to update, trying to capture and re-elaborate the enormous flow of information that the web offers. Even the smallest store now must look at the world to be inspired, readjusting the message to its own context. The term Glocal (Global+Local) summarizes very well this perspective.

Italian Fashion, what makes it unique?

Simple. It’s the ‘Made in Italy’ image which is united by our creativity. Luxury products are achieved only here and the supply chain is an asset that has to be defended because it sustains the system from the foundation up. Losing it would do great damage. It would also reflect on our capacity to create style. What are the elements that make an impeccable men’s style?

Knowing how to be elegant without necessarily being too classic; being eccentric without being extremely extravagant. The right equilibrium between tradition and modernity, and keeping good taste without losing the will to distinguish oneself from the crowd.

The Ticinese district is one of the youngest areas of the city that takes its name from one of the oldest doors. This street has a wonderful environment, especially in summer because it’s a nightlife hub. In the middle of the street there are the San Lorenzo columns, one of the most picturesque and well known places in Milan. TASCA This welcoming Spanish bar and restaurant is just in front of le Colonne di San Lorenzo. It’s a place with a special atmosphere, exposed brick walls, dark wooden furniture and beautiful chandeliers. It presents a wide selection of wines and the classic Milanese aperitif is served with a platter of cold meats, olives and bruschetta, while the dinner menù offers tapas and traditional Spanish dishes. It is also ideal as a meeting point for after dinner drinks.

FRIP Opened in 1994, Frip is the first alternative concept store in Italy and the first shop importing brands from Scandinavia and England; such as Acne, AnnSofie Back, Marios, Henrik Vibskov and many more. To stay up-to-date the store also offers a wide selection of international magazines. Frip also has a children’s section with a really trendy profile, offering brands like Acne Mini, Kids Case, Tuss, Dou Dou and many more. It’s the right place for a unique wardrobe.

CAVALLI E NASTRI Cavalli e Nastri is a historical luxury vintage boutique founded by Claudia Jesi. The store carries clothing and accessories from the 1920s up to the styles of today, and a selection that comes from stores and markets all over the world. Here you are immersed in a unique atmosphere where the clothes seems to come out of the wardrobes of Audrey Hepburn or Sofia Loren, with a wide range of designer pieces that include Chanel jewelry, Hermès scarves, and Borsalino hats. It’s worth a visit!


THE COLUMNS OF SAN LORENZO In the Ticinese district there is an area of ancient Rome remaining. The columns of San Lorenzo, an antique medieval building, were transported to their current position around the fourth century to complete the Basilica of San Lorenzo. It is considered one of the few surviving relics of the imperial Milan. Over the years it has become a gathering place for young people. As soon as the weather warms up everyone comes to enjoy the summer in the shade of Emperor Constantine’s design.

GUM Gum owes its name to the grease used in America during the fifties. The ambiance is composed of highly sought after vintage pieces, classic leather barber chairs, and mirrors taken from the theaters backstage of the 30’s and brick walls. It has become a reference point for photographers, make up artists and fashion editors.

FRAV This young and alternative store has minimalistic clothes and a Nordic style. The shop has several brands, but they also have their own, F.R.A.V.. It was born with the meeting of young designers united in the aim of experimenting and defining their own style. The research of this shop doesn’t only extend to the clothing but also to the accessories, the music and visual arts. All these elements characterize this store as one where every detail is studied and constantly updated.

aetitia Casta is peaceful and beautiful. Peacefully beautiful. Even though lately she has had some shocks in her private life. She was in a relationship with Italian actor Stefano Accorsi and it has finished. Laetitia has recently acted in an Italian movie, Una donna per amica. “I interpret a girl that lives idealizing love, but in her relationships she had to go through many disappointments and she is now afraid to commit.”

Has it been personal?

My life and my experiences have surely helped me to enter the part; it has many similarities with me. But the theme is about how to be able to accept that you can share and feel certain emotions for someone that might not be the love of your life. Is friendship between a man and a woman possible?

Yes, I truly think it exists. Friends also offer comfort. How does it feel when a love relationship ends?

I give myself completely, so then I suffer. When a love story with an important person ends you have to grow and get back in the game. It is hurtful but you have to get up again. Growing means this as well; it means learning and dealing with the discomfort. After dealing with the discomfort, what plans do you have for the future?

I am fine now. I won’t be alone forever. I know I will get married. But I want to grow old and be alive. I always want fire in my eyes.

French women have a recognizable sex appeal here… To be honest, Italian men are the ones who like French women; so much that women feel obliged to reciprocate! Your family are Corsican natives, in the past from a Ligurian island. Do you feel slightly Italian?

I feel close to Italians. My great-grandmother was from Tuscany, her name was Zelinda. When I was a child I loved her because she was warm and generous. I always felt to have some Italian blood, for this reason. Italian’s have the capacity to ignite, to explode, and I have this. I love using hand gestures to express the energy I have inside. Do you miss your 100% fashion life?

Today film making is what I love most. On the screen I’m no longer a photograph, a still image, I am alive. You don’t feel alive in the photographs?

There is an infinite number of beautiful women. The difference between them is not having a blank expression. My teacher, the important photographer Dominique Isserman, always told me this. When I entered the fashion industry at 15 years old she took care of my education. Yves Saint Laurent, was one of the other biggest meetings of my life and my career. They made me read, and they talked to me. People think that being a model means only staying still and being photographed, but it isn’t like this. Cinema has become my biggest love. I wanted to be an actress. I happened to fall in the fashion industry, but now I am recuperating. Laetitia Maria Laure Casta

Born in Pont-Audemer, in Normandy, she started working as a model when she was about 15 years old after being discovered by a photographer in Corsica, her father’s island, while she was on holiday. Quickly

she became a top model, called by the most important Maisons and became the off icial spokesperson for important brands such as, L’ Oréal and Dolce&Gabbana. She posed for more than 100 magazine cover pages, becoming the pupil of famous stylist Yves St. Laurent. In 1999 she became the model for the Marianne bust, the symbol of the French Republic. She made her cinema debut with “Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar”, and is the feminine presence for the Sanremo Festival. In subsequent years she returned to France, where she kept alternating her modeling career with her acting career. In 2001 she gave birth to Sahteen, her f irst born child, a daughter with her boyfriend Stéphane Sednaoui, a French f ilm director and photographer. Two years later a relationship with the Italian actor Stefano Accorsi began, however, they are no longer together. Today she dedicates most of her time to the cinema. FASHIONANDBEAUTY . IT

The first thing you should pay attention to is the sandals by Dolce & Gabbana. They are reminiscent of those worn by the Ancient Greek gods of Olympus.

Finally the warm weather has arrived and as with every season the trends and guidelines to follow are many. But, what seems to be the most important this summer is a set of essentials and eccentricity, important details in minimal clothing, a whispered elegance that emphasizes that it’s all about conf idence and power. The designers have become the creative genius, combining distinctive features of fashion culture with an urban contemporary vibe. IRVING PENN RESONANCE An exhibition not to be missed is the one about Irving Penn at Palazzo Grassi in Venice. One of the greatest fashion photographers of the ‘90s, whose work has been the protagonists of the most famous fashion covers, has an entire exhibition dedicated to him. Do not miss it!

omantic femininity gradually replaces masculine style which broke the list of leading trends. Thus the S/S fashion week shows began with tender buds coming into bloom on the transparent white shirts and dresses with elegant 3D truss prints creating light pixie dresses. The organic fusion of f loristry and fashion became the most prominent merging of the spring, and it hasn’t failed to please. For a long time the S/S season was accompanied by f loral prints - small and large, bright and pastel. Flora has been interpreted in different ways. Finally designers got the ball rolling and added some volume to their f lowers – they launched a 3D technology and, according to the f irst results, it works great.

This spring delicate f ield pansies were blooming at the Giambattista Valli show. The Maison is famous for its love of f lora, but their latest season was dedicated to monochrome and minimalistic looks. Marchesa couldn’t resist the trend as well – original f loral applications are on top of the Maison’s dream-like collection including intricate embroidery, the f inest silk, vintage lace, light organza and pastel tints. Meet the boudoir style of the Victorian era in a modern interpretation. Antonio Marras and Erdem have presented their black and white spring collections, but it doesn’t make them ordinary. Some designers draw attention to the volumes of sequins in embroidery, while others focus on beads and more sophisticated designs. Dries Van Note, for instance, decided to avoid extensive flower print and accentuate the waist with only one massive bud made of pleated flounce. Such flowers flutter in motion like real butterflies.

This season designers have presented their wildest fantasies and original solutions using 3D applications. Their shapes varying from classical to futuristic ones. Perhaps the most striking examples can be found among the sporty looks by Marni, whose dresses, shirts and tops are reminiscent of origami f lowers; the feminine dresses by Dolce&Gabbana with their blossoming Japanese gardens; the lovely outf its by Alberta Ferretti decorated with self-colored roses; and the airy f lowers by Blumarine.

were powered with the mix of transparent, matt and shiny textures and prominent f loral applications. The plant kingdom went beyond the outf its as the models’ heads were adorned with the bright green leaves of tropical plants. Erdem Moralioglu also used black and white to create his feminine collection – all outf its were decorated with f lowers made by airy fabrics and light feathers. Burberry Prorsum has launched its own bouquet. Here pastel perforated skirts with plastic f lowers and large sequins

run the show. Young brand’s MSGM designers strengthened the traditional mix of bright colors and light girlish shapes with a riot of Hawaiian flowers. Christopher Kane used a scientif ic approach to the f lora issue combining the fashion trend with a general education program. His collection sheds light on pistils and stamens in a very virtuosic manner. Choosing between a f ield of cornf lower bouquets and gorgeous rosebuds, you would be better to get both. Having begun her c areer at OM magazine, she continued working for the Gala and Atmosphere magazines. In 2007 Kseniya became Tatler’s Beauty Director, and in 2010 she was appointed to the position of Editor-in-chief.

Your journalism career started in OM magazine – the iconic edition of the 90s. Was it an interesting start? Do you use your experience, techniques and connections which you got there in your present activity?

It was an amazing time - time of great opportunities. Nobody in Russia could do fashion magazines then. Imagine: you are 20, you are a 3rd year student of the Journalism Faculty, and you hardly have any writing experience, just a dozen term papers and a couple of notes for a tennis edition. Then you are proposed to handle the whole column and such a greenhorn becomes responsible for the real wordsmiths as Otar Kushanashvili, Slava Kuritsyn and Natasha Medvedeva. In OM we all studied under the guidance of Igor Grigoriev, who was as keen on journalism back in those days as he is keen on music now. Then, when I was 22, I was invited to be an editor in Gala magazine’s beauty department, and our Moscow team went to Paris for the internship. You should have seen the faces of our French colleagues. In the West the same positions have been conquered for years, or even decades. Fashion and beauty editors were well maintained, skinny, stylish women of 50, and they didn’t

seem to give up until retirement. We had to explain that Moscow is such a strange young city. However, a lot has changed since then. The industry is growing up, and so is the staff. Now you have to start from the bottom to make a career in a glossy mag. Everything goes as it has to go. I’ve noticed that you don’t have any editor’s blog/column on tatler.ru. Being a professional editor, what is your attitude towards the blogosphere? Is there any challenge from bloggers?

That’s true. I don’t keep a blog on the official site because I do not have time for long regular statements. But I personally manage our editorial Instagram microblog with a great pleasure. That’s why there are not only the new issue’s ads, backstage photo-shoots and reports from fashion weeks, the Cannes Film Festival and other social events, but also my personal pics. For instance, you can see me doing Pilates or cooking borsch. Sometimes people even ask me to send them recipes and I gladly share. However, I never download pics of my children. I have a son and a daughter. I don’t want to get «likes» at their expense and teach them an undeserved fame. As for the blogosphere, it’s useless to argue whether it’s good or bad

as soon as it’s our new reality. The most important thing is to extract something useful in this whole under-generated content. Lots of people think that everyone can be a fashion blogger. It all started in my sight. A crowd of enthusiasts with cameras looking for well dressed young ladies was standing in the Tuileries Garden, where the Paris fashion shows take place. From season to season we saw more and more cameras, and ladies’ clothes on the shows became brighter. Little by little, girls began to change clothes a hundred times a day, before each show, and bloggers were carefully monitoring these changes. It all turned into a game. Bloggers know that ladies dress up for them and pretend to be talking on the phone (to make a look prettier) or spinning around for the skirt to f lutter in a more photogenic way. That’s incredibly curious. But sometimes there is incompetence, ignorance of basic fashion laws and lack of personal style behind a beautiful picture. However, on the other hand, the growing fashion blogosphere is a good challenge for the conservative fashion industry. Now we have to invent new formats, go broader and deeper, although it’s useless to overtake the bloggers in speed. In general, it keeps us going. >

For the autumn-winter season 2014/15, her faded and distressed tiger-print cape is a surefire standout, as are the steel ribs on her blue mohair sweater, the 3-ply woolen beehives and the rough-cut bouclé gauzed to create a chenille effect. Two sweaters are featured among her new best-sellers: the pulldog, with its heat-soldered dog pattern and the pullcat, with its inlaid cat print.

IRENE SALVADORINI

Has a totally different hallmark style, having created her brand Lmtd in 2012, inspired by shy and imperfect smiles, buttons that do not close and overly long hems, as well as Lou Doillon and KateMoss. Lmtd’s creative universe sways between rigour and transgression, between timeless designs and conceptual creations. A stylistic existentialism composed of minimalist, colorless lines, retro prints and see-through fabrics for a groomed and feminine overall look, peppered with literary and cosmopolitan references and always nodding towards men’s fashion. Skirts, trousers, coats, blouses and dresses, all meticulously planned, cut and sewn in Italy with top-of-the-range fabrics. Having grown out of her own shyness, she loves short stories, changes of season, Karl Lagerfeld and the poetry of Caproni. Writing about ballet is as pointless as dancing about architecture. But the influence of ballet in the fashion industry can’t be left behind as it has given us a special kind of shoe called ballet flats

t is difficult to point to an exact time when the ballet f lats first occured. According to some historians ballet f lats were first derived from Josephine’s favorite f lat silk or velvet slippers, while the others argue that the American designer Salvatore Ferragamo was the first to create them. There is a grain of truth in all points of view, but an allegory with pointes stays crystal clear. Repetto is arguably the most famous manufacturer of ballet shoes. The company’s history started in 1947, when its founder Rose Repetto designed comfortable pointes for her son Roland, who yet again came home from dance rehearsal with grazed feet. The young artist was very pleased with the shoes and advised his friends and colleagues to buy a pair for themselves. Soon the young brand was stormed by customers. An idea to manufacture ballerines came to Rose when starry Brigitte Bardot, being a former dancer, asked Madame Repetto to make a pair of up-to-date ballet shoes for the “And God Created Woman” filming. An exclusive “Cendrillon” model became incredibly popular.

The sneaker features the comfort and convenience of a sports shoe, but at the same time they give the look a super fashionable detail, especially if they are very colorful! The monochrome models are more elegant and easy to match, even in the case of strong colors, the high ones tend to slender the foot and the silhouette. Many famous brands of footwear and clothing never miss the chance to present several models in their collections.

The first sneakers appeared in 1900 as shoes suitable to play sports in and used only for this purpose. Only in the 70’s and 80’s did the trainers become an important part of the wardrobe of men, women and children as an everyday comfortable and relaxed shoe. Over a hundred years ago it was unthinkable to wear sneakers out of sporting practice and now we’ve become used to wearing them even in the more elegant evenings! Fashion, as we know, is always changing and we never know what it will bring back to us.

And, fashion being fashion, trends often change from year to year and from season to season. But one thing that never goes out of fashion is make-up that’s flawless and, most importantly, sun-resistant, to protect your skin and preserve your beauty.

Here are a few incredibly simple tips to make the most of your water-resistant make-up and protect your skin with the right products.

1. Never Forget! It’s currently difficult to find a hundred percent waterproof make-up. Indeed, though it is becoming increasingly widespread, its hold is never particularly long. As such, it still needs touch-ups throughout the day, though admittedly not as often as ordinary make-up. Never leave your mascara or eyeliner at home – even if it’s waterproof, you’ll still want it with you! 2. Perfect Skin To achieve that “sun-kissed” complexion, you are recommended to apply a moisturizing cream with sun protection to your face and another to the eye- and lip-contours. Forget liquid or semi-liquid foundations which are better-suited to the winter, and favor compact or mineral powder foundations which adhere better to your facial skin and

ajan Tolomei is one of the most famous make-up artists in Italy. Make-up artist, designer and Italian Ambassador of Max Factor, in his job he creates and anticipates the seasons to come. Between the marine shades and romantic looks, excessive femininity and androgen moods, let’s discover what the make-up for this summer will be. Rajan, how will our look during the summer season change?

It will def initely be characterized by color: f luorescent orange, hot pink, indigo and lime green are the trendy colors. Lips will sometimes be natural and satiny, and at other times there will be bright and sensual lipsticks: geranium red, fuchsia, neon orange and bordeaux for the most daring. Tell us something about yourself. How did you start working in this industry? When did you meet with Max Factor?

After a long experience as a model, which saw me traveling all around the world and capturing all the different countries shades, I decided to devote myself to

feminine beauty. With Max Factor I started working in the perfumery as an “apprentice”. Then, after a few years I devoted myself entirely to fashion, to runways, to photo shoots and to the creation of image. Acknowledgments, compliments and a lot of studying have pushed me to continue and to develop my knowledge with courses, internships, and updates around the world until one day I came back to the company that I have always loved: Max Factor.

We will use the primer, the highlighter, the light concealer (of the last generation). Then we will abandon everything that is heavy, such as the green, purple and orange concealers. Abandon the lip pencil or the beige/white lipsticks. Let’s use satin and creamy lipsticks leaving out the pearled ones. Last question. If you were to define next summer by choosing only chromatic shades and textures, which ones would you choose?

I would say that the most fascinating textures are the satin/opaque ones with points of light cleverly positioned.

I would avoid too much pearl and gloss since it is more indicated for very young girls. The shades would be: marine (light blue, indigo, copper-gold), vitamin (neon orange, brown, hazelnut, yellow gold), romantic (purple, fuchsia, irisè gold) and mysterious (grey, black, night blue). In short, a summer overflowing with color.

HOT TIPS

This summer we will use satin and creamy lipsticks and we will abandon the pearled ones.

The concept of femininity changes continuously: from very skinny women to curvy ones, from extreme femininity to androgyny. In the same way, how has make-up changed in regards to the new feminine image?

Make-up adapts to the perception that women have of themselves, being much freer and subjective, it plays with fashion and styles.

The make-up will be vintage, with a remembrance of pink shades, grandmother’s trunks and the traditional values; or to the technological, choosing the glossy, the vinyl, the eye-liner and graph-isms; or strong, with dark eyebrows, thick, skin and pants as a tomboy. FASHIONANDBEAUTY . IT

So, what is your beauty secret?

There is no secret. I just regularly take care of my skin. Every day I make a beauty ritual in my bathroom, devoting about an hour to myself – 1015 minutes are not enough! And I advise everyone to follow my lead! In the morning, when looking at the mirror, tell yourself: «How pretty am I!»- that’s a good start to the day. The other important thing is to use aroma products with essential oils. Using them properly will benef it your health. They eliminate skin problems, excrete toxins and help to avoid stress. Don’t hurry applying aroma creams to your face, enjoy the process, inhale its pleasant scent, feel the cream penetrating into your skin, «pushing out» wrinkles, restoring tone and elasticity. Cleansing must be the basis of your skincare. For example, I never go to bed with make-up on. An obligatory evening program includes using a skin cleansing milk and a tonic. It’s important to use a hommage and a mask once a week (you should choose it according to the needs of your skin - moisturizing one for the dry skin, a restorative one to cope with a skin situation, etc.).

I know that you advise to use a hommage for the sensitive skin even with acne and rashes on the face.But it contradicts the basic «laws» of skincare.

No, it doesn’t. Decléor collection offers some special products developed for such cases. For example, there is a mask for oily skin which turns into a hommage after application. It cleanses your skin perfectly without hurting it. The result is awesome. Clean glowing skin and a signif icant reduction of rashes are guaranteed. And what about aging? What products should be used foremost?

Wrinkles don’t mean anything if you are full of energy. The most important thing is to smile all the time and love yourself. Aging can be beautiful. t is not a secret that every woman dreams of f launting the perfect body. A proper diet and a sporty lifestyle certainly help to emphasize your body’s advantages and to get rid of some disadvantages. But what to do when these methods are not enough, and the derriere is still insufficiently rounded for the vision one may hold for themselves? Plastic surgeon Massimiliano Brambilla believes that whatever the case may be there’s no use in spoiling your summer by being fearful to appear at the beach in a bathing suit. There is help and it’s much easier than you’ve thought!


Massimiliano, what can we do? Summer is almost here and we are short of time for any changes.

The answer depends on many factors. First of all, patient and surgeon need to clarify what the problem is. Sometimes the problem is the shape of the buttock, sometimes the elasticity of the skin, sometimes cellulite. Secondly is important to understand what result a patient wants to get. Then a specific solution can be found. What do your clients usually ask you to fix?

Most of my patients want to make the buttocks curvy. Some of them have already a beautiful B side that simply needs a small improvement through simple filling “push up” technique. Some of them need more volume because of a very flat buttock, others need to tighten the skin that has lost elasticity, others need to sculpture the body in order to emphasize the gluteal region. As I often tell my clients, our body is a frame and the buttock is a picture, so the content should emphasize the framing. And what methods do you use to emphasize the framing?

Procedures are different according to the specific problem: 1. Buttocks with indistinct outlines 2. Buttocks with sagging skin 3. Flat “lost” buttocks In order to make the buttocks curvy, we can use one of the three very different methods: filling the buttocks with silicone implants, lipofilling (transplantation of your own adipose tissue from one area of the body to another) and the injection of hyaluronic acid (Macrolane). Improving the shape with silicone implant is the one surgeons like the least. It takes a lot of time to recover after the operation, and the complication rate is high. Lipofilling has replaced this technique. It’s about using the patient’s own adipose instead of silicone implant. Firstly I performe a liposuction through special small cannulas of a certain amount of fat tissue, than the fat is purified and grafted in the gluteal region. So not only you get a well-shaped buttock, but get rid of unwanted volume elsewhere as well. To achieve a perfect result, it is important to handle the body’s adipose tissue properly. The technique that I use was developed together with Biologists, and it allows you to inject even huge amounts of tissue,

preserving living cells (especially stem cells). It results in at least 50 % of fat cell survival, i.e. entering 200 cubic centimeters of adipose leads to 100cc remaining in the body. In other words lipofilling includes two procedures - liposuction and buttocks volume increase? What are the healing rates?

Yes, it’s two-in-one. Lipofilling involves using a local anesthesia plus sedation, or a real anesthesia for a patient who doesn’t want to remember anything. After this operation special stockings should be worn for a few weeks. In this case any mild discomfort can be easily thrown off using painkillers. Is it the same technique used in breastenlargement surgery?

Yes, exactly. In many cases it can be a great alternative to silicone implants. One day I’ll tell you about this innovative technique. Can hyaluronic acid injection ease the action?

The Hyaluronic acid method, or Macrolane, is one of the most groundbreaking discoveries of recent times. This injection always gives great results. It is an ideal

solution for those who have a “deflated” butt or slightly drooping contours. Then your hips will gain the missing volume in just 30 minutes under local anesthesia, or Valium for the most timid. You can live a fulfilled life just in 2 or 3 days, as well as get a suntan. You want to say that getting a flawless Brazilian buttock takes only 30 minutes?

That sounds a bit fictional! Nevertheless, it’s true! Macrolane does not save up in your body but is gradually degraded as jaulonic acid injected for lips or lines. Scientific publications show that after a year there is approximately 50% of macrolane left in the tissues. That’s a good result. Basically, a lot of my female patients return after 6 months to prolong the injection’s effect. Is it true that there are special sutures that help lifting your buttocks?

Yes, it’s true. Such elements have long been used in cosmetic surgery. But elastic sutures and those with an innovative lifting system have recently appeared. They allow achieving better results and a long-lasting effect. Although using these sutures has some exceptions, the result is always stunning. Moreover, the whole maneuver is quick and easy. I often combine Macrolane with the lifting sutures. 30 minutes are enough to get the buttocks lifted with volume. One of my patients has called this method the “buttock augmentation at lunchtime”. She’s right.

I do not work as an interior designer, I do not make my living with it. However, for more than 15 years this has been the main occupation in my life. I’m sorry not to have started doing it before. I really like the entire process from start to finish. But the most enjoyable and exciting moment comes when a man or woman for whom our work is done is pleased with the interior, quality of work and intelligent decisions. In many cases a client is so satisfied and grateful that he/she is afraid to move a statuette from place to place for years so as not to spoil the interior which they are so keen on. That is real happiness for a designer to bring joy and life satisfaction for people in their dream house.

he house owned by Larissa Mysak and her husband Alexander Kozyuk is an hour away from Milan and five minutes from Stresa – the exact time for you to rise above the level of Lake Maggiore and see its best prospects. An old well-maintained villa is hidden among palms and rhododendrons, showing the translucency of its design pieces behind a glass terrace. Remodelling, searching for stylistic solutions and the finest Italian furniture suppliers took two years of effort to create this cozy, comfortable, while at the same time original and elegant, space for living and recreation.

The excitement of this and the other rooms lie in details, for example, in the table made of tiny mirror pieces, reflecting and spreading the light around it. This feature appears in some other interior items - mirrored lights which add a touch of modernity and lightness, mirrors, and glass vases. The bright, airy space is provided by the glass floor of the terrace. Such an interesting designer decision overlooks a small conservatory downstairs.

The old villa, transformed with your own hands, is located on Lake Maggiore. What determined this choice? It’s all due to the fantastic beauty of the lake with its islands and a lush garden with centenary blooming rhododendrons and azaleas.

The house has been finished recently and its owners have yet to settle in with their own history, joining together with children on sunny days to enjoy the comfort of family and the beauty of the lake. Having a cup of tea with Larissa we learned about

What does your ideal interior look like? For me “ideal” means suitable for the people who will live in it. It’s different for every single person. Due to the various styles one can choose the most appropriate to find peace of mind. And that’s important.

What role does home play in your life? For me and my family home should be livable, cozy, and easy to settle into. It’s a place you miss and don’t want to leave for a long time.

here is only one moment a year when Milan becomes particularly special. The industrious city of the north transforms itself into an animated and vivid place, where roads teem with people and stores change their look completely. This is the moment in which the Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone arrive. The theme chosen this year was, due to the arrival of the huge event of the EXPO 2015, “Feeding: nurture new ideas in the industry of furniture; a new conception of living”. During the Press Conference of Internals, the Design Week organizer, the theme was well expressed even by the art critic Philippe D’averio, who said that “design is a link between utopia and reality”, alluding with that to the extraordinary capacity that design has to finish and make possible conceptions of living that a few years back were only possible in the imagination of the artists’ minds. First of all the Fuorisalone. The pulsing heart and location of where these ideas and visions were synthesized is the Public University of Milan. Here small pavilions and installations have filled the university’s beautiful fourteenth century courtyards and have seen

busy architects and artists trying to make all this a reality; from the Escher stairs up to the mirrored paths of a futuristic world where the historical city breaks through and reflects through light telescopes. Then there are the institutional sites. The Brera Design District, where Fashion & Beauty attended by the Eponimo stand, which is a very interesting Italian brand. There were many noteworthy installations, such as the one by Lombardi Real Estate, in Corso Garibaldi, in the centre of the Milanese nightlife. It’s an incredible space full of flying fish and signed by the artist Annapaola Cibin. Then the Tortona district, near the subway station of Porta Genova, which also began to rediscover lost or forgotten places such as the botanical garden. In this angle of the rare beauty of the city, installations from the architect Piero Lissoni, that with his poetic gesture has not only made, once again, this beautiful city area accessible but has also allowed the quality to be appreciated. There was a small wooden pavilion created for only one concept: observation. The interior decoration was edited by Living and the prestigious pavements by Laminam have

completed and accompanied this light structure and gave it absolute elegance. A space that was equally important of the Fuorisalone is the Triennale. Here the reissue of the Design Museum allows admiring the biggest art pieces in design history, which are also flanked by recent creations. In this location was the space from the famous timepiece brand Citizen, that surprisingly invited one to follow through a labyrinth made of thousands of wrist watch boxes suspended in the air, and a video showing the history of the brand. In the Tortona district, the lowest common denominator has been the magical union between engineering and fantasy. For example? 3D printers that make vases and tools live, making possible forms that would be otherwise difficult to accomplish. Another significant space was the Peugeot showroom that offered a piano concert in an enormous space of multicolored lattice wires. For the more reflective, there is the installation by Michelangelo Pistoletto which is situated on the Superstudio Piu’s ceiling. The Rossana Orlandi space was a location of

quality craft and of “one-piece” design. Quite interesting was the presentation of machinery created especially by the artist to allow the shaping and creation of vases that are, in fact, unique. Finally one should consider the Lambrate area where we find exhibited an excellent selection of prestigious and original works of northern design. Apart from the Fuorisalone, an official exposition was held in the exhibition halls of the Rho fair. Of particular interest was the pavilion number 7 where the best of Italian design was exhibited, a stand of rare beauty. Other engaging areas were the Lema space, the furniture company was founded in 1977 by the Meroni family; the Porro stand, where beside all their products you could see perfect traditional novelties; and the Calligaris stand, which this year presented a collection completely made by young designers. Surely this was a successful and high quality event. An excellent way to fight back the crisis and to “nurture” the spirit and soul with new visions and a new way of living. FASHIONANDBEAUTY . IT

MULTISENSORY EXPERIENCES

Milan is emerging on the national and international scene as a true hotbed of art. With the opening of major exhibition centers, such as the Museum of the Twentieth Century, the forthcoming opening of Ansaldo and the renovation of Hangar Bicocca, the city has acquired important spaces dedicated to modern and contemporary art

W

e are concerned with the exhibition open until 20/07 in Hangar Bicocca, dedicated to the artist Ciro Meireles. The exhibition brings together nine of his works created between 1970 and today. The visitor is led to actively participate and interact with his works using practically all of the senses, starting from the observation of microscopic objects up to the walking on a path of broken glass, in which maintaining the equilibrium is a great task. It ends with a moment of meditation of a maritime landscape from a pier.

The true ability of Meireles consists not only in engaging the viewer but also in being able to accompany him in a journey within his own personal experiences. With his works he not only manages to intrigue us but also manages to move us with the discovery of our own new found artistic sensibility.

PAULO MENDES DA ROCHA

At the Triennale of Milan, one of the most important exhibition centers of Milan, the exhibition is dedicated to the Brazilian architect and winner of the 2006 Pritzker Prize. It will take place until 31/08. The work of the architect is remarkable, and his poetry can be considered as the connecting link between the severe Russian Constructivism and the sweetness of the Brazilian architecture, largely developed by Oscar Niemeyer. The exhibition illustrates the key stages of the successful career of the artist. Together with the photographs, a big space is given to the drawings, which represent an essential part of the process that begins from the mind of the architect and ends with the yard of a building. The exhibition is curated by Daniele Pisani, author of the first monography in Italian dedicated to Paulo Mendes Da Rocha. FASHIONANDBEAUTY . IT

A

t the registry office he is recorded as Francesco De Molfetta, but no one calls him that because he’s always simply been known as ‘Demo’. He doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink alcohol, and hates football, remaining focused on his art. He was born in 1979 and lives and works in Milan, where he received his artistic maturity, attended the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, while at the same time he graduated in theater direction. Since then he teaches laboratory and theatrical mime; has designed lamps/sculptures; and has made four short films (still in distribution) which won him the grand prize of the Ambrogino d’Oro, the famed Milanese prize, and a mention from critics regarding the work The River-Run. In theater he directed five plays, and gave his support to The Piccolo Teatro with Lamberto Pugelli. Besides all of this Francesco is also a talented sculptor.

Today it is said that everything has already been done, every subject has been addressed, explored and evaluated, however, he uses all of these as inspiration. His work draws from the known and the existent, from the icons and the symbols of his 80’s childhood. His art is play, laughter, and fun; and nobody plays and has fun like him. A scanned image, digested, saturated and born to a new life through his creativity, creating a spontaneous and synthetic way of communicating feelings and thoughts through these beautiful illusions.

Through his works the Italian artist makes us discover how many forms irony can take, and how powerful it can become. His theatrical installations, characters and actors are not distorted but enriched with a very lively irony. It is artistic “humor” in the best of tradition, that is inspired by the genius of Marcel Duchamp, Gino De Domenicis, Alighiero Boetti. The humor is a nice element and you can breathe the same fresh aesthetic style of the great Jeff Koons. In February 2014 Demo participated in the group exhibition “Woven Accents-One Love”, curated by Ginna Christensen MOCA Design Museum of Los Angeles.

I wrote “artist” on mine, but I’d rather prefer artisan.

What does it mean for a young man to pursue a career as an artist? In your case, what did it lead to?

It means many risks, many disappointments, and a lot of uncertainty, but it also means the consecration of a great love: love for art. You can see when there is a great passion behind a work. As children we dream of becoming singers, actors, and astronauts. What did you dream of becoming?

From mistakes and spending a lot of money in materials! This is the truth of things: schools do not teach the truth of a trade. You gradually discover it at your own risk and expense, and it’s very time consuming. I am sometimes amazed at what I do. It’s very important for me to love and to value the perfection of what I create, it is a prerequisite in my work.

Have you ever carried out designs on commission?

Of course, many times. I love to discuss the projects with the clients, it’s like doing a project with them. It stimulates me to think not only for myself but also to share the feelings with others, managing space and common themes to find the right meeting point.

~ The old city of Pitigliano seems to be out of the Brothers Grimm’s fairytales.

I

t seems unimaginable to think that, a long time ago, these places were full of malaria and were unproductive. The Tuscans, complaining about the unfavorable fortune, were wont to exclaim “Ungrateful Maremma!”. Here one became ill from the swampy land, and the earth seemed infertile and hard to work. It was the land of bandits and butteri, the Italian cowboys who herded the typical, thin local cattle on horseback. Then Maremma was reclaimed and it became the most unusual part of Tuscany, the beautiful one to be discovered. It is a place of tourism which is not to be missed. The high cuisine (many famous Tuscan wines come from these hills ), incredible panoramas, historic cities rich in the traces of history - Etruscan, Roman, medieval— and a fantastic inland and a sea which is clean and unbelievably blue. There are many reasons to venture forth into this piece of land in the south of Tuscany between the provinces of Livorno and Grosseto. In these unspoiled landscapes, dominated by vineyards and olive groves, time seems to pass by sweetly. The first stop on our quick voyage in the search for the spirit of the place was the elegant and peaceful Punta Ala. A seaside resort immersed in the greenery of the Mediterranean scrub, full of maritime pines, Punta Ala looks out onto an intensely blue sea and is perfect for those who love peace. There are a few hospitality locations; premier hotelsand private villas are surrounded by a scene that makes the respect of the land its most important characteristic. The beaches face the Mediterranean and are accessible by passing through the aromatic pine forests. Here one can taste fish dishes bathed in Vermentino and other noble white wines.

~ Sovana is made up of just two streets, but it is filled with incredible historical treasures.

The surprises continue a little further south. Moving a few kilometers down we f ind Castiglione della Pescaia, an ancient city resting on the hills which dominate long and unspoiled sandstone outcroppings in an area with incredible natural appeal: very f ine sand, reefs, and a small port for f ishing boats and yachts. The village maintains the image of an ancient f isherman’s town surrounded by a splendid pine forest. Many typical Italian trees are found on these hills. Pipes were made here, and olive oil and wine are still produced. An antique 14th century castle dominates the town. It is a medieval city that is surrounded by walls which allow you to enjoy the view of the gulf. Near Castiglione della Pescaia is the Natural Preserve of Diaccia Botrona, a damp swamp area called “padule”, by the local inhabitants. East of the town, adjacent to this preserve, is the Tenuta della Badiola wildlife preserve. In the 1700s it was the hunting estate of the noble Lorena family.

Proceeding southward we find Marina di Grosseto and Orbetello, an exposed peninsula facing the sea which is the home of a spectacular natural oasis. It was in fact an ancient Etruscan port which arose in a lagoon only 3 meters above sea level. Here, as at Marina di Capalbio, it is possible to go to the beach in uncrowded locations just a few steps away from the herds of Maremma wild horses and oxen. One can lose oneself on the many paths and admire the fauna and the splendid birds which come here to pass the winter. ~ White cows are the symbol of Maremma, countrysides around Sovana.

LIFESTYLE T RAVEL On another day, after a refreshing rest, one can visit the inland areas. Capalbio, for example, is a medieval citadel which is the haunt of Italian intellectuals. The restaurants serve wild boar and mushrooms cooked in Morellino di Scansano; outside, one can enjoy the splendid view of the coast. Moving inland, you can devote the day to the discovery of three cities in tufa, the typical soft volcanic stone of the area: Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana. Those with a bit more time should stop at the ancient baths of Saturnia which feature natural outdoor basins. We are now in the Fiora Valley, near Orvieto as the crow flies. Pitigliano takes the breath away. It is a jewel

in orange-brown stone whose majesty stands out after a long journey among the hills. In Pitigliano, founded even before the Etruscans, one can stroll through the alleys and the many artisanal shops among the color of the tufa stone and the smell of the chimneys. You will leave with a desire to come back, stimulated by the presence of the other pearls to be discovered in the 70 km wide area. Sorano, for example, is defined as the “Matera of Tuscany” for its many hillside buildings excavated from the tufa which recall the “sassi” stone buildings of the southern city. Its small center can be visited on foot, extended between the impressive raised fortress dating from the 14th century.

RIVA, THE LEGEND

T

he name Riva is synonymous with Italian nautical excellence. It has been more than a century that these artists have operated in the industry, dictating the lines of style, innovation and quality. It all began in 1842 in Samico, on Lake Iseo, when Pietro Riva started the family construction site. The first decades are characterized by the research of performance and velocity. EATALY, THE CHIC SUPERMARKET

taly is famous around the world for four specialties: fashion, cars, food and wine. Aiming at quality food and wine has proved to be a clever move. The Eataly project was born with this consideration, made not too long ago by Oscar Farinetti. He is a new guru, previously a successful entrepreneur in the technological industry, he put together the words EAT and ITALY, to create a big name within the large-scale distribution born in Italy. Eataly, therefore, has become history. It is eating the Italian way, but it is not just food. It wants to celebrate a specific way to stay at the table, from Mediterranean cuisine, to high quality products at

a fair price, and more. The brand was born by bringing together a group of small companies that work in different sectors of the food and wine markets – from the durum wheat pasta of Gargnno to the pasta of

Piedmont, from the water of the Marittime Alps to the Piedmont and Venetian wines, from the oil of the Ligurian Riviera to the beef bred in Fassone of Piedmont up to the meats and cheeses created in the Italian tradition.

The intention is to create a network between the most authentic producers active in these territories. In fact, they promote and place many of the products that were detected by Farinetti himself. But the story remains suggestive. Since its birth, with the opening of the first point of sale in 2007 in Turin, Eataly has brought the best crafted products at reasonable prices. This is thanks to the creation of a direct relationship between the producer and the distributor; inspired by the keywords such as sustainability, responsibility and sharing. EATALY IS SITUATED IN THE PALACE THAT HOSTED THE SMERALDO THEATRE; FOOD AND MUSIC, JUST ACCORDING TO TRADITION It happened within the palace that hosted the Smeraldo Theatre, which closed because Goldoni’s shows interested people less than a piece of Parma’s ham. The idea wasn’t only to expose the products but also to suggest events

in order to maintain the history of the location. The Smeraldo has always been a symbol of the golden ages of Variety Shows and the 80’s, it has been the venue of many iconic moments from the best Italian and American

musicals. Its stage has seen the shows of important artists such as Paolo Conte, and also significant international stars such as Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles and Rudolf Nurejev. That is why, between bread, fish and salami, there is a real stage that wants to offer its guests a completely free calendar, ranging between all different musical genres, hosting recitals, readings, cabaret, theatre, ballet, meetings and various art shows. It is in a semicircular shape that looks over into the store, in a strategic position where there is a lot of visibility. EATING OUT IN MILAN

Step outside, the summer season has arrived! Go out for dinner with good company under the stars, in the excellent restaurants of the city

hat is the beauty of summer? The days last longer and it’s warmer so you can experience the city outdoors. The center is less chaotic and there are many good reasons to go out. Catch the concerts, shows, and nightlife. After an aperitivo and before going clubbing, go and enjoy a meal under the stars! Milan has an abundance of restaurants that offer the possibility to eat outdoors. On Navigli there are plenty of choices. Just take a walk along the canals and see which restaurants have outdoor tables. The same goes for the more fashionable areas, such as Ticinese, Corso Como and Via Garibaldi. A walk will reveal fresh opportunities. Especially in Via Garibaldi you can encounter nice surprises. Here are some great tips to try the more exotic dining experiences, like the Globe in Piazza V Giornate, in the center; or the Finger’s Garden in Via Keplero, a mecca for whoever loves authentic Japanese sushi. in Via Bindellina, in the north area of the city, is a garden restaurant with an interesting approach to revisited traditional dishes. You can then try to move from the heart of Milan to discover the areas that embrace the city. The “Greater Milan”, the city and countryside to the west, to get to the green of Brianza and picturesque villages on the Adda river. These offer great views and interesting possibilities for walking and biking. This is perfect for those who love nature, who want to take a ride and enjoy a great lunch or dinner in the middle of the greenery. Do not miss the opportunity to eat well and be amazed. To the north-east, try the restaurants “L’altro Tempo” and the “Fortezza Visconti”. In Cassano d’ Adda, you can taste delicacies in the real, old castle Lombard, within the castle or in the beautiful courtyard. It’s charming, with a good wine list.

In the same area there is the Restaurant of the Devero hotels. It is open in the evening and you can sample the cuisine of chef Enrico Bartolini, star of Michelin guide, who, in the tradition, research and innovation achieves his goal to offer guests dishes that excite. A short distance from Milan, this elegant restaurant will introduce you to interesting culinary experiences rich in new flavors, where the dishes are prepared with the finest ingredients. Changing area, in Lainate there is Latteri Agricola, an old farm with a dairy. The dining room has a large veranda adjacent to the park, where there are farm animals. The furnishings are simple but elegant, reminiscent of the rustic style of the old taverns of the Lombard countryside. Another area to explore is in the south where there are great possibilities for fine dining, for example, in the San Zeno al Lambro. This is where wine is produced and it is the only hill in the province of Milan, or in the area of Lodi. Bon appetite!

We spent a wonderful day with an elite kitchens manufacturer Pietro Gullo and cooked pasta in a cooking school called Mama Florence equipped with his kitchen

W

hat does a kitchen mean to you? Is it a place to discover your cooking talents or just equipment for your chef or an exclusive piece of design expressing your ref ined taste? There is no need to choose only one.

The Italian company Off icine Gullo creates real objects of desire that have everything one can dream of. Thus using the motto «Art of Kitchen» is quite just. We saw one of the Gullo’s kitchens at work as we enjoyed its design perfection. An inspiring story told by Pietro Gullo, son

of the kitchen empire’s founder, let us evaluate all the advantages. We met him in Florence at a master class where we were invited by the Mama Florence cooking school. It is not diff icult to guess that all the boiling and frying action took place on the Gullo kitchen equipment. We worked with Rosanna as a chef who cheered us along as she guided us, showing the way to work with f lour, eggs and vegetables. Thanks to our perseverance and Rosanna’s help, we were able to cook really delicious dishes. Having refreshed ourselves, we took some time to speak with Pietro. “Three pillars that our company leans on,” says Gullo, “are history, craftsmanship (as each item is hand-made in Florence), and finally, the idea of an ‘in-house restaurant’. We make kitchens to order – those for professional chefs and fine dining lovers.” The Gullo company was founded by Pietro’s father, a former teacher and a big fan of do-it-yourself. He started with a creation of small ovens, and then moved on to the complex kitchen designs.

His work was highly praised f irst in Italy and then abroad. Today multifunctional creations by Gullo f launt in their own showrooms all around the world - from Miami to Tel Aviv and Jakarta. Brand products are incredibly popular in Russia and Hollywood. George Lucas and Antonio Banderas are among the big-name Gullo owners. Time f lies when you’re having a nice chat, so at last we had to say goodbye to Pietro and Rosanna. Great food, cooked in a great kitchen, brings people together, so it is not surprising that we became friends in such a short period of time. FASHIONANDBEAUTY . IT

unday’s sunny summer meadows are as green as the pastures of Trentino. The wines of Termeno and Appiano, in South Tirol, are white with interesting and perfumed outlines, such as those of Liguria. Whites are the ones which inaugurate the spring festivities and celebrate summer. Among the flowering meadows of edelweiss, irises, primroses and poppies, or on the beaches of the Riviera dei Fiori, you can taste the fresh dishes of fish and meat all accompanied by an excellent Riesling Mintligg, for example, or with a Pinot Bianco from the best of the Italian brands. You can eat all the mountain cheeses accompanied by a mighty and tasteful Gewurtztraminer, to a Muller Turgau, a

Blauburgunder, a Weissburgunder, along with the classics like Chardonnay and Suavignon. Which brands should you seek? San Michele Appiano, Hofstaettet, and St.Paul, these offer many excellent wines from South Tirol, which are produced under the first pale blue sky that sees the Nibelunghi first coming down from the flat Germany. Then there is also the wine from lake Caldaro. The lake, wine, locale, and the first reflections of the water on this side of the Alps make magic. Going further down to the Liguria Sea where respectable noble wines are produced, each to be discovered, they are low production but high quality; the Rossese, loved by Napoleone; the Vermentino and the Pigato of western Liguria;

or the big whites of the Lunae territory, near Tuscany. This is where amazing products are made with knowledge. Alternatives? Try the Sicilian and Sardinian wines, which are suitable especially with Mediterranean dishes and are interesting for their perfume and their character. Several varieties are produced, many with great results. In short, spring is renewed when the fine white wines come out, when red wines are tasted together with a barbecue among friends, or even at an important dinner. Next, summer comes along and it is still a very good time to try the excellent Italian specialties in a bottle. Focus on wine from South Tirol, Liguria, and the South of Italy.

On March 13th, on Via Della Spiga, in Milan, was the launch of the largest Porsche Design boutique in the world. A real luxury store that offers the full range of the brand’s products, from prêt-a-porter to accessories, in an area of 400 square meters.
