POLICE FASHION AFTER YOU?
Some people find that exiting! “Anna says what’s in and what’s out, WOW” and I am wondering why? Why to be so exiting about knowing that one woman or one company are ruling and control ,because they really do that, what we are going to buy, in which restaurant are we going to eat, what movies to see. Furthermore they control a big industry and there’s not only fashion in the list.

World Travelling Model WIDIKA
Of course we know that this happening and surly I don’t blame fashion magazines of any kind of magazine because all of them they’re just out there for only one reason; to make money, who doesn’t? My only worries and reason for writing this article is that I feel that sometimes people forget that. Forget that you can’t always trust nor do what a magazines says.

Magazines have nothing to jealous from TV. They have plenty of advertisements to influence (the phenomenon of consumerism) the readers, plenty of entertainment, humor, lies, of course junks and a way to control us. Maybe my words are a little bit cruel or just true. And I will give you a strong and real example about our adorable Vogue! They say that Anna Wintour is one of the most powerful women in the fashion industry. You know the reason; is because she “rules” the world of fashion. Surprising but true, Vogue (and of course all the others fashion magazines) is the one who says what’s “in” and what’s “out”.
And I truly see that happening especial in young people who read fashion magazines or gossip magazines and they start having the icons that they want to have with out thinking why to have them, or wear the clothes that they want, and we all do that, but in a limit, some of them forget that limit and they becomes victims any kind of victims! Kind of sad isn’t it? Maybe the next time you’ll read that article about “what’s in and what’s out” or “the new hottest Hollywood stars” remember that article and that advise; put a little of YOU in your life. I guess is time for all of us to do that, to finally build a personality! XXX FAUVE

PROFILE
MKH STYLIST & FASHION DIRECTOR
by Valere Paris native mkh gives us a sneak peek into her life and shares her secret for staying on top of the game How many cities and countries have you worked in over the last year? This past year i worked from bali except for one editorial in singapore. But these bali shoots were published On ben trovato, dew magazine in jakarta and Elle indonesia. What was one of your most favorite shoots that you worked on recently? One of my recent favorite shoots was an underwater/ beach shoot with amazing photographer kate friend and beautiful widika sidmore for ben trovato. Lovely people, relaxed shoot and gorgeous results. You have quite a following in asia as a stylist. Why do you think that is? Thanks but i don’t think i have a following. Some people are supportive and like my work. I think it’s because i try to keep my styling seemingly effortless. What do you love most about your job? I love the instant gratification of a job well done. You show up to a shoot not knowing anyone, you meet great creative people, have fun building a project and go home with beautiful images. What kind of projects have you been working On lately? I simultaneously work on my label, my styling and my online zine project.
You’re a paris native. Why have you stayed here in bali and not moved off? I’m actually not a paris native; i’ve never lived any place for more than 5 years. I am here because it is the best place for my children and gives me the liberty to indulge fully in my creative projects. Okay, spill it. What’s your favorite boutique In bali? To pull clothes i hit up the cool young designers and concept stores, like this is love song, maidenlove and sks. For personal, i go thrift shopping in tabanan. What is a favorite item that you own and why? My favorite item is my jade bracelet. It was a gift from my mother for my 21st birthday. I always seen vietnmese women wear them and thought it was so elegant. I never take it off. What was one of the biggest challenges you had to overcome as a stylist? No real challenges… it’s just a process of finding what your signature style is, connecting with people that are on the same wave length and publishing your work in the right places. What would be your dream shoot or collaboration? I’d love to shoot with karim sadli, billy kidd and kate friend again. Describe urself in 5 words? Passionate, Mad, Honest, Impatient, Loyal

ARE THE POLICE FASHION AFTER YOU?
by KATIE There are lots of different things that you should keep in mind when it comes to fashion. Sometimes, it is important to think about the way that you look and the way that others see you. It is important to look and feel your best so that you can continue to be successful in your life. In order to avoid being called in by the fashion police, there are a few tips that you can follow, and a few coupons that you can use to allow you to get great fashion at a fraction of the cost.
If you know the type of style you are looking for, then look through your wardrobe and see which things match that type of style, and which things are on the outs. If you find something that you know you never wear and is outdated, then replace that item with something that is newer and more in style. A good way to be sure that the fashion police aren’t going to be knocking down your door is to get a general idea of the things that you look the best in, and then make sure that those things are found in your closet.
First of all, a good way to think about staying in fashion is just to pay attention to what people are wearing around you. Looking at the ads and finding coupons for great deals isn’t going to help you unless you know what you want to look like. Look at the people who are around you each day and see what they are wearing, and the people you think look the best should have a great example of the fashion that you want to aspire to.
Buying great fashion shouldn’t have to be that expensive either. The fashion police aren’t going to be about making sure that you have the most expensive styles they’ll just want to know that you look like you are in style. Finding great coupons allows you to buy great looking clothes from stores that you’d shop at normally, which means that you can get a great deal on something that you already know you love. With the right coupons in hand, you can avoid those fashion police and make absolutely sure that you look your best at all times. It isn’t hard to make sure that you are in fashion, and if you need to, you can keep adding to your wardrobe as time goes on. Using coupons is a great way to allow you to be in style.
It doesn’t take much to be in fashion. Something that you want to remember is a lot about fashion is simply being comfortable with who you are and being in clothing that is comfortable as well. You can do this easily, and you can allow yourself to have the pleasure of looking great while you do. It shouldn’t be something that is hard, and with the right coupons, it doesn’t need to be something that is expensive, either.

HEALTH
BRAIN (mind) by VERONICA There is no doubt that mental health is vital and affects how you feel physically and emotionally. But the mind is not just something ethereal that cannot be touched; everything that happens in it is controlled and assisted by the brain. This organ also appreciates the care and pampering received through better performance. The brain is responsible for emotions, memory, learning, cognitive and language. It is the most complex and amazing organ known. Its functioning allows you to bond with the environment, respond to your inner motivations and construct the reality around you. Promoting mental health and being positive also strengthens your brain. Manage your stress positively and try not to be a source of trouble to others. Lighten your “suitcase” of resentment, frustration or punishment; it will help to improve your mental hygiene. The passage of time is also reflected in the brain. Memory deficits or loss of mental alertness may be impaired or delayed by following simple guidelines. 1. A golden rule is to protect your skull from blows, always wear a helmet when on a motorcycle or bicycle. 2. Avoid the abuse or long exposure to harmful chemicals, which includes excess of alcohol and tobacco. 3. Take good rest; sleep 6-8 hours a day. During sleep, the brain integrates multiple repair work, rest and integration of learning and memory processes. 4. Fortify your neurons. If you stimulate your brain constantly with new and diverse information, it will have greater ability to think. You can incorporate new activities, learn a language or play a musical instrument. News and variation are perfect to train the brain. You could share some time with provocative people, meeting and interacting with intelligent and interesting people always helps the intellect.
24
5. Play. The game is the number one protector of mental faculties. Join to your daily routine any of these activities to keep you lubricated neural network: board games, puzzles, meccano, crosswords, sudoku .... 6. Read more, newspapers, books or magazines, anything is fine. It will help your brain to better express the ideas generated. An agile brain needs a richer language to express itself. Reading and board games help to improve concentration. 7. Practice breathing exercises to oxygenate the brain, or activities like walking, cardio, zumba, swimming ... Exercise increases levels of brain chemicals that stimulate the growth of nerve cells. Aerobic exercises increase cerebral blood flow of histamine, which act as neurotransmitters. It also improves the oxygen supply to brain tissues. 8. Laugh. Humor stimulates the generation of dopamine, a hormone and neurotransmitter that makes you “feel good.” Laughing it is very therapeutic, it releases endorphins, a natural pain reliever. It is a miracle drug without adverse health effects. Better to keep calm on critic situations, chronic stress weakens the brain region called hippocampus, where your memory it is formed and consolidated. Laughter helps you to diminish the importance of your concerns, try to find the humorous sides after you have resolved a situation that bothered you. Good general health allows a good memory and mental health. The brain consumes 20 percent of the oxygen and nutrients that your body receives. Its metabolism is different, so that the type and quality of the food you consume will affect it directly, the brain needs a balanced diet. Antioxidants. Helps stop neurodegeneration. Citrus, green tea, spinach and garlic. Are also beneficial Omega 3 rich foods like salmon, sardines and cold water fishes.
Black Foods: algae, black potatoes, blueberries, blackberries, black beans, chocolate, black rice, etc. Due to the wonders it induces in your brain, Chocolate deserves a special mention. The Marquis de Sade said it was encouraging, passionately diabolical, magical, miraculous .... It is a wonder that if taken without abuse, helps in preventing cardiovascular problems, reduces blood pressure, has vitamin E providing antioxidant benefits to the circulatory system, provides B vitamins, it is high in potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium. An ounce promotes the production of endorphins in the brain, relieves stress and activates the mind. In addition, cocoa reduces the formation of free radicals that cause cancer and premature aging. It is advisable to consume products containing silicon (corn, squash), phosphates (nuts) and iron (soybeans, lentils, green vegetables), these three elements are founded in whole grains. Vitamins A, E and B group as folic acid. The tryptophan present in banana and tomato also contributes to creation of some neurotransmitters.
On the other hand, there are foods that harm and accelerate the deterioration of the brain, such as saturated fats, artificial colors and refined sugar, among others. It is never too late to keep learning, the more you learn the healthier your brain gets! “BRAIN HELMET FRUIT SALAD This combination of fruits and nuts with cottage cheese contains ingredients that stimulate the gray matter, and also has an unforgettable flavor CHEESE 100 g / OATS 3 Tbsp / 1/2 BANANA / MANGO 100 gr. / 1/2 ORANGE / 1 Tbsp PUMPKIN SEEDS / NUTS 1 Tbsp Peel the mango and cut into dice. Peel the bananas and cut into slices. Peel and chop the orange. Pour the cottage cheese, fruits and oatmeal, and then the nuts and seeds. If you want to give a hint of sweetness, you can add honey or orange juice over the muesli.

SPIRITUALITY
karma KONVERSATIONS It’s Time to Enjoy the Rest of Your Life.
by SWATHIMAA uly is upon us, which means throughout Summer’s wondrous middle month we have the joy of weathering the sweltering heat slathered in coconut oil, bracing ourselves against the radiant sun and sea winds beachside, our days filled with icy drinks and idyllic conversation. No time like the present to banter on about our hopes and dreams for the glorious future. I’ll go first. Without a doubt, the world seems a bit of a mess. But not here, not now! As much of the world as can treks to this lovely little isle of ours to relax and forget, for a time, the trials and tribulations awaiting them back home, where a war is placidly raging against domestic bliss, harmony, and prosperity. Here, though, immersed in natural beauty, balmy climes, and room service, worldly sojourners find rest for their weary bones. But, the topic today isn’t really tourism. I’m talking about rest and how to go about getting it. Rest may sound a bit boring as a subject and may sound quite like a misnomer, under the circumstances, considering the amount of volcano climbing, surfing, hiking, swimming, yoga, rafting, dancing, partying, eating, shopping, snorkeling, drinking, and eating that fills up virtually every one of your days and nights from your first moments here to the last. But, it’s not. The root of the word ‘vacation’ is ‘vacate’, after all, which means ‘leave empty’. Just because most visiting ‘bule’, as the locals fondly call Westerners here, buy into the PR hype of vacation-til-you-drop, it doesn’t mean we should sidestep the matter. Swapping one frenetic kind of activity for another, albeit a more pleasing one, doesn’t meet the criteria. Now, I’m not promoting flying 5,000 kilometers to find a $200-a-night, mosquito-netted bed to sleep in 24/7 for the length of your precious time off. Not entirely, that is. No. I mean, dumb animals—even the scrumptiously cute ones—know that when the body sleeps, it repairs itself, brings itself back into a natural balance and closer to optimal health. Getting enough sleep is just a truly smart thing to do. But, I’m not suggesting sleep as your sole itinerary. There are other forms of being less-than-hectic that are just as marvelous.
40
Summer is called the ‘dog days’ for good reason. It’s worth taking a wise and wonderful tip from our deliciously furry friends: always take the time to stretch after sleep, taking a nap, or just lying around. But, for God’s sake and your own, actually take the time to sleep, take a nap, and just lie around! Let your body rest as long as it wants to, whenever it wants to. Find a shady tree, a beach umbrella, or a veranda with an awning, and take a snooze. For a really great vacation, leave your alarm at home and swear off wake-up calls, except on your last day, to insure you make it to the airport on time. If you need a wake-up call then you’re not really on vacation. Trust me, everything on this beautiful island will be waiting for you when you wake up. I lived in India for years with a beautiful saint and about 300 other students. We studied and studied and meditated and meditated and ate and drank and slept and did tons of community service and he always promoted the value of aligning with Nature’s clock. It became an amazing revelation to be able to live that way and still work like nobody’s business. It’s challenging to do it at home, perhaps, where our clocks wound according to the timetable of our paychecks. But, on vacation…that’s a perfect time for revelation as well as rejuvenation. Everyone seems to think that ‘getting my money’s worth’ out of a vacation means carting home the most throwaway souvenirs and packing 5GB of new photos into their iPhone. Don’t vacation for the memories. Do it for the direct experience. Enjoy a lot of peace and share a lot of love. Savor them in the moment. If you allow them to, they’ll revitalize you. Indulge yourself, yes, but think more in terms of indulging in healing and rest. Get a massage every day. Do restorative yoga classes. Even try drinking fruit or green juices, instead of just coffee and Bintang. Anyone who goes home exhausted might as well have stayed at work.
To truly vacate—and, therefore, truly rejuvenate—you must quiet your mind and rest your body. There’s just no better way to take time out than to take a little time to meditate. Sure, it’s not the same as taking the kids on an elephant ride. But, just a few minutes of meditation can give you the zest and vigor to climb the pachyderm of your choice (and the volcano) and still have enough energy for dinner and dancing. Bali is a mystical place, the island of the gods, and known to have tremendous healing power. You can find many yoga studios that offer meditation as well as yoga classes. But, meditation is something you can do anywhere. Most people think it’s got to be some place truly quiet, like a cave, for it to really work. But, it’s not the outer quiet that matters. It’s all about creating an inner quiet, something that definitely changes your life for the better, not just for the moment. And
those moments, where you can consciously just switch off, help you for the rest of your vacation and the rest of your life. Get it…the ‘rest’ of your vacation, etc. I hope you’re catching my double meaning here. As most of you surely know, I don’t just sleep and lie around and nap or meditate all day, every day. Seriously, a girl’s gotta dance! I’ve done everything on the initial list and done some of them ecstatically. But, I didn’t do it all, all at once. Be joyful! Play! But, take rest. It’s the real foundation for everything else. Trust me, you’ll thank me when you get home.

MOTEL MEXICOLA A lot more, “South of the border”
by KATIE TRUMAN Arriba! It’s getting muy caliente at Motel Mexicola and we’re not talking about the Balinese climate! In downtown Petitenget, Katie Truman heads south, down Mexico way…. In ever-happening party epicentre Petitenget, I thought we’d finally “got it all.” Then I stepped into surprise of the month, Motel Mexicola, a sprawling bar-restaurant-lounge where rice-fields once stood and a mesmerizing shrine to all things Mexican, from cuisine and drinks to decor, sounds and ambience. In a fabulous assault on the senses, Mexican-themed Mexicola is a multi-coloured fiesta of candy pinks, turquoise and greens (the loud decor matched only by the bar staff shirts) with stunning, hand-painted Latino-style artwork on every wall and surface and meticulous attention to detail – rosaries, crucifixes, masks, framed old photos, Jesus and Virgin Mary idols and other Mexicano mementoes placed everywhere. Nighttime comes welcomed in with fairy lights in palm trees, altar candles and neon lights. Eclectic split-level sections cater to both the mood and crowd: starting outside with their low-key street-side Taqueria, a common sight on Mexico’s streets, with a voyeuristic people watching terrace and small kitchen to the rear, baking fresh tortillas. Through the main entrance, semi-open “Riccardo Ricky” section features mezzanine-level fine dining por dos and informal bar stool and bar counters downstairs facing out onto an open courtyard – the latter, a vast sea of comfy couches and largesized tables earmarked for lively groups or families. Behind the extensive open bar, where the counters here come lined with comfy bar seats, are a row of intimate dining booths – each with individually hand-painted walls.
42
The creative visionary behind Motel Mexicola is Australian Adrian, who along with his team has succeeded in recreating an authentic feel and taste of Mexico in Bali; hardly surprising, with Adrian having lived in Mexico for years, formerly married to a Mexican and running one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most celebrated Mexican restaurants, Rojo Rocket, in Australia’s Avoca Beach. Mexican-food purists will be muy contento to learn that Motel Mexicola is a Tex-Mex, Nachos, Burritos- free zone, with an emphasis on southern, authentic Mexican, rather than the more American-influenced fare in the north. From twenty-two chefs working in the open kitchen, two executive chefs hail from Mexico’s Playa del Carmen, while the head chef is formerly of Gordon Ramsay, Dubai. Tortillas, salsas and more are freshlyhand-made, with key ingredients like white corn flour and chilies imported in – even the Mexican-style pottery comes custom-made ! Motel Mexicola’s menu is designed for sharing and sampling Mexico’s tasty flavours and gracias! is simplified, “join the dots” explanatory (great for people like me who are complete Mexican food novices) advising what and in what order to choose. You may be additionally assisted by Senor Adrian, invariably buzzing around the dining floor offering his expertise. More familiar with cheese drenched Tex-Mex found n generic Mexican-fare chains, these predominately finger food dishes are more delicately flavoursome (always with a generous squeeze of lime), yummy and dainty-sized than expected.
First, share some small-sized appetizers, such as Esquites, a twist on essential street food; here, corn kernels served in a cup with sour cream, cheese and tajin. Or Tostaditas, fried yellow corn tortillas, with signature De Atun (raw tuna, chipotle mayonnaise, sesame seeds and coriander.) Or you could try Empanadas (fried masa pastries with fillings), Quesadillas (tortilla with fillings and Mexican salsa) and Ceviche y Aquachile (marinated raw fish or prawns). Mexicola’s range of ever-popular Tacos – an iconic Mexican dish – include Taquitos, – another mini-sized, street-food taco dish, accompanied by salsas, such as delish De Cameron (tortillas with tempura prawn, pineapple salsa, avocado and coriander.) The more substantial Mains (Comida para la Familia ) is great for family or friends try melt- in-the-mouth Pecado fritos, with marinated whole red snapper, coleslaw and salsa that is all rolled up in fresh tortillas. Salads and desserts also feature. Mexicano-inspired drinks include, of course, a weighty Tequileria Section (arguably the island’s finest Tequila range?) and
cocktails, like sublime Coco Colado (vodka, triple sec, Malibu, lime and pineapple juice and coconut water in a fresh coconut shell) and Margaritas, including Frozen and Verde (spicy hot with chillis), or house signature Mexicola (Jose Cuervo Tequila, fresh lime, sour mix and coca cola). Toe-tapping, Mexicano, Latino and 1960s-classic sounds reinforce that surfie-dude, road trip, south-of-the-border feel. Launched around three months ago, “MM” is evidently Greater Seminyak’s hot new flavour: on this Saturday night encounter (“Bartender, another frozen margarita, por favor?”) this mighty fun venue is heaving, with numerous tables reserved and more buzz than a beehive. Unfortunately, celebs who have already frequented here – think Kelly Slater and Tara Banks – didn’t show up tonight, but a few shots of tequila and hey, everyone looks like a celeb. Arriba, indeed! Daily 11am to 1am: Motel Mexicola, Jalan Kayu Jati 9X, Petitenget, Bali, tel: 0361 736 688

Fashion
Living in the past and loving it! by STEPHANIE For a few years now vintage clothing has been the craze, a fad and the fashion. Items made between 1920 and 1980 are considered vintage, and we see a lot of current day designers copying the ideas from the past. In today’s world, individuality is encouraged and supported, and sometimes a unique vintage item can be just what you need to set yourself apart from the crowd. The vintage clothing designs seem ageless, and so many are drawn to experiencing a glimpse of trendy times gone by. If it was very fashionable in its own time, you can pretty much guarantee it is still just as fashionable today. Vintage clothing goes well with all of today’s fashions, but strangely seems to take it to another level of class, quality and detail. All this being said, the patterns themselves are often basic and were easy to make. If you haven’t tried vintage clothing before, why not add some to your modern day wardrobe? It is amazing how much character a few vintage items will give to your look. You will have many people coming to ask you where you got it from, and they will be disappointed when they find that it is really a one off vintage item. Anything vintage which has lasted the times is bound to be made from high quality material. Some styles and patterns you could only find today in expensive designer labeled stores. Classic silhouette shapes, for example, are considered exclusive today. Maybe you have tried to buy vintage before but couldn’t work out what was what? Things like blazer jackets from the forties or bomber jackets from the World War II times, poodle skirts from the fifties and saddle shoes are all items that are much sought after by collectors. The conservative and proper styles of the eras before the sixties soon went by the wayside for the leading edge new age styles up until the eighties. Things like mini skirts, a line dresses, body suits, boots, pedal pushes and tights all came back into fashion and are still worn today. We are now seeing even more from the eighties becoming vintage such as halter tops, ruffle skirts and balloon dresses. Vintage clothing is easy to come by from most second hand shops. You need to know what you are looking for, but there are usually plenty to choose from. Always examine the needlework, and look carefully at seems and fabric for signs of wear and tear. A lot of vintage clothing collectors frequent yard sales to find their treasures. It is common for people to decide to get rid of their past clothes they won’t wear any more, and it is amazing what treasures you can find. Often they sell them way under value when they can be worth over a hundred a piece or more. You can also grab some bargain classic clothing at flea markets, where they are also sold for next to nothing.
44
There is the option of finding a vintage clothing shop, which are in some cities today. There is such a popular market for these re-vamped fashions that there are profits to be made through recycling. Why Buy Vintage Clothing? If you haven’t tried vintage clothing before, why not add some to your modern day wardrobe? It is amazing how much character a few vintage items will give to your look. You will have many people coming to ask you where you got them from, and they will be disappointed when they find that it is really a one off from the past. Dare to be a bit different, and learn to appreciate timeless designs and craftsmanship. Who knows who may have worn your vintage item before you bought it, and you could very well be in something that was a famous design of it’s time! Vintage clothing is still as fashionable today as it was when it was made. It is a way you can set yourself out from the crowd with unique fabrics and needle work, while still being hip and cool. You can also wear them to costume parties and go all-out outrageous. Wearing them can really make you feel like you are right back in the era they are from, which many people find fun and attractive.

KUPU KUPU FOUNDATION
by VERONICA I met Begona just one week after I had arrived in Bali, about four years ago. My first impression was of a fragile woman, with slow and relaxed voice tone. But she is a very brave and strong lady. She arrived in Bali in 1998, as a tourist, but that trip would change her life
She felled in love with the island and founded that she could continue here the work she had already started in her home country, Spain. After some volunteer work assisting handicap children, she felt she would be even more useful in this place than in Spain, where many disable people has not the opportunity to have a decent life. There is currently no government assistance made to disabled people or children in Bali and Indonesia. She thought that creating an Ngo which aim was helping this type of persons, she could find a way to improve their life and dignity. But this path was not easy. Many institutions closed their doors after she knocked in, and finally one city council in Spain as well as some friends and collaborative people believed in her and decided to support the project. This way, and not without a lot of efforts and hard work, she was able to create Kupu Kupu in 2000. Kupu Kupu means butterfly. Like a butterfly, many handicap people in Bali have been living in a cocoon for many years. They have been at home, never gone out or go to school because they do not have a wheelchair, or simply because their families consider they are not valid for the real world. Many of this people do not know how to read and write, they have been excluded of society.
48
This Ngo searches and listen to those who never have been given any opportunity just because they have a physical disability or mental illness. Most of them have a big lack of self esteem, lots of fear and feel very ashamed of their disability. They even do not want to be seen and often live in very bad conditions. When Kupu Kupu arrives to one of this person’s life, the first step is bringing him/her to the outside world. Frequently, a wheelchair is the open window to a new life. When possible, the foundation try to provide a job in the organization, making them feel useful and valid for today’s world. Before this happens, physical therapy, education and learning is needed to integrate them in society. It can take long time, and this is one of the daily routines in the centers they have in Ubud and Bangli, one of the poorest areas of Bali. In their school and workshop areas disabled people can meet, socialize and obtain support. They start the day picking up many of the students at home to drive them to the centre. The daily activities include a school which teaches basic numeracy and literacy skills to younger students. There is also a physiotherapy room at the centre and facilities for groups to stay overnight for special events and activities.
Swimming, trips to the beach and to wildlife parks have proved popular outings and learning experiences for students and their families. Meeting with other school students is a successful activity. Arts, crafts and music activities followed by light refreshments are enjoyed together. This is an especially valuable experience for students to learn about the lives of others and to share some happy times. The organization works to create facilities that are more accessible for disabled people. They work to increase awareness in the local community about the problems this type of persons has to face. It is very important that they become more independent through job training and support. They also assist with medical care by providing medicines, physiotherapy and surgical operation when needed. Can provide wheelchairs and other physical aids. They often must help adapting their houses facilities to make their routines easier. The foundation also founded that many of this people were very talented in arts and handicraft. As another way to support them, Kupu Kupu has a shop in Ubud town center, Jl. Raya Ubud corner with Jl. Hanoman, were they sell and promote handicrafts that they make. Is when they
get economical independence, that they find themselves useful and confident to face the daily challenges in life. It is then when the butterfly opens the cocoon and flies to enjoy freedom and happiness. Bali main industry is the tourism, and in order to get funds to keep creating new projects and facilities, the foundation also provides some services that can be used by tourists or local residents. They can organize excursions like Mount Batur hiking or rafting, cooking class, massages, or booking some hotels for you during your holidays. They also manage some budget bungalows in the rice fields where some disable people are employed. Anytime you book these activities through the organization, a percentage of your booking will go to Kupu Kupu foundation. On their websites http://www.ongkupukupu.org (Spanish) http://www.kupukupufoundation.org (English) You can get further information and details about the projects they have done and keep doing, as well and how you can help this organization.

Alexei Bazdarev Fashion, Portrait and Erotique photographer
by VALERE I have been following Alexei‘s work for quite some time and it just keeps getting better and better. He has a nack for fashion photography and it clearly shows. I decided to find out a bit about him and what his goals are for the future and current project.
Alexei, can u tell us a bit more about you? Where do you come from? Where do you live? I was born in Moscow, Russia in 1989. 2003 I travelled to Germany with my mother and have been living in western Germany since then. I found into photography in 2010 and experimented with different genres. People photography, especially fashion and portrait photography, quickly became the direction I wanted to go. At that time I was studying mechanical engineering at the university. I got my bachelor of applied science and work as a change control manager at the train manufacturing plant now.
What is your approach to lighting? Do you prefer artificial or available light? What are your most used light modifiers and why? I work with both types, but I prefer available light. I love direct sunlight, it is perfect for beautiful bright fashion photos, the skin looks great, and there are many variables to play with. Even if the light is not perfect, I prefer to shoot wit al outside, cause it looks natural. Lately I began to use flashes more often, especially the bare speedlite combination, without light formers. It gives you a harsh provocative light, which look I like a lot.
Where do you call home? I have been living in Germany for a long time now, and I enjoy living there. But Moscow is my origin city, where I still have a lot of friends and relatives. Every year I travel to Moscow and spend a few weeks there. So I have 2 homes now, I could not make a clear decision for one of hem to answer this question. Since my interest for photography Moscow became even more interesting for me, because of the beautiful russian models and great locations for photoshootings.
What style do you mainly shoot? Most of all I like dynamic provocative shots, full of energy. I like to shoot with a kind of wide-angle lens to show more of the environment, where I shoot, to get the interaction with the model.
What led you to a career in fashion photography? Do you have formal training in your background? Although I had studied something completely different and my main job has nothing in common with photography, photography developed from a hobby to a real passion of mine. I spent all my free time in photography and fashion blogs, read magazines, watched tutorials, so I could decide what style and what direction I like most, and, of course, to get better every time I take photos, to learn new stuff etc. I had no training in photography, all I know I learned from Internet, books, videos and, of course, learning by doing. Could you name some of the photographers that have inspired you and helped to shape your approach to fashion photography? I have been looking on so many extraordinary photographs on the web, that I could not name all the photographers, whose pictures I liked most and who inspired me to do my thing. Some of the names are Greg Kadel, Mario Testino, Lina Tesch, Martin Krolop, Zach Arias, Terry Richardson.. What would we find in your camera bag for a typical assignment in studio or on location? It always depends on the assignment, but normally I only have my cam (Canon 5DmarkIII) with 3 lenses (all fix, fast lenses), 2-3 speedlites and some stuff like radio transmitters, e-ttl cabel etc. Sometimes I take a portable octabox, too.
As you look through the viewfinder what is the most critical moment in the capture of your image? I always look for a perfect shot with a combination of great body language, beautiful light and real expression on the face. Models looks are always the most important thing, even if the environment and the clothes look great (and fashion is about clothes), model has to look beautiful. If not fashion photography what would Alexei is doing with his time? Main daily job at Siemens, second job as a photographer… there is not a lot of free time left for other activities. I play basketball, record short clips and video edit them, take free time for my friends to get a short break from all the creative stuff. What has been the best advice given to you by another photographer? Really can’t remember anything. Who is your biggest Inspiration? My mother. Thank you Alexei for sharing your thoughts and images we wish you continued success.

Aries If you’re starting to lose enthusiasm for what’s hanging up in your wardrobe or the whole concept of making an effort, it’s less that you’ve fallen into a fashion rut and more that you’re probably too busy with life’s other demands. You’ll have a chance to have more fun, color and creativity in your life and your fashion choices next week. Until then wait for the right mood to kick in.
Libra Having the Moon in your income sector as the Sun returns to your career sector today is a huge advantage, ensuring that you not only have a nose for money but there is a sense of confidence and entitlement in play. With lucky Jupiter now just 5 days away from your career sector, the Sun’s first impressions of where things stand professionally is going to be that this is no ordinary annual update.
Taurus Just a few hours before the Moon wraps up an important visit to your relationship sector, one that may have pushed some buttons over the last few days but in the process has revealed how much support you have, the Sun returns to your communication sector. This brings a new level of mental clarity and authenticity to your communications, in a degree and speed that might normally take days to acclimatize to.
Scorpio Having the Moon in your sign is always an advantage, giving you an intuitive edge and a sixth sense that allows you to see behind the scenes and to read between the lines. This will come in handy today, as a shift in solar focus precedes the same, but on a much larger scale, shift that lucky Jupiter will make in 6 days time. As the solar focus shifts from money matters to a more adventurous focus, you’re able to see that money is simply a means to an end, with your real motivation becoming more transparent.
Gemini Having had the Moon in your work sector for the last few days this will ensure you have your finger on the pulse and your ear to the ground as the Sun returns to your income sector today, shining the solar spotlight on your income situation and the resources you have to work with. Chances are this is likely to bring the shock realisation of just how well positioned you are and how many options you have, on both the income and work fronts. Cancer Even though with Venus, Mercury and Ceres already in your sign, new doors are open and you’re ready to move on, only the Sun’s return today gives you permission. As the Sun returns to your sign and begins both your birthday month and new solar year the spotlights come on, revealing that this is destined to be anything but just another run around the block. With lucky Jupiter following just 5 days behind the road ahead stretches a lot further than you can imagine. Leo As the Sun returns to a quieter and more reflective area of your chart to begin the month long wind down of your current solar year, he’ll find that he’s not alone and this is already a crowded part of your chart. With a period of internal review already underway and even Venus taking your heart on a nostalgic trip down memory lane, the Sun is able to turn the lights on, while adding more objectivity. Virgo While the Sun’s departure from your career sector today is not going to see the professional focus suddenly drop off, not with Jupiter and Mars, the planets of luck and passion staying behind, but it does take away some of the focus, while leaving you with a clear sense of where things stand. The Sun is now turning the solar spotlight on your friendships, associations, social life and both personal and professional networking, with your social interactions becoming a lot more important.
62
Sagittarius A shift in solar focus today will create in one day a chance to take in a chapter that is coming to an end and look ahead to a new chapter about to begin. For while the Sun’s departure from your relationship sector today will take the solar spotlight off your relationships, this is far from the end of the story, with a shift towards financial matters throwing the spotlight on an already evolving situation. Capricorn As the Sun leaves your work sector and returns to your relationship sector today the solar spotlight will shift from a chapter that is now in its end game and onto one that is just unfolding. While work matters will continue to unfold until Mars leaves your work sector mid July, as the Sun throws the solar spotlight on your relationships this will reveal that something special is already developing and this is where your future lies. Aquarius Having the Moon in your career sector as the Sun returns to your work sector ensures that your professional instincts are sharp and as he’s just wrapping up his monthly visit, that you’ve had a few days to get your bearings and touch base with the forces already in play. As the solar spotlight falls on your work sector this will not only reveal how many options you have but a strong partnership between work, income and career forces. Pisces There is a shift in solar focus today and it’s one you’re going to like, with the Sun shifting the solar spotlight off home and family matters, returning to the most playful, romantically charged and creative part of your chart. Yet from the get go there is nothing to suggest that this is simply an annual update and everything to suggest that rather than a flash in the pan that what you’re moving into is a new reality, one that is here to stay.

Sexy Shoulders Getting Back To Basics... Ladies... build beautiful, round shoulders with 3 old-school exercises guaranteed to add strength, size, and shape to your shoulders in no time! Work out included! There is nothing like a good pair of solid, round shoulders to make any tank top, tube top, or hot little black dress look tremendous! It’s not too late to get those shoulders into tip-top condition before sleeveless weather is over and done with; If you’re willing to lift slowly with good challenging weight, and stick with it, hard round, defined shoulders can be yours easier and faster than you think! It’s important to remember to select a weight that is heavy, yet safe; this can be determined by how easy it is for you to lift and place the weight into the starting position; if it cannot be done with good and proper form, or without swinging the weight.. then it is wise to select a lighter weight. The weight should be challenging enough that it is difficult to complete the last one or two of your set number of repetitions. Do each exercises in the order it is listed. Follow the instructions below! This chart is just a guide, and is not set in stone; the longer you have been actively and consistently using free weight, the heavier and harder you are able to hit those delts! If you are new to the game, be safe and lift light until you get the form just right!
Shoulder Side Raises Exercise: The shoulder side raise exercise is commonly done with free weighted dumbbells although it can be done in a variety of ways such as bands or resistance cables. You can also do these sitting or standing depending on how you feel more comfortable. Typically a lot of weight is not needed to maximally stimulate the deltoids due to the disadvantaged lever arm your relatively small deltoid has to overcome to complete the exercise.
• Hold hands at sides with weight in your hands. • Face straightforward wit upright body, chest high, and head forward. • Feet should be shoulder width apart. • Palms should be facing the sides of your body.
Dumbbell Shoulder Press The shoulder press is a great exercise to build bigger shoulders and to develop strength. This is due to the fact that most people will be able to lift a much higher weight than they would with isolated shoulder exercises.
1. Now raise the dumbbells to shoulder height one at a time using your thighs to help propel them up into position. 2. Make sure to rotate your wrists so that the palms of your hands are facing forward. This is your starting position. 3. Now, exhale and push the dumbbells upward until they touch at the top. 4. Then, after a brief pause at the top contracted position, slowly lower the weights back down to the starting position while inhaling. 5. Repeat 15-20 repetitions, 3sets
Standing Dumbbell Shoulder Rowing Shoulder rowing exercises develop strength in your back and posterior muscles as well as your abdominal muscles.
1. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, and stand with your legs shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees slightly apart and bend your torso forward at about 45 degrees with your arms extended below your chest. 2. Hold the dumbbells with your knuckles facing out to your sides. 3. Pull the dumbbells toward your armpits and squeeze your shoulder blades together. 4. Hold the contraction for one second, and lower the weights for three seconds. 5. Do not round your back or shoulder or stick your neck forward. 6. Repeat the movement for 15 to 20 reps for three sets. You can also do this exercise with one arm or alternating arms like a piston.
You can do these exercises with different equipment and at different angles.
With a slight bend in the elbows raise your arms at the sides. • Shoulders should not deviate forward or backward. • Do raise the weight until shoulder height. • Elbow slightly bend with wrists in same height A slight bend should be present to ensure shoulders are being worked and not other muscles assisting. • Slowly lower the weight in the sideways arch motion that you performed upward. • Stop just short of full rest and perform the next repetition to keep tension on the shoulders. • Repeat for 15-20repretion, 3 sets Side Raise Tips: Lead the upward movement with your elbows rather than your hands. This is make sure your shoulders are working, not your forearms. It will also reduce injury rates as well.
Variations: You can perform the exercise standing or sitting on a regular flat bench. For people with lower back problems, the version described is the recommended one.
