editor’s note Clothing was once a mere necessity to safeguard against the elements. Today, It’s a statement of individuality a lot could be deduced about you just the way you pick your colours for example (attire too vibrant and you’re a hippie; too dark and you’re a goth!) Moreover, you are able to enhance your physical assets while hiding the flaws through what you wear. But if you’re a fashion victim, following trends like a slave (not that easy in bali for sure lol except if u stop at Miss Milne or Magali Pascal Shops and few more but not that much hehe) then you could fall into the trap of donning clothes that actually have the opposite effect: Accentuating the physical flaws while hiding the assets! An extreme example is witnessed when someone who is overweight puts on tight clothing (big girls you are beautiful) or reveals too much skin (Welcome to Kuta hahaha don’t forget your bintang singlet guys!) or being bisexual, gay, lesbian, straightly open-minded… Be yourself and don’t be ashamed of it! Oh sure, such individuals are probably in indifferent to what others might think of them and/or lack fashion sense. However, none of us could undermine the importance of how others see us. Wear the wrong attire or put on a tie that fails to match with your suit and you could be sure that the person in front of you will be put off by this (even if you have a « beautiful mind » and your GPA is the highest he/she has ever seen.) Whether we like it or not, how we present ourselves to world through our fashion style could either play to our benefit or impede our progress as individuals in society. So here is a piece of advice: Dress sensibly and make sure that what you wear is compatible with your character and with how you look – avoiding at all cost wannabe syndrome! And if you believe that you lack the fashion sense to do the aforementionned, seek friends whim you know can help. After Fashion, I would like to talk about what is finally very important, HIV AIDS! Get it right before to get it wrong Dudes! Just get tested and please, just fucking use condoms!!! Even if you have to deal with the » coldness of the latex » the hotness doesnt protect you from this sh*t ! Cheers ;) xxx Julhenry

PROFILE

HELEN milne feminine but rock n roll Photo Š Chris Littlechild

by KATIE After leaving a politically tenuous situation in Zimbabwe at the ripe age of 23, Helen moved on to London to discover her passion for fashion. Through creativity, industrious hard work, and a bit of luck, Helen is inarguably living out her destiny. We discover through the wonderful Miss Milne Framework how ingenious life can be and things coming “full circle” isn’t just a phrase, but a reality.

I learned you are from Zimbabwe, Can you tell me about growing up there? I was lucky to have grown up there, it is a beautiful country with amazing nature, it was an isolated place and there was a sense or freedom that existed there. We lived in the city but my Uncle had a game farm so my Dad spent a lot of time taking us on adventures in the wild, safaris, fishing, climbing. Life revolved around the nature that was our entertainment, the sun would rise and it was like the curtains are being drawn for the theatre to begin. The svelte Giraffes drinking, the Lions roar or the baby elephant gripping its mothers tail. I am proudly Zimbabwean. When was the last time you were in Zimbabwe? How did you feel about leaving? My family are still living in Zimbabwe. I go back at least once a year to visit, get a dose of them and the wild life. If you’re born in Africa it pulsates in your blood you will always have an urge to be back there. I left to go to University in Cape Town when I was 18 and moved to London when I was 23. When I got to London I was excited to be in a place that was so diverse and had so many opportunities, but I really missed Africa. How did moving to London change you? I left to London because of the political situation in Zimbabwe, Mugabes reign and the land reclamation had brought so much turmoil, it was dangerous and my parents did not think it was the best future for me, so it was with a slightly heavy heart that I came to London. I taught English in my first year and was not entirely happy. The City took huge adjustments, the amount of people in the streets, the weather was horrid and I had to adjust to all the bureaucracy. I didn’t enjoy it very much in the beginning, however, I knew I didn’t have much of choice, I had to stick it out and in the end I loved it. Did you love fashion as a kid? Zimbabwe was so cut off from the world in a lot of ways so there was very little contemporary fashion. Our best option as teenagers was to buy vintage/second hand duds from the local markets that had been sent over to Africa as Aid. We restructured and reworked those clothes to make our own mark on them. I grew up around a sewing machine, my Greek grandmother would sew all of my sister and my wardrobes under our strict instruction!(This would be a great picture to have of you in Zimbabwe wearing some kick ass design of grandmas!) Have you always wanted to design clothes? As a child I spent loads of time sewing with my grandmother and as a teenager I would de/ reconstruct garments, I fell into the role of designing and making all the girls high school dance dresses every year much to my mothers rattled nerves , but it was really when I went on a holiday to India after a year in London that I decided that I wanted to design clothes. What happened in India? I needed a break to think about what was going on outside of London, the rat race. I thought coming from Africa I easily cope with travelling in India but I was so unprepared for it, overwhelmed. The people were really inspiring. They didn’t have much, financially but they seemed very happily satisfied with their lot in life. I thought, if they can be happy with very little maybe this was one of the most important things to achieve. What is it that makes me tick? Fashion is so much fun. My favorite place in India was Jaipur, well the whole of Rajastan, for the colors, culture and the dynamism.

What was your first entrance into the fashion world? I got my first job with Pepe Jeans in London. I become area manager across their stores in London, after 4 years I convinced them I should be a part of the design team. I was setting up a flagship store in Notting Hill and the concept was the majority of garments were recycled, printed and constructed in store. I convinced them I should run it. :chuckles: I had a crash course on how to really sew that weekend. I ended up doing an ongoing range for Harvey Nichols in London and Hong Kong making one off Menswear pieces. It was recycled vintage, restructured denim. I had saved up money and decided to start my own company. I did my first range in South Africa and when I took it to London I was approached by Top Shop to have a Miss Milne concession in-store. I got lucky. I couldn’t keep up with the demand producing in South Africa at the time so a friend brought me to Bali in 2005 and I began producing here. I would go back and forth from London to Bali as I was still working for Pepe but eventually I had to concentrate on my own line. Where does your inspiration come from or how to it develop? I get it from what is going on in popular culture, I follow the trends and what I am enjoying at the time. Describe your style. My style is quite feminine. I think there is definitely a rock and roll flair. What is your next collection and newest campaign? Normally when I start a collection, I have collected a load of things I find bits of fabric, music. Magazines, smells, things I love. My mom and I went to Hong Kong to hang out with each other and I found this stunning vintage Italian lace. We were in all these beautiful temples and churches and it was family and tradition, the collection was influenced by this. I did a really structured, winter collection, high collared lace, very tailored, most pierces have bodices with traditional corset details sewn into the garments, it’s very feminine and graceful. The summer collection before was very tropical, punk, with fluro colors. It had lots of sequins, more saucy. This one is very lady like, simple, traditional. So, Your newest campaign is pretty radical. Can you tell me about where you came up with the idea for the shoot? It really came from this Italian theme, the religious icons their strong family lineages, we did black silk bomber jackets and embroidered the Mother Mary on the back, black on black, with lots of religious references. I wanted to do the shoot in a church. We found one in Canggu that allowed us to shoot. It’s so fun to see your vision become reality after all that hard work. It all came together. What do you consider you biggest passion? People. What they think of Fauve Magazine? It’s inspiring in that it’s dealing with the current culture. It is edgy nudging a few boundaries, I think it will do really well. www.missmilne.co.uk

SPOTLIGHT

THE FEMALE EXPERIENCE BY KATIE Bisexuality is a romantic or sexual attraction or behavior towards males and females. The American Psychological Association states “sexual orientation falls along a continuum”. In other words, humans don’t have to be exclusively hetero or homo –sexual, but can feel varying degrees of both. Bisexuality is nothing new to the world. Its been recorded in various societies throughout a long history as well as within the animal kingdom. Yet, it’s still considered by most of society as “distasteful” and not as a natural urge for humans to want to relate romantically and sexually with their own sex. We live in a world where sexuality expressed is generally taboo. It is maintained as a difficult subject to talk about. Especially when it is experienced outside of marriage, committed relationship or heterosexual relationships. Society gives us a framework that is supposed to be allowable or acceptable. And yet, there is so much we don’t understand within that framework. When we are alone. What is the meaning of this seemingly meaningless yet crucial act of what? Love? Lust? Desire? Experimentation? Health? Nature? When we explore sexuality as a concept, it seems permissible and we begin to see how sexuality can be discussed in a healthy way. Sexuality in action is something else entirely. Orientation, behavior and Identity are more commonly incongruent. The ruthless double standard when it comes to bisexuality with men and women is also a mystery to me. Society is consistently irresponsible when discussing and responding to sexuality of others. Without ever understanding the true scientific and psychological nature of sexuality, people fall prey to stereotypes, gender traps, assumptions and judgments. For example, the attitude is that men who kiss men are gay. Women who kiss women are a parody, a caricature of sexuality. Most often presented to the heterosexual man as a trifle game, as entertainment for masculine requirement for stimulation. I think the allowance of bisexuality of women also has partially to do with male dominance. Bisexuality of women is rarely seen as a beautiful female sexual discovery. That’s too clean. This viewpoint only serves females. To psychologically ‘up the stakes’ on this conversation, one could go so far as to say there is an existence of latent male aggression towards female bisexuality because men are not as free to explore same-sex experiences due to societal discrimination. The bisexuality of women whether in pornography or at a high school party where girls kiss each other for the purpose of getting male attention is almost always referred to as, “hot”. This attitude of “that was hot’ is a male construction of reality. Or what the “man” needs to see as reality in order to maintain sexual dominance and control. In other words, the visual experience is what is idealized, valued. The visual experience is generally for male pleasure. The Associated Press has just published a study suggesting more women than ever, especially in the late teens are 20s, feel more

22

comfortable exploring same-sex sexual encounters than ever before. The first people we, as young women, begin to share our budding sexuality with are our girlfriends. We do this in a number of ways, for various reasons but primarily because maybe we are not yet able or ready to share that kind of intimacy with the opposite sex. We can thank our socialized gender identity. I, for one, felt much closer to my girlfriends in that way, than with any boys as a teenager. Teenage boys already seemed so gender bred to use girls to advance their own sexual reputation. The whole courting of female was based on lustful exploitation. It was different with my girlfriends. We were equal. We felt intimately and emotionally connected to each other in ways boys and girls weren’t when I was that age. Girls begin these relationships of intimacy through storytelling, sharing of secrets, female bonding, physical touch and affection. We learn that we can get information from our girlfriends about our own sexuality. Discovering that we aren’t that different from each other is a huge relief when sexuality is often repressed and kept hidden. We can find out what’s normal and OK through relating our own experience with another who is our peer. We feed off these relationships to rid ourselves of the unnecessarily uncomfortable feelings of aloneness and awkwardness that our sexuality bestows upon us as it rises up during adolescence. The same sharing of sexual experience happens with young boys. I know from common knowledge and talking to grown men about their own experience that experimentation of a bisexual nature happens among boys entering adolescence in the form of group masturbation. Furthermore, in young adulthood, it’s becoming quite common for men to explore their sexuality with other men without labeling themselves as having any particular orientation. It almost feels as though we are fighting our way out of the dark ages of repressed sexuality and people are starting to experience their own “enlightenment” about the feelings that exist inside of them. I think a lot of it has to do with boredom of the programmed sexual expression and the fact that we are finally “OK-ing” a more liberal attitude in regard to who we are and what we feel. It still seem that on a whole, the universal attitude towards sex and sexuality is completely puritan and perverse at the same time. This I have trouble getting my mind around. We still have a lot of bridges to build out of these Sexual Dark Ages. As we learn about our own sexuality with applying more freedom, love and acceptance. The only thing I can understand for certain about sexuality is that it is ours and ours alone. We can choose when, where and how to share that sexuality with another. My sexuality is not for others but for me to enjoy and to explore my feelings of desire as a human experience given to me by nature. For risk of sounding too dogmatic, I should mention that this is just ONE angle of discourse. One point of view thats inherently biased anyway.

HEALTH BY VERONICA The hair, as the eyes or skin, is a living extension of you, has its roots in the blood and feeds from your digestive system. The hair is closely related to the nervous system and not only has a role to adorn your head, but also has a biological function that helps your body to “feel and stabilize magnetically. When your hair starts to become brittle and dry, begins to deteriorate or fall, is time to pay attention. Exhaustion, excessive worries, not exercising, studying in excess without mental rest and sleep deprivation are common causes. The baldness or gray hair is also reflecting your moods and food habits. Your hair is in continuous renewal as nails or skin. The best you can do for the health and beauty of your hair is feeding it properly to better assimilate the nutrients provided by complementary external treatments. A diet rich in minerals, vitamins, essential fatty acids and vegetable proteins promote a better health, vitality and growth of your hair. Beneficial minerals are Selenium, Zinc, Sulfur, Magnesium, Iron, Iodine and Calcium. Great Vitamins for your hair are B group, vitamin A and Fatty Acids: Omega acids, Omega 3 & 6. Rich foods on these are: Green leafy vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, radishes, endive, radishes, turnip and lettuce. Other vegetables like seaweed, onion, garlic, cucumber, pumpkin, carrot, watercress, squash, tomato, celery, asparagus, potato, corn and eggplant.

24

Herbs like basil, watercress, parsley and dandelion. Fruits like bananas, pineapple, strawberries, apple, orange and avocados. Legumes such as chickpeas, peanuts, lentils, black and white beans, peas and soybeans. Grains like oats, wheat, wheat germ and barley Dried nuts like almonds, dried figs, raisins, hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, pistachios, cashews. Fish and Seafood Vegetables, fruits and nuts are much better raw and do not forget to drink plenty of water every day. Try not to abuse of fats, because they promote hair loss, and coffee, because it irritates your nervous system. To promote blood circulation, at night before sleep, lie on with your feet slightly tilted upwards (you can use a pillow). On this position, try to concentrate on your breathing and relax, hit the pads of your fingers to gently massage your scalp. It would be good in the morning to practice at least 10 minutes of activity that oxygenates your body. On the other hand, motorbike helmets, staying long time under the sun, chlorine and salt can dramatically damage your hair. Sometimes, emergency measures are required to take care of. You can help it from outside making natural masks that will give some shine and silky aspect to your hair.

While the factors involved to cause alopecia are diverse (hormonal, genetic) and have no direct relationship with food, it is true that a balanced diet of protein and amino acids can promote and sustain the health of hair and be useful for a best action and performance of treatment undertaken. A good diet alone will never be enough to solve hair problems, but it is certain that poor nutrition can worsen the situation of your hair, depriving him of the right nutrients. For men, a good new, many women find sexy a bold or shaved beautiful head ;)

Any Type of Hair: To recover vitality, you can make a mask with 2 spoons of plain yogurt, 2 spoons of honey, one spoon of cream and one ripe and smashed banana. Apply for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. Rinse with vinegar for a Super Shinny hair, my Grandma always did! After washing your hair just soak it in a mixture of water for each part of vinegar and leave for a minute or two. After, rinse with water. As for the type of vinegar to use this is not indifferent as only you can use white vinegar, pineapple vinegar or cider vinegar.

Some Natural and Easy tricks: Straight Hair: Put together one smashed ripe banana with some drops of almond oil. Apply on dry hair and let it for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water to finish with cold water. Curly Hair: On dry hair, cover with vinegar (white vinegar, pineapple vinegar or cider vinegar) and cover with a towel and let it for 20 minutes. Wash normally. The shine in your hair can be also achieved by a rinse with beer. Before it is necessary to let the beer lost, at least one hour, all the carbon dioxide that has accumulated. Do not need more rinse it, when dry the smell of beer will disappear. Dry Hair: Make a paste with ripe banana and avocado, smash them and cover your hair for 15 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.

Finally, Zen Garden suggests a juice and salad that will help from inside at the same time that your palate enjoys: Shiny Hair: Mandarin & Raspberry. Vitamin B helps for healthier hair follicles. Raspberries are good to regenerate your hair. Make the mandarin juice in a juicer and then mix in the blender with some raspberries. Salad to Feed your Hair: Cucumber, Walnuts & Parsley with Yogurt. Selenium and Iron on this refreshing salad. Cut in very thin slices one cucumber, (don’t need to peel, just wash well), cut some walnuts in small pieces, chop a bunch of parsley and put ingredients together in a bowl. Add 2 spoons of plain yogurt and mix well, salt and pepper to taste. You can include some drops of olive oil and mint for a cooler dish. Facebook @ Zen Garden

Dyed Hair: Soak your air with almond oil and let it for 20 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.

GOSSIP

by SHANti

So I had this massive crush on a super hot DJ-designeractor creature of heaven, and he was out surfing one day, bumped his head and didn’t remember much that happened before then. So in order to get things moving along I pretended like we had been hooking up before. Turns out the sex was amazing, like I knew it would be. We were having great amazing casual, and then he wanted me to eff him with a strap-on. I did it, and I kind of liked it. What does this mean? Is he gay? Am I gay? Can I get pregnant from this sort of thing? Anyway, enough about my let’s talk about you freaks. Are fauve female model all bisexual? We heard about a international darling getting naughty on the beach during the night, and the new mixed pearl of fauve kissing a french woman during a dinner… and maybe getting some desert together. Everybody was being quite festive, but of course that is no excuse. We know you like ladies. Is the Skinny Mongolian dating one of the “Chee3”? That’s what everybody is saying. But I asked directly to the Skinny Mongolian and n’est pas vrai, it’s not true! Skinny Mongolian is in love with a 22 year old model from Jakarta. No one knows much about him but we can be sure he’s exquisite. What’s happen to this photographer that is fighting with everybody? Being extremely high maintenance does not mean the photos will automatically come out fantastic. It’s quite clear in this case that you can be fucking talented and have a fucked up mind also! Are we in the Series “Double Exposure?” Only the tropical version… sounds fantastic actually. I’ll call my dad and tell him to tell Scorsese.. We know there will be a big event! Three friends have their birthdays at Petitenget on December the 7th, what will happen again to the fashion world this night? Will I get more info? Oh and I know everyone thought the big bad sexy publisher man moved to the bukit and rented out his room in the party house because everyone thought he had a new babe, but turns out its not true. He is actually off the ladies at the moment and just relaxing, trying to get out of the Seminyak

scene. I told him, people might forget him, there is about a one-month turn around. Hello, social suicide. But also very recluse-chic, he’ll probably be back and better than ever soon. A certain prominent business lady in the media working for a Seminyak magazine doesn’t yet have her kitas, and we are pretty worried for her. We know people who have been followed around and immigration here is seriously well organized. It’s like the most sophisticated part of the government. Get on it honey, make sure you’re not deported! And as for that bubble-headed blondie surfy boy who left you to go back to Sydney, don’t worry, he’s still obsessed. A certain party could living in the house mentioned above, he’s a surf-photog-gone-fashion and she’s model, may or not be expecting a baby. Babies are so in style right now, look what it did for Miranda Kerr! She was on the out and out, pushing 30, and now she’s totally marketable and all in the public eye. Well, we wish you all the best, babies are so hot, make sure you don’t blow out too much, and remember, breast feeding is a great way to lose weight Happy breeding! A certain model-presenter-actress blonde bombshell from the states is up for an international movie where she would get paid the big bucks. It’s the Benazir Bhutto movie, and while rumors are flying around that it’s a Hollywood movie, not exactly. More a chic indie film. We love you and remember us when you get big. Rainy season is upon us, so remember to find a hottie to keep dry with when it won’t stop pouring down for days. There are still a few fun things coming up… we heard it was Beyonce coming to Potato Head for New Years but its M.I.A, so maybe it won’t be too boring. You make your own fun anyway, and my shaman-dietician says it’s this wet season is going to be naughtier than ever. Come back next month to hear about all the good the bad and the hotness. Dont forget to email me guys! shanti.says@gmail.com

PHOTOGRAPHY / ILLUSTRATION / DESIGN

RACHEL MANTIRI A photographer, graphic designer & a mum! she is a “do it all”

BY YONI Born in Jakarta but raised in Sri Lanka, Rachel Mantiri was already a well traveled girl before she moved to Bali in 2011. Originally a Graphic Designer, she tried her luck in Photography and is doing this with much success. I had the pleasure of meeting her at Zen Garden where she showed me her work and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised in how talented this young woman is. Why did you made the move from Graphic Designer to photography? After I finished my high school in Sri Lanka, I moved to Singapore where I studied Visual Communications and start working as a Graphic Designer for a fashion magazine called ‘Catalog’. I have always been interested in Art and Digital Composing but it was at that magazine that I got interested in the world of fashion photography. One day I borrowed my father’s camera and start shooting randomly and felt great passion for it but I am still working as a Graphic Designer. What is it that makes you interested in photography? When I moved to Bali after 6 years in Singapore I lost my camera at the beach and with this my interest for a while. At that time I worked for I-Mag as a Graphic Designer and there my passion for photography gradually grew again as they do a lot of photo shoots. This made me feel like shooting again and being a photographer so I bought a new camera. I have always admired the outcome of photos especially after editing. When I bought my first camera from a client I enjoyed shooting because you can make the world look surreal and not so much of what you see. Is that what makes you different from other photographers? I don’t like to be seen as a regular photographer. In my opinion, most photographers prefer to capture images as close to the real thing. I mix my photos with graphic illustration and transform it into an artwork. Fashion photography is a whole new thing for me, my first job was for a fashion brand called Lulu Yasmine and I had so much fun during that shoot that I got the taste for it and now I want more.

As you mentioned before, you are still a Graphic Designer. That must take up a lot of your time right? Yes, I am still working as a freelance Graphic Designer, Where I built websites for companies and help with their branding by designing logo’s like I am doing now for Fauve Magazine. But the one compliments the other as I combine Graphic Designs with Photography. Talking about time, you are a brand new mum, how do you manage your time with a baby and all? Actually, my son is the driving force behind my career, without him I would never had the courage to be a freelancer. It pushed me in being independent and set my own rules. Motherhood thaught me how to manage my time and my son thaught me how to be a better person. It is hard at times but it’s also a good challenge and challenge is fun. Any plans for the future? Many! But right now I’ve set up my freelance design business and intend to run a proper design agency one day. While also building my portfolio for photography. Luckily I met make-up artist and artistic director Julhenry at the shoot of Lulu Yasmine, he is now helping me to create amazing imagery. We at Fauve Magazine would like to wish Rachel all the best and good luck for her career and everything that she deserves which can only be good things. rachel.mantiri@gmail.com www.rachelmantiri.com

SPIRITUALITY

karma KONVERSATIONS The 21st Century Goddess: mastering your relationships Part 2

by SWATHIMAA

Welcome to another holy season, dear hearts! Along with Hijra, Ashura, Guru Nanak’s b-day, Rohatsu, Hanukkah, and Yule, somewhere in the world, relatives and friends are officially celebrating giving thanks, fortifying themselves, prepping for the birth of the Son of Peace. The pummeling we’ll all endure on Black Friday, irrespective of our celebratory intentions, is not the only irony, though. The casual commercial slaughter of our feathered friends duly noted, it’s also the time of year when most of us feel the most alone.

The heart is a doorway. On the other side stand two energetic paths. One leads to the soul, the other to the head, the mind. The soul is a drop in an ocean of bliss and one with the bliss. The mind is an entirely different thing. What happens between opening our heart and having it broken is…we take the path leading to our heads. We analyze, judge, and interpret our way to a broken heart. In reality, we break our own hearts, no one else does. It’s the same for men. The emotional pain we experience is a direct by-product of thinking, not feeling. Feelings arise from the soul.

But, for now, let’s raise a cup of cheer and ease our way back into our provoking subject! We paused last time at a delicious point: how great women actually make relationships work. We posited our new relationship paradigm: great women walk side-by-side their men, not way ahead or behind. Let’s take it a few steps farther. I’ll go first.

If you’re going to do anything with your mind, expand it. Be positive, creative, and deliciously adventurous.

To walk side-by-side, the path has got to be wide enough. We’ve got to give each other enough room, enough space, to be ourselves and to grow. Nobody thinks about growing when they feel cramped and confined. It’s just too damn distracting. When guys offer, state, scream, or whisper their thoughts on who and how we ‘should’ be, we feel trapped. And, we hate it. Trust me, men feel exactly the same way when we do it to them. Yet, the truth is, we are trapped. But, not by our relationships! We’re trapped in our heads, by our own thoughts and emotional reactions. We narrow the path of our relationships to a space the size of our luxuriously-coiffed noggins. The answer is simple: practice, practice, practice ‘Not Minding’. Ironically, we fret and fume over our own stuff even more than that of our lover’s. Considering how much we bitch and moan about our men (or the lack of them), when we add how often we think badly about ourselves, there’s no time left to actually focus on the relationship. All our internal, daytime kvetching rolls over into dinner, dancing and everything that comes after. If we didn’t mind our own sh*t so much—and theirs—the story of our relationships would be totally different. Not-Minding simply means taking a different tack. Instead of going into your head, master coming from your heart. Your mind will tell you, your heart’s like a delicate flower—easily crushed. It’ll tell you, your heart offers the fantasy of romance but is too deaf-dumb & blind to see the inevitable heartbreak. The mind is just jealous. Where do you think jealousy comes from? Doubts, self-recriminations, anxiety don’t come from the heart.

Which reminds me: spiritually speaking, skin on skin is not a sin. It’s an ancient, if often repressed truth. Virtually every species on God’s green earth is bi-sexual. So, if part of your delicious adventure is seeing if your friend’s breasts feel as yummy as yours (or yummier), go for it. And, if the guy you’re really hot for happens to let his eyes linger on his best buddy’s package, don’t mind. Be smart. Be safe, of course, and know your own boundaries. But, to really know them, you’ve got to test them. All relationships start out as scrumptious cookies, all sweetness, light, and, God-willing, include mouth-watering sex. But, in time, sh*t happens—he belches, scratches himself, or worse, says or does something horribly mean in a casual way—and our head tells us our cookie is starting to crumble. Darling, love isn’t all we put into our relationships. Not by a long shot. We throw all the stuff that’s weighing us down inside as well. As women, as powerful as we are, we share all our fears, confusions, unworthiness, anger, doubts, etc., etc., with our partners and expect them to share the responsibility for them. We do this because we expect love to lighten our load. Both partners do. But, with all this crap to deal with, how will relationships ever be about truth, light, peace, and love? If you’re going to ‘mind’ anything, honestly, mind your own business: the blocks and negative, habitual patterns you carry inside you. Change them. Let them go. Don’t worry over, fret and analyze them ad nauseum. Give yourself (and him) a break: change your mind. Knock it off its thrown. Let your heart and soul usurp your head’s authority. 100% of the time, the soul knows what’s best. 85+% of the time, the mind focuses on what’s wrong. Deal with your own ‘bs’ in private. Realize you’re strong enough to let it all go. And, allow him the same chance. You’ll both adore the results… and each other.

ALTRUISM

BALI PEDULI GET IT RIGHT, BEFORE YOU GET IT WRONG!

BY YONI One of the newest organizations to have established themselves on the island is that of Bali Peduli. Under the guidance of Dr. Steve Wignall MD, an informal group of concerned Bali residents set up this donation and grant funded project in order to tackle the increasing rate of HIV and STI here in Bali. Lack of testing and treatment has lead to the continued transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections that open the door for HIV entry. Dr. Wignall is an HIV physician and clinical researcher, HIV/AIDS/STI expert. Since opening their doors in September 2011, in 13 months of operation the clinic has examined 1,132 new clients (mostly men who have sex with men but over 50 women and heterosexual men, as well) and conducted 2,104 follow up examinations. 14.5% of clients were HIV+; 13% syphilis positive; and, over 40% have additional sexually transmitted infections. The risk for infection among our clients comes from sex not needles. I would use another symbol if you can - a couple hugging would be preferred - so people don’t confuse with injecting drug use transmission. The BALI PEDULI program is offered at Bali Medika Clinic in Kuta, an established general medical clinic managed by trained sexual health expert Dr Yogi Prasetia. Due to the stigma, shame, cost, and service challenges which discourage clients from attending a purpose based clinic, this practice was considered a far better location for the beginning of this project as his general medical clinic provides services to a wide-ranging population of Balinese and International visitors for general medical and sexual health issues. What does BALI PEDULI program offer: The BALI PEDULI program provides an expanded diagnostic and care clinic for individuals at risk for and already infected with HIV and sexually transmitted infections. This idea is modeled on the successful Siloam Clinic at Bangkok Christian Hospital, with the addition of anti-retroviral therapy. The BALI PEDULI program offers and promote friendly, confidential services to MSM (men-who-have-sex-withmen) and all at-risk communities on Bali. The BALI PEDULI program offers early testing and treatment for HIV and sexually transmitted infections; promotion of responsible sexual behaviors; and easy access to high quality medical services currently provided free at no cost to the patient. The BALI PEDULI program offers expanded clinic hours so that individuals can access services without having to take time off from work.

38

The BALI PEDULI program will establish a network of concerned specialists for efficient and timely specialty referral, e.g. if there is a need for surgery, psychological counseling, nutritional advice, or home-based care services. WHAT WILL BALI PEDULI ACCOMPLISH? • Streamlined access to friendly, high quality health services at convenient hours. • More HIV infected patients surviving because of better adherence to meds and better health services • More people accessing antiretroviral medicines early • A vigorous community-based campaign to get people tested for STI, HIV: “Get tested, get treated, get on with your life!” • Increased testing and early treatment of high-risk transmitters helps reduce the chance of more infections • Compassionate care for those who are dying with access to palliative and home care services. Bali Peduli wants to thank its generous donors, NGOs and bars that support the clinic work. This would not have been possible without them. La Lucciola has has hosted two fabulous dinners as did Lewis Norman. Many, many more donated items (Yaz, Magali Pascal, Buddha to Buddha, Niluh Djelantik, Sabbatha…) Villa stays, and more for auctions. The Alere Corporation has donated machines to measure immune status (CD4) and the necessary reagents. DKT has donated condoms and lubricants. The provincial and national government’s provide free medications for HIV and STI, as well as condoms and lubricant. Yayasan Gaya Dewata, Bali Joe and Mixwell bars have promoted safer sexual behaviors and clinic referrals. OZLEM ESEN FASHION STYLIST, SINGER... WHO’s THAT BITCH?

Photo © James Heal 44

BY JULHENRY Ozlem Esen is a freelance fashion stylist and creative artist from Sydney, Australia. When we first checked out work we thought that her creative flair to create complementary outfits and ensembles was incredible and wanted to know more. I was delighted when she agreed to complete an interview for Fauve Magazine. Read on to discover, amongst other things, which fashion designers Ozlem is inspired by! What are you currently working on? Currently I am working on my next solo album with producers Don Albert and Justin Boyd that is my main focus. I am also Designing and consulting for a few different labels. I am very excited about my new jungle and the prospects of a music/artist retreat.... all of my spare time is consumed with collating photos and ideas for that. To know i have a massive playground with no rules on creative direction is super exciting. As always i am styling and art directing on a daily basis which keeps me very busy. Tell us more about your music...... This is my second solo album, the first was recorded with The bumblebeez 81. I am very excited to work with producers Don And Justin. They take perfection to another level. It has been a long process of writing and putting together a tight album but also a lot of fun and a major learning curve for me. I feel like we all have such diverse music backgrounds and tastes, yet when we come together we speak the same language. It has tinges of inspiration from Grace Jones, Massive Attack, SBTRKT, Missy and a lot of old R and B. I cant wait to start touring and to play the album live. by julhenry What does fashion mean to you? Fashion to me foremost is an expression of one’s self. What you wear is just an extension of your personality. For me whatever you wear, the most important aspect is how you feel when you wear it. It is not about what is “in” fashion. It is about who you want to be and how it makes you feel. Somedays I feel girly, hip hop, punk, dark, colourful or over the top….most days i am too hot in Bali to be bothered with what I wear. Fashion for me is never limited to one vibe, I love being in different characters and I love seeing what my favorite people are wearing and how they move and act according to their outfits. Fashion from your hair to the way walk is about confidence and attitude…….. How would you define the style your work exemplifies? In my line of work I have so many different clients and I have to change my style to fit into what they are wanting or what their style is. It is always a challenge when you get booked on a job that is so far from what you are into or even what you like but somehow i get a thrill out of those jobs. Personally my favorite style of work is that which is over the top and more art based when it comes to styling a job. Video clips and magazines that let me have free range to do whatever is always incredible. Nothing beats a job where the client briefs you on what they envision yet then allows you to run wild with an idea. Generally i would say my work has a cheeky, fun edge to it. How do you define great style? A man in a white t shirt and blue jeans with a great walk, a girl in a little black dress, mimimal make up with a smile and an air of confidence, a pair of worn in converse or docs and a second hand t shirt on a guy with attitude, or Jeremy Scott in a ridiculously over the top outfit with an air of mischief . Style is within the person with the attitude to match…….My style icons are a such diverse range of people from Audrey Hepburn, Elvis, James Dean, Chloe Sevigny, Erin Wasson, Bianca JAgger, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, Grace Kelly, Patti Smith, Theophilus London, They are all different characters who play the part of the outfit they choose with attitude, that is true style to me. A whole persona, it may be only the outfit you see but I see the personality filter through…..

Which modern day fashion designers or fashion icons do you look up to and give you inspiration? Galliano, Nicolas Ghesquiere, Riccardo Tisci, Hussein Chalayan, Romance was Born designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales. These are all designers that have pushed the envelope and raised the bar of what is possible in my opinion. Vivian Westwood is another designer who blew me away after I read her biography on the way she shaped the punk scene and pushed the boundaries. Anybody who is creating anything new, in that it is also what they truly love and get lost in.That is the kind of stuff that inspires and excites me People who are true to their work, take risks and are not afraid to make things that nobody will get but they believe in ….thats is what resonates and grabs my attention,,,,, People who play safe to only make money and complain about how much they hate the fashion industry saddens me. Fashion is a form of art to me, if you don’t create art you love or even like then you should think about what it is you really want to be doing. I love the risk takers in the fashion game! Mostly i love watching Galliano walk out onto the runway after his shows, he walks better than the models! Did you always want to be a stylist and when did you realize you were really good at it? Not at all, i just fell into styling and art directing. My grandmother had great style and could make something look amazing from nothing. Growing up i would watch her like it was magic the way she made the most mundane scarf come to life , the way she twisted it and tied it in her hair. The way my auntie would take an old piece of material and turn it into a beautiful skirt with an old gold brooch pinned to the side. I am blessed I had some great woman in my life with imagination. I guess from them I grew a love for vintage shopping and turning somebody’s unwanted pieces into my treasures for myself and friends. I would get asked to help friends get dressed for events and make outfits for them from junk lying around the house. This all lead to into magazines, labels, fashion shows and bla bla bla You’ve worked with numerous personalities and built quite a portfolio, What can we expect from you in the future? Over the top outfits for my stage shows. A jungle paradise that has all the crazy artists i have ever met or worked with from around the world making music, sculptures, painting, skating the river ramp, building tree houses and simply hanging out creating shit we think is cool and fun..... More music more fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How would you define your personal style? In bali of late my style motto is “whatever doesn’t make you sweat” my day to day wear is singlet’s and t shirts an minimal clothing….. If I was in LA, Sydney or Tokyo id be wearing a lot of leather, tights over the top headpieces and lots of layering.I love mixing cheap pieces with classic designer wear and throwing it off with one large statement piece. My style changes from where I am to what I am doing. I cannot wait for my shows so I can unleash my alter ego and go crazy with costumes I would never have a reason to wear.

What advice would you give to budding stylists? Be original, know your client and what they are wanting, don’t be afraid to try something new, don’t over accesorise where it is not needed…..have fun on shoots!!!

MUSIC

Photo © Serena Hitchcock

DJ NIiNA one of our famous dj in town

So how did it all begin? It all begin having music as a hobby & big passion, being surrounded with people involved with club’s, dj’s, club owners, party go’ers and so on. Mid 90’s in Sweden...

So how is the scene in your eyes at the moment? - So many new talented DJ’s and producers are stepping out, whole new generation, music is evolving so we have few new genres to play with again

Which other countries have you played/put parties on? I have played Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Dubai, Italy, Greece, Finland, Sweden, Belarus, Lithuania, Germany just to name a but a few.

Where do you live? I am a bit of a nomad, Bali has been my solid point for a while.

What’s the best event you’ve played at/put on? All the events are good in different ways, I guess my resident years at Double Six / Bali could be the times many good nights were born as well. What was your first record you bought? I think it was something with Happy Mondays, Stone Roses and 808 State Out of all the tunes you have, which one ‘never fails?’ Pretty much depends where you are playing / the event... What’s you favorite tune of all time? Age of Love was brilliant, Donna Summer’s I feel love, they are so many When all the partying is over how do you like to chill out? Have time for myself, stay home, do sports, cook

How big is your vinyl collection? What do you think of CDJ’s? I have vinyl here in Indonesia and still also in Sweden, hard to say. Due my frequent travelling I have to follow the evolution of possibilities to play with all the new technology. Computers, Cd’s, USB’s are just a different ways to carry my music with me, you still have to play it! Having the computer in front of you does not mean it does the job for you, the new CD players gives you opportunity & time to be more creative with your sets. Who’s throwing the best parties at the moment? DC 10 Ibiza is always great ;) What are your feelings on the MC’s? Great MC is good to have around. What do you do outside of the dance music scene? I am a graphic designer / creative director on my back ground What advice would you give to up and coming DJs/Promoters? Get your stuff out there, focus on what you think is your way to do the things and be consistant. www.djniina.com

TO LOOK AFTER

These little things they do… ...can end up a big issue

by THARR GYI

“My name is Brandon Joseph Elizeres and I couldn’t make it. I love you guys with all my heart”. A 16 year old from El Paso, Texas wrote in his suicide note. His recent death has added yet another number in already staggering statistics of gay teen suicides. Reading his story in the news not only breaks my heart into pieces but also brings back my own painful memories of my bullied past.

Cyber bullying Today, kids are facing even more challenging circumstances such as cyber bullying. Many gay teens have taken their own lives because they were outed against their will or threatened online on sites such as Facebook and Twitter by their bullies. It may perhaps start out as a joke or a prank in many cases but it has led to deaths of many.

Name-calling “A chaught, A chaught” chant the boys from my 7th grade class from the back of a school bus as it leaves. I am frozen standing there on the street feeling powerless and defeated. I know all eyes are on me; my classmates, their parents and teachers. I begin to feel this certain sensation on my face, a slight tingling burn that slowly eats away my entire body.

The bully issue has been addressed, highlighted and widely covered in the media nowadays. Celebrities are speaking out about their own experiences reaching out to teens through YouTube and social media with campaigns like “It Gets Better” or “The Trevor Project”. Schools and teachers are very well informed and equipped with skills to deal with this issue. Yet there are many teens who could not find their way out and instead chose this tragic path. We cannot afford another dead child, another victim of this heinous crime. This has got to stop.

This nasty word, “A chaught”, which means ‘sissy’ in my language, is the term I loathe the most. But unfortunately, I was called “A chaught”, among many other things, more often than my own name during my younger days. Once my fourth grade teacher called me that in front of the entire class which needless to say ignited the roar of laughter while I sank deeper and deeper into a puddle of shame. No one ever came to my defense. Culturally, homosexuality is very much a taboo subject in all of Asia and people refuse to even discuss or acknowledge it. In fact my own beloved parents and teachers blamed me for my effeminate behavior and girly voice as though I deserved all the bullying and mockery that I received on daily basis. They instead made me feel that it was nobody but me who brought it upon myself. I dealt with it in the best possible way I could, luckily for me, I somehow pulled through and today, I could say these painful experiences have made me a stronger person. Yes, I never experienced any assault or abuse physically for being gay but these emotional scars I endured are here to stay.

56 56

Straight boys around gay boys Maybe it is our hairstyles or the clothes we wear or simply that pink energy that oozes out of us gay men constantly. I can’t help but notice that many straight guys are uncomfortable around gay men. At the gym I go to, there is a group of muscular (visibly) straight boys, in their early twenties. Some of them appear to be very sure of themselves and they tend to overplay their masculinity especially when they are aware some of us are there. They pretend to be busy Bro-ing, Dude-ing and mostly talking to each other in loud Bass tone that not many can quite figure out. For whatever reason they do it, it looks quite unnatural and utterly unnecessary. Sometimes my eyes would meet with one of theirs, but only to see him immediately avoid my gaze and do something completely awkward like letting out a macho sounding “Yeaaah!” or give his friend yet another high five or body bump. It is really fascinating to watch their discomfort of being in the vicinity of a gay man. Is our gayness, though not always visible by human eyes, a threat to

their shaky masculinity? Or are they scared that we would hit on them? Many of us will shamelessly admit that it is one of our fantasies but honestly not all of us, not always. Once I bumped into a seemingly straight guy in the lockers, I didn’t pay attention at first minding my own business. But I will never forget the horror on the guy’s face when he saw me nonchalantly take out my flamingo pink iPod with lavendercolored headphones. Dude! What the heck was that? Well, calm down! Pink is a color like black, red, yellow or white. Colors have no official meanings, do they? Although an incident like this is nothing more than a good chuckle, the power of stereotyping is undeniably a lot deeper. A stereotype like this comes from our homes where our parents recklessly instill the notion in us that pink is for girls, blue is for boys. Stereotypes, as tiny as this, promote misrepresentation, intolerance and phobia. They eventually lead to bigger problem like heterosexism, if not, worse, homophobia. Just some random comment, I don’t mean it really! “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world! They are disgusting, dude! Most of them probably have AIDS” Paris Hilton was caught making this comment and once again in the news for the wrong reason a few months ago. She built a career on her dumb blond persona but I do not presume she is really that dumb but absolutely reckless. Many heterosexuals like her occasionally and causally make comment like this and then later apologize, laugh it off or claim it is merely a joke. Little do they know that they are feeding this monster called “homophobia” until it grows and grows? Be straight but please… not narrow!

All for a good laugh “James is gay” “Tom is gay” “Nathan is gay” say the stickers on sale at tourist souvenirs shops on Raya Seminyak road. There are many names, all male, to choose from. Needless to say, we know which kind of tourists buy this sort of crap. Get the one with your mate’s name. Mount it on his back when he’s not looking then we call have a good laugh. Right? We live in the world that is specifically designed for heterosexuals, the big majority, which accidentally but effectively make us, the minority, feel handicapped in many ways. All around us, there are still many who presume everyone is heterosexual and same-sex attraction or relationships are abnormal. In 2012, time has changed and the situation has tremendously improved. Hit TV shows like “Glee” and “Modern Family” are educating millions about tolerance, acceptance and antidiscrimination. It’s very common to see LGBT characters in the mainstream media today. There are openly gay celebrities, politicians, leaders and sports stars to look up to and draw inspiration from. Countries and governments are hard at work to wipe out homophobia, the ugly thing we can soon refer to as a thing of the past. I’d like to quote Hilary Clinton to sum up, from her recent history-making speech on Gay rights. “Being gay is a human reality. Gay people are born into and belong to every society in the world. They are all ages, all races, all faiths; they are doctors and teachers, farmers and bankers, soldiers and athletes; and whether we know it, or whether we acknowledge it, they are our family, our friends, and our neighbors”

YEANNE Famous Make up & Hair do Team in Bali, All about her talented team

BY YONI You have worked in the fashion industry for quite some time now but when did you decide to become a make-up artist?

Most women apply make-up as we all like to look good and feel beautiful but how important is it to remove make-up?

At first I wanted to be a jewelry designer but six months after I moved to Bali eight years ago a friend of mine introduced me to an Australian woman named Bobby, she was and still is a well known make-up artist. She took me in and I assisted her to do make up for brides and bridesmaids, usually she did the bride and I did the bridesmaids. Along the way I learned to do hair as well. After working 1,5 year for Bobby, I decided to study at Cosmo Prof Academy to become a Profession Make Up Artist and that’s how it all started.

Oh, it is very important. We put all kinds of products on our faces and at the end of the day your face needs a chance to breathe and relax and be able to do so, it needs to be clean. The best time to clean your face is at the end of the day or before you go to bed, it then has the whole night to rest and heal and be fresh in the morning.

You use to have a lot of collaboration with fashion designers but now I see you are more dedicated to weddings, why this change?

Here in Indonesia, a lot of women tend to put too much foundation on and in a different color than to their own skin tone. If you like to achieve a flawless finish you need to get the right concealer and liquid color foundation, especially in countries with tropical weather. In my opinion it is not necessary to put heavy oil based foundation on. I do understand why women use it, everybody likes to look beautiful and want to cover up their imperfections but if you put too much on it soon starts to become, as I call it, ‘Masky’ as if you wearing a mask so my motto is ‘less is best’ let the natural beauty shine through it.

When I started working after I finished school, that time there were not many make-up artists here in Bali. After a while, fashion designers recognized my work and asked for my portfolio. I have worked with Magali Pascal, Buddha Wear, Lulu Yasmin and more but demand of doing make-up for weddings grew bigger and bigger and along the way I specialized myself in weddings so basically I got back where I started. Fashion is fun but I prefer this in Jakarta where it is, for me, a bit more exciting. But besides doing weddings I also do work for magazines such as Maxx bride, Destination, Dream Wedding Bali Style Magazine and sent my team to the theatre of Bali Agung in Bali Safari and Marine Park. You have now your own business with a team of girls, do you train them yourself? Yes, I train them myself so I can remain my style for people to recognize. Because the demand of weddings grew so big, I needed help and hired a team of 5 girls who are all amazing in make-up and hair. I had the pleasure of working with you a couple of times and I noticed that you are a very spiritual woman who is in touch with herself and the nature that surrounds you, what seems to inspire you?

What is the biggest mistake women make when they apply make-up on their selves?

Let’s talk about weddings some more, you are in a way responsible for the most important day of a woman’s life, how does that make you feel? When I first started I was very nervous because I didn’t know the expectations of women here in Bali but after eight years of being in this business, you kind of get the hang of it. And now, I look forward to make the bride look beautiful on her special day, when she is happy, I am happy and that just makes my day. What is it that you do when you are not working? I love to read books and relax or sweat it out in the gym. I would like to travel more and make it a part of my future job as destination shooting. Besides that I represent Make Up Store and sell it here in Bali, but that’s still work I guess… Facebook @ Yeanne Make UP Art

It is beauty what inspires me, beauty in people. Be able to match that beauty from the inside with the outside.

Aries There is change in the air this month and if you’ve been contemplating a change in look or a fresh approach, you’ll find it almost impossible to resist this week, with change coming in spite of you. This is being whipped up by a total solar eclipse mid week, creating the confidence to take some bold leaps of faith. Whether it’s just a few small changes here and there or a complete makeover you’ll find the confidence to walk the talk this month.

Libra In his final days in your communication sector the Sun is working to maximise all that the solar eclipse 5 days ago triggered and today he has access to the driving forces behind your relationships and the sense of authenticity and direction that goes with this. With conditions improving dramatically on the romantic and relationship fronts it’s not only important to have the communication lines open, but in a real and authentic way.

Taurus While the Sun is just few days away from leaving your relationship sector Venus, planet of love is just few days away, effortlessly passing the baton from one to the other. When Venus returns the reality checks will end and you’ll experience some of the most enjoyable relationship weeks of the year, but until then the Sun is working to make sure those reality checks hit home, with some maybe even hitting too close to home.

Scorpio Just few days before the Sun is due to leave your sign and bring one of your most powerful birthday months in a decade to an end, he aligns with the North Node, the force responsible for the solar eclipse 5 days ago and the force that will keep you on track for the next 15 months. This brings you face to face with your most authentic path forward but it’s also likely to create some personal and/or relationship tension, as it brings a need for authenticity on both fronts.

Gemini Just 5 days after a total solar eclipse in your work sector brought things to a head the Sun aligns with the North Node here, the force behind the eclipse. As this is just the start of a powerful chapter on the work front, one that stretches out as far as 2015, this throws the solar spotlight on the mechanics at work and also to any potential pitfalls. This is a month for reality checks and for focusing on ‘what is’, while realising that you can’t reach your full potential with your head in the sand.

Sagittarius Having the Moon in your income sector as Mars, planet of passion and the warrior planet of the cosmos returned 2 days ago ensured that you had a nose for money, your finger on the pulse and your ear to the ground from the get go. As the Moon moves on hold onto the insights gained over the last few days, especially as you’re likely to be moving into warrior mode, with a need to pick your battles wisely.

Cancer Mars’ departure from your work sector few days ago has left it temporarily empty, giving you a chance to focus more on your personal life at what is a defining point on both the romantic and relationship fronts. As the Moon wraps up his visit to your relationship sector that helped ease Mars’ entry 2 days ago and with the Sun just 3 days away from leaving your romantic sector, this is a day for keeping your eyes open and for keeping it real on both fronts. Leo Just few days before the Sun is due to leave your home and family sector he’s shining the spotlight on what is really driving things on the home and family front and also on any work/life balance. This comes just as the Moon is wrapping up his visit to your work sector that helped welcome Mars in just few days ago, kicking off some of the busiest weeks since 2010, that won’t run their course until next February. Virgo It was just 5 days ago that a total solar eclipse in your income sector brought everything to a head, but it’s only today that the Sun reaches a point where he’s able to shine the solar spotlight directly into the force behind that eclipse. It’s the Sun’s alignment with the North Node in your income sector but opposition with the South Node in your financial sector that might also create some financial tension, but in the process brings an enormous amount of clarity on both fronts.

Capricorn In the Sun’s final days in your sector of friendship, teamwork and networking there is a sense of authenticity in the air this month that is not only naturally drawing you towards the right people and situations, but is also revealing any necessary wakeup calls. This is a month when it’s likely to be obvious who has your back and who doesn’t and who is not only genuine but is on the same wave link or the same journey. Aquarius Just 3 days before the Sun is due to leave your career sector he aligns with the North Node here today, the force behind the total solar eclipse 5 days ago. This is the closest you’ll get to looking right into the eye of the force that will keep this powerful new professional era on track for the next 15 months, making it important to keep your eyes open and your head out of the sand. This is also likely to spotlight any work/life balance issues. Pisces When Mars left your career sector 2 days ago he left it empty, but with the Sun now just 3 days away that won’t be the case for long and it won’t be the case again until after the New Year. This gives you a chance to take your professional hat off and focus on life’s other matters and also for keeping your mind and your options open. Focus for now on embracing a sense of adventure, exploring what’s out there and embracing your passions.
