Bianca Beers is a Sydney-based illustrator, designer and creative. Having launched her art career in early 2015, Bianca has become an unstoppable force working with the likes of Nike, Puma, Sony and more, bouncing between Sydney and New York in the chase for her bi-continental dream. Before bravely going full time as an artist only year ago, Beers divided her time between her art and as a retail assistant, and surprisingly misses it. “You'd think I'd be happy to say good riddance, but sometimes I consider going back to it for one or two days a week, just for the fun of it!” With her love of colour and fashion, and an emphasis that has always been on fun, Beers has developed her own style of urban-inspired art, which is both vibrant and refreshing. “I have always been drawn to art that makes me feel good. I don’t care much for looking at dark or depressing things!” Taking inspiration from all styles and eras, she tends to lean towards more detailed and abstract works that are almost always bold, bright and colourful. “I like stuff with character.” Beers would love the freedom to try her hand at different styles and mediums but believes it can be difficult to marry such an experimental approach with an artists’ goal of achieving a signature style. A trap for many an upcoming artist. When asked what her dream project would be, she’s dreaming BIG.“Some time in the near future I would LOVE to collaborate with a label like Prada or Gucci to create print designs for a season - that would be an amazing challenge!” When asked about the best advice she has been given, the two that have stuck with her are“Just do it” and “Be yourself”. WOMAN
Words by multi award winning portrait photographer and Creator of the upcoming exhibtion “WOMAN”, Nicole McCluskey. Women over 40 are currently experiencing the highest levels of global visibility they have ever had. It is a massive concept, which seems too incredible to be truly happening, but it is, history is unfolding before our eyes every single day! Today the largest group of consumers in the world is women over 50. The current purchasing power of women over 50 makes it impossible for the world to ignore them and this is something amazing that must be celebrated. Thanks to an economic anomaly, we are now witnessing the next stage of feminist revolution. Though every ounce of female advancement is hard fought, I like to think of this as the second accidental female revolution, of the likes we have not seen since World War II. As I watched the recent economic conditions fan the flames of incredible change, I thought of those brave wartime women entering the factories. Imagine how much guts that would have taken. My mind pondered this one thought, what if they knew that by trading the frilly apron for factory overalls that they were helping to create the first female CEO! Without those women the economy would have struggled - possibly even ground to a halt. An economic anomaly sparked an accidental female revolution which was proceeded by massive action over many decades, which has paved the way to a forever broken glass ceiling. As I watched the recent economic conditions fan the flames of swift change, I thought of those brave wartime women entering the factories, it must have taken so much guts. My mind pondered this one thought; what if they knew by trading the frilly apron for factory overalls, they were creating the first female CEO! Would having this knowledge impact their lives and how they felt about themselves? Would it put a spring in their step as they headed out to a days work, knowing that by doing this they were changing the world forever? Moreover would it inspire them, empower them, spur them to action and thus would change have happened faster?? This was the driving force behind me creating WOMAN. After all what does it mean to empower women? Information is power. So lets empower as many women as we possibly can! Being a beauty photographer I was working with many of the key women being selected for the history making
campaigns. Marian Moneymaker at 64 walking the runway at NY fashion week for Ralph Lauren, it was incredible. All this change happening, yet so few people seemed aware of its significance, not even the models walking the front line of the revolution. So with the hope of triggering a sense of global realisation I started to build a world first exhibition. A celebration of the global visibility of women over 40 for the first time in history. This celebration lead by a massive collective of female energy, every inspiring, powerful woman I can gather. We are now 12 months later, with me photographing the most inspiring women in the world and the best International female portrait artists painting them. 6 portraits already complete and 8 are in progress. Our major sponsor being the Art Gallery of NSW and prime partner the AGNSW’s program the Fearless initiative. It has been a huge machine, which organically evolves with every passing week. Our artist pool led by Australian artist Kathrin Longhurst keeps growing, the stars so far include; Shana Wilson, Marie Mansfield, Loribelle Spirovski, Sally Ryan, Kirsty Neilson, Jessica Ashton and Mary Jane Ansell I myself, am a multi award winning portrait photographer, whilst living in the outback of WA I studied a double degree in Womens studies and Psychology before embarking on my photography career. I have always found this colours my approach to portrait, fashion and beauty photography. Personally, I like to dig deep and capture the essence of the women I shoot. It was so important to me when constructing this exhibition to present a diverse collection of inspiring women from all walks of life. This has guided the selection of the women I am photographing and more importantly the women being painted. A part of this exhibition is the big reveal at the end, so the names of the women, especially the women being painted will not be revealed. I can say we have supermodels, a beloved holocaust surviver, a concert pianist/medical doctor who has just discovered a new form of medicine, a dancer still dancing at 104, domestic violence survivors, actresses both Australian and international and so may more. A main focus of the exhibition is to touch on issues that so many women face, with themes of triumph over adversity. Domestic violence, sexual assault, ageism, tragedy, transgender, anorexia, addiction, cancer, with the focus on women who have faced and triumphed over these issues. We needed to present inspiring women who have incredible stories.
FÊN HÓNG SÈ MAGAZINE • 42
The WOMAN website launched on March 8th, International Womens Day and it will house the collective voice of every woman involved on its blog pages. The most incredible aspect to this exhibition is the powerful collective female energy it represents. In the past as a women aged past 40 she typically faded into the background, rendered both faceless and voiceless. WOMAN endeavours to represents not just the faces of women over 40 but their collective booming female voice. I want WOMAN to speak to every woman, I want it to make a noise so big its heard by and has the opportunity to inspire women in third world countries. By spotlighting this very special time in history, I aim to empower and inspire women of all ages. My deepest desire is that if enough women work together and combine their power, talent and energy, we can together take a current trend and create an enduring culture. Imagine a world where women are never devalued because of age. Imagine a world without that incessant, toxic clock ticking in the back of your mind.
Let’s blow up the clock!!

Wiradjuri woman Kristy Dickinson is the designer behind Australian label, HAUS OF DIZZY. She launched HAUS OF DIZZY in 2015 and since then, the label has grown a cult following for her bold, often nostalgic and sometimes political statement pieces. Her collections are conversation starters, so in the name of conversation we have been in touch with Kristy to ask her a few questions about her label. Could you tell us how “HAUS OF DIZZY” was born. Haus of Dizzy was born out of a passion I have for fashion and accessories. I found myself I between jobs and wanting to have my own business. I began small by selling at Glebe Markets and now 5 years on I am stocked in over 15 stores throughout Australia and 2 store in America. I have also done collaborations with lots of celebrities and local charities. You have an eclectic mix of aesthetics when it comes to your pieces, can you tell us who and what inspires you. Which do you draw from most? I love anything from the 80’s and 90’s fashion and I’m currently working on a project with the Melbourne Museum where I’m collaborating with one of my favourite designers ‘Jenny Bannister’ who is great inspiration to me and who I will finally get the chance to meet. How has HAUS OF DIZZY evolved since you started? Which direction have you taken that wasn’t planned but is now an integral part of the label? When I first started I based all my pieces on pop culture, but then I found a way to include my Indigenous culture which is now one of my best selling ranges. You have added your political voice into the label (which we absolutely love), giving the people who love HAUS OF DIZZY another way to protest & make their voices heard through everyday fashion. Can you tell us what the initial intention was or did design allow you to find your political voice?
Design definitely allowed me to find my political voice and to make what I call my conversation starters. I’m so happy that I can be part of a movement where is such a shift of people who were not normally heard are standing up and expressing their opinion. You describe yourself as the “Queen of Bling” (which you totally are), can you tell us what is your go to statement piece and what super power this piece gives you when you put it on. Definitely my women power earrings I love them so much! What is your long term goal for HAUS OF DIZZY. Do you have a 10 year plan or is it more of letting it grow organically and see where it takes you? I don’t like to plan too much and I love the idea of the business growing organically. But I have just moved to a new office/studio in Collingwood and have hired staff finally! So onwards and upwards. If you could choose anyone to collaborate with, who would it be? Jeremy Scott! Describe HAUS OF DIZZY in one sentence. FANCY AS FUCK!

“As Picasso said “don’t let the muses catch you sleeping”. Inspiration can come from
anywhere, from anything I see, either in real life or on the Internet, which is an inexhaustible source. Then, it’s all drawing, drawing, drawing... many hours in front of the paper and many red marker pens spent: talent with no effort is useless.”
Bruno Santin is a portrait artist based in Ponferrada, Spain. With his love of the colour red, a colour he describes as an intense colour, full of strength and personality, his works easily stand out from others by the use of this colour throughout his collection of ilustrations.
“If you look at my fashion illustrations, girls are always redheads with wavy hair, they remind me a little of the pre-Raphaelite women that I love. I love redheads! It is also a way to create a personal touch, something very important to me if you’re an artist: someone sees a picture or portrait and thinks: “This portrait is from this guy I follow in Instagram”. Using red is a way to find that personal touch, to differentiate myself from other portrait artists who use the entire palette. I draw bearded men with red marker pen, and I really like the result, it has strength, and I think it is different too, in these times of globalization it is good to draw in a different way, to do different things, and to be different !!” Santin studied at the School of Art in León graduating with honours in Textile Art and Design and after working in many artistic fields, it was his love of portrait and fashion illustration that he is most comfortable. He does also enjoy collage art, he has had numerous exhibitions, both collectively and individually, of his collages, although none so far with illustrations of his girls and bearded men. To see more of Bruno’s work, you can follow him on the below links.
