Fernie Family Acupuncture There are many reasons I was drawn back to Fernie, and what stands out after family, is the mountains and the feeling of security they provide, much like being cradled by Mother Earth. Growing up in Fernie, as a child, one looks up to those supernatural creatures and they represent everything that is possible. To me, the physical nature of the valley and mountains embody Spirit of soaring aspiration.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
In relation to my career in health and wellness, that aspiration is to see the health and wellness community grow in the direction of inclusivity – inclusivity that honours people who make different choices for their health. My field of work is what some consider alternative medicine, but I have always been drawn to ancient forms of healing and what is alternative to one, is foundational to another. Fernie seemed like an obvious choice given the strong connection to the powers of nature and since I have arrived, the support from the community has been astounding. My own spiritual growth has been exponential and I am grateful for the inclusivity intrinsic to the community here. Q. We live in the Elk Valley because… A. Because it is beautiful. This is the valley my grandfather chose for his family to settle in. Q. Summer in Fernie is so special because…
Q. Something we make sure to do each summer in the valley (at least once!) is... A. Hike to at least one of the magical waterfalls, better yet, two! Q. One Fernie secret we are willing to share is... A. The Elk Valley, The Land of the Raven, is healing. Make sure to walk barefoot on the Land and to get dirt on your hands and under your fingernails often.
Visitors and residents alike are known to go hard this time of year to fit it all in and experience all that Fernie has to offer. From the abundance of recreational opportunities, to the plethora of culinary experiences, to the many shopping, dining and entertainment options… whatever it is you are going hard at, you may find that a little balance is needed. You will find solutions to all of your health and lifestyle needs while here, and enjoy the process.
A. It is by far the most incredible place to be. The energy and air are intoxicating; you know, when the air is still, just warm enough, and the mountains are a black silhouette against a mid-summer night sky.
