New OMNI Television National Scholarships Build on Rogers Sports & Media’s Commitment to Increasing Diverse Voices

TORONTO (February 17, 2021) Cultivating the next generation of journalists and empowering upcoming content creators to tell stories – in their voices – that are relevant to Canada’s diverse communities is a key area of focus for Rogers Sports & Media. As part of this ongoing commitment, OMNI Television will award $60,000 in scholarships over the next three years to post-

secondary students across Canada who are pursuing careers in ethnic and third-language journalism. “The global pandemic has reinforced how critical ethnic and third-language media is when it comes to engaging Canada’s multicultural communities with the latest news and information, and we believe the OMNI scholarship program will inspire more diverse young

he Gimli Film Festival (GFF) is excited to re-launch the Manitoba Home Movie Archive, through which Manitobans can now register to have their old home movies transferred to digital for free! This second intake of registration was made possible through Safe at Home Manitoba, and will be available until the end of March 2021. The Archive has also been made possible through funding from The Asper Foundation and The Winnipeg Foundation! In the spring of last year, GFF launched the Manitoba Home Movie Archive as a fun and free activity for families to engange in during the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Project offered the unique opportunity for Manitobans to have their home movies transferred to digital video files, free of charge! Folks from across Manitoba responded and GFF was able to process dozens of 8mm films, 16mm films and video

The new national scholarship program will award 10 scholarships of $2,000 each annually to students at universities and colleges. Students can visit omnitv.ca/scholarships to find out details and how to apply. This year’s scholarships will be awarded in August. In addition to the launch of OMNI’s national scholarship program, Sportsnet also celebrates the first recipients of the Sportsnet Diversity and Gender Equity Initiative in partnership with Ryerson University’s Faculty of Communications & Design (FCAD) – home to the RTA School of Media, Global Experiential Sport Lab (GXSLab) and sport media research. Announced last January and launched in Fall 2020, the initiative empowers students from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in sport media. Sportsnet committed $100,000 to provide scholarships to four students – two high-performing third-year students and two students entering the program – who identify

as a woman, Indigenous, and/or a member of an equity-seeking group. The recipients of the 2020 Sportsnet Diversity and Gender Equity Initiative scholarships are Ella Bonaldi, Joshua Kim, Rania Elihali and Vanessa Catanzaro. Today’s announcements highlight Rogers Sports & Media’s proud role in teaming up with Canadian universities and colleges to support and empower future media talent. Other partnerships include OMNI scholarships with the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Simon Fraser University, and KiSS 92.5’s

ANCOP Faith, Hope & Love Concert on Valentine's Day

T

he virtual concert featured talented individuals and groups from Canada, US, Philippines, and other parts of the world, all coming together to help raise funds and awareness for ANCOP. This concert is the brainchild and dream of Dr. Tricia Magsino Barnabé, a Filipina from Winnipeg with tremendous talent, only equalled by her heart. In December 2019, Tricia showcased a Christmas concert series, “A Million Dreams, a Benefit for ANCOP.” Following the success of that series – and due to popular demand - Tricia wanted to do even more, and with the help of friends and family, has put together more individuals and groups that will be performing a virtual concert on Valentine’s Day!! Faith, Hope, and Love was a virtual event hosted and broadcasted on Zoom (via YouTube) last weekend on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2021. The 90 minuted concert featured entertainment from Canada, the USA and the Philippines and a way of helping your Kababayans in the Philippines and others as far away as Africa, through ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor) by allowing the supply of housing for the poorest of the poor, educational scholarships, and livelihood programs. Vickar Automotive Group was the presenting sponsor and extremely involved in the good work of ANCOP through the building of two villages and making three trips to the Philippines over the years.

Jets Report

Winnipeg Jets Quarterly Report By Ryan Reyes

W

ith just a hair over a quarter of the NHL season completed the Winnipeg Jets find themselves sitting in 3rd place in the North Division with a record of 9 wins, 5 loses and 1 overtime loss after 15 games. Their 19 points accumulated and 2 games in hand gives them little breathing room over 4th place Edmonton. Let’s break down each facet of the Jets organization and grade their performance so far. Forwards: A Everyone knows Winnipeg has a strong forward group but this group has performed even better than most have anticipated. Offensively speaking they have been very productive and have enabled the Jets to score 3.53 goals per game, tied for fifth in the league; just a tiny sliver behind the Flyers(3.54). Although Wheeler, Scheifele and Connor’s defensive metrics are lackluster, their offensive output continues to make up for it. The ever-versatile Copp and dependable big-man Lowry have both levelledup offensively. Ehlers in my humble opinion is the Jets MVP with his team-leading 10 goals, +11 +/rating and wonderful forays into the offensive zone. Appleton and Perreault have contributed lately to the scoresheet and Stastny has been effective. Dubois hasn’t contributed much in the 2 games he’s played but there were a couple moments that highlighted his speed and playmaking. Defence: C The biggest question this off-season was if the Jets defence corps was good enough to help them get to the playoffs. Lack of any true top pairing defencemen, not enough depth on the right side and an abundance of fringe starters and young prospects didn’t inspire much confidence. We’ve seen both Morrissey and DeMelo play better. Perhaps more reps will get them back on track. Pionk and Forbort have been a revelation. Pionk has been utilized in nearly every situation: 5-on-5, power play, shutdown… and Forbort has been solid. They have supplanted Morrissey & DeMelo as the top pairing. Winnipeg’s third pair has seen Stanley(he did fine), Beaulieu(PoMo loves his grit but…), and Poolman(just soso) as of late and in short it makes you wonder when that Heinola kid or even perhaps Samberg will be given a shot.

Goaltending: B+ The Jets goaltending has kept them in games as much as their offence has won them games if that makes any sense. Hellebuyck and Brossoit faced an average of 32.4 shots per game(tied for 5th most) but it sure felt like many more than that on some nights! It took Helle a few games to settle in. And even though there have been a couple of weak goals, he’s made enough high-danger saves for me to say he’s done well for us. There’s still room for improvement, a good thing. Brossoit has been fine this year posting a .918 save percentage and a 2-1 record. Coaching & Management: BIt took Paul Maurice a couple of games longer than it should have to break up the defensively weak Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler line and his decision to go with 11 Forwards and 7 Defencemen was an unconventional and ineffective one during Winnipeg’s 2-1 loss to Ottawa last week. Keeping Beaulieu on the playing squad is a head-scratcher. But we have to give him kudos for giving Stanley a chance and moving Copp to the top line too. Chevy executed a fair trade with Columbus that helped out both teams; and 3 parties if you will(Laine, Roslovic, Dubois). In Chevy we trust, right? Overall: B The Jets have performed better than hockey analysts and their preseason polls have predicted. But we all knew they were going to! If they can tighten up defensively, prevent late-game breakdowns and continue their offensive consistency then we’ll be talking about more than just making the playoffs later on in the season...

COVID-19 VACCINE BULLETIN #40

On March 5, two new immunization super sites will launch – one in Selkirk and the other in Morden-Winkler area. These sites will deliver vaccine to eligible Manitobans and also serve as a distribution hub for Focused Immunization Teams (FITs) and pop-up clinics. Further details will be released in the coming days. This expansion increases the number of super sites in Manitoba to six, with plans to expand to 13 super sites throughout the province in April. There are more than 1,400 congregate living facilities with nearly 23,000 residents located throughout the province. Now that additional vaccine is available, FIT teams will continue the process of providing first-dose immunizations to residents of high-priority sites starting in Winnipeg and Brandon on Feb. 19 and will visit other locations in the coming weeks, following a schedule that helps ensure higher-risk individuals are immunized as quickly as possible. 150 MANITOBA CHAMPIONS WINNIPEG , February 17, 2021

I

n early 2020, Honour 150, presented by Canada Life, invited Manitobans to recognize people from across the province who give back to the community and enrich the places in which we live, work, play, and come together in unity. The Manitoba 150 Host Committee (Manitoba 150) is excited to announce the 150 Manitobans selected to receive this Honour. Nominated by people from their own communities, Manitoba 150 is delighted to be able to recognize 150 outstanding people from across Manitoba who represent a variety of ages, experiences, and community roles.

The recipients range from teenagers to centenarians, with a vast array of volunteer engagements. These 150 Manitobans are making a difference. “In these unprecedented times, the stories of these 150 Manitobans demonstrate the resilience, hope, and selflessness that make our province strong. Their achievements reflect the amazing deeds that have contributed to Manitoba’s reputation as one of the most generous province in Canada. We have never been prouder to call ourselves Manitoban,” said Monique LaCoste and Stuart Murray, Co-Chairs of Manitoba 150. To share their stories, Red River College students worked with volunteer mentors from the

communications industry to conduct interviews and capture the spirit of each nominee. These 150 profiles are available to read on the Manitoba 150 website. “Manitobans have always demonstrated a strong commitment to their community, through volunteer work, charitable donations, and support for their community,” said Cathy Cox, Manitoba Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage. “We are pleased to recognize and honour these remarkable Manitobans who have so generously and selflessly given of themselves to improve their communities and our beautiful province.” Honourees will receive a commemorative medal, produced by

Awards Canada who have incorporated copper salvaged from the Legislative Building. The medal features a design created by Manitoba artist Takashi Iwasaki, who drew inspiration from Manitoba’s prairie sky, rivers, villages, and farming roots. The medal is more than an award. It is a unique piece of art and a visual serenade to Manitoba. “Just as the medal tells a deeper story, so too do the amazing individuals who will receive it. Their stories are infinite, and I hope when they look at their medal, they know that Manitoba appreciates them,” explained Iwasaki. As part of Canada Life’s contribution to Manitoba 150, $500 will be donated to the charity

of each Honouree’s choice. “The recipients are local leaders who selflessly give their time and effort to make our province a better place not only during our province’s 150th year, but every day,” said Hugh Moncrieff, Executive Vice-President, Advisory Network and Industry Affairs, Canada Life. “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate their dedication than to contribute to the charities and organizations of their choice in their honour.” Congratulations to these 150 Manitobans, who remind us that even heroes who hide in plain sight deserve our recognition and our thanks. or an artist who actively plays with colour and texture and who works with a variety of media, the opportunity to design a medal that spotlights Manitoba was something Takashi Iwasaki did not want to miss. Drawing inspiration from his own experience, Takashi, originally from Japan, but who has called Winnipeg home for almost two decades, has designed a stunning medal for the recipients of Manitoba 150’s Honour 150 program. “Manitoba has always been a welcoming place. It’s the people who make it amazing, and for me, who make it home,” says Takashi. “There’s a certain

harmony here, from the flow of the rivers, to the villages and communities that come together, to the stories that make up our province.” The design of the medal incorporates elements of our climate, culture, history, wildlife and topography [see image]. Significantly, Takashi was very intentional about the design flowing off the edges of the medal. “The borders of Manitoba are only legal definitions. The rivers, vegetation, animals, people, and ideas … have been and will always be moving across them. I wanted the medal to reflect the limitless movement and freedom we embrace by making the design flow off the edge of the medal,” he explains. The Honour 150 medal is a work of art, meant to be displayed, shared, and to spark conversation. “I wanted to create something more interesting, meaningful, and imaginative than just an object of commemoration. Just as the medal tells a deeper story, so too do the amazing individuals who will receive it. Their stories are infinite, and I hope when they look at their medal, they know that Manitoba appreciates them.” Although the medal design is very personal to him, Takashi believes that the recipients will relate to the story it tells. Each medal incorporates a small amount of copper salvaged from the Legislative Building. Takashi hopes that as time passes, the medals will generate a patina that will remind the Honourees of the history behind their medals. For Junel Malapad, running started as a necessity for his health. Now, it’s something he uses every day to give back and inspire other Manitobans. “Running is something that’s special for a lot of people,” Malapad says. With only a few days off, Malapad will hit the pavement for 50 kilometres every Saturday to raise money for local charities. Junel is the founder of Taking Stigma to the Trash and plans to run 100kms for mental health this year. Some of that mileage up and down Garbage Hill. At Run Your Lungs Out, a treadmill relay. Malapad ran 100 miles and 100kms on a treadmill. He helped raise $150,000 for CancerCare foundation of Manitoba over the past two years. Malapad says his inspiration to give back comes from his daughter. She told her dad instead of getting gifts one year, she wanted to send a kid to camp. “Whatever you’re passionate about, you should tie it to an organization you want to give back to,” Malapad says. “Because, why not?” Malapad has spent years telling people to “erase Boxing Day and write running day” on their calendars. Every year, Malapad and friends run instead of shop — two years ago, clocking 150miles in 56hours. That year, he raised $15,000 for Siloam Mission. Malapad recalls one Running Day when he trekked through knee-deep snow. Another in 40 below temperatures. “I helped push a lot of cars out of the snow that day,” Malapad says. In 2020, Boxing Day will land on the last Saturday of the year, also marking his last 50 kilometre run in his #50K50122020 movement.

Fred De Villa migrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in January 1977 and started his career in marketing and accountancy and in a year’s hard work he was promoted as Controller at Caprice Distributor. He joined Sunlife insurance company as Unit Supervisor then again as a Financial Advisor. In 1993, he merited the company’s “National Quality Award” for maintaining a high level of quality of service. Currently, Fred De Villa heads the Filipino Council, a group which facilitates discussion of local, national and international important issues. Foremost among his contributions was spearheading the initiative, filing petitions and lobbying for changes for improvement on the immigration law which resulted in the deferment of the payment of CDN$975 landing fee for new immigrants. Fred’s other significant contribution was to facilitate the process by which Philippine trained nurses pass their licensure examination to enable them to practice their profession. An activist in and for the Filipino community, Fred is frequently involved in rallying the community to a just cause. His 1998 Human Rights Achievement Award is a powerful testimony that he shares the Province of Manitoba’s seriousness in safeguarding its migrant communities. Since the 80’s, Fred has worn different hats; President, Chair, founding member of various services and groups. We have Pepe and Pilar day care, Merry Popins, foreign/domestic workers, Filipino Sports Federation, Heritage Week Coordinating Committee and many other organizations. In 2004, he was named Outstanding Filipino in Canada. In 2012 Fred was a recipient of the “Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. On October 30, 2018, the House of Commons adopted the month of June as Filipino Heritage Month nationwide. On this occasion, MP Kevin Lamoureaux and his daughter MLA Cindy Lamoreaux spearheaded the first Filipino Heritage event, and here, Fred was presented a certificate and medallion recognizing his valuable contributions to the Filipino Canadian heritage. This year, on the occasion of the 150th founding anniversary of the Province of Manitoba, Mr. Fred De Villa will be awarded as an honouree, nominated by no less than MLA Cindy Lamoureaux, Leo Aniceto and Susan Scott.

Evangeline Mance Winnipeg

A guiding light for thousands of Filipinos immigrating to Manitoba Written by Red River College student: Brayden Solberg

Evangeline Mance, known in Manitoba’s Filipino community as Tita (Auntie) Vangie, watches her family grow everyday, as new Filipino immigrants turn to her for advice on starting a new life in Manitoba. A medical technologist in the Philippines, Mance says she wasn’t prepared for the rigorous process of finding employment as an immigrant in Canada. "When I came here and realized Canada doesn’t recognize my profession it was really difficult for me,” she says. Winnipeg's Filipino community helped her navigate the process of settling in Canada, and for the past 27 years she has been returning the favour. “I know the feeling of being a newcomer with a lot of questions and nowhere to turn,” she says. “I just want to help them the same way that others helped me.” In 2014, she created the non-profit organization Life of Peg Association of Manitoba, where new Filipino immigrants can seek guidance from over 18,000 members. It has since become a catalyst for her much larger vision, including the ‘Life of Peg Basketball League’. “Basketball is huge for us, but more importantly it’s a chance to network,” she says. Mance continues to support her community. This year, the Mario T. Mance P.Eng. Memorial Scholarship she founded, will support four Filipino students aspiring to follow in her late husband’s footsteps as an engineer, donating $9,000 in tuition funds.

Paubaya’s Valentine Music Video Takes the Country by Storm

I

t was late October last year when singer-songwriter Moira Dela Torre dropped her hit track, Paubaya, with lyrics describing a person’s feelings after a rather painful break-up. The said song had brought both men and women to tears, what with its lyrics being so relatable to both genders alike. But it was the music video of “Paubaya” that broke the internet on Valentine’s Day itself. Featuring no less than once real-life sweethearts, Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia, the video just took the country by storm, leaving all viewers heartbroken. The highlight of the video came with the exchange between both artists which can be described as absolutely emotional. But what was even more mind blowing was the fact that Joshua and Julia wrote their own scripts, as shown in the credits of the video. Hence, netizens are now speculating if this part of the video was indeed real as every gaze that

lingered, every line that was uttered and every expression that on their faces said otherwise. With the lyrics of the song flowing, all emotions evoked just felt too raw, too real. In an interview, both Joshua and Julia admitted that they never had any formal closure since their breakup. Was it this production then that paved the way for such to happen?

Netizens will never know for sure but according to Donald Lapez who played the priest role in the video, both artists did not use their scripts at some point in their exchange. As he shared in the comments section of the music video, Joshua and Julia had “no script or kung ano pa man, just pure words of forgiveness and love.”

Ex-Husband of Ruffa, Yilmas Bektas to Visit Daughters in the Country

W

ith her recent breakup with French boyfriend, Jordan Mouyal, Ruffa Gutierrez is back to being single after seven years. In a recent interview, the actress shared that it was she who broke things off, stating that she wants her heart to rest and just spend time with her family. But the interview got into an emotional turn when the topic turned to her ex-husband Yilmaz Bektas who has plans to visit the country this June. They have been married for 9 years and have two daughters, Lorin and Venice, whom Ruffa had brought home with her when they separated. Since then, it has been

Ruffa who had raised her children. The actress spoke of how deep her relationship with the Turkish businessman went, having left her family and career just to be with him. Ruffa also admitted that Yilmaz is the one man that she still cries for until now. After years of separation, they are both now in speaking terms and have talked about their past relationship. Yilmaz had mentioned about how time is precious and wants to make up for what years he had lost with their daughters. For her part, Ruffa had no qualms but said it’s best they do it

step by step and start by trying to be co-parents with their kids first. She had also talked it over with her two daughters and both are okay with Yilmaz coming over to see them as it had been 13 years since they last saw their father. Ruffa made it clear however that no talk of reconciliation happened.

Philippines among China’s Priority List for Covid-19 Vaccines

COVID-19 vaccines are set to arrive in the country within this month; thereby, making its arrival ahead of the COVAX vaccines promised by the World Health Organization. According to presidential spokesperson, Harry Roque, the Chinese pharmaceutical company, Sinovac Biotech has allocated 25 million of its vaccine for the Philippines. This quantity does not include the 600,000 doses that Sinovac has already committed to donate with delivery scheduled to arrive this February 23. Advantage to Filipinos Meanwhile, Philippine Ambassador to China Jose Santiago Sta. Romana has confidence in China’s capability for on-time delivery despite having to meet supply demands from other countries in Southeast Asia, India and Brazil. He reported China’s success of vaccinating 40 million people which

went smoothly and had very few adverse effects. Such operation also included Filipino doctors working in the country. No Specific Brand Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Chief Eric Domingo stated that in its quest to vaccinate the country’s 100 million population, President Duterte has no specific brand preference; hence, FDA is anticipating applications from other drugmakers such as the United States’ Moderna and Novavax. So far, FDA has granted emergency permits to Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca, the latter being on emergency use listing, issued by WHO last Feb 15, for a global rollout via COVAX. For Duterte’s military bodyguards, FDA has given compassionate use license for 10,000 doses of New Crown, the vaccine manufactured by Sinopharm, another Chinese pharmaceutical company.

Auring to Intensify into Tropical Depression

T

he Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has given warning that tropical depression Auring may escalate into a tropical storm before making landfall at Caraga. Wednesday night has seen the typhoon to be 755 km southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with westward movement at 10 kph. As it is anticipated to be over East Mindanao waters until Saturday, it is likely to heighten into a storm this Thursday night with winds blowing from 65 to 85 kph. Weather specialist Benison Estareja says it will hit Caraga by Saturday night or Sunday morning. Though it is seemingly getting closer to Hinatuan at present, Pagasa says that a change in its course is possible. Currently, Auring is still not

Return of Old PUJ Routes in Cebu City Deferred due to Rise in New Cases

T

he continuous spike of Covid-19 cases in Cebu City has prompted the Jeepney Task Force to approve the move for NO additional routes of traditional public utility jeepneys in the city. Task force head Councilor James Anthony Cuenco stated that currently, “public transport remains on a status quo” until there is a significant decrease of cases. As of February 15, the Department of Health (DOH) in Central Visayas has reported 2,601 active cases in Cebu City. It can be recalled that Cuenco had proposed to re-open all previous routes to solve the lack of public transportation but with the situation, they still await clearance from the Emergency Operations Center and approval from Mayor Edgardo Abella. Cuenco also said that they are presently drawing a list of jeepney drivers who reside in the city as the government is offering a program where they can avail of financial assistance amounting to P5,000, provided that they can comply with all requirements. With the said assistance program happening this March, Cuenco reported that 700 names have already been verified.

directly affecting the Philippines but it is the cause of Eastern Mindanao’s cloudy skies. No signals of tropical cyclone wind have been announced yet but Pagasa warns that Caraga and Davao regions may be placed under Signal number 1 by Friday. Moreover, Signal number 1 or 2 may be raised in other parts of Mindanao, Visayas, Mimaropa and Bicol, depending on Auring’s track. Forecast shows that the typhoon may head northwest after going through northern tip of Caraga, this time hitting Central Visayas before moving between Eastern Mindoro and Northern Palawan. Still, Pagasa says there is every possibility for Auring to change course and move north toward Eastern Visayas or Bicol or move south going Davao. Pagasa asks everyone to be vigilant as there may be flooding and landslides among areas that have had rain for the past couple of days.

Great Records through the Decades pt. 2 (Progressive Rock)

L

ast issue, we came up with a list of albums released in the previous decades whose styles revolve around Sunny Pop, New Wave, and other closely related genres. This time, I will introduce you to yet another list of albums which are, on the other hand, classified under Progressive Rock. Progressive Rock is a style of music characterized by complex song structures; a mix of Classical and Rock, in a nutshell. Primary example is Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." The following albums may be listened to via online platforms like YouTube and Spotify. But, better yet, you can purchase CDs via online stores like eBay, Amazon, and Discogs. 1960s: The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed (1967) Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967) Jethro Tull - This Was (1968) King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King (1969) Van der Graaf Generator - The Aerosol Grey Machine (1969) 1970s: Caravan - In the Land of Pink and Grey (1971) Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery (1973) Genesis - Selling England by the Pound (1973) Gentle Giant - Free Hand (1975) Queen - A Night at the Opera (1975)

1980s: Rush - Permanent Waves (1980) Yes - Drama (1980) IQ - Tales from the Lush Attic (1983) Marillion - Script for a Jester's Tear (1983) Pallas - The Sentinel (1984) 1990s: Pendragon - The World (1991) The Flower Kings - Back in the World of Adventures (1995) Porcupine Tree - The Sky Moves Sideways (1995) Spock's Beard - The Light (1995) Ozric Tentacles - Waterfall Cities (1999) 2000s: Camel - A Nod and a Wink (2002) Sylvan - Artificial Paradise (2002) Earthless - Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky (2007) The Pineapple Thief - Tightly Unwound (2008) Transatlantic - The Whirlwind (2009) Final Note Many of these albums may be unfamiliar to you. However, now is the time to give these works of sonic art a good listen, especially that we are still living in pandemic times, when the best thing to do (apart from going to work) is stay home and find something essential to do. And just as food is to the body, music is to the spirit.

Trump’s ‘Day of Resurrection’ PEREZCOPE by Perry Diaz PerryDiaz@gmail.com

ust when QAnon conspiracy theories were debunked, a new theory is building up and is gathering acceptance among those who believe in Trumpism. Ex-President Donald Trump who had been replaced by President Joe Biden is believed to be coming back to power. He’ll be inaugurated as the 19th president of the United States on March 4. Why 19th and not as 45th, 46th or 47th president? The story being peddled is that is that since 1871, the country called United States of America ceased to be a nation and became a corporation that belongs to the City of London. The corporation is represented by an American flag with a gold fringe attached to it. Are you with me so far? But what happened to Joe Biden who was inaugurated as president on January 20, 2021? Well, Trump doesn’t recognize Biden as president. Trump is claiming that Biden’s

election was fraudulent and Trump is the duly elected president. He’ll be sworn as president on March 4, 2021. Why this particular date? According to QAnon believers, the March 4 date is borrowed from the Sovereign Citizen movement, which asserts that March 4 was the original inauguration day in the constitution before it was changed to January 20 by the 20th Amendment. They believe that March 4, 2021 is the start for the new Republic. March 4 was the start date of the new President until it was changed in 1933. Therefore, QAnon believes that Trump will re-assume the presidency on the date laid down by the Founders. As a result, prices in Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC is being increased on March 4 – from $596 to $1,331 -- when hordes of QAnon believers will all come down to the nation’s capital to

attend and celebrate the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Can’t they see that Trump is bilking them of their hard-earned money? That’s the cost of believing in Trump.

using a space laser, in order to clear room for a high-speed rail project.” She also claimed that Muslims don’t belong in government and 9/11 was an inside job. She also said that shootings at Parkland, Sandy Hook, and Las Vegas were “false flags” and were staged; and that “Zionist supremacists” are secretly masterminding Muslim immigration to Europe in a scheme to outbreed white people. She even suggested that leading Democratic officials should be executed. She later denied that she made all these claims; however, these claims were all documented, some on videos. According to QAnon lore, “former President Donald Trump was recruited by top military generals to run for president in 2016 to break up this criminal conspiracy and bring its members to justice. Many of these cabal members will soon be arrested, the theory goes, and some will be imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, while others will face military tribunals and be executed.” And since the 2020 election, “QAnon has also become a stronghold of support for the false theory that the election was stolen from Trump. Some QAnon believers maintain that he is still the lawful president, although some have reluctantly accepted the reality that he is not.”

Conspiracy theories It’s interesting to note that Trump endorsed Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, a QAnon believer, who ran for Congress in the 2020 election and won. Trump praised her in August 2020 in a tweet that she was a "future Republican Star" and "strong on everything." Greene has become the most prominent QAnon lawmaker in the country. She has promoted many conspiracy theories that falsely alleged that the world is run by a cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles who eat children. QAnon followers believe that this cabal includes President Biden, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and George Soros. Also included are entertainers and Hollywood celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, and Ellen DeGeneres; and religious figures like Pope Francis and the Dalai Lama. Greene suggested in a Facebook post that wildfires in California were not natural. She claimed that forest The Storm fires “had been started by PG&E, in Q predicted that this war would soon conjunction with the Rothschilds, culminate in “The Storm,” which is the appointed time “when Mr. Trump would finally unmask the cabal, punish its members for their crimes and restore America to greatness.” It is a reference to a cryptic remark Trump made during an October 2017 photo op with several military generals. Trump said, “You guys know what this represents? Maybe it’s the calm before the storm.” Is it a proof that Trump was sending a coded message about his plans to break up the global cabal? QAnon members believe so. Q postings in social media have since decreased substantially since Trump’s re-election loss. I wonder why? But many QAnon believers said that Q will return someday, but others maintain that the movement no longer needs Q as a central figure. They now have Donald Trump as their High Priest. But after Trump’s re-election loss, many QAnon believers rallied behind the false theory that the election was stolen from him. Many expected that on Inauguration Day, Mr. Trump would not actually leave office as scheduled but would declare martial law, announce mass arrests of Democrats and stop Biden from taking office. However, that didn’t happen. Many QAnon believers grew disillusioned and angry. Some even realized they have been duped. But others kept their faith in Trump and continued to believe that “The Storm” was still coming. They maintained that Trump was still planning a triumphant comeback. In his farewell address on January 19, Trump said, “Now, as I prepare to hand power over to a new administration at noon on Wednesday, I want you to know that the movement we started is

only just beginning. There’s never been anything like it…” “I go from this majestic place with a loyal and joyful heart, an optimistic spirit, and a supreme confidence that for our country and for our children, the best is yet to come. Thank you and farewell. God bless you. God bless the United States of America.” His words lifted the spirits of his QAnon followers. They must be saying, “Yes, the Master will be coming back!” The show goes on As soon as Trump went into selfexile in Mar-a-Lago, he opened an “Office of the Former President” in Palm Beach for the purpose of issuing statements since he is now barred from social media. He plans to announce his post-presidency plans and to “carry on the agenda of the Trump Administration.” He issued a press release, saying: “"The Office will be responsible for managing President Trump's correspondence, public statements, appearances, and official activities to advance the interests of the United States and to carry on the agenda of the Trump Administration through advocacy, organizing, and public activism." The show goes on! Hooray! What if Trump doesn’t show up on March 4? More than likely, he won’t show up. And that would certainly disappoint tens of thousands of QAnon followers. Heck, they could really be pissed off that they would burn down Trump’s hotel. But Trump will come up with some reason why he couldn’t show up at his second inauguration. Are you surprised? He’d probably tell them to wait until next January so his followers could see Biden falter and quit the presidency. But he’s no longer in the line of succession. Vice-President Kamala Harris is next in line and Speaker Nancy Pelosi is third. So how is he going to pull it off? Attack the White House? Which reminds of me the 2013 movie, “White House Down,” when a bomb was detonated in the US Capitol followed by an attack on the White House by former military mercenaries. Needless to say, the insurrection failed. And so will Trump if he has something like a “White House Down” scheme in mind. There will be 25,000 troops waiting for them. Remember, he can say anything to his followers and they would believe him. The trick is to tell them that he would be president again. It’s easier to sell that to them than snake oil and they’ll buy it! That’s how gullible the Trump supporters are. And they’ll wait… and wait. Meanwhile, Trump would be sending them letters thanking them for their continued support and asking them for more contributions. The word that’s being spread around in the Internet is: “Trump will come back in the future if not sooner.” And it could be as soon as March 4, Trump’s “Day of Resurrection.” Yes, they’re anxiously waiting for “The Storm.”
