President Marcos, a.k.a Bongbong Marcos, and Manuel Pinol have combined their passion to provide the Filipino people with the food they need in the coming years. President Marcos sent a wildfire reaction as he was sworn in as the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines when he delivered his inaugural speech when he said: "food is not just a commodity. Without it, people come apart. It is more than a livelihood, it is an existential imperative and a moral one." Even the newly appointed National Food Security Adviser, Manuel Pinol exclaimed with excitement: "At long last, ours will no longer be a lonely pained cry in the wilderness. There is a booming voice coming from the seat of powers who now says they should have listened to our cries long ago. This poetic justice and sweet vindication." And Pinol added: "Personally, para akong ini-angat sa langit ng mga katagang binigkas mo. Thank you, very much, Mr. President. You have given me a reason to hope and dream again." Even the outgoing current Secretary of Agriculture, William Dar, said as the election last May 9 had in the near-final end, showing Marcos with a landslide number of votes, he said: “I believe that the next administration will have that political will, that ability to give the topmost priority or one of the topmost priority areas that is the sector of agriculture and budget for would be at the level of double of the present or tripling the present budget of the Department of Agriculture,” he said. And take this, when Pinol posted what Marcos had declared on Facebook, there were 23,000 likes, 1,400 shares, and 900 comments, one would be awed by the reaction of thousands of Filipinos who were hoping and praying for the words to be put into action. Both Marcos and Pinol received so many inspiring comments. Would the power of President Marcos and the advocacy of the former Secretary of the Department of Agriculture Manuel Pinol (Appointed by the former President Duterte in 2026-2019), be the concrete force to change the blatant infinitude of food security. Time will tell as millions of Filipinos are waiting for action in the quest for basic human rights against hunger. Remember that the Philippines is endowed with rich natural resources, and if properly develop and sustain, as a moral responsibility, then, the country in the near future can compete with the exponential economic growth of Vietnam and Thailand. This is not the time to say again, "Quo Vadis, Philippines?"

that it will roll back prices per liter of diesel by P3.00, and kerosene by P3.40. Unfortunately, there are no adjustments for gasoline. Cleanfuel and Petro Gazz will implement the same adjustment for diesel. They do not carry kerosene products. The latest rollback comes after four straight weeks of increases for gasoline, and five straight weeks for both diesel and kerosene. The changes will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, for all the firms, except for Cleanfuel which will adjust prices at 8:01 a.m. the same day. Other companies have yet to make similar announcements. Earlier, Energy Undersecretary Gerardo Erguiza Jr. said due to a mix of factors including the global demand and the geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine, pump prices could hit P100 per liter should the weekly increases continue.

Good parenting tips by being a good role model
I
t is one thing to be your child's role model, but another to be a good role model. It takes time and energy to evaluate yourself honestly and consider what you're teaching your kids without even realizing it. Good parenting involves not only showing them the right way of doing things, but it is also teaching them the right way of living. What role do you play in your child's life? Are they seeing a reflection of a role model or a role failure? If you want to be a good role model, try these tips; Be honest in all your role modeling. Remember that role model is a position of influence and you should use that role for good. Avoid lying, cheating, stealing, manipulating or any other behavior that would create a false role model for your child. Don't lie about things like what you've done or where you've been because chances are your children will find out the truth and feel betrayed. Be a role model of good decision making. Your role as role models is to show your kids how they can
make wise decisions or not. Do not teach them that it's okay to be reckless, impulsive, and careless with their role modeling behavior. Also avoid showing them how it's cool to choose self-destructive behaviors like smoking, drinking, taking drugs, or doing anything else that can be harmful to your role model health. Be a role model of good character. Character is showing respect for others and yourself, someone who makes sound decisions while demonstrating honesty and integrity in all they do. As role models we need to be above reproach because the example you role model for your child is the example they will learn from. Be a role model of good manners. Learning is not limited to what you role model either. It can be watching how you treat others, how you speak to friends, family members, people on the street, waiters and salespeople. Don't role model any habits that are socially unacceptable such as using foul language, saying cruel things about others, or any other manners faux pas.
Let’s get social
Be a role model of compassion and empathy. Role models must ask themselves how they would feel if someone else role modeled the same behavior to their child. Your role is to help your child not only learn how to get along with others, but to understand how important it is to be role models of empathy and compassion for others. Be a role model of self-discipline and self-control. It's easy to role model the role of impulsive, but this behavior can often get you into trouble or set a bad example for your kids. Resist the urge to role model that kind of role model behavior and instill in your children the role model of self-discipline and presence of mind.

Delivering on our commitment to ban harmful single-use plastics By Steven Guilbeault
P
lastic is everywhere. We use it in packaging, construction, agriculture, automobiles, electronics, textiles, and medical equipment. While plastic has revolutionized our lives, plastic pollution has emerged as a key environmental issue worldwide. Of the four million tonnes of plastic waste that is thrown away in Canada every year, only 8 percent is recycled. The rest ends up in landfills
and our natural environment, littering our parks, beaches, streets, and other places we value. Plastic pollution chokes wildlife and clogs waterways. It breaks down into tiny pieces, ending up in the soil, oceans, and air, and even our drinking water and food. We have to change this. It’s what Canadians are asking for. Now is the time for action. Just recently, our federal government announced we are banning some of the
most common and harmful single-use plastics, including plastic checkout bags, plastic cutlery, six-pack rings, stir sticks, straws, and certain hard-torecycle food containers like clamshells. While the domestic production and import of these harmful single-use plastics will be banned at the end of this year, Canadian businesses like restaurants can use them until the end of Creditaid next year, which gives them time to adjust.

Over the next decade, this worldleading ban on harmful single-use plastics will result in the estimated elimination of over 1.3 million tonnes of hard to recycle plastic waste. This is all about creating cleaner communities and a cleaner environment. It’s about giving Canadians the sustainable alternatives they’re asking for and developing new business opportunities in a greener economy.
This ban represents a historic step in our government’s promise to cut plastic waste from across our society, wherever possible. But we know we cannot ban our way out of this problem. Plastic will remain a useful part of our lives. Our government’s plan is about responsibly managing plastic so it stays in the economy and stops polluting our environment. Our comprehensive plan will also mean plastic manufacturers will have to use 50 percent recycled plastic in any plastic products they make, and that the “chasing-arrows” recycling symbol on products can only be used if we know these products can actually be Adrecycled Reference:in Canada. Filmmaker Lauren Greenfield Kris shares health updates, bids farewell calls out the use of Imelda Marcos image for copyright infringement for now
I
A
ctress Kris Aquino, on Thursday noon June 30, 2022, posted her health updates on Instagram. Aquino also had a long written speech about her current condition, accompanied by photos and videos of her family, particularly her brother, the late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. Kris started by apologizing to her brother for greeting him five days late for his first birthday. Then, she proceeded with enumerating the conditions and treatments she went through, including a Corticosteroid challenge allergies, and other treatment side effects, she also experiences hives, “constantly high” blood pressure.
To make matters worse, she and Bimby also tested COVID-19 positive around three days after her eldest Joshua tested positive. She had to say a proper goodbye on social media because many have prayed for her and her sons “regardless of their political affiliation.” She is to undergo Rituxan, which she described as chemotherapy but for people with autoimmune diseases like her after being COVID-19free. After two months of Rituxan treatment, she will rest for four to five months before beginning another cycle or probably another chemo. She was told that treatment would probably last for the next year and a half the 51-year-old said.
n a tweet on July 2, 2022, The Kingmaker director cries copyright infringement over the Imelda Marcos billboard located along EDSA saying “clearly, whoever stole my image to wish her Happy Birthday doesn’t understand copyright infringement.” The billboard shows Imelda in a red terno, with the text “Happy 93th Birthday first lady Imelda Marcos.” The image in the billboard was taken by Lauren for her documentary The Kingmaker and was even used in the film’s poster. The billboard company apologized to Lauren, in a statement, saying “We were unaware of your copyright, and we appreciate that you brought the matter to our attention” and took the billboard down after being made aware of the issue. It’s not immediately clear
whether Lauren will be taking any legal action against the people behind the billboard. Imelda was born on July 2, 1929, which marks her 93rd birthday as well as the return of her
family to Malacañang after her son, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. was sworn in as the 17th president of the Republic of the Philippines on June 30, 2022.

A Day of Discovery in Varadero, Cuba by Gem and Lita Anis
T
he top beach destination of the Caribbean island of Cuba sits on a 13-mile long peninsula (20 km. long and only 1.2 km. wide) with pristine white-sand beaches, swaying palm trees and calm crystal-clear waters drawing more than one million tourists each year. Located in the province of Matanza, 120 kilometres east of the capital city Havana, this famous place for the sun, surf and sand is ranked second on the list of the world’s best beaches. Also known as “Playa Azul” (Blue Beach) because of its clear, calm waters, this is the right place to “kick back and enjoy a laid-back sun- and rumsoaked vacation”. The beach scene includes snorkeling, pedal-boating, paragliding, catamaran rides, sport fishing, scuba diving, and of course, swimming. . A place like no other is VARADERO! Founded in 1887, the municipality of Varadero (meaning “dry dock”)
has a population of about 20,000. In addition to the beach that stretches for miles Varadero has natural attractions such as caves and virgin cays and also cultural and historical sites. A hop on – hop off double-decker bus cruises around town with stops at well-marked places particularly at the main principal street, Avenida Primera (Avenida 1), which runs along the oceanfront. Aside from the beach, our bucket list includes Mansion Xanadu, the Santa Elvira Church, Parque de las 8000, La Casa de Al, and Cueva de Ambrosio. Step back in time and visit Mansion Xanadu and La Casa de Al! Formerly a three-story mansion built by an American millionaire, Mansion Xanadu is now a hotel and restaurant like the “Casa de Al”. At Avenida Kawama in the western part of Varadero is La Casa de Al, a beautiful stone and

wood beachfront house dating from the 1920s and now one of the best restaurants in Varadero. Legend says that the well-known Chicago gangster Al Capone might have been its owner. An old Ford Model T sits on the front lawn. We did enjoy here our late lunch of lobster and shrimp meal! Located at the corner of Avenida 1 and Calle 47 is the quaint historic church overlooking the ocean , the Santa Elvira Church. Known for its peculiar and irregular structure of stones and wood, this little Catholic church built in 1938 features a horseshoe arch serving as a bell tower with a cross at the top. Also at Avenida 1 is “Parque de las 8000 Taquillas” (Park of the 8000 Cubicles). Used to be a place where tourists/visitors could leave their personal belongings in the basement of the park it is now remodelled and named Centro Comercial Hicacos where you can find many shops and boutiques. “Cueva de Ambrosio” is located in Varahicacos Ecological Reserve archaeological site which reflects the Indian traditions revealed in one of the largest collections of Indian pictographs in the Caribbean . Inside the cave is a rock drawing

thought to be more than 2000 years old. The cave is home to many hundreds of harmless resident bats flying around or hanging from the ceiling of the cave. It’s almost evening time when we returned to our place of stay in the Villa Bacuranao. TRIVIA: The Number One world’s very best beach is Baia do Sancho, Fernando de Noronha, Brazil.
