Opening of Ayati Centre Ayati - the National Centre for dierently abled children was declared open this morning by H E President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. RC of Colombo West along with the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International partnered the project by contributing the necessary equipment worth Rs. 45 million.


RI President visits Ayati Centre RI President Mark Maloney visited the newly opened Ayati centre for dierently abled children on the 17th of February, 2020. Mr Maloney , who was accompanied by District Governor Sebastian Karunakaran and RC of Colombo West President Pravir Samarasinghe, unveiled \ a Rotary plaque.

Donation of Four dialysis machines to Kandana Base Hospital RC of Colombo West donated four dialysis machines and four dialysis chairs amounting to a cost of US$ 40,000/- to the Haemodialysis unit of the Kandana base hospital on the This was a joint project which was made successful through the donations made by RC of Colombo West, RC of Chennai Sun City - India, The Rotar y Foundation, Medical Aid to Sri Lanka (UK) and a private donor Mr Harinath Palihakkara who made a donation to bestow merits on his late sister.



Donation of tube wells to remote village RC of Colombo West joined hands with Swadeshi to provide a tube well and water system costing Rs. 350,000 to the residents in a poverty stricken village in Polonnaruwa, thereby providing them with the much needed water supply for their livelihood.


Lasanna Verala – Mount Lavinia Beach Cleanup RC of Colombo West in association with Port City Colombo organised this beach clean up which was also a joint project with all Interact and Rotract Clubs Chartered by RC of Colombo West. This is a 5 year sustainable project.

Sponsoring of Interact Club The Interact Club of Steiner College held its first meeting on the 10th of February , 2020. PE Brian attended the event as the Chief Guest. This is a new Interact Club which will be sponsored by the RC of Colombo West.

Youth Leadership Program The 600 youth leadership program was inaugurated in association with Toastmasters International. The program will be conducted in 15 two tier schools and is planned to be completed within a period of four months.

Unforgettable Music Concert We joined hands with RC of Colombo & RC of Mid City to organise a musical concert as a fundraiser to collect funds to be donated to Rotary International. The concert was a huge success with over 95 tickets being sold. A total of US$7500 was raised and donated to Rotary International.


Celebrating 75 years of United Nations We celebrated the 75th UN day at our weekly luncheon meeting held on the 29th of January, 2020. The highlight of the celebration was the speech given by the Guest Speaker Ms Haana Singer who is the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka. She leads the UN Country team of 22 residents and Non-resident UN Agencies. She is also the representative of the UN Secretary General in Sri Lanka.

Toastmasters Speechcraft Program

RCCW joint hands with District 3220 to organise a Toastmasters Training Program exclusively for Rotarians & Rotractors. The program was conducted by Toastmasters International.

Guest Speaker - Professor Arjuna De Silva, Senior Professor of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Colombo North Hospital. Topic: COVID 19 - “The Pandemic”

Guest Speaker - Mr Nivard Cabraal - Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister and former Governor - Central Bank of Sri Lanka Topic: COVID 19 Economic challenges and the way forward for Sri Lanka


Our contribution towards fighting the pandemic COVID 19 Relief Project by District 3220 RC of Colombo West contributed an amount of Rs. 3.8 million towards the purchase of 2 new important surveillance , testing and virus detection equipment for the Medical Research Institute (MRI)

WESTAID Rotaract Club of Colombo West along with 10 other Youth Service wing Clubs of RC of Colombo West donated dry ration packs to 200 needy families suering due to COVID 19 Pandemic
