Aurangabad: Shiv

Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve alleged that the stones were pelted by “anti-social” elements to create a rift
between those carrying out the procession and the Shiv Sena convoy.
“Some stones were pelted at the convoy while we were leaving the venue. A stone fell inside the venue. The crowd was raising slogans in support of local MLA, Ramesh Bornare. It was an attempt by anti-social elements in the mob to create a rift between the two groups,” he said.
Danve further said that after the police asked them to stop the DJ and the procession, the crowd went angry and started pelting stones at the convoy.

If you have guts, then have a one-on-one with me,” Aaditya said and attacked Maharashtra Govt alleging that big projects and industries are going to other states. “If you are afraid of my challenge, then I give you a smaller challenge. Remove the Governor, before his speech in the upcoming session. The Governor has insulted great men of Maharashtra, but the Chief Minister does not speak anything on it. This is dangerous for Democracy, and we are fighting for it,” he said.
NO ONE SHOULD TAKE THE LAW IN THEIR HANDS: AJIT PAWAR
Mumbai: Condemning the stone pelting incident, NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Wednesday said that such incidents should not happen and no one should take law into their own hands. “I would say that be it the ruling party or the opposition, there is no need to take the law into one’s hands and people should refrain from indulging in such activities,” said Ajit Pawar. Ajit Pawar further said that it is everyone’s right to protest but one should protest peacefully and pelting stones can never be justified.

‘Unconstitutional Maha govt will fall very soon’
Danve writes to DGP over security breach
Mumbai: Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council and Shiv Sena MLC Ambadas
First India Bureau
Jalna: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday said the “unconstitutional” state government headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will not last long and fall very soon. Aaditya, son of Shiv Sena president and former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, was addressing a rally at Badnapur in Jalna district as part of his ‘Shiv Samvad Yatra’. “People of Maharashtra know how this government is being run. This unconstitutional government would not last for many days. It will fall very soon,” he said.
Aaditya’s remarks came ahead of the Supreme Court’s hearing on the matter related to the disqualification of 16 rebel MLAs of Shiv Sena daily beginning February 14. Shinde, who rebelled against Shiv Sena leadership last June leading to the
collapse of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government, heads the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena (BSS) faction of Shiv Sena and shares power with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
“I had asked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and dared him to remove state governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for insulting great personalities. He had insulted public icons and Maharashtra, but Shinde did not utter a single word,” Aaditya alleged. The Opposi -
tion has been demanding the removal of Koshyari for “insulting” Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by calling him the “icon of olden times”.
Aaditya also said he had challenged CM Shinde to contest the Assembly election against him from the Worli seat in Mumbai or Thane. Aaditya represents the Worli Assembly seat while Thane is the home turf of the chief minister. He alleged the ShindeBJP government was wasting public money.
Danve has written to the Maharashtra police Director General over the security breach during Aaditya Thackeray’s event in Aurangabad. The LoP has requested the DGP to seriously look into the breach and has sought action.
Danve also released a video saying “Attempt was made during the meeting at Mahalgaon (Vaijapur) to create ob-
stacles in the meeting of Saheb. It has come to light that the government has also neglected the security of Aadityaji Thackeray.”
Danve further wrote, “Mindhe Group MLA
Ramesh Borwane who created the said confusion was announcing his name. Action must be taken against the officers and Superintendents of Police who neglected Aaditya Sa-
heb’s security.” The tweet was made in the Marathi Language.
Ambadas Danve also informed that some people were shouting slogans of Ramesh Borone Zindabad. He claimed
that it was done to create a divide between Hindu and Dalit samaj. Notably, stones were allegedly pelted at the convoy of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray in Aurangabd’s Vaijapur area on Tuesday evening during the seventh leg of his party’s Shiv Sanvaad Yatra. The incident took place near the venue in Vaijapur where Aaditya was addressing his supporters, said sources. At the same time, there was also a procession in the area to mark Ramabai Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.

Mumbai Metro lines hangs in balance
First India Bureau Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is constructing three major lines as part of the 300-km-metro network proposed in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and the work on several other metro lines is ongoing.
The MMRDA has plans to construct 3 major metro corridors, the first of which would be Metro 4 (Wadala to Kasarvadavali) which is a 32.32-km-long elevated corridor with 30 stations, the second is Metro 5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan), which is 24.90 km long elevated corridor with 15 stations and third is
Metro 6 (Swami Samarth NagarJogeshwari-VikhroliKanjurmarg) which is 15.31-kilometre-long having 13 stations.
The MMRDA had identified land at Kanjurmarg for constructing the depot of Metro 6. However, the Shiv Sena government at the time, led by Uddhav Thackeray had proposed to set up an integrated depot for
all three lines at Kanjurmarg.
The present government led by CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis shifted the original proposal for the depot for underground Line 3 to Aarey from Kanjurmarg. But Line 6 depot which was slated to come up at Kanjurmarg is still shrouded in uncertainty.
The MMRDA has sent several reminders to the Urban Development Department to allocate Kanjurmarg land for the Line 6 depot. However, it is yet to get final approval. The Kanjurmarg land is owned by the Central Government. The development authority is also seeking land at Mogharpada, Thane and Kasheli in Bhiwandi to build depots for Lines 4 and 5. According to Metro officials, at least one year is required to set up all infrastructure to construct any depot. The MMRDA, which is yet to get possession of land for any of the depots, is also yet to appoint any contractor for their construction.

900 contractual BEST bus drivers without pay for 5 months
Apart from basic salaries, the drivers claim of not receiving the Provident Funds amount as well
First India Bureau
Mumbai: Nearly 900 Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) contractual bus drivers have now knocked on the doors of
Colaba police station alleging that the contractors have not paid their salaries for 5 months and Provident Funds (PF) for 13 months. The drivers, deployed in five bus depots namely Colaba, Bandra, Wadala, Kurla and Vikhroli are sitting jobless for a few months.
The basic salary of these drivers is Rs18,000 per month. “They had deducted money from our salaries in the name of PF and medical expenses but it hasn’t been paid to us yet,” ex-
plained a driver.
According to one of the drivers, they have been working since 2019 and performed duty even during the pandemic. “So many festivals have gone by, but forget about bonuses, we have not even received our rightful salaries,” he said.
The drivers further claimed that they have not got any assistance from any government body or the authorities in this regard. “We have approached every of-
fice. Our children are young, we are the only working members. Half of us live in rented kholis (chawls), and now we don’t even have the money to pay rent or buy food supplies for the family,” said a driver of BEST bus in the Bandra depot area.
Allegedly, one of the drivers who was depressed about the situation also tried to commit suicide. “He lived in Marathwada and after not getting paid for months tried to hang
himself. At this point, there are no assurances we can give him,” said one of the drivers.
At present, there are 280 buses at the five bus depots lying idle as there are no drivers to ply them. The drivers say they have also written to the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to provide assistance, but have not yet heard back; and since it’s a matter related to private contractors, even the BEST authorities are not intervening, they claim.

IS YOUNG INDIA JOB READY?
The real purpose of education is to make youth socially responsible, economically viable and emotionally balanced. But the truth be told that industry perceives that 65 to 70 per cent degree holders do not possess employability conditions. However, neither the industry has clearly specified the factors that decide these numbers nor has mentioned the criteria or the required skills in an un ambiguous manner.
Having been on the recruiting panel of defence services in my military career and now for over a decade involved with hiring in corporate world, I hold a firm conviction that much is desired to prepare our youth for skills that Gandhi termed as education for life along with education for living.
The current economic crisis has further augmented the problem of employment in India. Our country which was already facing an ‘unemployed growth’ has suddenly been pushed into a job recession scenario in recent years. According to the latest data, India’s jobless rate rested at 8.63% per cent in December 2022 which is a thing of grave concern in a country that boasts of 65 % youth population below 35 years of age.
In my opinion, not only have job opportunities lessened courtesy AI, but the nature of jobs has also undergone a dramatic change in last decade or so in the world.
Whilst those jobless need to demonstrate employability by upskilling and upscaling skills that make them desirable. Indeed, planning for future employment also needs developing new levels of operability as learning remains a lifelong imperative for career development. Therefore, accepting ownership of your own career is the only key to achieving job worthiness for sustainable growth

Greater digital representation of work, paramount shift in buying behaviours and the volatile markets have given rise to the need for multiple skill sets among the younger generation looking for job opportunities. Therefore, with the changing landscape of recruitment, influence of technology and a very dynamic and fast changing market, job readiness is something that can be the differentiator between job search and job seeking.
Though, the job readiness covers a plethora of factors, the important ones that can be summarised are just three. Number one, understanding your job. It really should be an obvious thing but it is alarming that many aspir-

ants do not have an iota of understanding of the role they are to perform within organisations. This means that they also are not aware of what skills are needed to be acquired for the job today or, in the future to be able to continue to effectively perform their role.
Number two is development of the skill sets to suit the job profile. That is, identifying the gaps and areas of development and articulating it with appropriate skill sets to bridge the existing gaps. One glaring thing that is irksome is that job hunters are not able to demonstrate during an interview that they have the skills required to immediately transition in to a role they are being interviewed for.
And lastly, the most important one is the expertise of presentation and communication which holds key to your success at the interview. If one can reflect understanding of the role and the level of professionalism coupled with personal etiquettes and communicational proficiency, well, the job is within reach.
To be honest, I would say that in present day, job readiness is more important than
Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS chief, has once again raised the politically sensitive issue of castes. Bhagwat blamed “pundits” for the creation of castes and sects. Attacking the caste (varna) system Bhagwat said that everyone was equal before God. After the statement raked up a debate, Sangh’s publicity in-charge issued a clarification explaining the term used by the Sarsanghchalak meant intellectuals and not Brahmins.
His remarks, though welcome, are not in sync with the country’s politics which thrives mainly on caste and religion. The influence which upper castes wield is weightier than Bhagwat’s opinion which explains the contin-
The current economic crisis has further augmented problem of employment in India. According to the latest data, India’s jobless rate rested at 8.6 per cent in December 2022 which is a thing of grave concern in a country that boasts of 65 % youth population below 35 years of age
ever before in the corporate world. Competition is fierce and employers have become less willing to invest in learning and development of their employees as it is not costeffective and employee turnover reduces return on investment. In such a scheme, the students should realise that there is little correlation between having a degree and being qualified for a job. My advice to all would be to evolve and flourish with the cutting edge of competitive job skills to promote professional career. Even if a candidate is not sure about

the choice of career, pursuing a few qualities that are universally desired by employers and which are termed as transferable skills may allow for exploration of job options in times to come. Every job needs different expertise, yet, the employers seek out candidates with transferable skills like team work & strategic thinking because they showcase applicant’s range of flexibility and adaptability. Indeed, there is a great deal more to job readiness for YOUNG INDIA than what is so far discussed. For all individuals, who are employed, they need to remain employable by learning the transferable skills. Whilst those jobless need to demonstrate employability by upskilling and upscaling skills that make them desirable. Indeed, planning for future employment also needs developing new levels of operability as learning remains a lifelong imperative for career development. Therefore, accepting ownership of your own career is the only key to achieving job worthiness for sustainable growth.

lation being in place to prevent such occurrences. With politics in country aligned to the caste system it is difficult to expect a social change despite Bhagwat’s attempts. The Scheduled Castes and Backwards got some justice after Mandal Commission report was made public and parties began experimenting with social engineering and political empowerment.
In 2022, Samvada, an RSS website, quoted Bhagwat as saying that problems like untouchability and inequality do not exist in scriptures. Yet some chaupais in epic Ramcharitmanas by Tulsidas continue to stir up emotions for its reference to shudras and women. Drastic change in mindsets is needed for society’s transformation.
The slashing of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA), NREGA in short, to Rs 60,000 crore in 2023-24 has taken some analysts by surprise. There is a reason why they are trying to figure out this deep cut - the allocation in this budget is the lowest-ever since 2006 and comes after a record outlay of over Rs 389.09 crore. In 2021-22 also the allocation was around Rs 300 crore. One obvious reason is that the worst is behind us. The record allocations were meant to help the rural poor during the pandemic when jobs were scarce. The government also made impressive provision for food subsidy to help the poor during the Covid period. Incidentally, the outlay for food subsidy has also been cut in this year’s budget. Two other minor aspects of NREGA also need mention. The employment scheme was grossly misused for pilfering the exchequer’s funds. The other reason could have been to check diversion of labour from farm activity.

January’s domestic air traffic at 1.25 crore: Icra
New Delhi (PTI): Domestic air passenger traffic touched 1.25 crore in January this year, an increase of 96% compared to the year-ago period, according to Icra. However, it said the traffic remained around 2% lower compared to the pre-Covid levels -- Jan 2020. The traffic stood at 64 lakh in January last year.
Icra is maintaining a negative outlook on the Indian aviation industry, reflecting the view that the financial performance of Indian airlines is likely to remain under pressure in
the near term, even though the recovery in domestic passenger traffic has been healthy.
While a meaningful improvement in passenger traffic is expected in FY2023, the pace of recovery in the industry earnings will be gradual, it said.
Mumbai (PTI): Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday said Current Account Deficit (CAD) is expected to moderate in second half of 2022-23 from 3.3% of GDP in AprilSeptember mainly due to moderation in imports.
CAD, a key indicator of the external sector, had widened to 3.3% of GDP in first half of 2022-23 from 0.2% in the comparable period of 2021-22 on the back of a sharp increase in the merchandise trade deficit.
"The situation has shown improvement in Q3:2022-23 as imports moderated in the wake of lower commodity prices, resulting in narrowing of the merchandise trade deficit," the Governor said.
"The CAD is expected to moderate in H2:2022-23 and remain eminently manageable and within the parameters of viability," he said.
On the financing of CAD, the Governor said the net FDI flows remain strong at $22.3 billion during AprilDecember 2022 ($24.8 billion in the corresponding period last year).

Despicable that those who broke Sena should claim legitimacy, says Uddhav
Raut should try and win without our votes: Shambhuraj
If
they are going to be disqualified, how can the Election Commission accept their claim?
First India Bureau
Mumbai: Uddhav
Thackeray, the head of the Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena, held a press conference on Wednesday and strongly attacked the 'rebel' Shinde faction. On this occasion, he mentioned about three types of party legislature, parliament and street party. He also said that he does not believe that there is any other Shiv Sena. Thackeray, referring to the ongoing hearings at two placesthe Supreme Court and the Election Commission - said that people have questiones regarding what will happen next in the Thackeray group vs Shinde group dispute.
“What will happen to Shiv Sena in the future months? Who they get party name, symbol or not? What will happen to those who stabbed in the back? There is confusion about this. There will be a continuous
hearing in the Supreme Court from the 14th. The hearing of the Election Commission has been completed. Shiv Sena (Thackeray) has submitted its statement in writing. What will happen, is the biggest question in everyone's minds," Uddhav Thackeray said.
"One thing is clear. Any party is formed on the basis of the people. If the party depends only on the elected people's representatives, then tomorrow two or three industrialists of the country can break the MLAs-MPs and become the Prime Minister or Chief Minister of the country. The party is at two levels. One is legislature, the other is parliamentary and beyond that is the main party street. A party which follows its leader, its constitution is Shiv Sena. Elections are held according to that constitution," Thackeray said.
"This time the elec-

tion was expected to be held on January 23. We have demanded this from the Election Commission that either allow us to conduct this election or let us continue as it is. No such response from the commission has come yet. Election will happen after the permission of the Election Commission," he said.
Sena flouting Balasaheb’s word to EC’
First India Bureau
Mumbai: Recently, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had made a statement that the Shiv Sena follows its leader and its constitution and the party will hold elections according to that constitution. But, the Shinde group has alleged that this statement of Uddhav is misleading.
“The information given by Uddhav is misleading. In 2013 and 2018, the constitution of Shiv Sena was amended, in which the post of Shiv Sena chief was kept intact while creating a new post of Party Chief.”
“Balasaheb Thackeray had given an assurance to EC 1998 that a democratic system would be implemented in the party. But, in the party elections held in 2013 and 2018, the demo-
—Rahul Shewale
cratic system was not implemented. There was no objection to Uddhav Thackeray’s party chief post and no voting
was held for other posts,” claimed Shewale.
Uddhav had commented that EC should not give decision until decision of Supreme Court regarding the disqualification of 16 MLAs. Speaking on this, Shewale said, “Decision of SC regarding disqualification of MLAs is still pending. But SC hassaid that EC is an independent system and it has the right to make decisions. It is unfortunate that they don’t know this decision.”
"Balasaheb Thackeray looks like Shiv Sena chief, so we fixed that word or kept it as it is. After that I created the post of Shiv Sena party chief and I am looking after the affairs since last few years. In Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) the post of a prominent leader is unconstitutional. The traitors who claims to be the leader
of Shiv Sena have told us that the Shiv Sena constitution is not acceptable to us. As per the Shiv Sena constitution, they then created some posts. There is the post of head of the department. What the commission has said we have completed that. We have submitted the affidavits of our office bearers. We have also shown
the number of our members. Now if the traitor group claims that an elected MP or MLA is a party, then it is ridiculous. Because then the Election Commission did not need to wait so long. So I have no reason to be surprised. But if we believe that there is democracy in the country, then there is democracy within the party also. We make choices accordingly", he said. Citing the age old question of what came first chicken or egg, Thackeray said, "It is a very despicable and perverse act that those who broke the mandate of the party on June 20 should claim against Shiv Sena. The disqualification should be decided first. It happened in the month of June. In July, anti-Sena faction went to the commission and filed a claim against the Shiv Sena (Thackeray). According to some constitutional experts, disqualification should be fixed first. If they are going to be disqualified, how can the Election Commission accept their claim?
First India Bureau Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray and party MP Sanjay Raut is also challenging Shinde to contest the elections from Worli seat. On this, Minister of State Shambhuraj Desai has challenged Sanjay Raut to contest the elections without their support. Desai said, “Sanjay Raut was elected on our votes and became a Rajya Sabha MP. He should resign and contest again. He should try get elected as MP without us.”
“We have strictly followed the rules, the constitution, the procedure of the Election Commission. We have taken this stand within the framework of the law. We believe in the judiciary. We believe in the provisions contained in the Constitution of the Central Election Commission. So we are confident that justice will be served,”
40 out of 55 MLAs and 13 out of 18 MPs are on our side, he said
added Desai. Desai further said, “We have more MLAs and MPs, so they will not be able to hijack the party. We will know the decision of the Election Commission. People from both sides have gone to court, so we all should believe in God for justice.” Desai also expressed confidence that the verdict of the court will be in favour of the Shinde group while saying that ‘40 out of 55 MLAs and 13 out of 18 MPs are on our side.’

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India has increased the repo rate by 0.25%. After this, home loans and car loans are going to be expensive and the direct impact of this will fall on the common man’s pocket. NCP
MLA Rohit Pawar has targeted the central government over this.
Speaking on the decision, Rohit Pawar said, “Common man is constantly facing difficulties due to government’s wrong economic policies. Similarly, with RBI’s increase in repo rate by 0.25%, home loans and auto loans will become more expensive, and people will have to bear the brunt of higher EMIs.”
“While the inflation is not reducing; the
common man does not see any relief even from the recently presented budget. So it seems that time has come for the RBI to raise the repo rate reluctantly. I hope that the government will take some lessons from this while planning the economic policies,” criticized Pawar. Pawar claimed that banks can also pay more interest on fixed deposits after the repo rate increases. However, this decision depends on the bank.
REMEMBERING THE GREATS
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has alleged that the Central government did everything possible to “forcefully” prevent import of COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer, especially when people were ready to get the best vaccine.
Rao claimed that he and several other Chief Ministers had lobbied for Pfizer in India, but the PM Modi Government stalled the entry of the US pharmaceutical giant into India. The Chief Minister’s remark at his recent rally in Maharashtra’s Nanded came days after Union Minister of State for Electronics and Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar claimed that Pfizer had “tried to bully the Indian government into accepting an indemnity clause for supplying its mRNA

First India Bureau Mumbai: The swearing-in ceremony of newly elected MLAs who won Maharashtra Legislative Council elections concluded on Wednesday at Vidhan Bhavan. On the occasion, the oath taken by the Independent MLA of Nashik Graduate Constituency Satyajit Tambe has become a
topic of discussion.
While other members took the names of their senior leaders and nobles, Satyajit Tambe initially took the names of great men like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shahu Maharaj, Phule, and Ambedkar. Tambe also saluted his grandfather Bhausaheb Thorat and took the oath.
Satyajit Tambe’s father, former MLA Sudhir Tambe, has also reacted on the matter by tweeting the video of
his son taking the oath.
“Satyajit took oath today as a member of the Legislative Council after saluting Chhatra-

Addressing a press conference in Maharashtra’s Nanded, KCR said that “Make in India” has become a “Joke in India.”
“Today many multinational companies are leaving China, but why are we not able to attract them? Why
“There is a company namely Pfizer, which manufactures vaccines, it was stopped from entering India during COVID-19. No matter how hard the company tried but they (the Centre) did not allow them to come here. What was the reason?” questioned the Telangana chief minister. “While the public wanted to get the best vaccine, people also wanted to buy it, yet the company was stopped forcefully. We also tried, many Chief Ministers also had talks with PMO and Niti Aayog but they (Govt) did not allow them (Pfizer) to come,” KCR said.
pati Shivaji Maharaj, Shahu, Phule, Ambedkar, and Sahkar Maharshi Bhausaheb Thorat. I believe Satyajit will do his best to do justice to this post. Satyajit, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors,” tweeted Sudhir Tambe.
Notably, Nashik Graduate Constituency election remained in discussion across the
state. After Satyajit Tambe filed his independent nomination form, Mahavikas Aghadi nominated Shubhangi Patil. However, in this tight contest, Satyajit Tambe was elected by a huge margin for the first time, and he officially entered the legislature on Wednesday. He has previous experience as a Zila Parishad member.

CITY BUZZ
People call me privileged, but it’s a disadvantage ”

Janhvi Kapoor has made her mark in the film industry by making some interesting choices very early in her career.
The actress has done some remarkable performances such as Mili, GoodLuck Jerry and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, among others. In a new interview, Jahnvi reflected on how people assume 'she’s gotten by easily in life', and the role her mom Sridevi plays in her life choices.
Speaking about the difference between trolling and actual criticism, the actress mentioned in a recent interview, “No matter
something to say, because that makes them feel important. Next thing you know, you’ve made the headlines…and unfortunately, people feed off of that.”
The actress said “You know, it really hurts when you’re putting in the hard work, the sweat and blood, or undergoing the mental turmoil, and some random, anonymous person on the Internet goes like, ‘Acting nahi aati toh kyun karti ho, nepotism ki bacchi?’ (If you can’t act, why do you try, nepo-baby?). It takes all of a second to reduce you to something insignificant. On the other hand, if somebody says, ‘You were good in Mili, but you could improve your performance in another film,’ then I respect that," she added.
Janhvi added, "I am prioritising hard work. And I’ve always
been very clear about my goals in life... I want to live up to my mother’s [Sridevi] legacy. This doesn’t come from a place of arrogance, but a desire to want to give back to my parents, as well as the audience. While I may have gotten certain opportunities more easily, I also feel like I’m at a disadvantage. In the sense, people aren’t going to come and watch my films from a neutral perspective — they’re going to come in saying, ‘Oh, she’s gotten by easily in life; she’s privileged.’
So I have to convince them that I have something to offer; I work hard, and I value everything that I have been given. I love cinema, and I am not apologetic about it anymore, because I know I’m good at what I do... I’m just warming up."
