ge is just a number, according to the old adage. Whether you are turning 20 or 60, it is your inner age and how young you feel that really counts. This is even more true when you create everyday healthy habits that help you feel younger. hen the weather's right for enjoying the backyard, the last thing you want is to have your good time spoiled by pesky insects. Fortunately, there are things you can do to protect family and friends from mosquitoes and other insects. Controlling Mosquitoes Not only are mosquitoes a nuisance, they can be harmful to your health. To reduce your risk of getting mosquito bites - and exposure to West Nile virus - the Environmental Protection Agency recommends that you take some preventative measures around the yard:
Eliminate standing water. Check old tires, buckets, plastic covers, toys, or other containers where mosquitoes can breed. Empty and change water in fountains, bird baths, wading pools, rain barrels and potted plant trays at least once a week to destroy potential mosquito habitats. Drain or fill temporary pools of water with dirt. Keep swimming pools treated and circulating. Make sure rain gutters are unclogged.
One of the easiest steps you can take is to select an insect repellent that is right for you and your family. "As a pediatrician and as a mom, I get questions all the time about the correct insect repellent to use," said Dr. Gwenn O'Keeffe. "It's important that families remember to use repellents regularly, just as you would sun protection." Faces Of Skin Cancer
S
ummer is here, which means swimming, picnics and barbecues. These warmer days encourage many people to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. However, many are unaware of the serious consequences that can develop from sun exposure, including advanced skin cancer. An estimated one in five Americans will develop some form of skin cancer in their lifetime. Most cases can be cured if caught early and treated when the disease is restricted to a small area. However, in some instances the cancer may come back or spread to other parts of the body. When skin cancer becomes advanced, the disease can be debilitating and, in some cases, may even become deadly. A diagnosis at this advanced stage can be devastating. According to a recent online survey of people affected by advanced skin cancer, *people diagnosed with this disease often feel scared, overwhelmed and isolated.
However, a new online resource called Faces of Skin Cancer provides resources that can help. The program offers people with advanced skin cancer and their caregivers an opportunity to hear from others and share their experiences with those who've been affected. Faces of Skin Cancer aims to make a difference in the lives of those affected by advanced skin cancer by offering a platform for sharing stories. The website features stories of people affected by advanced skin cancer and their experiences, including ways they have coped with this disease. The website also allows for visitors to share their own stories about advanced skin cancer. For each story submitted, $1 will be donated to advanced skin cancer programs. Remember, it is always important to be mindful of the sun's harmful rays even when the sun is not out. Skin should be protected by wearing tightly woven clothing and a wide-brimmed hat, applying sunscreen that has a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher and seeking shade. *Survey of 238 respondents was conducted in March 2012 on behalf of Genentech, The Skin Cancer Foundation and Melanoma Research Foundation.

Back to School Games In the month of August and September both teachers and family think about school returning. This is an article dedicated to help give ideas for activity for those people wanting to integrate activity with school.
Academic and Activity Games D.E.A.R. Tag Materials: Book for each player One player is chosen to be the librarian. That player chases the other players, who each carry a book. To save themselves from being tagged, players can stop running, open their book, and begin reading out loud. The "librarian" can't tag them as long as they are reading audibly and standing still. Tagged players are sent to the “library” (section of the game’s space), where they sit and read their books. To free them, other players have to run to the library and swap books with the tagged players. The last player to be tagged becomes the new librarian. The game ends when everyone is in the library. Brown Bag Relay Materials: large brown bag and various plastic foods Talk to the group about the importance of having a balanced lunch. In their relay, they take one food item and put it in the bag for each turn. They must have one fruit, vegetable, meat, dairy, bread, and one desert. The group that finishes the task of making a balanced lunch wins! Pass the Crayon Material: crayon In this game, nobody wants to hold the crayon. To begin the game, all students sit in a circle. Select one person to be the “student.” That person holds the crayon. The teacher or a "caller" tells the person holding the crayon, "Name five presidents of the United States. Now, pass the crayon!" As soon as the caller says to begin, the person holding the crayon begins listing presidents and passes it to the right. Students quickly pass the crayon around the circle. If it

returns to the original holder before he or she can name five presidents of the United States, the holder is still the “student.” Otherwise, the person holding the crayon when the “student” lists five presidents is the new “student.” You should prepare the topic cards for this game in advance. Topics can relate to your curriculum or be general information topics. The student who is the “student” must name five items in the called-out category to get rid of the dreaded crayon! Person, Place, and Thing Relay Materials: dry erase board and dry erase marker Review what is a noun? Divide teams equally and have boards scattered in the line. Have the first person on the team go to the first board and write a person, run to the second and write a place, and the third write a thing. Then, they touch the turnaround line and run back. No one can use a particular noun twice, and the team that makes their list complete first wins. Adjective Relay Material: Post-it Note and Pen for each group

Divide each group equally. Discuss what is a adjective. Give each group a pen. Have the first person in each line run to the midway point and stand. The second person in line comes down with five post-it notes and a pen. They run to the first person at the midway point and think of and write five adjectives to describe that person. Then the first person and the second person run together back to the line and switch roles. The first group that finishes wins.
Parachute Games Group Balance Materials: parachute Make sure everyone in the group has a good grip on the parachute and then tell them to lean back slowly at the same time. Remind children to roll the edge several times and tuck their fingers in under the roll before leaning. As students lean, the parachute gets tighter and tighter. If all members work together, no one should fall. As an added bonus, have the players face outward and lean back from the parachute.
Rabbit and Hounds Materials: Parachute and two colored balls Put two different colored or types of balls on the parachute. Name one ball the “Hound” and the other the “Rabbit.” Hound’s team tries to catch the rabbit by seeing how many times the ball hits the Rabbit ball while the other team helps the Rabbit get away by shaking it off the chute. Designate half of the parachute participants as the Hounds and the other half as the Rabbits. The team that better manipulates the balls wins. Competitive Rock n- Roll Materials: Parachute and playground ball Have children start with a crossover underhand grip. Mark an imaginary line across the diameter of the chute. Have equal teams hold the edge of the chute on either side. Throw a ball into the middle. The aim is to get the ball off the chute on the other team's side of the line, and stop it from coming off on your own side of the line. Bouncing Ball Buddies Materials: balls and parachute Place two or three children under the chute. The children under the chute have try to push off the balls while every one else tries to keep them bouncing on the chute. 6 | The FC Sep/Oct 2012
Roll and Flow Materials: parachute Have children start with an overhand grip. Everyone holds the chute taut. Place a large ball near the edge. Try to make the ball roll around the edge of the chute. To do this, one student starts the ball rolling. As it comes towards the student, lower the edge you are holding, and as it goes past the student raises the edge. When all the players do this in synchronization, it creates a kind of wave around the edge of the chute, which pushes the ball in a smooth steady circle. Save the Canoe Materials: small ball and parachute A ball is placed on the parachute, representing a canoe. Players wave the chute so that it ripples. Encourage the waves to be ones that will allow the ball to not fall off the edge of the chute. Students try to get their canoe to safety as soon as possible through the hole in the center of the parachute. For a variation of this game try to use an overhand, underhand, and crossover grips.
Sports Ball Games Volley Ball Adventure Materials: playground ball and parachute Divide the class in half down the middle of the parachute. With a soft, medium-sized balloon on the parachute, have students try to flip the balls onto the other team's side. Some adaptations include having the students hold the parachute in various handgrips. Goofy Golf Materials: small ball and parachute Toss the ball on the chute. Begin waving the chute, trying to maneuver the ball through the hole. When the ball is sunk, name someone to go under the chute, get the ball, and toss it back on the chute. See how many strokes it takes to get the ball in the hole. Have the children count aloud as they wave the chute.
Fun Ball Games with Parachutes Sink the Colored Ball Materials: parachute and small balls Put balls of different colors on the chute. Call out one color. Have the children work together to sink that ball down the

hole. After that ball has been sunk, call out the color of the second ball and try to sink it.

Sliding and Gliding Materials: Ball and parachute Grasp the edge of the parachute with an underhand grip. Place one ball on the parachute. Make the ball slide around the chute by slowly raising the chute up and down. Keep the ball rolling so that it does not go off the edge. Surfing U.S.A. Materials: Ball and parachute Place a large ball on top of a flat chute and roll it around the edge. Players should lift the parachute just after the ball passes by. Timing is important. If someone lifts up a section of the parachute too soon, the ball slows down and stops. If someone lifts a section too late, the ball either runs into the player or off the chute. Test and hypothesize with various sizes of balls. Discuss which ones come off first and why. Ball Burp Materials: Ball and chute Put a few balls on the chute and on the count of three wave your parachute high in the air with one quick motion to the ground. See if you can get all of the balls to pop off the chute. In conclusion as you are preparing for students as a teacher or as a parent sending your children to school pray for those adults that will influence your childrens’ lives and that they will be able to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of each child during the year. Pray for protection from bad influences and any teachers/coaches that would be a negative effect on your child. Bruschetta with Skillet-Seared Mushrooms and Grana Padano

aking dishes worthy of a choice restaurant menu doesn't mean spending hours in the kitchen. Introducing Montasio Cheese Montasio, with a savory, well-balanced flavor, is new to many Americans, but its origins can be traced back to a 17th-century monastery. pound asparagus, trimmed tablespoons extra virgin olive oil tablespoon orange juice teaspoons white wine vinegar teaspoon salt teaspoon freshly ground black pepper slices Prosciutto di San Daniele (4 ounces), halved lengthwise navel oranges, peeled and segmented cup pine nuts, toasted

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Wrap spinach in a towel, squeeze until dry; chop fine. In small bowl, mix flour, salt and cayenne. In medium saucepan, bring milk and butter to a boil. Remove from heat and add flour mixture; with wooden spoon, beat until it thickens and pulls away from sides, about 1 minute.
In small bowl, whisk olive oil, orange juice, vinegar, salt and pepper. Divide asparagus on salad plates and drizzle with dressing. Arrange Prosciutto di San Daniele and orange segments over asparagus; sprinkle with pine nuts.
(Puffs can be held at room temperature up to 1 day or frozen; reheat in 400ºF oven, 3 to 5 minutes.)
Ziti with Roasted Cauliflower, Prosciutto di Parma and Toasted Breadcrumbs
In food processor, pulse bread to form crumbs. In shallow pan, mix breadcrumbs with 1 tablespoon olive oil; toast until golden, stirring once, about 5 minutes.

Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well until incorporated. Stir in spinach and cheese. Drop rounded spoonfuls onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 1 inch apart. Bake until golden, 20 to 25 minutes.

Fill the Water Tray with 1 ½ cups water. Microwave on high for 15 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. When cool enough to handle, slice the chicken into thin slices. Set aside. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Place 1/4 cup of the cheese on one side of each tortilla. Fold the tortilla in half and then place in the pan, cooking in batches. Cook for 2 minutes on each side, until cheese is melted and exterior of the tortilla is golden. Set aside and keep warm. Check the Neck for Ripeness Ripeness is the key to enjoying pears at their sweetest and juiciest. To judge a pear's ripeness, USA Pear growers advise you to "check the neck." For Pie Crust: HEAT oven to 350°F. Toss together coconut, sugar and lime zest in a medium mixing bowl. Add butter and stir until crumbly. Making Homemade Caramel If you want to make your own creamy caramel topping or dip, heat sweetened condensed milk, following these directions. For safety reasons, do not heat in the can.
In large pot, combine 3 cups water, sweetener, lavender, hibiscus, chamomile tea and mint. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low. Add pears and simmer until you can easily pierce pears with the tip of a knife, about 20 minutes.
● Oven: Pour one 14-ounce can into a 9-inch pie plate. Cover with aluminum foil; place in larger shallow pan in oven. Fill larger pan with about 1/2 inch of hot water to surround plate. Bake at 425°F for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until thick and caramel colored.

The right beat for a sweet-heart

I
will never forget Dr. Churchwell telling me “you have the strongest unhealthy heart I’ve ever seen.” He was doing a consultation with my surgeon prior to repairing my congenital heart defect. It sounded quite strange but then I realized he was actually complimenting me on my fitness. As he diagrammed the shape of my heart on the small dry-erase board in my hospital room, one side of my heart appeared normal in size, while the other side enveloped the rest of the board. The side with the hole was really “big”. He said “Once the repair is made the large side will return to normal, and the other enlarged organs will return to normal, as well.” Funny how one little hole was impacting my whole body.

Characterizing me as passionate about heart health is an understatement. God has healed my heart physically and spiritually, and He has taught me the process of pacing myself, tweaking my workouts and listening to my body. God wants me to have a “big” heart for Him, and His people, while maintaining a healthy heart through exercise. When the physical and spiritual architecture of the heart are in sync, it produces the right beat for a sweet-heart. On Mondays and Wednesdays, my classes are focused on cardiovascular exercises, and we go in search of the right beat. When choosing the music for the class, the beats per minute really matter. I search the music selections and pick a contemporary Christian CD with between 140-150 beats per minute. My goal is to keep our heart rate up most of the 60 minutes of exercise. With the Christian music singing a sweet message to the heart, the higher tempo of beats per minute is keeping the hearts in the class physically challenged. With exercise, especially cardiovascular exercise, I’m all in. What I mean is its full force, sort of like the heart. The heart works twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. That makes it kind of important to the body. If it takes a few minutes off, I’m praising God and arranging fitness classes in heaven.
The average heart beats 72 times per minute pumping blood and carrying oxygen to all parts of the body. When the heart contracts it does so with all its force. The goal is to help my students maximize heart health so they may be fully utilized for the work God has prepared for them. The seasoned students understand the goal before them as class begins. They have enjoyed the benefits of good heart health and have realized the increased energy level cardiovascular exercise offers. New students are apprehensive but encouraged by those more experienced. Within a few minutes the student heart rates are climbing, staying in rhythm with fast paced music. As the students follow my pacing, heart rates are elevating to 85% of maximum heart rate. For the newer students modifications are available for the exercises and they work at 50-75% of their maximum heart rate. But what is your maximum heart rate? Here’s how it is figured. If you are male subtract your age from 220. For females, subtract 88% of your age from 206. The target rate for exercise is considered to be 50 to 85% of your maximum, because you will gain the most benefits and lessen your risk when you exercise in this zone. Swimmers should use a

heart rate target of 75% of the maximum and subtract 12 beats per minute since the heart slows down when it is immersed in water. For instance, Theresa’s target heart rate 88% of 49 (age) =43.12 206-43.12=162.88 85% of 162.88=137.7 (Maximum) Know your maximum and target heart rates before you start. Wearing a heart rate monitor helps in monitoring my heart rate and provides a good idea about the level and intensity of the class. Exercise is only one part of the story. It is most important we guard our hearts and meditate on God’s word daily. There is no electronic heart monitor to spiritually keep and protect the heart. That is why it is so important to stay in His word. He tells us in Proverbs 4:20-23 to listen to His words and never let them get away from us. He tells us to keep them in our hearts and they will give life and health to anyone who understands. Stress, loss, disappointment and heartache can fester and destroy a healthy heart. Take the issues to God immediately and work them out. Do not let them linger and grab a foothold. They can be as destructive as clogged arteries because they can steal hope. Proverbs 13:12 tells us, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” When we trust Him fully,
God turns disappointments into opportunities for joy. He is always working things out for our good and His glory. We can all recall obstacles that He turned into footstools. When things work out, without explanation, you have just experienced the grace of God. My life has had its up and downs, but I am climbing higher, thanks to Him. My former lack of trust has been replaced with Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your path straight.” My sweetheart will attest that I am still a work in progress, especially with my stubborn attitude at times. But he and I can agree that only God can heal a broken, disappointed or hard heart. He fills all the holes and tells us so in Ezekiel 36:26. “I will give you a new heart and a new mind. I will take away your stubborn heart of stone and give you an obedient heart.”

Running Through the Seasons As Worship © 2012 by Chris Chapan
I love to run in all of the seasons. It helps me see the wonder and majesty of God’s handiwork and His creation. Ecclesiastes 3:3 tells us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” In this article I will share with you the worship of the Lord as I see Him running through the seasons. In the winter I love to run when snow has just fallen on the ground. It is soft, white, and comforting despite the cold I may feel when I initially go outside. My training partner points out to me the uniqueness of various birds in their formations of flight and call. I see art greater than I have ever seen in a museum as I look at the branches that have the perfect blend of snow and ice. It seems in winter that life stands still, yet alive, and that the Lord is saying to us: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6). Even though most people don’t spend time outside in the winter, there are sights, sounds, and feelings that the Lord provides just for those who take the time to seek them. When life is either sleeping or waiting for the coming months, I know that as I worship He has great plans for me.
Spring brings to my life new beginnings. As the Lord gives us another chance, spring does just that, too. I love the green that begins to sprout on the grass and all the trees, and the buds that faithfully make their way from the ground. The detail from even a wildflower reminds me that Jesus sees every detail and concern in our life. Just as the Lord is there again and again, I see that in nature. When I see a family of deer or birds, I am reminded how the Lord takes care of me and my family when I trust Him. When I run by the local viaducts, I am reminded of the newness of every morning, watching the ducks play, fly, and drink in families and groups. “Shout joyfully to God...How awesome are your works” (Psalm 66:1,3). Summer brings marathon training and an opportunity for me to connect through training and a way for me to share my faith through my conversations, encouragement, and willingness to pray for various needs. I love the early and late arrival of the sun and the fact that I can just jump out of bed and run. Due to the longer showing of the sun, I can run in the neighborhood or
on the trail. I love to see the neighborhoods that have beautiful lawns and flowers that show the Lord’s perfect form of beauty. As I increase my mileage in running, I see colors and textures that could never been planned except by the Lord for His glory. I see the Lord’s hand as I participate in various sports and training, and how the Lord provides wind, rain, and sunshine to show His perfect handiwork. Only in the summer can I have both hot and sweet wind in my face. The Lord reminds us in Habakkuk 2:14, “The earth is See “Running as Worship”on page 21

Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year. The weather is cooler and it is a time for change as I see the trees and flowers go from green to various colors and textures. Even though for most of the plants, flowers, and grass it is a time for death and sleeping, for me it is a time to embrace change.
In conclusion, I may change what I wear depending on the season but God never changes no matter what the season of life. It is as Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us, “For everything there is a season.” We are also told in Psalm 66:1,3, “Shout joyfully to God…How awesome are your works.” Oftentimes I just lift my hands into the air and praise God as I see an awesome multi-colored sunrise, a family of deer along the trail, a shooting star across the sky, or a quick flash of a rabbit hopping along the trail. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).

filled with the Lord’s glory.” The sunshine, the full trees, and the flowers show me the majesty of the Lord. I love the sights of various birds that my training partner knows and the echoing of frogs and insects with their calling of mates and life. Cross— training with swimming and biking for my triathlon brings me close to the Holy Spirit as I seek him for guidance for the coming school year and thankfulness for the coolness of the water, the breeze, the sun, and the shade that makes for a perfect summer afternoon.
And as flowers have their finality, I see the harvest of hard training as I compete in my marathon and triathlon events. Even the skunk that almost crossed my path but missed me with his aroma shows me God protects me in so many ways I don’t even realize every day.

I have come to recognize three things that together form God's vision for the church and for each member of the church: 1) We are to know God in an ever-deepening personal relationship and be conformed to the nature of Jesus Christ; 2) We are to grow in our love for all believers, working for the unity of the church; 3) We are to take the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to all men. accept Jesus as their personal savior. Lost souls were saved by His grace, and they were baptized with water baptism and with the Holy Spirit. Also, we started an orphanage with 24 orphans, and now we are blessed with 61 children comprising of ages 5 year to 20 years old . We have raised nearly three groups children in our home who are now adults and settled in different areas with different jobs, with some now having children of their own.
FC: What are the greatest strengths of your ministry? L.A.M.P.: Our family, friends, our Church and Pastors, and all the prayers of fellow believers.
FC: What are your greatest needs? L.A.M.P.: Regular monthly sponsorship for our orphanage, and a van for our ministry outreaches to be able to travel to tribal areas. â€

When you volunteer, your time and effort not only helps others, but can actually benefit you in tangible ways. Moses now prepares Israel for his departure from this life. And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel. God knows that his chosen people will turn against him in the future. He leaves a song with Moses to testify against them in that day. Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

The Levites have the law written now, and are charged to refresh the memories of all of Israel on a regular basis.

Read Deuteronomy 31:10-13 They are to read the law before the people in the year of jubilee. Their children will learn the law and fear God. The role of Moses is drawing to a close now. Moses sings praise and proclaims the greatness of God to the world. His song declares the foolishness of a perverse generation. Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee. When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. Deuteronomy 32:7-12 Jacob, Israel is the inheritance of God, sheltered and carried as by an eagle. He has no strange God, only the God of his father Abraham.
God promises to provoke Israel to be jealous of a nation which is not even formed yet. He will judge them by people who are not wise to the people of Israel. Yet God will choose this nation to be their torment. Read Deuteronomy 32:23-28 This punishment is a time of fear and torment to extremes as described here. Indeed Israel was scattered around the world by the Romans, even after the Babylonian captivity. Yet the nations that destroy them are not allowed to claim that their own strength has done what God ordained. Read Deuteronomy 32:29-34 If Israel had chosen the wisdom of God they would have been the victors, chasing away thousands of the enemy. Those enemies were given to demons and the serpent, and did not know the Rock of Ages. Moses considers his own assurance of treasures in heaven to be a sealed promise. He may have stricken the Rock a second time, but he knows that the assurance of God’s mercy is real. †

The Doctrine is Love A scripture to help you focus on your Christian life. Meditate and pray on this verse from the Bible and see how it applies to your life, or how you should apply it. Ask the Lord for revelation and understanding on the scriptures and He will grant your request.
Angela J. Willard Perez is a mother of five who has learned through the years that she just cannot get through one day without God and prayer. She is the author of several articles and books including the book Christian Prayer Journal & Praise Report. She is also the publisher and editor of The Fit Christian magazine.
“When the Pharisees heard how he had bested the Sadducees, they gathered their forces for an assault. One of their religion scholars spoke for them, posing a question they hoped would show him up: "Teacher, which command in God's Law is the most important?" Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.' This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' These two commands are pegs; everything in God's Law and the Prophets hangs from them."” Matthew 22:34-40 The Message. You may have heard this scripture more often in the King James version rather than in The Message version, but The Message says it loud and clear. Here is the original:
“But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Matthew 22:34-40 NKJV. Whenever I hear someone talk about keeping the Ten Commandments, my Spirit rises up in defense of all that Jesus has done for us on the cross. He redeemed us from the Old Covenant and ushered in the New Covenant—we no longer have ten commandments, dear children of God, we have two. Did Jesus say, “Don’t follow the law of Moses any longer,” well, not really. What He said was, love God with everything you are and have, and love others as you love yourself—and in doing so, you will not go against the law. If we just LOVE, then we are obeying the commandments that God set forth in the Old and the New Covenants. And what a freeing revelation that is—no more bondage to “do this, but don’t do that.” You don’t have to remember all ten, and keep looking up to make sure you haven’t broken one. No! No more old covenant—when Jesus was hanging on the cross He said “It is finished!” The old has gone, the new has come. We have so much freedom in Christ that I cannot even begin to explain it all in one teaching, but is was a start. I see so many people who walk around in condemnation, and they are Christians. They have been taught wrong from well meaning pastors and teachers of the law, so they continue to try to follow the law of the Old Covenant, without being told that the Old Covenant ended at the Cross of Christ (Read Romans 8: 1-4). Galatians 5 tells us “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (verse 1). That yoke is the law, which brings death. It is the Spirit which brings life, the Spirit of grace. “You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace” (verse 4). Like Paul said, “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (verse 14). “If you love me, you will obey what I command” John 14:15. †
