In December, I was an inch away from publishing this Winter issue when I had to move out of the home I had been renting, with nowhere to go. I didn’t even get on the laptop for two weeks while my boys and I stayed with a pastor friend of mine and his wife. I was mad at God because we were "homeless" once again. More challenges have hit our family since then, some would call those challenges “traumatic” but for me, battle is part of life. Even so, the Holy Spirit would continue to nudge me to publish the issue, and I would ignore Him and focus on other ministry tasks, almost begging our Heavenly Father to allow me to just let the magazine die. But He would not relent. I must persevere, even when I don't "feel" like it and especially when the going gets rough–for we walk by faith and not by sight.

I will continue with the magazine, only because I know that is what He wants me to do. He knows what He is doing and I just need to trust and obey Him. However, since the seasons of my life and ministry are rapidly changing (I have the gray hair to prove that), so will the magazine–I have decided to change it into a seasonal publication. To everything there is a season. I continue to pray and believe God for help with The FC, especially now since the ministry is growing so rapidly ... and I know He will bring in the laborers!

Do Your Homework Before Cutting Gluten In the battle to get leaner and healthier, people have been targeting many different food groups over the years, from fats to carbohydrates. Now, experts are weighing in on whether or not grains might be a culprit in the growing prevalence of certain diseases, including obesity and dementia.

Conflicting opinions on carbohydrates "Carbohydrates are awful for the brain," said Dr. David Perlmutter, neurologist and author of the new book "Grain Brain." "Eating carbohydrate foods increases blood sugar levels, which causes inflammation and can lead to dementias."

However, a recent study conducted by the University of Nebraska showed that eating whole grains, such as barley and brown rice, actually helped decrease inflammation.

Carolyn O'Neil, a registered dietitian, also agrees with these findings that dispute the elimination of carbohydrates in one's diet.

"Nothing could be further from the truth," O'Neil said. "A study by Centers for Disease Control researchers projected that if grains were eliminated then diets would be extremely low in folic acid, iron and B vitamins. Even those

with a gluten digestion problem have their choice of many nutritious gluten free grains to enjoy, including amaranth, buckwheat, corn, millet, non-contaminated oats, quinoa, rice, sorghum, teff and wild rice."

The experts weigh-in A growing number of people are being diagnosed with sensitivity to gluten, which is a condition that can cause a range of health problems. Gluten found in wheat, barley, rye and in oats processed in the same mills as those grains, cannot be digested by those with celiac disease (CD) and can affect the health of those who are gluten intolerant.

According to the National Institute of Health, between 5 percent and 10 percent of all people may suffer from a gluten sensitivity of some form. One out of every 133 Americans (about 3 million people) have Celiac Disease. Individuals with CD do need to consume a gluten-free diet. Nutrition experts in the United States and Canada state there is no evidence eating whole grains containing gluten poses widespread health risks for the rest of the population. Some experts, like Perlmutter, are also critical of wheat as a culprit in obesity.

This is a claim disputed by others, in-

cluding Judy Adams, registered dietitian with the Wheat Foods Council, who points out that Americans are actually eating less wheat today than they did one hundred years ago. O'Neil adds that those who are cutting gluten out of their diets in order to lose weight may wind up gaining instead.

"You can eat just as many or even more calories when choosing gluten free foods," she said. "After all, gluten free chocolate chip cookies are still chocolate chip cookies."

Although gluten may be at the center of the current debate, all sides seem to agree some factors do play a key role in a healthy lifestyle: physical activity; sleep; healthy fats, such as those in olive oil and avocado; and a Mediterranean style diet, which emphasizes fruits, vegetables and seafood.

With these healthy dieting elements in mind, and by keeping yourself informed about the facts and benefits of foods, you can make the most educated decision when choosing what to feed your family.

Michael Albrough is a man I met a few years ago. He has a passion for life and loves people. He is open, honest, and compassionate, caring deeply about others even when the truth is tough for them to hear. He believes that he is an ever-changing product that is directed by the Holy Spirit. Throughout our interview, he really believed that Christ is what a relationship with fitness and family is all about. He demonstrates Matthew 22:37,“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (NIV).

Michael was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He and his wife, Trish, make their home in Arizona, and have two young adult children, Lance and Jasmine. He studied journalism at Central Michigan University but also is certified through NSCA, ACE, and NASM. His passion in life is to train others to transform their bodies through working in the general population. Currently, he is self-employed as a fitness professional, working with clients and face-to-face or on-line.

He was saved at age 11 at a rural Baptist church in central Michigan.

He knew he needed a relationship with Christ and that His love and guidance were beyond what was of-

fered at home. He also realized his need for rededication a few years ago and currently attends a Bible-believing non-denominational church in Arizona.

You can definitely see his spiritual and physical fire in everything he does, living out 1 John 4:16:“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.

Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them”(NIV).

Albrough began to be interested in fitness and health at a young age. Despite starting off in a healthy lifestyle, Michael did make some choices he later regretted, such as financial mistakes, alcoholism, and others that led to depression and negativity. But in 2010, as he hit rock bottom, things began to change for him and his family. He started attending a church that believed in a relationship with Jesus Christ and living every day with Him through this personal relationship. To show his change in lifestyle inside and out, he and his family were baptized.

Mark 12:30 states,“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Now, through God’s grace, Michael truly shows God’s love.

He knew that by relying on the Lord he could turn things around for the good.

His life verse is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Michael says what is most important is accepting Christ as his Savior, which he feels provides love, understanding, and acceptance.

His beliefs are also tied to the love of Christ and to a God of forgiveness rather than a God of punishment or shame. As Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”(NIV).

head of his family, he has changed both on the inside and outside, becoming more compassionate toward people and starting to see the inner and outer sides of people. He believes through God’s grace he has found a better place. Ephesianstalks about the proper place a husband should have in his family as the leader and rudder, and he does that with his family. “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her” Ephesians 5:25 (NIV).

Despite his busy schedule and encouraging his family by taking the proper leadership role, Michael finds time to volunteer himself and his family for many organizations. Some of them include Relay for Life, Make-A-Wish, Salvation Army, Feed My Starving Children, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, through both fundraising and volunteering.

Winter is a great time to think about getting or staying in shape. This is a series of games that can be played in a gym and the focus is Winter fun! So instead of grabbing for the fruitcake try some fitness fun in this season.

Children take turns greeting each other by rolling a ball. One child takes the ball and says Hello (child’s name) says something that they like about winter and then roll the ball to another child in the circle. The catcher then says good morning to someone else and rolls the ball to him. Make sure that everyone has had a turn. Ask which children have not had a turn by putting their thumb up. The game is completed when everyone has had a turn.

Have partners place a piece of crumbled up newspaper or snowflake on the floor. Ask the partners to pick up the paper using the body parts called out the teacher such as elbow-toelbow, foot-to-foot, knee-to-knee, forearm to elbow, foot and elbow, knee and elbow, forehead and back of hand, toe, and finger.

Two lines are established at opposite ends of the playing area. One line is the goal line; the other is the starting line.

One player is “IT” and stands on the goal line and closes his eyes. When he calls “green snowflake,” players move toward him. When he calls “red snowflake” he opens his eyes and all of the players must stop moving. Yellow snowflake means walk slow and brown means sprint. Any player who

is caught in motion must return to the starting line. Players can continue moving if any color other than “red snowflake” is called. The suspense of the game occurs as the players wonder what color will be called and if they are free to move.

The first player to reach the goal wins. The last one to reach the goal is “IT” for the next game.

Snowman in the Middle

Active Games Snowflake Collection Day Materials: hula-hoop and leaves and newspapers Put a hula-hoop in each corner of your play area. Have equal numbers of Snowflakes in each hula-hoop. Divide the kids into teams. Each team stands by ‘their’ hula-hoop. This is their yard! Instruct them to begin to throw their snowflakes in the other members’ yard. Each group has to empty their hula-hoop by carrying the snowflakes one per trip to another team’s yard (hula-hoop). The snowflakes have to be put into the other team’s yard. Tossing is acceptable if the beanbag lands in the hoop, if not they have to retrieve it from the fallen area and put it in the hula-hoop. Make sure team members watch where they are going, to avoid accidents running into the other team. Count the number of snowflakes in each hoop at the end of the game. The team with the fewest snowflakes wins.

Snowflake Toss

A student is chosen to play the Snowman. He sits on a stool.

The other players move around the Snowman and tell him he cannot catch them. The Snowman tries to catch them without leaving his stool. The first one tagged is the next Snowman. This game also teaches alertness, agility, and self-control.

Snowman Says One player is the leader and orders the other players to make motions such as “Snowman says, thumbs up” or “Snowman says, hands on your head.” The leader also makes all of these motions. If he omits “Snowman says,” however, and just orders “Thumbs up,” the players must not make the motion. Anyone who does so is out of the game. The winner is the player who remains in the game the longest. This game shows the importance of following and listening to specific directions.

Preheat oven to 325°F. Remove packaging; reserve liquid.

Place ham cut-side down on large sheet of foil in roasting pan, pour reserved liquid over ham and wrap completely with foil. Warm ham in oven for 10 to 12 minutes per pound.

Do not overheat. After removing from oven, let sit for 5 minutes before glazing. Heat glaze packet for 15 sec-

1 ½ pounds Yukon gold potatoes, cut into 1 ½ -inch pieces 4 to 6 slices Smithfield Naturally Hickory Smoked Bacon ¼ cup bottled ranch dressing 2 tablespoons buttermilk or whole milk 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar Salt and pepper

Cook potatoes in boiling, salted water until very tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Drain; return to saucepan and mash coarsely.

Cook bacon in a large heavy skillet over medium heat until browned; drain and crumble. Pour off drippings from skillet, leaving clinging particles in skillet. Add potatoes, salad dressing, buttermilk and vinegar to skillet; stir until well blended.

Preheat oven to 350°F. In large mixing bowl, combine first 7 ingredients and place in prepared 13-inch by 9inch casserole dish. Combine crushed butter crackers and melted butter and spread over top of casserole. Bake for 45 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

Note: Add 1 cup diced ham and 1 cup shredded cooked chicken to this recipe to make it a main dish.

1. Line 9-inch square baking pan with foil. Spray foil with no stick cooking spray. Place chopped chocolate in large bowl. Set aside.

Bring sweetened condensed milk

and cream to simmer in medium saucepan on medium heat, stirring frequently with wire whisk. Pour over chopped chocolate. Let stand 1 minute.

Whisk until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Stir in peppermint extract. Remove 3/4 cup chocolate mixture. Tint chocolate mixture pink with red food color.

Pour remaining (plain) chocolate

mixture to prepared pan. Drop tinted chocolate mixture by tablespoons over chocolate mixture in pan. Swirl with knife for marble effect.

Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight

until firm. Cut into 36 squares. (May be made ahead. Store chocolate mixture, tightly covered, in pan in refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Bring to room temperature before cutting into squares.)

thread a marshmallow half and a chocolate square onto each lollipop stick. Wrap each hot chocolate on a stick in plastic wrap or small cellophane bag. (May be assembled up to 2 days ahead.)

package King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls 3 cups diced cooked turkey 8 ounces mild cheddar cheese shredded 4 large eggs, beaten 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon dijon or spicy mustard 3 tablespoom butter, melted 3 cups milk 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper Place bread, turkey and cheese in large bowl and blend gently with large spoon. In another bowl, whisk eggs, add flour, whisk again. Then add mustard, melted butter, milk, salt and pepper. Whisk thoroughly. Pour milk mixture over bread, turkey and cheese. Stir gently to blend (be careful not to over-stir as bread can become too moist and break apart). Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes for bread to absorb liquid. Pour into buttered 2-quart baking dish. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake 50 minutes until light golden and puffed. Test by inserting knife into center.

If knife comes out clean with little liquid, casserole is ready.

Tips for Staying Healthy Even With a Busy Schedule Life can sometimes feel a little too jam-packed with work, errands, carpools, cooking dinner and more.

Recovery is Important to Any Workout Got an athlete in the house? Whether she is hitting the soccer field or he's going for it on the gridiron, what happens post-practice or after a game time is just as important as the workout on the field. Allowing muscles to recover properly is essential for a healthy season - and off-season training regime.

During a strenuous workout or game, muscle fibers can fray and become damaged. Follow these five steps for a successful season: Pump up protein: After a workout, athletes need a combination of carbohydrates and protein to replenish and help rebuild muscles. Follow the 2:1 ratio rule to make sure you have the right calibration for optimal absorption of protein. In January 2014, the Lord gave me this verse telling me this is my verse for January. In my natural mind I thought stability meant a home, a place to live–since at the time I received this verse I was staying with a fellow minister, having lost our home the month prior. Little did I know….

Not long after this I witnessed one of my adult sons, under heavy demonic attack, grab a knife and threaten to kill himself. I would beg him to put it down to no avail. He slit his wrist while I was praying for God to send angels to help. The pastor we were staying with called for help. That day we had to move into his church, still having nowhere else to live. My son did not handle the news well; he was tired of being homeless. He felt defeated, discouraged and helpless–just wanting to go home.

The ambulance arrived along with the police, who got out of their car with guns facing my son. He was still holding the knife he had used to hurt himself, blood pouring from his arm. “What, are you gonna do, shoot me?” He said to the police, in a tone that was almost begging them to do it.

“If you don’t put down the knife, then yes we will!” An officer answered.

The Holy Spirit told me, They don’t understand this is a demonic attack. I immediately stood between them and my son, saying to them, “No you will not.”

“Ma’am, get out of the way!”

“No, I will not,” I said, turning around to face my beloved son, with their guns pointed at my back. I had the power of the Holy Spirit upon me, I could feel Him with me and I was not afraid. I told my son to put down the knife. He dropped the knife and got face down on the ground. The police wrapped his arm, cuffed him and took him the the ER for treatment. By the grace of God, he is alive and well.

The days following, I learned what God meant by STABILITY. That no matter what comes, I will remain STABLE in HIM. He is my Rock, on Whom I can lean, depend, and trust in. I learned to make a stand against the attack of the enemy in the face of it, and in the days after when he kept throwing flashes of my son’s bleeding wrist to my memory–I learned to throw it back at him, to hold every thought captive, to cast down imaginations, to declare deliverance over my son and refuse to let the devil destroy our family. I learned to stand and fight him in a greater way than I ever had before. Because I have the Living God inside of me, no matter what comes, no matter what our circumstances may be, and no matter what my natural eyes may see, this one thing I know: Because of my faith in Yeshua (Jesus) and the power of the Holy Spirit operating through my life: I AM STABLE IN MY HEAVENLY FATHER.

God Has Blessed Us So We Will Be a Blessing to Others When you sow into this ministry, it enables us to bless others. With your prayers and donations we are able to help feed hundreds of orphaned children through our Orphan to Orphan program; we are able to evangelize and teach prisoners the Gospel and give them bibles to read and study in our Ghana Prison Ministry Outreach; we are able to enroll students (most of them are active ministers with no training) into our International Quickening Bible College free of charge so they can have a firm foundation in God’s Word and do the work He has set before them–to preach, teach, encourage, build, and shepherd believers into the Kingdom and build the Church. We are able to do all this and more by God’s grace! We partner with orphanages in Ghana, Uganda and Kenya who rely on us for financial support to feed more than 425 children. We have more orphanages in our O2O program who are on a waiting list for financial assistance.

We have more orphanages in our Orphan to Orphan program who are on the waiting list to receive financial support to help feed the children. Only by the grace of God are we able to feed the ones we are now. Please pray the Lord will meet our needs so we can meet the needs of the least of these. Thank you!
