Welcome

Hello NJDB! I hope you had an awesome month! Several big events including ICON and the K-Family Picnic just occurred and were highly successful. Recaps can be found in this newsletter. The next major event is the August Board Meeting. Present your best selves there and continue to train, visit, hold DCMs, publish newsletters, work on club building and do committee work! Let me know if you have any questions and happy reading! Yours in Caring and Service,

Josie Suddeth 2015-2016 New Jersey Key Club District Governor

ICON ICON 2015 was so much fun! All attendees learned a lot, strengthened their leadership skills, bonded with Key Clubbers and Kiwanis Family members from our district and the world, and more! Highlights included the Kiwanis Family Baseball Game, Key Club Opening Session, Kiwanis Opening and Closing Sessions, Cedar Point Amusement Park, and the Indianapolis Zoo! It was so cool to be with Kiwanis Family members as we celebrated Kiwanis’ 100th Birthday! NJ KFamily members also had successful International Board Elections. Lance Incitti will be a three year Kiwanis International Trustee starting October 1st and Devin Sun will be a Key Club International Trustee until July 2016. Devin will be serving the Pacific Northwest, Carolinas, and Missouri-Arkansas Districts of Key Club International. I strongly recommend attending ICON 2016 in Atlanta! We already have exciting excursions planned and it is sure to be an exciting convention!

LeadCon Recap This past weekend I was in Indianapolis with the rest of the International Council for Leadership Conference! There we were able to discuss goals with our trustees, learn more leadership techniques, and grow as people! There are several lessons I learned that I will be sharing with you all at the August Board Meeting. I had a lot of fun seeing the International Council again and setting goals with Kacie.

K-Family Picnic Recap

Quite a few of the board members and I had a lot of fun at the K-Family Picnic on July 19th! We participated in a service project, water balloon toss (fight), sand castle contest, spent time at the beach and watched members of the NJ CKI board get pied. I highly recommend going next year!

Meet Our Trustee! I am so excited to announce that Kacie Hines will be our International Trustee until July 2016!!!! Kacie Hines will also be working with the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan and Kentucky-Tennessee Districts! Kacie Hines has a rich history in the Kiwanis Family! Kacie’s mom is a member of the Kiwanis Committee of the Alabama District of Key Club International so she has been attending K-Family events since she was little. Before becoming a trustee, Kacie was the Alabama District Webmaster for the 2012-2013 service year, Alabama District Media Tech and Technology Committee Chair for the 2013-2014 service year, and a Distinguished District Governor for the 2014-2015 service year! Some fun facts about Kacie are that she just learned how to ride a bike last week and she owns every Audrey Hepburn movie that she ever starred in! I got to discuss goals and more with Kacie at LeadCon and I know she will have a great impact on our district!

What Should I Have Accomplished So Far?

By the end of month, you should have the following accomplished: • Visited at least one club and have talked to officers at other clubs about visiting in the fall • Trained at least 1 club and have another OTC set for before August Board • Collected at least ½ of your rosters • Published at least 3 newsletters • Held at least 1 DCM and have a second one planned before the end of summer • Established contact with most clubs/tried multiple ways to contact weaker clubs • Sent charter letters • Thought about divisional event ideas • Did committee work as assigned • Finished Jersey Key assignments • Completed LTGMRF

FAQs

If I train more than one club at an OTC, do I have to submit more than one OTC form? -No. Just put two lines on the club percentages part. Do I have to wait for all of my CMRFs before I send my LTGMRF? -No. If you are done your LTGMRF other than an evaluation for a CMRFless club, send it in with an evaluation based off your knowledge and if you receive the CMRF later, send in a revised copy and just write in the email why you are sending a revised copy.

Governor’s Spotlight

A lot of you have been making great progress with your divisions and work so it was very difficult to pick one board member to showcase this month. Lieutenant Governor of Division 11 has been making great progress as an LTG! Julian has visited 2 of his clubs, trained around 61% of his division, held a DCM that met quorum, welcomed a new club into his division, published 3 newsletters, sent charter letters and has been in great communication with his clubs. He also never hesitates to contact me. Keep it up!
