KNF Celebrates First Close of the KNF Fund Behind every successful closure is a story! Great attributes that represent the characteristics of young start up companies; wise investments made by funders and a Venture Capital Firm who brings the mix. Knife Capital has built up a formidable reputation of combining Knowledge, Networks and Funding to advance the growth path of entrepreneurial ventures. Strong on selection, process and accountability, KNF is Bob Skinstad

a dynamic collaborator for start up and funder alike. Renowned fiction author Lauren Beukes was guest speaker to a small exclusive line up of KNF investors and business owners and infused her audience with a spell-bound story thread that reflected life skills including, in particular, courage, curiosity and candour. All very much the traits of the guests in the room and a tribute to KNF’s standing.

Pretoria RBN hosted by Seartec One is immediately aware of the brute height of Bakkies Botha whilst standing alongside him but more importantly one is acutely reminded of what a great legend and icon he was to the game of Springbok Rugby. Guests and clients of Seartec were treated to a superb Q & A session with Bakkies by fellow team mate Bob Skinstad at the recent Pretoria RBN at Harlequins Club. The Rugby Business Network is the world’s largest networking association engaging with business people who share the passion of rugby and enjoy a relaxed evening of business and rugby chat alike. Outgoing SA RBN Chairman, Bob Skinstad, who brought the RBN to SA, sought out the best from Bakkies who delighted the audience with his warm wit and down to earth approach. A firm favourite on the field, Bakkies cherishes his time now as a family man, businessman and farmer, but without doubt, that awe inspiring presence remains intact and larger than life! Check out w w w.therugbybusinessnetwork.com for the upcoming RBN events lined up for Windhoek, Sw akopmund and Pretor ia and ar r anged by www.oldschoolgroup.co.za.

Seartec in Bloemfontein The former ‘Liefling of Loftus’ soon found himself the Darling of Bloemfontein when he recently joined forces with the Seartec branch in Bloemfontein for a series of fund raising activities. Derick Hougaard, former Blue Bulls & Springbok Flyhalf, was guest speaker at the Bloemfontein RBN, hosted by Seartec, and made a strong impression in his recount and insight into his time representing the country and the importance of guiding the young players, coming through the ranks, in business and life skills which is key to their continued success off the field. A signed Springbok Jersey donated by Bob Skinstad raised a substantial amount for Bloemfontein Child Welfare. Seartec hosted a Charity Golf Day the following day and the field enjoyed a tremendous day out on the course with high-end activity by sponsors Limtech, AVT and Seartec. The super antics both on and off the field, by renowned Michael Scholz as he took the players through highly impressive trickster shots and activities, ensured that the Seartec Bloemfontein RBN and Golf Day, were in a league of

OLD SCHOOL GROUP LAUNCHES WITH A NEW TOURNAMENT TO THE SOCIAL SPORTS CALENDAR The Old School Group has launched with a determined mandate to establish themselves as a “really cool little sports and lifestyle company”. Built on experience and a solid reputation, respected businessman Bob Skinstad (Group Chairman) established a specialised team to manage his vested sporting interests while he continues to participate in business ventures in the UK and abroad while currently residing in the UK with his family. Gerhardi Odendaal (Group CEO), Sue Anderson (MD), Pam Bowren (Operations Manager), Shane Fainsinger (Project Manager) and Kim Kroon (Project Manager) merge their experience to deliver key national events and brand management around the country through their considered business approach, extensive networks and passion for the job. Gerhardi and Bob met at the inaugural Cape Town 10s founded nine years ago by Skinstad and fellow co-founders, Rob Fleck and Ron Rutland. Gerhardi was later appointed 10s Tournament Director and managed this event over the past 3 years for the Cape Town 10s company. This event was awarded top honours at the recent Discovery Sports Awards 2016 as the “Best Live Experience in South Africa” amongst a strong line of contenders.

Sue and Bob have a long history of working together over the past years and have collaborated on marketing strategies and initiatives for corporates during this time. Responsible for negotiating and securing all Bob’s global talks and appearances, Sue continues to manage this as his business agent. With the team focused and accountable, Old School Group has fast established and attracted new opportunities creating an exciting impact around the country. The team has recently established the Tshwane 10s (28th & 29th October 2016) and will bring the popular Cape Town 10s tournament to the Highveld region as part of a national road show. Expansive and growing, this rugby tournament which now includes popular sports like netball, volleyball, dodgeball and lawn balls along with a wicked line up of local music, is an all-embracing festival that positions it as a social sports experience in a supreme class of its own. “We cannot wait to introduce locals and communities to one of the most unique and memorable sports and lifestyle events in SA” says Gerhardi, Group CEO. This entrepreneurial mindset, coupled with sound business sense, is setting a foundation for how the Old School Group sees the business developing as it grows. Already, and under retainer,

the Group is responsible for the management of the national marketing calendar and engagement for Seartec Trading (Pty) Ltd; the management of the Momentum Cricket Sixes, the launch and positioning of the The Rugby International Summit, The Rugby Camp around the Cape Town 7s and a series of Rugby Business Networks held around the country on a regular basis with leading sporting personalities. “Discussions and proposals are well underway with a number of other high end businesses for Old School to implement their brand activation across a diverse, dynamic and highly connected cross marketing platform” says Sue Anderson of new business that is lining up for the company. Since the company started in June this year, they have fast-tracked a number of developments and opportunities throughout the business. A shared and unrivalled passion for sport, business and creativity brought this team together and they are driven to create world-class experiences and opportunities with the energy and appetite to outperform and deliver.

The company unashamedly lives up to “old school” values, which they believe, sets them apart in their journey. Discipline, integrity, sincerity, trust and good humour underpins all that is important to them. Measured and calm under pressure, feisty and fun when they play…”you’ve got it, we are Old School” asserts the Team.
