THE RWC '15 IN SUMMARY by Bob Skinstad

The RWC '15 was a magnificent tournament by all accounts and packed with emotion all the way! Close to the action for the duration of the RWC for international commentary, Bob shares a quick wrap up of some of these moments and emotions: 1. The highlight: Definitely the attendance and spirit that it evoked, amazing crowds, games and celebration of rugby. 2. The lowlight: Our SA No. 1 ref, Craig Joubert being blamed for the exit of Scotland 3. The proudest: Taking my three oldest children to the Scotland vs Australia game and my daughters asking to go to Japan with me! 4. The defining: All Blacks try by Milner Skudder in the final, amazing, interconnected, sharp rugby in a tense game 5. The saddest: Boks valiant exit, even with almost no chance we tackled and smashed our way to within two of the world's greatest team

6. The funniest: An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into the bar at the quarter finals, they turn to the Englishman and say, "What are you doing here?" 7. The tensest: BBC Radio's comments after the Scotland game, asking for Joubert's head on a plate! 8. The most awkward: The Brave Blossoms knocking over SA in a tense and exciting game, when the bookies had them at 46! 9. The naughtiest: Mischief, the multimillion dollar super yacht that hosted all the fans and players who were in the know 10. The best kept secret: The Mall Tavern - a little hidey-hole pub near my spot in Notting Hill Gate, no mess no fuss, great Scotch eggs and a Pinot noir on the days that rugby wasn't high on the agenda!

SEARTEC/SHARP 2015 RUGBY WORLD CUP TRIP "To select one highlight of the Seartec Rugby World Cup trip would do it an injustice"... the overriding consensus of each of the 24 invited guests and staff who had the privilege of spending 5 days together on a tour to Edinburgh and Newcastle to support the Boks on their RWC campaign.

Four nights. An easy pace and slow build up to the big night at St James' Park, Newcastle one would imagine. Wrong. The celebration started out at once and remained in top gear throughout the trip!

Two days in Edinburgh sealed the friendships! With a trip to Edinburgh Castle, a whisky appreciation tour, Seartec rates relationships above all. exploring and touring made for a great The most powerful thing to come out start. Fabulous little pubs and some Statistically, today bigger 'fan parks' ensured that we of this business incentive trip was the friendships. A mix of 24 diverse, is the biggest day were well in tune with the RWC energetic movers & shakers was sure of the tour. thrills and spills. to make for an exciting combination On to Newcastle a day before the deciding SA vs but no-one expected the genuine close bond that Scotland Test Match. We boarded the (dry!) train with was immediately formed and which had a major all the Scot supporters from Edinburgh and it was not impact on all. long before we found ourselves joining thousands of SA supporters to cheer on our national side in Newcastle. What a city! No rest for the wicked there!

A victorious win sealed the emotions for the day. Great rugby and post rugby celebrations brought the trip to a close and it was 24 tired but happy campers who made their way back home via a short layover in Paris. A tremendous group of people who made the Seartec/Sharp 2015 RWC one incredible experience never to be forgotten. In short and on reflection... 'lives changed' forever.

Making our way up to St James' Park was an experience to behold and every SA supporter waved and called out. Brothers in arms! Similarly the amount of good cheer from the Scot supporters, dressed up in their kilts and tartans made for great banter and the sound of bagpipes added to the occasion. The stadium, built on an old gallows site, was imposing and beautiful. Filled to the rafters with just over 50 000 singing supporters ensured that the renditions of both anthems were all moving and powerful.

It was an honour to catch up with the dynamo organising committee of the Comrades Marathon. This world class event is a well-oiled machine and by all accounts demands the attention of "an army" to run it to deadline and strict order.
