VIEW FROM THE CHAMBER PRESIDENT’S DESK Throughout the United States, Chamber of Commerce is the second most notable brand after the US Olympics! Pretty neat, right? And the Greater Flagstaff Chamber has been building business and a healthy community alongside many community partners since 1891, for which we are so grateful. Business decision makers who invest in Chambers are proactive business advocates, working to train local talent for open positions in their companies and by doing so investing in our youth, knowing they have the ability to shape our future community leadership.
We share this mission through the focus that the Greater Flagstaff Chamber puts on our young professionals program. Our Flagstaff Young Professionals are eager to engage, connect, and volunteer to better the lives of others and with more than 120 members strong. We pledge to continue to listen and meet the needs of our emerging leaders as this group is poised for growth and expansion in 2020. We believe there are certain influences that impact you and our shared community significantly no matter where our local politics and economy stands. We thrive together when we embrace oncoming pressures and opportunities. To that end, look for more membership surveys that will ask your direction on key issues that continue to bubble up. As your business advocate we will oppose new fees and taxes that add to your cost to do business; we will support ways to sustain our community’s character that do not put burden on your business; and we will ask for deregulation whenever we can to lower the costs you pay now to operate. While it is quite to task to undertake, your Greater Flagstaff Chamber is a well oiled machine with an incredible board of directors and a staff that is passionate about helping our community thrive. Volunteers by the dozens sit on Divisions to distill opinions and then frame positions for our members and community to act upon.
