Calvin Harris and Rihanna have collaborated once again, and the resulting “This Is What You Came For” seems set to be just as big a hit. The pair’s first single together, “We Found Love,” topped the Billboard 100 for ten weeks and sold over 14.5 million copies. Understandably, hopes were high for the pair joining forces again, and on the strength of our first listen (or five), it sounds like they’ve done it again. Expect to hear this one a lot over the next few months.

GRINDR OR GAY CLUB? Michael Musto’s latest piece for The New York Times, “Gay Dance Clubs on the Wane in the Age of Grindr,” gained traction on social media. “Night life veterans point to a variety of reasons, including cultural shifts, real estate pressures and technology,” writes Musto. We beg to differ. We think nightlife is thriving despite some of the odds, not only in New York City but here in South Florida as well. Stay tuned for our reasons why

Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Panamanians and Cubans--no matter the origin--they live and breathe as our sultry brothers and sisters filled with character and killer good looks. With so many of the Hispanic and Latin nations thriving among us, it’s no surprise that we would adopt some of their cultural influences--one being their undisputed gift of song and dance. You can’t deny the rhythm that pervades your body at the drop of the seductive beat. Even if you don’t know the words or the steps, you feel the groove. WHAT’S THURSDAY Thursday nights belong to the new Spanish fiesta Noche de Escandalo at Wolf Bar (2209 Wilton Drive Wilton Manors FL 33305). Every Thursday come out and party with the House of Lords and their fabulous sister-girl Poizon Ivy Lords as she and her cast keep you entertained throughout the night. It’s a fresh take on a Spanish night with an American backdrop keeping both Latinos and the fans comfortable and happy. FRIDAY The name is a clear indication of this club's sweet Latin delicacy. Azucar Nightclub (2301 SW 32 Avenue Miami FL 33145; 305-443-7657) is one of Miami's premier Spanish clubs. Being that it's in close proximity to a couple of universities, the dance club is swarming with energetic youngsters both male and female who come out to dance recklessly and catch the regularly schedule drag performances. The accents are heavy and the music is diverse and the time is enjoyable every Thursday through Sunday. SATURDAY Saturdays belong to the one and only Bailo Nightclub (7020 NW 72nd Ave Miami FL 33166; 305-671-3559) presented by the Queen of Latin Miami Marytrini and promoter Milancita. The Spanish club is beyond comparison to anything else in South Florida. The club is sprawling, the dance floor is spacious yet still packed, the men are gorgeous, the gogo boys are drop-dead gorgeous, and the entertainment is over-the-top stunning. It’s like Vegas in the heart of Latin Miami. SUNDAY Twist (1057 Washington Ave Miami Beach, FL 33139; 305-538-9478) is a stable in South Florida, everyone from locals to tourists pack the South Beach club on a weekly basis. One reason is that the multilevel party house has a room for every genre: Hip Hop, Techno, throwback, current/pop and a room with men in their undies built like Roman Gods. And of course, a Spanish room that comes alive with tradition Latin music from salsa to bachata to reggaeton. They have it all and the moves to prove it.

Jamaica Kitchen (8736 SW 72 Street Miami FL 33173; 305-5962585). The Caribbean has such a wealth of explosive flavors from jerk chicken to curry goat to oxtail stew. And those bold flavors and more can be savored at Jamaica Kitchen. It’s a small mom and pop eatery with just one table and six barstools. But the authentic Jamaican restaurant is a beloved treasure among the locals with loyal patrons leaving with hefty to-go bags of savory Jamaican cuisine. The eatery doubles as a store where you can continue your Caribbean feast with your own cooking.

Scuola Vecchia (522 East Atlantic Avenue Delray Beach FL 33483; 561-865-5923). It’s not really about the experience but more so the taste at this authentic Neapolitan pizzeria. The Italian restaurant takes its name seriously translating in English to mean old school. And as such is how the food is prepared. Each pizza maker is certified and overseen by chef and Master Pizzaiuoli Roberto Caporuscio. Their cuisine is delectably traditional and a work of art. Just check out their salads plated è magnifico!

WHAT’S

Cafe Pastis (7310 SW 57 Avenue Miami FL 33143; 305665-3322). The traditional taste of French cuisine is dead smack in the heart of Miami at the quaint rustic-chic restaurant. Like everything French, the love that is poured into their food is orgasmic. And a little bit sauced with then namesake anise-flavored apéritif of Provence, a 90-proof spirit. Dip into homemade pete and melted goat cheese as you await a slow-roasted lamb shank in an olive-orange fresh-thyme sauce.

Taverna Opa (Varying location throughout South Florida, tavernaopa.com). The Greeks celebrate life in the most spirited ways. And at Taverna Opa that crazy good time is brought to Florida in the form of Greek culture. At any given time at this lively establishment, you’ll see a belly dancer slithering their way through the restaurant. Patrons can dance on the tables. And there has been known to be occasional plate tossing when glee is in full swing. Definitely napkin confetti is a most. It’s more than authentic food; it’s an unforgettable bonding experience.

Old Heidelberg Restaurant (900 W State Road 84 Fort Lauderdale 33315; 954-463-6747). The genuine cuisine isn’t the only draw to this German establishment. Besides the German specialties like their Prime Rip Stroganoff and Kassler Chop Frankfurt, the restaurant décor is said to be reminiscent of Bavaria, a federal state in Germany that embodies the Tudor style. They have an impeccable German Beer selection as well.

Mai Kai (3599 N Federal Highway Fort Lauderdale FL 33308; 954-563-3272). This Polynesian restaurant is the ultimate escape from everything sunshine state. The encapsulating experience is served with traditional Cantonese cuisine and every room, inside and out, showcasing a true replica of Polynesia regions. Stage performances get a little sizzling with live fire tricks and the beefy male dancers in nothing but traditional lavalava garments, a men’s sarong that only slightly covers their hunky build.

The Brilliant Colors of Thailand

Exploring the vibrant rainbow of this magical land, one hue at a time.

hen my plane first touched down in Thailand after 31 hours of travel, it was midnight. Our taxi drove from the Phuket airport to our resort shrouded in darkness. My traveling companion and I couldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t see anything in this rural section of the country â&#x20AC;&#x201C; only the shining lights of a few 7-Elevens that dotted the way. In the morning, I pulled back the curtains of my windows to an overwhelmingly animated landscape. From my vantage, I could see turquoise water, navy green hills, and violet flowers that overflowed from my balcony. Thailand is a country long respected for the visibility of its LGBT community, and they continue to welcome us as visitors with a rainbow of colors. While a great distance away, the trip to this far off destination is well worth the travel. Sure, getting there can be expensive but once you are there, it is affordable for even a boy on a tight budget. Here, we explore the vibrant color scheme of this magical land, one fabulous hue at a time.

THE RED NEON LIGHTS. Bangkok is a sweeping city filled with skyscrapers that touch the sky. No wonder its nickname is City of Angels. The vitality is felt best at night when the city comes alive and the red neon lights turn on, drawing passersby’s inside the clubs and bars with promises of drink specials and other temptations. This especially is true of gay nightlife that brings people far and wide for its openness and debauchery. Visit Soi 2 to 4 in Patpong for the gay nightlife hot spot of Bangkok, where both locals and tourists flock to have a great time and mingle. Telephone Bar is a popular destination, where you can pick up the house phone (yes, the phones do work) and dial the extension of the nearest guy who has caught your eye and say, “Hello.” For the bears and their admirers, stop by Bearbie Karaoke Bar. Just a short walk way is the So Sofitel Bangkok. Popular with LGBT visitors for its proximity to the gay bars, pick from four themes (water, wood, earth, and metal) – all with ostentatious and over the top designs by Christian Lacroix. There is also a rooftop lounge that offers not only a view of the beautiful Lumpini Park below, but also a view of eye candy sipping cocktails at the bar.

THE PINK SUNRISE FROM THE PENINSULA. Another destination to rest your head, try snagging a room at the Bangkok Peninsula, where stars like Madonna helicopter in on the roof’s helipad. Don’t let that suggest it’s out of your price limit. Luxury comes at a much more affordable price in Thailand. On the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the Peninsula offers magnificent views of the cityscape, especially at sunrise when the pink sun climbs from out of the abyss of tall buildings. Other highlights during your stay include sunset cocktail cruises down the river, a three-tiered outdoor pool, authentic Thai massages at their tranquil spa, and an afternoon tea service that the hotel is renowned for.

THE GOLD PLATED WALLS OF THE GRAND PALACE. Thailand’s most visited attraction, the Grand Palace is a sight that your eyes must see for themselves. There is beauty absolutely everywhere you turn in the massive complex that once housed the country’s monarchy. From gold plated walls, sculptures, gardens, pavilions, and the famous Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Thailand’s color scheme is the boldest and brightest here. The Palace is revered as an important religious site, so don’t forget to wear long pants and a top that covers your shoulders.

THE LUSH GREEN LANDSCAPE OF THE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY. The symbols of Thailand, elephants are everywhere. While many of the elephant tourism attractions do not have high standards of living for the magnificent creatures, there are some attractions that are trying to change that. Anantara Resort and Elephant Camp is in the north of Thailand in the middle of the Golden Triangle, a region that borders Myanmar and Laos. The gorgeous resort is tucked on a ridge overlooking lush green jungles, rice fields, and an elephant camp. Established in 2003 as a traditional mahout village, the camp works alongside the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation to perform street rescues, provide employment and a comfortable lifestyle for elephants and their entire mahout families. There, you are able to spend lots of quality time with the grandiose Goliaths, participating in different activities throughout your stay.

THE ORANGE ROBES OF THE MONKS. An integral part of Thai culture is Buddhism. One of the ways to honor and celebrate is to visit some of the many beautiful temples that dot the landscape. There, you will find monks wearing brilliantly bright orange robes ready to bless you as you kneel at the altar of Buddha. Some temples that are not to be missed for their unique characteristics are the Big Buddha in Phuket, the Chiang Rai White Temple, and The Temple of the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho in Bangkok.

THE BLUE WATER BEACHES OF PHUKET. Thailand’s most popular beach destination, Phuket has spectacular scenery, stunning tropical sunsets and the warm blue Andaman Sea. Just a short 45-minute journey from Phuket will transport you to the tropical paradise and famous islands of Koh Phi Phi, the ultimate tropical getaway in Thailand made infamous by the 2000 film The Beach. Amazing, white sandy beaches and breathtaking rock formations boldly rise from the turquoise waters surrounding the islands – making you feel like you are in the world’s quintessential paradise. Energetic nightlife awaits you at Patong Beach, where the epicenter of gay life is concentrated in the Paradise Complex offering plenty of guesthouses, go-go bars, discos, gay saunas, restaurants and bars.

THE INDIGO TEA AT THE ANANTARA CHIANG MAI. When you check into the Anantara Chiang Mai, the concierge greets you with a butterfly pea flower drink that magically turns from clear to indigo in front of your eyes. Bordering the Mae Ping River in this beautiful northern city, Anantara is a luxurious sanctuary of contemporary, Thai and colonial style. While there, visit Chiang Mai’s Night Bazaar. This nocturnal marketplace is filled with stalls selling everything from souvenirs, textiles, food, and plenty of other interesting items.

PROVINCETOWN, MASSACHUSETTS

rovincetown is one of the last gay bastions, a gay Promised Land where we can find our refuge. More artistic and tranquil than its main competitor Fire Island, people are opting to vacay for a week in P-town as opposed to a few weekends in the Pines this summer. Peak season is July through August so plan early if you plan on traveling there.

The Crown and Anchor is the destinationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s largest entertainment complex. The two cabaret venues boast incredible headliners all summer long like Lily Tomlin, Alan Cumming, Miss Richfield 1981, and Dina Martina. To thwart off obnoxious bachelorette parties who have tried to stake their claims on our gay spaces, The Crown and Anchor is responding with two new parties at their nightclub. Black Out will be an underwear party every Thursday, and Testosterone Gear will be a uniform night on

Saturdays with dress code enforced. Names like Vinny Vega, Boomer Banks, and Seth Fornea help all summer long making sure the boys stay hot and bothered on the dance floor. While the most popular option to stay are house rentals, there are still some great hotels to lay your head. The hotel at the Crown and Anchor has 18 rooms, 11 standard and six waterfront suites with private balconies overlooking the shore where the pilgrims landed many years ago. The Brass Key and Crowne Point are also great guesthouses that offer social situations for mixing and mingling with new people in some pretty upscale digs. During the day, stake your claim at the best beach in Ptown, Herring Cove. Stay to the left for the gayfriendly and clothing-optional side of the beach. The Cove is the perfect spot for couples looking for a romantic getaway, with whale-watching and sunsets that seem to melt into the ocean. - AK

TRAVEL ASBURY PARK, NEW JERSEY

Rehoboth's few exclusively gay bed and breakfasts. It features 14 bright and vibrant rooms, clothing-optional hot tub and sun deck, and loaner bicycles for cruising around town. Right across the street is the Double L, a leather bar that will reopen for its 19th season this year. Their Saturday night Mandance is always packed, and resumes raging on May 21. Poodle Beach is where the beautiful boys, masculine men, and everyone i n - b e t we e n go to frolic during the day. Find it by going south down to the end of the boardwalk at Queen Street (that can’t be a coincidence), and turning toward the ocean. Get there by noon to claim the prime beach real estate. By 2pm, it’s jammed towel-to-towel. After you towel off, build up some liquid courage at one of the local gay watering holes like Aqua Grill or Blue Moon that bring all the boys out for day drinking or late night cruising. The Purple Parrot Grill is a mixed spot, but is known for their popular Sunday night drag show featuring Tara Austin and the Birdcage Bad Girls. - AK

Connected directly to Paradise, the Empress Hotel is located directly across from the Asbury Park beach. Your room can have either views of the Paradise pool or ocean views, and the Copper Bar and Grill is located directly in-house. Best of all, the hotel is connected directly to the Paradise nightclub complex, so after a night of partying, you can pop right up to your room. Another option, The Hotel Tides brings a touch of boutique to Asbury Park. With a retro meets current vibe, and killer martinis, the Tides is the perfect spot, several blocks from the beach, to get a touch of quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the beach and boardwalk scene. The rooms are quiet, and the in house restaurant offers American cuisine, using only the freshest seasonal ingredients. Long known as the “Gay Cheers” of Asbury Park, Georgies is the well-known watering hole where “everyone knows your name”. They have weekly events, and friendly and local bartenders to always fulfill your cocktail needs. One of the biggest nights of the week is their Tuesday night stripper events, with gorgeous boys coming in to dance for your pleasure (and tips)! - MC

BRIEF ENCOUNTER e was there when the growing youngster recorded H his first demo at the age of 15 years old, he celebrated with the indie artist when he established his own record label, Angel King Musique, in 2010 and he also helped reassemble the shattered pieces when the hopeless romantic’s relationships soured.

Big Ben has been by the Londoners side through good times and bad and for that Solo sings Good Morning London, a metaphoric breakup song, to his city of love. No matter what man makes his way in and out of Solo’s life the global city, London, is always at his feet awaiting his call. Why does London hold such a special place in your heart? I came as a child with my family so London is my home. And home is where I feel I can truly be myself. You live in London but you are from Nigeria, West Africa and you’re a descendant of a Lebanese and Chilean, right? I am British but I’m still in touch with my roots. In essence, Londoners are international. Being in London is like being in the centre of the world; we all come from somewhere and meet here without forgetting where we came from. What would you say are the best aspects of London? London is the most cosmopolitan city in the world. And it is one of the most humanitarian cities I know. I am an advocate for human rights and I find them prevalent and preserved in this city. In London the consensus is that all people are equal. Describe the gay scene in London? I am not a scene queen since I’ve been too busy lately but when I do go out I like the Ibiza style mixed clubs like the Ministry of Sound, which goes gay once a week and has great terrace parties in the summer. It's London’s version of Space in Miami, which is hands down my favourite club in the world. I like clubs that are mixed and everyone can groove and do their own thing. What is the song Good Morning London about? The song is a metaphorical break up song

about finding your way back home. London is home so the metaphor there is finding myself again. And for the record, it’s not my most recent relationship that I’m referring to in the song. You say you wrote the song in three minutes while walking from your ex’s flat to your friends. Does that mean lyrics and all or just the concept? Yes, I wrote the lyrics and melody in three minutes. I always write my lyrics and melodies together. Ever since my first song in the bathroom when I was seven it’s been like that. In the end of your video you appear with a black eye, was that a symbolic statement or something more close to home? That was a symbolic theme. Learning to say no is more important than saying yes in order to stay in a relationship. I was not in a relationship, which involved domestic violence. Can your American fans ever expect to see you in the states? I would love to see myself in the states so as soon I have news on that I will broadcast it. You all can always invite me to perform and I can always say yes. Solo is currently working on his second book (his first one, The Memoirs of Angel King, can be found on iBooks) and finishing up his next album. The tattooed sweetie pie is off to Provincetown for his first bid as a summer bartender in the gay vacation destination. However, there’s still time to say your goodbyes to the free spirit before he jets off after his last day on May 13. And if you still can’t help but mourn the lost, you can always stalk him at his temporary home in P-Town, The Crown and Anchor. Hell, we wouldn’t blame you because we ourselves are already missing the sexy goofball, so much so, that we had to get him in the studio to take our parting shots and get a little nosey. Like any concerned friend would do, right?

• How long are you going for? I'm going to do the full season, which is until the end of October. Apparently, there’s a pretty spectacular Halloween there. • What made you decide to go? It will be my first time and I wanted to experience working there. • How’d you get the gig? I was spotted by somebody special.

Working Out with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome BY TOM BONANTI

At least one million people in the United States suffer from CFS.

verybody gets overly tired sometimes. The pressures of the job, financial demands, taxing relationships, can all take their toll on you! But if your fatigue continues for weeks or a month forcing you to miss work, cancel workouts, and avoid friends, you most likely need to seek professional help. Mix these tendencies with loss of memory and concentration, sore throat, unexplained joint and muscle pain, headaches and unrefreshing sleep, and you probably have something called chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).

The cause of CFS is unknown, but there are many theories ranging from viral infections and hormonal imbalances to psychological stress and any number of other triggering events. Fatigue can also be a symptom of some serious illnesses, so itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s best to consult your doctor who can give you tests to rule out many factors. The great news is that there are ways to boost energy and rise above fatigue that are natural and cost effective.

FITNESS Number one on the list is exercise. Many people suffering with CFS report being so exhausted that they can barely get out of bed and comb their hair. So how are you going to rally enough to get to the gym and pump iron? The answer is, you don’t. Embark upon a graded exercise program whereby you literally take your workouts one step at a time. Begin with a short walk every day for a week or two. Then add a couple of light hand-held dumbbells and step-up the pace a little. Take a swim at the pool or beach. When you finally make it to the gym, begin with light stretching and cardio. Gradually add resistance training to your routine and workout perhaps training only one muscle group lightly each day. Be patient and consistent. Over time, you’ll be able to increase the intensity and duration of your exercise. People with CFS frequently report really shabby sleep, sometimes even insomnia. Increasing sleep time and quality replenishes the body’s energy and helps tired, sore muscles and joints recover. Improving sleep can be problematic, so you may need to discuss the issue with your physician or psychologist. Here are some natural sleep remedies. Refrain from alcohol and over-the-counter sleep aids. Try retiring in a cool, uncluttered atmosphere free from noise, TV, computers, cell phones and other distractions. A warm bath or shower, a little meditation before bed, a sleep mask, a cup of chamomile tea or even some light carbs (a cup of cereal and skim milk) have all been reported as effective sleep remedies. Ribose is an essential sugar in your body used for the production of energy in your cells. Some studies have demonstrated that a ribose supplement reduced sleep disorders, muscle and joint pain, and improved mental concentration. Don’t scramble for the cake and candy or even the fruits and vegetables, it’s not found in these common carbohydrates. Instead consult your physician first to see if taking a proper ribose supplement will be safe and helpful for you. Be open to trying alternative therapies. Pain and discomfort associated with CFS have benefitted from therapeutic massage, acupuncture, yoga and tai chi. Living with CFS can be challenging, even daunting at times. Don’t throw in the towel. Try some of these natural remedies. Speak frankly with you doctor or a counselor. Reach out to caring friends.
