PARKS & REC INSIGHTS Flower Mound Parks & Trails Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Parks and Recreation Month. In 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives officially mandated July as “Parks and Recreation Month.” So spend some time this summer utilizing the great parks and trails Flower Mound has to offer! The Parks and Recreation Division maintains close to 1,000 acres of parkland. This includes approximately 60 miles of multi-purpose trails that link together parks, neighborhoods, schools, and businesses. There are also 12 miles of equestrian trails and 14 miles of unpaved hike and bike trails for public use located along the northern shores of Grapevine Lake. Many of our neighborhood parks offer a variety of playgrounds, covered picnic shelters, cooking grills, park benches, and basketball play pads. Residents also enjoy numerous youth and adult baseball, softball, football, and soccer fields, and public tennis courts.

Nestled within the woodlands of the Cross Timbers eco-region, the course is laid out over 25 acres of some of the most scenic, natural, and undisturbed land Flower Mound has to offer. There is a wide range of tree-lined fairways, meandering creek beds, water hazards, rock outcroppings, and terrain that offers dramatic elevation changes. The course is designed for intermediate and advanced players, but can also be enjoyed by the beginner. Features include top of the line disc golf baskets, concrete tee pads, and tee yardage signs.
