Creative Robotics & Engineering Camp

Students in this camp will focus on engineering, physical science, technology, mathematics, and language projects. Hummingbird Kits, LegoWedo, and a Micro:bit programmable micro-computer will be used to unleash their creativity to craft robots and animate them by using both block and text-based coding languages. Students will use VEXcode VR to code a virtual robot, which will teach them about project flow, loops, conditionals, and algorithms. Groups will be divided by age and skill level. No prior coding experience needed. An additional material fee of $15 will be due to the instructor on the first day of camp. This camp teaches important STEAM concepts and design thinking through easy-to-use, intuitive, and engaging software to allow young students to transition from drawing in 2D to designing in 3D. Augmented Reality (A.R.) exposes the real-life environment with a digital augmentation overlain on it. Virtual Reality (V.R.) is a medium that immerses the viewer into a virtual, 3D experience. Adventures in Art Camp

This art camp features fine art with a certified Robert Garden Instructor. Students explore painting and drawing using watercolors, heavy and light acrylics, charcoals, and oil pastels creating eight amazing paintings, including landscapes, seascapes, animals and still life’s. During survival situations, the four basic needs are shelter, water, fire, and food. Participants will learn how to purify water, signal for help, navigate in the wilderness, search for edible food, set up a shelter, first aid, leave no trace camping, Army chants, and more! CAC Birthday Party Packages

The Parks and Recreation Department offers different options for hosting parties at the CAC, including party packages and room rental opportunities for birthdays, end-of-season sports team parties, or other celebrations. Parties will be held for one hour in either the indoor party room or one of the outdoor waterpark shade pavilions. Each attendee and one parent will receive a free swim pass for the day of the party. The basic party package costs $165 for members, $185 for nonmembers and includes the party area and host (one hour), half-sheet cake, 16 ice cream cups (vanilla or chocolate), 16 drinks, 16 general party favors, evites, and all paper goods (tablecloth, paper plates, cups, napkins, and utensils).
