As a part of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF), the team emphasizes fun, fitness, and sportsmanship. Participants compete in events based on gender and age. The cost per person for the entire summer session covers a team T-shirt, swim cap, all practices and circuit meets, coaching fees, and all TAAF regional fees. Additional fees required for team swimsuit and optional State Meet (fee TBA). A parent’s meeting will be held, but time and hosting service is to be determined. Blue Fin registration must be done in person at the CAC. Location: CAC Indoor Pool Fee: $203/$225

Lifeguarding Instructor Course

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the basic-level American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses. Ages: 17 years and up Location: CAC Party Room & Indoor Pool Instructor: Recreation Staff Min/Max: 4/10

Lifeguarding Recertification Course*

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Recertification course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until the emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over in pools. Junior Lifeguarding

The American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding is designed to guide youth to the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course by building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes, and skills for future lifeguards. The Junior Lifeguarding course does not certify participants in first aid, CPR/AED, or as a lifeguard. Each day participants will be responsible for providing their own lunch, whistle, towel, goggles, swimsuit, and a change of clothes. Water Safety Instructor Course*

The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course trains instructor candidates to teach courses and presentations in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress. This certification will allow an individual the ability to teach swim lessons as well as other Water Safety classes.
